Decided to finally check out the new Dennys. Was extremely disappointed! Waited for 10 minutes for no one to take our order. There were 5 seated tables in our section (and 6 empty) with 3 waitresses, but not one ever approached our table. I went in search of the hostess or a manager, but could find none. My husband convinced me to wait a little longer, but I started listening to the conversations at other tables and could see their frustration of not yet receiving their food, so we finally left. I was really looking forward to trying out the eggs in a basket too! As we left, I noticed that the lobby was full of patrons waiting to be seated. There should have been no wait as there were plenty of empty tables available in all areas. What a shame - they will also fail due to bad service just like Ruby Tuesdays did in this same location. read more

Lazt, incompetent, argumentive, couldnt-be-bothered management. Long wait time. Party of 8. We were seated after the two parties who arrived after us. Our drinks and one small appetizer came out--and then we didn't see a human for almost a half hour. The two parties who were there after us were served and finished with their meals before we were even served. In fact, we were never served the entire hour we had been there. They didnt even give us refills, silverware, or take the dirty appetizer plate off the table. As people in my group were considering walking out, I decided to go up to the register counter and ask what was going on. Four people were standing there idly, including the manager, who ignored me. Finally one girl asked me if I needed help. I said, "No, hon, not from you. I want the manager." Enter lazy shift manager Joe, who had been standing around all day, and acted totally surprised when I asked for him. He walked back to the table with me and then went to check on the food. He came back and said it was coming in a minute. One of my friends started on about how we watched the other two parties be served and finish their food even though they both came in after us and one of them was larger than us. Joe tried claim the restaurant was super busy and throw the server under the bus for putting the order in late. If shit was soooo busy as Joe claims, then his ass should have been there expediting orders and refilling drinks, not watching his wait staff struggle. Instead, Joe stood behind the counter the entire time because the restaurant was DEAD except for the 3 parties that were seated. When my people told Joe we were thinking of leaving, I asked, "How do you want to handle this? If we walk out now, she (the server) loses good money. We're a party of 8." Joe actually had the NERVE to ask *me* what *I* wanted to do. I said to him, "you're the manager. This problem is for you to handle. You're in charge and it's your girl who is losing money." He came back at me with, "Do you want a discount," clearly implying that I was trying to pull a fast one and get free food. At this point, we decided to walk out. He had a million excuses to go with his shit attitude, but not one apology or solution. He just kept trying to argue and deny that there was even a problem to begin with. I had to ask Joe 3 times for his manager's name. First he told me Mark, then he wrote down Juan on a piece of receipt paper. I'm calling up there tomorrow morning to speak with whoever is in charge, so we'll see if it's Mark or Juan. We still tipped the server for her time. read more

Brittany 1 f did an amazing job taking care of our dining experience. Always attending to our needs. Food was hot, and wonderful.

Super happy dennys is in essex now. Waitresses are the best. We lucky to get a new all night place its exactly what i was looking for.

I came into dennys last night with 5 of my friends and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We had Shirley as a server and she was awesome! She was friendly, attentive, and answered every question we had with confidence and her experience was apparent. We will be back soon. Thanks Shirley and Denny's. read more

I am soo happy that Dennys is in the neighborhood!!! I have to give this a five star review. We came at 2 am and was expecting to have half assed service and crappy food but I was wrong. Even with only one waitress working she was busy but was very attenative and experienced. This Dennys as been open about a week, I think (3/6/18). This is my first visit. The food is great. My Server's name is Shirley. She was attentive, courteous and experienced. The Manager, Joe, came by to see if we had any concerns. All the staff is polite. Some of the staff is a little disorganized; but I think that will resolve soon. Seated quickly. Ordered T-bone, club sandwich and two kids meals. Kitchen is super slow! 35 minutes later still no food. Pass this place by. Owner must not care, managers are not interested. read more

Food is good but the service is very slow. However they made sure that everything is alright. One group of 3 beside our table left because of the slow service though and that's sad to see. read more

Horrible service .. waited 30 minutes before the waitress asked us what we would like to drink .. once our food came we had no silverware no napkins . Forgot my sons sides , my husbands pancakes and my daughters bacon . We will NOT RETURN read more

Very pleasant experience for the most part. The host staff needs some work but after being seated things got a lot better. Our waitress Kim was very pleasant and attentive. Our food came out hot and correct (I am a very picky person) . would recommend Dennys to everyone!!! Ask for Kim! read more

A new restaraunt will take a while to find their way that us to be expected. Our first visit was terrible. The server was awful and the food took 30 minutes to come out cold..i was gonna give one star and write them off..however I live close so I gave it another shot.. I am glad I did..we had an great experience all because of our server Michael.. they have at least one server who knows what he is doing lol..i suggest asking for him you can tell he is experienced and he was super friendly..i know he will be who I ask for in the future..give them a chance to get going and ask for Michael he will take care of you. read more

This was our first visit and we will not be coming back! Our experience started with waiting for 20 minuets for a server to come to our table and get our drink order, by the time they came to the table we were ready to order diner and drinks. We ordered and waited over a hour for our food and with a hungry child. In this waiting time the server never came to ask us if we needed anything nor did she apologized for the wait. When the food came out, my dinner was cold. So we waited over an hour for cold food. Along with the cold food, we were served RAW CHICKEN!! This is a big no no especially for my sister who ordered it, who will have been hospitalized if she ate it( she has a weak immune system)! At this point we were very upset and sent the food back and asked for the check. No one came to our table to apologize for the raw chicken, and they did not bring us the check. We had to go to the front to get the check. When we asked for the check, it seemed a little pricey. Upon first glance we could tell it was wrong. It was not even our check! We finally got our check and was able to leave this atrocity of a restaurant! Not once did anyone apologize to us or do anything to correct their error! Please think twice about coming here, the service and the food is terrible! read more
