So I haven't been to a Denny's in years and my mom wanted a BLT. Seems the menu is a lot smaller now and the amount of food is a lot less. The service was pretty good and the ambiance wasn't too loud. Even with the area being full, I found it relatively acceptable in terms of noise. It is always important, especially when you take someone who wears hearing aids. The food was ok. My omelette seems a bit thin, as the eggs were not fluffy. The amount of ingredients inside weren't too bad. I think it was more the eggs that seemed to be lacking as they were a bit deflated. This Denny's spot across from Mile Square Park has been a favorite diner for me over the years. I've gone here for their yummy buttermilk pancakes (breakfast served all day), late night outings with friends, good 'ol diner classics like Meatloaf and Spaghetti when everywhere else seems closed. Service is great whether you dine-in or take-out. Hugo, the manager here - seems to always be working, even on Thanksgiving when I last stopped by - and is a friendly face to greet you when you come in. The rest of the staff here are friendly, like Sahiry (sp?) who always checks in on me when I dine-in for coffee refills - warm and genuine care and service. Restrooms are clean, booths and the interior are also well maintained. After what was a disastrous Thanksgiving at home, I found my way over to this Denny's to get an order of their Thanksgiving dinner plate to go. Don't knock on the Denny's Thanksgiving Turkey Plate - it's pretty decent for the cost and what you get. Generous slices of turkey, stuffing, real mashed potatoes, and broccoli. What I really like about Denny's is their takeout game is at a whole different level. It's none of the boring Styrofoam that gets stuff all over the place. The takeout container is multi-level, and designed to keep food separated as intended. This keeps food fresher, and provides a great presentation for takeout. Plenty of parking up front and behind the restaurant - I actually prefer the parking lot entrance/exit behind this Denny's, as opposed to the more messy one near Ini - as you don't have to be on the lookout for people who are trying to pull a u-turn from Brookhurst, instead of turning into the plaza. Saw a few nearmisses here in my short visit. This is my favorite Denny's - always a great go-to spot when craving pancakes! read more

Always loved waffle with fresh fruits, so ordered waffle with blue berries and strawberries. Surprise! the waffle was so hard, tasted terrible, it was NOT freshly made like Norm's. I had a few bite, could not even complain to my friend cuz it was nice of him to treat me. I forced down a few bites just could not finish. Asked chapgpt how could waffle be so hard, it says they probably precooked and keep under heat lamp, made them so hard and dry. Who knows how long it has been sitting there? Denny's is the perfect late night spot for me and my friends when we're craving something warm and hearty. Of course, we come not expecting the food be up to a Michelin star restaurant but it definitely hits the spot (sometime i find myself thinking about the wild alaskan salmon in the middle of the day) But what makes every visit more and more memorable is Patty, the sweetest server known to mankind. I can't stress enough the love and care she puts towards each conversation with her customers. I've only been to Denny's twice at night and I think it says enough when I remember her on my second visit. Looking at Denny's as we drove home on Brookhurst and since it is a fish day Friday, we decided to try the new offering here of Fish and Chips. The lovely missus and I were served attentively by Armando. I chose a scoop of the Denny's mashed potato rather than the nicely cut thick French fries. It was a good meal of three battered fish portions and Broccoli for the vegetable. Two sliced garlic butter toast was also on a side dish. There was enough of a portion for the missus to ask for a container to take home. My dinner meal was a perfect portion and as much as I like a sweet dessert, we decided to skip the treat. I just wanted some fried eggs, toast, and hash browns. A TV ad announced Denny "slams" starting at $5.99. I remembered their once upon a time ad "$1.99 you're out of your mind!" slams way back when. These specials are all day. I came here in late afternoon on Sunday. White toast comes with this 2 egg special but he gave me wheat. The eggs tasted great on top of the buttered toast. I'm a picky eater, but one of my favorite dishes from D is the Bourbon Chicken Skillet. I've been eating the same thing for 10 years. Today was my first time at this location, and there was only one waitress working, but she was very nice and friendly. However, the food is what concerns me. It was the worst chicken skillet I've ever tasted. They served it plain (no bourbon sauce), so I thought it was just steamed vegetables with grilled chicken. I had to ask for the sauce and mix it in myself, then pour it over the chicken. To my surprise, the chicken tasted like it had been soaked in salt water. I don't know, man. I used to love Denny's growing up. Now it's just overpriced for the food they serve, and the quality isn't what it used to be. I still remember the $1.99 "Are You Outta Your Mind" Grand Slams from back in the day -- those were the glory days. These days, the hash browns usually come out overburnt (and probably carcinogenic at this point), the over-easy eggs are cooked past runny, the fried fish in the fish and chips tastes stale and chewy, and the omelettes don't even have enough filling -- even the "meatlovers" ones. To top it off, the iced tea tastes watered down. At least the parking lot is still wide open... though that's probably because no one really goes here anymore. read more

Decided to take the family back to the Denny's I used to frequent over 20+ years ago when I used to live in the area. The interior decor has obviously gone thru an upgrade since the 90's and looks great. There was an initial strong odor of possibly cleaning product as soon as we walked but it went away eventually or we just got used to it. Service was friendly but a little slow likely due to not enough staff? Our waitress was nice but seemed very busy as the only one working in our area. Our food arrived without any utensils and she was gone before we realized it. From the moment we walked in, Joseph greeted us with a warm smile and positive energy that instantly made us feel welcome. He was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, refilled our drinks before we even had to ask, and made great recommendations from the menu (the Moons Over My Hammy hit the spot!). You can tell he genuinely cares about his customers and takes pride in what he does. Even when the restaurant got a little busy, Joseph handled everything with calm professionalism and a great sense of humor. He really went above and beyond to make sure our meal was perfect. I usually don't leave reviews but I'm African American , dreads, tall, I usually go in right before I hoop or go on my morning runs. About a month ago I went in to use the restroom like I've had plenty of times before guy name Leo stops me says the restroom was only for customers , I told him he's the first and only employee who has ever said that to me which is when he said it was fine for me to use the restroom . That experience made me feel uncomfortable so I stayed away from the restaurant for a month . Today I came back to use the restroom, Leo with no issues lets me use the restroom but I made sure to bring in money for I knew exactly who he was. After my work out , I came back, asked to use the restroom one last time before I headed home and he tells me I have to be a customer , so I pull out cash offering to buy something and then he says "it's fine you can use the restroom ", not sure if he thinks I'm homeless but It gave me a sense of feeling unwanted and if I was going to purchase a meal anywhere it wouldn't be from a place that made me feel this way. Now he is the only one that's made me feel this way , and the first time I figured it was a bad day, but now I believe it's just him and sad thing I think his tag said manager lol although I appreciate him allowing me to use the restroom I just didn't appreciate the struggle to do so, HES THE ONLY EMPLOYEE WHO GIVES ME A HARD TIME, and if spending money is a issue , I am a working man, I will buy a few pancakes if that means I get to use the restroom . read more

Okay listen!! Dennys is just your typical late-night diner. The food is pretty good, just the usual pancakes, eggs, sausages, skillets, etc. However, if you come on a lucky day and see Patty, she will turn a 7/10 experience to a 11/10 experience. She takes the time to converse and get to know her customers. It's so rare for restaurants, especially diners, to have employees with such professionalism and care towards their customers. Very disappointed that they no longer do the birthday meal with your ID. They said you have to receive it via email which I never did. They are extremely overpriced now compared to Norms or other local cafes for breakfast. It was pretty busy when we were there and the server was nice. They say they are open 24/7. I showed up cause I just got back in town and was hungry at 11:30pm. The restaurant was full of patrons and when I went inside the female night manager said sorry we are closed. When I asked if that was a new thing since they are normally open she said it's because they are understaffed. The feeling I got is they just didn't want to work. Can Dennys please make a sign with the proper hours of operation. I figure if they close early that is going to be lost profits. Made a doordash pickup order at this Denny's. I got a build your own grand slam with pancakes. Upon coming home, I realized that they didn't include butter and syrup. Not a big deal. However, as I was eating my pancakes, I bit into something hard. I spit it out and found a piece of metal. There were multiple small metal pieces that looked like they came from steel wool. Maybe from cleaning a grill or something It was all embedded into my pancakes. I contacted the Denny's and was unable to get ahold of the manager... only the supervisor who was only able to offer a recook of my food. This is unacceptable. Pieces of metal could cause tears in my digestive tract. I hope that no one else eats whatever was made on that grill and gets sick. I didn't want to eat any of my meal after this incident. read more
