Driving by the Denny's near Cortez several weeks ago,made me homesick for L.A. With one on every corner there ( or so it seems), I had no idea they had them in Florida. So I called a friend (also a former Angelinakķ...) and we were off! Nostalgia...was a Grand Slam...They still serve them only they are a LOT more expensive...lol. I drank their coffee pot dry I think (served in retro diner Denny's logo cups) and very pleasant service. I love breakfast ...especially when served after about 10am... I had a smile on my face all day. If you yearn for a well executed full- traditional breakfast, I don't believe this one will disappoint read more

I ordered the country fried steak from here for pickup, I was lenient when I saw my food wasn't ready. Once I got it I drove back home, excited after not eating all day. (It was 3:30pm and I had been up since 6am) anyways, the steak was just a breaded piece of chicken and they were stingy with the gravy. Not to mention my hash-browns were RAW. While dining in this fine morning we were greeted with great service and a smile on top! Our hostess was quick to find a seat and even cleaned our booth tabletop for us before seating. Shortly after being seated, the Happy Go Lucky Toni came through and had an even bigger smile! She was prompt, informative and even helped my little with choosing from their Kids Menu! Tip Top Props for Toni! We ordered French Toast and Pancakes with the SLAM! (If you've ever dined here before you know it's the only way to eat!) If I had to say anything negative it would be that it was very busy when we walked in... but that's not really a negative for Denny's. As I mentioned above our hostess was great! Problem free This Denny's is not rated very high but my visit was not only problem free, it was very good. After waiting in a line for way too long at the neighboring Toys R Us, I was ready for some breakfast. Denny's delivered. I was greeted and seated at a small booth just my size. After looking over the menu I decided on their Grand Slam Slugger, a two of this and two of that kind of a meal. The eggs were done just as I requested, the hash browns had some flavor. The dish came with a juice, I selected orange, and was surprised at the size. Instead of some tiny glass I got a large water glass full of fresh squeezed. My server did an excellent job. The food took about 6 minutes. She warmed my coffee, checked back to see if all was doing ok, and dropped the bill off before I finished so I didn't have to wait. All the things I like. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I placed a mobile app order at 05:45 with a expected pick up of 06:04. I got here at 06:04 and they haven't even started cooking my meal. They proceeded to complain about the overnight cook leaving before my meal was cooked even though the app says "your meal is ready for pick up". Now the current crew is taking zero accountability and they keep complaining about a cook who clearly isn't here anymore. The current cook is now tossing pans and lids loudly out of anger since he's being forced to fix the mess. Now it's 06:40 and they still have zero updates on my order. I asked for a refund but since I paid through the app they apparently can't help me. I asked if they could bring my food curbside since I've waiting so long and they said "we can't do that before 07:00" but with the wait so far it might be 07:00 by the time the food is done which would be a full hour after the expected pick up time. Great place to eat. My server Sandra B. was tentative and fast. Sat down and had me drink immediately and my food I ordered in 2 minutes. These lady's work really hard and this place in BUSY. I heard "thank you for your patience" and "how was everything?" during my time here. Manager was asking in between some areas that need to be cleaning and a girl was sweeping when she could. So, My Grandmother, Mother and younger sister had gone out to eat at this Denny's. When they came back, they told me about the horrible service they have received. They were served by a lady named "Dina" and she had a horrible attitude and such a bad vibe and mood. The food wasn't brought out as it was supposed to. Dina had gotten mad when my mother left a 5$ on the table in which Dina proceeded to yell at My Family that they were supposed to fill out the tip section and that they were supposed to give her a 20% tip and that she is practically "gifting my service" to them. My Family is Hispanic and Both my mother and Grandmother doesn't speak English. She had also stated that this was the reason (customers not understanding English) on why she doesn't like serving our kind, Hispanics in general, and is the reason why she doesn't like to speak Spanish. I've been a manager of restaurants my entire life, this management is the worst I've ever seen. My background I have a culinary degree in arts and business, as well as 4 certifications. I've been a manager/executive chef at every restaurant I've worked at for the past 8 years. This is hands down unacceptable and !ILLEGAL! Now that we have that out of the way here is my review. My mother has been a waitress at this restaurant for the past year or 2, she comes home balling her eyes out every night from the treatment she gets. Tessa (manager): Constantly steals tips blatantly and my mother can't even do anything about it without the risk of her job. Today (the day she quit) Tessa forced my mom to work off the clock while on her break to wait 21 people and then after she did all that give ALL her tips to her (Tessa's) brother "because it is his birthday". That is absolutely disgusting. Dan (manager): a customer placed a pranked order through an app which my mother has zero control over, got beyond pissed at my mom threw the bag at a wall and started yelling at her saying everything was her fault. Both of these managers clearly violated the labor law making her do more than 20% of her time doing "side work" the labor law is in place for waiters and waitresses to still make fair money since they get paid below minimum wage and make up for it with tips, the rule is 80/20, 80% of your time is waiting tables etc and the 20% is dedicated to stuff like silverware and stuff like that. That does not mean she can stay 3 hours after off the clock to do dishes (that's for dishwashers to do first off) second off working off the clock without your free will is fully illegal. I am going to be looking into a lawsuit or settlement this is absolutely disgusting and has ruined my mom emotionally I know you will suppress this review that's why I've posted it on every site and also filed it with the Better Business Bureau. I appreciate the waitresses but this place is a bit gross, I'm just passing through on a road trip and as soon as I came into this place it smelled a little weird.. my coffee had a lip stain like if it wasn't washed. My table was also not clean, I overheard the staff fighting and saying things like "I'll knock you out" while I was sitting, my food took foreverrrrrrr as well as the food of the other patrons.
