The bar, club house and driving range are very very dated. This could and should be a huge cash cow for the city and county, but facilities are stuck in 1975. Fast forward a couple months and the greens are fully healed and in amazing shape for a local muni. Honestly, some of the best greens I've played on a public course in the Bay Area. The best part is that it's still affordable compared to other public courses. I played a round with my dad and lifelong friend this past weekend. It was a holiday weekend and we didn't have a tee time on Thursday, but I kept checking back on the website and was able to book a sunday tee time at 8:30AM. We checked-in and the course was empty-ish and was able to tee off 15 minutes early. We didn't have a single play with us so it ended up being a great round with just the 3 of us. While the greens are good, there are some dead spots in the fairways from all the rain that came over the winter but overall still in great shape. Poplar Creek is the golf course where you go for an ego boost because they have so many driveable par 4s. The caveat to that is there are a lot of tough par 3s. Pretty much all the par 5s are reachable in 2, so there's birdies to be had all over the course. My personal best here is 67 with 6 birdies! The prices increased since lasts year. Weekday is $45 and Weekend is $62. Either way, still very affordable by Bay Area golf standards. The course is very walkable as it's super flat. Looking forward to playing many rounds out here over the summer!

The course is drying out and almost back to the forgiving fairways I'm used to, but I have to say that the rough over the last 2-3 rounds I've played here since those rains has been a little thicker than I'm used to...but I actually like it! Makes the course more interesting and challenging. Maybe I'm a masochist but I also kind of liked some of those big ponds that were out there right after the heavy rains...definitely made you focus more on driving accuracy vs just bombing away (but it would be nice to put a warning flag or something on a few holes where those ponds are hidden (like on #1, #10 and #14)...nothing worse than hitting what you thought was a great tee shot only to find out you lost your ball in a huge pool of standing water you could not see from the tee box or fairway (no penalty but cost me a $4 premium ball a few times!). It's also taken awhile to fix the driving range fence (going on about 2-3 months now) so that's a bit disappointing (I heard it will be ready by April 1 though)...however, the short game practice area is one of the better ones in the area for a public course (it's free if you're playing a round that day). What I do miss is the Par-3 Restaurant and Snack Bar. Hope they sort out that messy situation soon and get another great proprieter in there soon. Anyway, you can't beat the price here, especially on a weekday! It's my go to course when I need to work on my game and build up my confidence!!

I play here about once a month or so and take advantage of the weekday senior rate ($45 to walk). Today, the greens were a bit slow (looks like greens were aerated in the last month) and the rough was a couple of inches longer than usual, too, both in the fairway and green side (almost felt like Harding Park rough) and often just happy to find your ball and be able to gouge it out back into play! Since I wasn't hitting the ball as straight as I like, it was a fairly challenging day. Note: there is also a temporary green on 16th hole so it plays as a short par 4 right now (saw a sign in pro shop but starter forgot to mention it). But all in all, paired up with a great couple in their 80s and had a fun day, despite playing over bogey ball today!! P.s. Wish their bar and restaurant would stay open longer during weekdays -- usually closes around 4pm or sometimes earlier, right when you need a refreshment and want to relax for a bit after a tough round!!

In terms of price, it's definitely one of the pricier rounds of golf in the Peninsula. I was able to book a tee time online at a discounted rate, which made it more enticing. If you like to walk hills, the course offers a good workout if you decided to walk it. When we played the it was cart-path only with the golf carts. If it's your first time playing, 10/10 recommend getting a golf cart. The course itself id say is tough for the average golfer. Lots of long holes, tight fairways, uneven lies, and some tee shots that can make you sweat a bit. If you have a problem keeping the ball in bounds, definitely recommend bringing extra golf balls. Overall, solid and challenging course. Decent facilities, beverage cart that comes around, and full service restaurant for some pre round or post round fuel.

The ground is uneven and either they don't rotate the spots enough or it's probably because the majority of folks who hit on grass here don't know the proper etiquette of practicing off a grass range. Either way, not worth it IMO. It's a range that I'll go to if I want to get a few shots up, but honestly I'd rather drive further for something of better quality.

When it's not your turn, you're just hanging out on the couch, snacking, sipping drinks, chatting, or watching everyone else play. The food is mostly shareable bar-style food -- nothing particularly amazing, but it fits the vibe well. There are also a few indoor games to keep people entertained while waiting around. We usually go with family or friends, though I've also seen a lot of company team-building events hosted here. The main downside is the cost. The hourly bay rates can get pretty expensive during peak hours, and once you add food and drinks, a visit can easily become pricey. We sometimes buy the gift cards from Costco, which basically works out to about 20% off. We've also purchased the summer pass the last two years, which gives unlimited visits for the pass holder and guests. That said, on weekends you still need to arrive early to grab one of the bays reserved for summer pass holders.
