Burger and fries with special sauce to die for...
    Kate B.

Popped by here last week while getting my AC repaired by a great guy in the lot of Autozone. Who'd a thought? Took my chances on the burger and it blew me away. And the fries? Well see for yourself... I don't know how many times I told them it was the best burger and fries I've had in forever but... And what an adorable outdoor area in the back. And the bar is cool too. And even better than all that was my conversation with the owner, Ben. Thank you, Ben!

    Beautiful classic SHAKEN margaritas!

Have been passing by this outdoor bar on my socially distanced walls and we FINALLY stopped in! So glad that we did because it's the sweetest little place with plenty of space to have some time out of the house for a bit of normalcy. My friend and I were excited to see Flamin' Hot Cheeto chicken wings on the menu. Cool jazz music and a the nice Brooklyn sky. I will be enjoying this spot and trying out the foods all fall long.

Drenched in oil even after being air fried at home

I had a delivery order and let me tell you it was absolutely disgusting, not only was the order wrong but the fries came DRENCHED in oil, they look nothing like the photos and even air frying them didn't save them. The meat is not cooked well either. Waste of money. Never order from here !!

The only thing that betrays the hidden nature of Dunya Kabab House is the brilliant red sign. Upon closer inspection, you can see a warm dining area, glass partition to see "where the magic happens" in the kitchen behind, and the many articles plastered showing their unique take on Afghani food. I bookmarked the spot to come back to, and within the week, I came back and ordered takeout for the dish most fellow reviewers raved about -- the Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao. When I got home and opened the bag, I was pleasantly surprised to find a small side salad and the dish I recognised from a visit to another nearby restaurant specialising in Uzbeki food -- the plov! The rice was really well seasoned and the lamb shank was so tender it fell off the bone. Everything was really flavourful and well balanced, even for take-out. Unlike the other place, this plov was still sweet without being cloyingly so. I had such good impression that I'm excited to return in the future and try their other dishes, since I heard *everything* Dunya Kebab House does is impeccable.

It's also super affordable for the quality and portion size--this is definitely going to become a go-to for lunch and dinner in the neighborhood for me. Don't miss it!

I ordered the Journey to Baku salad, the Turkish bread, and the Guru Khingal. The salad needed a pinch of salt, but there was a shaker on the table and with that addition, it was a decent refreshing appetizer. It's sort of a spread so I would recommend ordering some bread to eat with it. The bread came out steaming hot and smelling amazing. It was soft and fluffy on the inside and delicious. I took the extra home and ate it all immediately when I got there. Delicious bread. The Guru Khingal is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten in New York City. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, as I have never eaten this type of food before. The tender, handcut pasta seems to be layered with flavorful lamb fat like the most decadent possible buttered noodles and the ground lamb topping is rich and perfectly seasoned. The yogurt sauce gives the dish balance. It's a fairly large portion that could easily be shared between two. I highly recommend this spot, the glowing reviews are not exaggerating at all. I often like to try new and unusual restaurants, and sometimes I enjoy them mostly for the novelty. That was not the case at Village Cafe. My meal here was delicious and I am eager to return, even with the 75 minute commute from north Brooklyn.

I felt like I was inside someone's home and felt welcomed and comfortable. Not loud and well lit. Service (5/5): We came at an off hour during the weekend around 1:30pm there was still around 6 parties dining in. The staff provided good recommendations and good service. When asked for water without any lemon slices, they provided bottled water at no extra cost! Food: (4/5) - rated New York Times top 100 Best Restaurants in New York City in 2025 Every dish came with a small cup of sour cream / Tzatziki based sauce that went with every dish. This was a must and this was mastered very well. Kutaby with chicken and lamb (4/5) - we ordered one each but the lamb was far superior than the chicken. Guru Hingal (4/5) - served in a warmed bowl with a lid in a bed of soft pasta and minced lamb. The pasta reminded me of chow fun (Chinese rice flat noodles) and then some seasoned minced lamb. While overall there were flavors in there, it was still lacked flavors and required to be drowned in the Tzatziki sauces or perhaps a order of table hot sauce. Finally we got the Lamb Lulya Kebab (5/5): this was by far the best dish of the meal! The meat was so wonderfully seasoned throughout, juicy, and complemented well with the rice, onions, and tomato based dip. The wraps themselves were way too small to enjoy using hands so we definitely reconstructed on our plates and attempts with our hands.

You order on the sidewalk via a kiosk and choose your protein (chicken, beef, or mixed), served as a wrap, sandwich, or in a box. I got the chicken box and of the three available sides (salad, yellow rice, fries) chose the rice and sides. The most delicious garlic cream sauce is drizzled over everything, though you can get extra sauce for $1 if you want more than just a drizzle. You can also get some spicy sauce for the same price, which does not come standard with the box. I didn't try the spicy stuff, but I would next time. The rice and the crunchy, shoestring-style spiced fries were great, but of course the biggest star of the box was the ridiculously tender chicken. It reminded me of halal street meat, but it's maybe even juicier and more succulent. Minor notes: The chicken was slightly, just slightly, over salted. Don't wait too long to eat the fries, which lose their luster pretty fast (as fries tend to do).

My food was ready in less than 10 minutes of ordering it. When I ordered, it wasn't busy. The quality of the meat stood out to me--it tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and overall pretty good for the price point. The fries, however, were forgettable. The portion felt small, though that didn't bother me as much as the flavor. They had a curry-turmeric style seasoning that just didn't land for me. Instead of being crispy, the fries were limp and dry, which took away from the experience. I did not try signature sauce, which costs extra, and even the ketchup didn't add much to the flavor profile.
