My parents love coming here when they come to Charlotte because we don't have one in my home town. I got a simple breakfast with pancakes. Very good!

It may be dark and raining cats & dogs but things are bright and dry inside Denny's in Charlotte on Sunset Boulevard.

It is a long and irrelevant story, how I ended up keeping watch over the wee hours of the night in this diner, like those figures in the "Night Owls" painting, I came here to wait on my rental car reservation to go through and shelter from Hurricane Henrietta. Her super-soaking rain buffeted in waves against the plate glass windows. Huge waves of rain splashed in the tomato & grape glow of the neon lights. Denny's menu has a strong selection of typically American fast casual breakfast & lunch choices for everyone Most are familiar like the popular and filling "Grand Slam Breakfast; the French toast is pretty good too. Maybe I will return another time to sample some of the promotional "Beetlejuice"-themed dishes. The biggest factor that sets this particular Denny's apart from others I recall is its friendly and skilled staff attuned to help customers. I had only planned to be here for an hour or so but I ended up spending several hours quite by happenstance. THESE FOLKS made me feel at home with a mug of pretty good coffee. expertly refilled at just at the right time thanks to Ms. Samria's warm hospitality and near-psychic timing. The busy intersection out in front can be somewhat intimidating late at night but the presence of this Denny's Restaurant settles the score a little in favor comfort and a touch of working-class grace. I see this as quite a turnaround recalling headlines from many years ago in a TIME when Denny's didn't try as hard to make EVERYBODY feel welcome alongside their bacon and eggs. But the company's approach has grown and matured, at least I can't bear witness in THIS spot. And the fine people at work here deserve the credit. I suppose Denny deserves to take a bow alongside Virginia Slim when we say: "You've come a long way baby!" (And YES, this one really is OPEN 24 HOURS a day)

Been here twice and staff is friendly. Good Service. Usually, come here for breakfast entrees. Today, saw new menu items definitely had to try their new crepes. Ordered the New Banana Chocolate Hazelnut Crepe breakfast. Two plates came-One with a Crepe- Sliced bananas on top right underneath Hazelnut Chocolate. Filling inside the crepe reminds me of pudding. Second plate came with hash browns, two over easy eggs with two sausages. Yelper's checkin for a treat-Pancake Puppies Sundae. On my, 3 hush puppies with strawberries inside (taste like pancake for sure) with a scoop of ice cream. Denny's menu is pretty extensive that's for sure. Will be back again. Very impressed with their new items.

Terrible service. Waited about an hour and thirty minutes for my food. Not including the time waiting for a seat.

They were adorable. I promise I'm gonna order me some. I was seated and then my friend joined me. I haven't been to first watch in a few years. I see that the menu has grown some. I kept it classy and went with the triathlete. I also had a purple haze as my drink. The food was good it's never too salty or under seasoned. The customer service was awesome and Natalie was just a butterfly. I wanted to take her away with me.

We decided to wait it out, but we ended up waiting longer than 40mins. I know that the employees can't control when customers get done with their food, but for a good 15 minutes about 5 tables sat vacant while dirty, as they could have cleaned those tables and got the waiting parties seated. Me and my grandmother both love the lemon ricotta pancakes. No matter what day or time it is, they always hit the spot. You can tell that they are made from scratch, as they are not rubbery. The thought of ricotta in a pancake can turn some people away, but all it really does is adds delicacy (makes the pancake tender (if that makes sense)). They usually have soft scrambled eggs, but today they were a bit more of a hard scramble and had trouble cutting a bite with a fork. The bacon this time was so hard that it wouldn't really bend like normal bacon would. I would have rather waited a couple more minutes for some better bacon. They do have a drink called the "Pineapple Express" that is always good. I can't really describe the flavor, but I recommend you try it. You'll have to taste for yourself! As a summary, this First Watch is usually great, but this time it was a miss. I wish that they would be more consistent with the quality of the food AND the service, as some servers act like they don't want to be there while others are great.

The food, service, and overall experience have always been top-notch. I don't know how they make their Cajun fries, but I can confidently say they are truly some of the best fries I have ever had! And don't even get me started on the cucumber dill dressing--it is hands-down the best version of this dressing I have ever experienced. Honestly, it is worth visiting for this dressing alone! Menu Favorites: I have never had a dish I didn't like here. My standout favorites and absolute go-tos are: The What It Is pasta, Penne Athena, Chicken breast sandwich, Reuben, and Chicken breast salad. They feature a great selection of drinks to pair with your meal, including an excellent variety of cocktails, wine, and both international and local craft beers. Parking is definitely a challenge and there's no outdoor seating, but once you settle in with a cold beer and some comfort food, you kind of forget about all of that. We shared a fresh salad, split a burger with crispy onion rings, and finished with a huge slice of carrot cake that absolutely delivered. I also had a giant Hefeweizen that hit the spot perfectly. The food is simple, hearty pub fare done well. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and everything feels approachable and unpretentious. If you're looking for flashy, this probably isn't your place. But if you want a relaxed neighborhood tavern with solid food, good drinks, and character, Alexander Michael's is worth a visit. Life's too short to not eat well, Charlotte.

If you don't know what they are and want to know, look it up. Anyway - after picking up the rental car, first stop was for food here at Sunflower Family Restaurant. Parking here was tight. Place was hopping and the lot was full. I was lucky to pull in as someone was walking to their car so I was in. Just grateful for cameras on the car as the lot is tight and the spaces are narrow. At least it's free. Walked in and there's a line - all were waiting for take out so we were able to bypass them all and was seated right away. Good thing too as the place was just packed. Not an empty table when I went to the restroom or when we were leaving. Service was great. Team effort. Several different team members provided service. From taking your order to refills as follow up and general questions. They were busy but still took time to make sure everyone was taken care of. I say that not that I was in a big party - I meant other tables too. And the food was nice, simple and good. See pics. I wanted the meat gravy I hadn't had in a long time. Then some protein and grits of course. I cleared the plate but couldn't polish off the grits. I was so full on the sweetened ice team that there was no room for anything else. Even the tea hits different in the south, compared to California. Not saying this is the best food you'll ever have but it'll definitely be decent comfort food. Inexpensive and simple.
