The Sarasota location is well maintained with very friendly staff. Our waiter was excellent! Not only knowledgeable of the menu, but very kind and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. On Friday, March 20th, our Church family had a group of 36 diners at Cracker Barrel on Cortez for a noon luncheon. Without a doubt, we had a great experience. Went with a party of 6. Sat and ordered our food at 11am and didn't get the food until 12:45pm. Servers did their best to reassure us but we lost our appetite and patience. Manager was rude and unprofessional, and didn't really provide an explanation on what happened and instead told us he was busy and had to go back into the kitchen. Good food. Professional service and they forgot to put something in my bag I called and they made it right with me.

The food was far from great. Even though they were running a special the restaurant was empty. It took at least 3- 5 minutes to have a hostess come up to seat us. Then the waitress named Abby wasn't very friendly didn't really smile. My daughter ordered the new chicken dish and the waitress pretty much didn't give her the option to choose two sides just forced mashed potatoes which we found out were very dry. The chicken itself was good on one side dry on the other. Then we asked for another side fresh to go she kinda muttered an apology and snatched the plate and the basket of biscuits which we were not done with. We asked for the biscuits back and she said oh I already put it on the plate I'll get you fresh. Mind you the biscuits were in the basket still. Then she disappeared and the manager came out mumbled an apology with a bag of one and a half biscuits as we discovered when we got home. Never saw the waitress again. An old country store and more When you enter this Cracker Barrel, maybe any Cracker Barrel, you will find yourself in a store full of clothes, knickknacks, souvenirs, toys, sports items, just a bunch of things. Their interpretation of a country store. Head to the back left and there you will find the restaurant. The restaurant is large, has a fireplace, a décor of a lot of miscellaneous things. Cracker Barrel is a unique place. The menu is also somewhat unique. Many dishes include grits, they have cornbread, gravy. Many chicken dishes. Their interpretation of southern cooking. I had a Country Fried Steak, that's certainly southern cuisine. Got it with sides of whole kernel corn and a loaded hashbrown casserole. I definitely liked my food. My fried steak was topped with their sawmill gravy, only a few less eatable bites, and the loaded hashbrown casserole with all that cheese is the way to go. This was a great choice for lunch today. Service was friendly and fine, the food took about 15 minutes to arrive after ordering. No cold food here. When you finish you pay for your meal at the cashiers in the store part of Cracker Barrel. The service was fine. The food was not good. We both ordered the roast turkey. It didn't taste very good compared to other visits but the worst part was how dry the turkey was. The person I was eating with could barely eat half of it and when she complained, they only offered to bring out more gravy. The "mashed" potatoes also had a ridiculous amount of lumps. I'm giving 3 stars based on prior experience. My boyfriend and I have eaten at this Cracker Barrel 3-4 times and each has been good, however, tonight was a different story. We aren't exactly sure if it was our server or the kitchen. Our server was slow and food was unevenly cold as if it had been warmed by chef Mike (microwave), but we both recognize that it could be caused from the kitchen, the server, or both. Either way it wasn't a great experience...not even a good one honestly (though the server himself was a nice guy), and we probably won't be back for a while, maybe give the restaurant a chance to figure out where the issue is coming from. read more

Honestly, I have never understood the popularity of Cracker Barrel. I guess my biggest issue has always been that while it attempts to come across as his little piece of southern charm, I would suspect that it is about as southern as a New York City corporate boardroom. And I will also say that it seems that I am in the minority. Most people seem to love this place. I just don't get it. I will say that their breakfasts are not terrible. This was a convenient stop for me to grab a quick breakfast. Service was fine and the food was what you would expect from a national chain attempting to cook a regional l cuisine. My go-to for breakfast is often the chicken fried steak with eggs. Their version is not terrible, but I think I can get a better version from a local mom-and-pop business. Plus, I do like the thought of putting my money into a local economy rather than a corporate boardroom. I do like they're little market that you have to walk through to enter the dining area. It is obviously a marketing approach to separate you from a few more dollars at line their pockets, but they do have some interesting things. Again, most people seem to love Cracker Barrel. If you are one of those fans, please come here. I am sure you will like it. I myself find it tolerable, but nothing extraordinary. I will give it three stars for mediocre. read more

The food came out in 2 minutes from when we ordered. No way in hell it was cooked to order... The food was terrible. The hash browns were cold and chewy. The country ham was not only off... I was given the slab with the bone in my Benedict biscuit dish so it was buried under cold hollandaise sauce. Both of us ordered a side of "thick cut bacon" absolutely laughable. Horrible meal. I ordered Grandpa's Breakfast. The hash browns came out still raw vegetable crunchy. Then they brought out the replacement hash browns and they were burned on the edges. She forgot the gravy which didn't come out until 3/4 of the way through the meal. Someone I was with even said that the weird part is that it is not like they cook the gravy to order. Someone just needed to "scoop me some." So I had biscuits and no gravy for 15 minutes or so. I'm just reminded of why I don't go here. read more

Great service and food if you like this sort of fare. All the workers and managers here are super respectful and very kind and caring. There were 6 of us and an infant being served and everyone received their food together as ordered and with a smile ! The employees here can be used as an example of great customer service!!! Even the young man at the register! I purchased a battery operated toy for my crying granddaughter and asked to purchase batteries for it. There were none to be found in the size I needed but he was kind enough to take them out of another toy and give them to me to make her happy. Are you kidding me? 1st time at this location. 2nd visit to any cracker barrel. Arrived at 7am after deciding to skip the hotel's skimpy breakfast. This was down the road and closer to where we were heading home. There was already about 10 people there but there was only 1 waiter... so we sat there for about a good 10 minutes before any hello... other than that the food was good and filling.
