The regular helper was not available so the mover brought someone he introduced as his uncle who…read moreshowed up in flip flops. The "uncle" disappeared about half way through the job. Before that, he was so careless that he broke an irreplaceable beveled mirror on an antique dresser that was a family heirloom of my late mother's. I understand accidents happen, so I didn't say anything but I was startled that they didn't really apologize or acknowledge the loss. I am disabled with Long Covid fatigue and was under medical orders not to exert myself (which is why I hired a pair of movers). However, I ended up having to help because the helper disappeared and there was no one else to help carry the furniture. The job had to be finished by nightfall so the containers could be returned to Uhaul by the next day. If I had not helped, they were not going to finish by nightfall. By the end of the day, I was so exhausted that there was no way I was going to be able to help move a final desk from upstairs to the driveway and to move the new piece of furniture in its place. So that was left pending. Suffice it to say, I ended up bed-ridden as a result and lost many months of work. A few months later, I wrote to see if they might stop by to move that one desk downstairs and replace it with the desk from the Uhaul that was stashed in the garage because I couldn't care it (I'm a single mother, so I could not do this alone with chronic fatigue in the pandemic). I wrote, "Shouldn't take but 15 minutes. I've recently had surgery (a last step from my cancer in remission) so it will be a few months until I can lift things. I have guests coming in a couple of weeks and I'd love to have the guest room in better order." He told me it would be a $120 minimum (again, this was for a job they left incomplete because I didn't have the physical strength to help carry these two items after his partner left). I declined because I didn't think that $120 was appropriate for a job they had left undone and that would take less than 15 minutes. Again, I didn't complain, but made a mental note never to use these movers again. A few months ago this business send me an invoice for another customer. I reminded him of who I was and he proceeded to gaslight me and deny all the above (for which I have photos and a long paper trail of correspondence with Uhaul about the tight delivery time). If he had apologized, I would have kept quiet, but the fact that he accused me of lying when I ended up in bed for three months with soul-crushing Long Covid fatigue as a result of this ordeal was the straw that broke this camel's back. I think that businesses that take advantage of disabled single mothers should have that known publicly. Update -- 3/29/23. Since I posted this review, the mover dug up my telephone and has been sending me a series of messages that I am "slandering" him and "lien" [lying]. Again, had the mover had the compassion or manners to simply apologize for the broken heirloom furniture or to recognize that his hired partner had disappeared midway through the job leaving me to work on a clock for which I was paying him, or offered a reasonable quote for a 15 minute job, I might have considered removing this review. However, angrily messaging an aggrieved client about a Yelp review is not an o.k. response. I may be physically weak, but I do have the power of the pen. Devin was hard working, but his partner (whoever he was, I recall being told he was an uncle, but whatever) was NOT an appropriate helper. As a business, he should have taken responsibility and apologized and been willin to make amends. Again, while I was shocked that at the $120 price quote, I am not a conflictive person and would honestly have been happy with an apology. I'm so tired of being taken advantage as a single mother. I also noticed that another reviewer noted that he texted her that she had an attitude, so this seems to be part of a pattern of angry responses to reviews.

Everyone that I had spoken with up to this point made me feel like they eere trying to squeeze as many people in as they could and for a high price. Now don't get me wrong....I totally get that you have a business to make money. But I just felt like another number and that made me question whether or not they would treat my belongings with care. However, the minute I spoke to Rachel on the phone with SC Movers, I knew that was the company that I wanted to go with! She was genuine and personable and answered all of my questions. They were also very fairly priced! Fast forward to moving day, Shawn and Cain were a few minutes early which we appreciated. They took a few moments to find out exactly what we needed and quickly accomplished it. My roommate and I were both impressed with how professional, friendly, and efficient they were. AND - they took great care of our stuff!!! So fast forward a few days. We were struggling with getting the rest of our belongings out before the final move-out date. Not that we were slacking - we just have too much stuff. Lol I called Rachel again (and, of course, she was as nice as she was the first time) and asked if there was any chance that the guys could come out in the next day or two to help again. They accommodated us the next day and did a fantastic job. So thank you, SC Movers!!! Highly recommend and will definitely use again if there's any need in the future!

During the move, a woman from the office called to ask how things were going. I shared my concerns about their apparent lack of experience and how long I thought it might take to move my three-bedroom home. Her response surprised me. She said, "Well, we can cancel your move if you'd like." I replied that I did not want to cancel and that I would simply have to stop the move once I reached my budget. Shortly after our conversation, she sent me an email stating that if the movers were not treated well, they could cancel the move. This completely caught me off guard because nothing in our conversation suggested that the movers were being mistreated. I responded asking where that was coming from, and she replied, "If no language, then nothing to worry about. Wishing you a great day!" I later posted a review about my interaction with her. Shortly afterward, I received an email stating that my move had been canceled. The office instructed the movers to leave my belongings in the driveway. I was mortified. I called and pleaded with them to have the movers put my belongings back inside the house. I was told they would only do so if I deleted my review. To avoid being left with my belongings in the driveway, I reluctantly removed the review. We then paid the movers directly in cash for their time, as none of this was their fault. I waited over a month to post this review because it took an unusually long time to receive my deposit refund. I would be very cautious about booking this company. My experience with Paula was extremely disappointing. I don't know why she was so aggressive, but this is not the type of customer service or business practice I would ever want to deal with again.

From the moment they arrived, it was clear I was dealing with pros -- not just guys who show up with a truck, but people who take pride in doing the job right. Larry is one of those rare people who makes everything feel easy. He's calm, organized, and communicates clearly, which instantly takes the stress level down. Ray is the perfect counterpart -- strong, efficient, and incredibly detail‑oriented. Together, they work like a well‑oiled machine. They handled every piece with care, strategized the move like it was a chess match, and made sure nothing was rushed or sloppy. What impressed me most was how easy they were to work with. No attitude, no drama, no hidden fees, no "we can't do that." Just solid, honest, hardworking guys who show up ready to make your life easier. They treated my home and belongings with respect, and they treated me with respect -- which is something you don't always get in this industry. Heavy Lifters Moving deserves every bit of praise I can give. Larry and Ray are the kind of people you want on your team during a move -- reliable, friendly, and genuinely good at what they do. I'd hire them again without hesitation, and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants a smooth, stress‑free moving experience. Five stars isn't enough. These guys earn ten.

I sent out a moving request on Yelp and received a message promptly regarding price and availability. After getting the necessary information, I went ahead with booking. A couple of days before the move, I saw rain in the forecast and reached out to see if things would still move forward. Rain or shine, everything still went on as planned. Manny and Trey arrived on time and got to work ASAP. They loaded everything on the truck at the two requested locations and headed to Sacramento. Once we got to Sacramento, they started unloading everything. The move was to the 3rd floor of an apartment building with no elevator and down the hall from the stairs. Though it was a tough move, Manny and Trey were both patient, kind, and efficient. They even cracked a few jokes, and we shared some laughs. It began to rain at the end of the move, and they still continued with a positive attitude. I am so grateful for their hard work, amazing service, and dedication to helping me get moved in. They got the job done in under 3 hours through everything. I would 1000% book with Affordable Movers again. I probably overpacked some boxes and assumed certain things would always stay on top. Nothing was seriously damaged or broken, and that's what matters most. I'd definitely recommend them and would use them again.
