Not sure if the almost 5 stars is based on the cocktails only. Ambiance: place is loud expect a lot of dishes/kitchen noise. It has a nice outdoor area. Service: it was alright they were very fast on siting us. We left the coffees as they came and the server did not even bother to inquire about it (says a lot) Food: The English muffin was phenomenal very fresh and crispy eggs and potatoes were ok the sauce was not something to die for. Was here on a Wednesday and the special for that day was alfredo and garlic toast for 11.99 and a glass of wine for half off. Skipped the wine and got the good deal. Creamy, savory goodness. Hubby and I shared the Irish tots which is super yum although they could have done better with the portion of cheese. Plenty of bacon and bits of cheese here and there w/the tater tots. What a fun place. I had seen Mama's on 39 before but never had the opportunity to stop by. I am so glad we did. My friend recommended it and so we decided to go check it out. It was on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was buzzing with activity. There were plenty of people sitting at the bar, and a lot of the tables had multiple people in their parties. We got seated right away, and it only took moments for our server to come by and ask us about drinks. We both ordered a couple ice teas and water, and enjoyed the ambiance. One of the nice things about this place is it definitely has a hometown vibe to it. Like seriously, you feel like you are in someone's home rather than a restaurant. The food came to the table very quickly, and it was very delicious! My friend had the tuna melt and a side salad, it looked huge! You definitely get your bang for the buck here! I opted for something slightly lighter, so I ordered the half Caesar salad with chicken. Chicken. Let me tell you something, I'm glad I ordered the small cuz I can't imagine how huge this salad would be as a large! The chicken breast on top nearly covered the entire bowl of salad! Came here on a Sunday around 2:00, we sat in the bar area. We had JUST gotten happy hour since it's 2-6 EVERYDAY which is awesome. My Pacifico was only $5! My boyfriend and I ordered the carne asada fries and a Hash-a Burrito. The carne asada fries were cooked perfectly, had an amazing crunch and this cheese on top that was so yummy and creamy. The hash a burrito had roasted potatoes that were perfection and we asked for a salsa on the side. The salsa wasn't spicy but it added good taste. The bartender was nice and checked on us frequently but he was also bartending as well so he was busy. The over all feel of the place is very spacious, you could see ALL the tables in the place and it was very modern and clean. They even have a Thrifty's ice cream inside! This is such a great spot. We had no idea it was here, and thanks to Yelp, we found it and are so glad we did. It's got a super cozy breakfast vibe. There is a bar, full of people chatting, and lots of seating and booths. They had some TV's around, if that's what you're into, but it doesn't feel at all like a sports bar. It's just cozy. The whole menu is available all day. And it is a BIG menu. Everyone will find something they like. We got the basics: pancakes, eggs and bacon and then a BLT with an egg added. The sandwich has great quality bread. It wasn't cheap flimsy bread. The aioli on it was flavorful and clearly not from a jar. I opted for the house made chips. They were light and crispy and fantastic. The portions of everything are pretty big! A great value. I love they have a caddy with all the things including ketchup, hot sauce, syrup and S&P. I hate having to ask for each of those. Especially at a breakfast spot. They are known for their Bloody Mary. I opted for the bubbles in a michelada. The flavor was great. This place used to be decent, unfortunately it's gone to crap. The restaurant is hot inside because they don't run the air conditioning, I was literally sweating. We should have left before it started though. We stood by the host desk for 10 minutes until we were acknowledged even though they were dead and employees just staring at us almost like a warning to leave. The drinks suck, they changed their pineapple spicy margaritas to cucumber but didn't update the menu so I got something I didn't like or order. My kids ordered chicken fettuccine and it's un flavored boiled chicken. Garlic fries are just soggy fries with seasoning tossed on as an afterthought. For what they charge it should be much better. The entire place was filthy dirty. The bathroom has piss on the floors and obviously never gets cleaned. Truck stops are cleaner. This has all the signs of a failed business and piss poor management. I feel bad for the waiter. He was cool and sweating his ass off. The customers and employees deserve better. read more

Chorizo Scramble - $21.99 (8/10) After an hour and a half workout, I was craving something hearty and a little indulgent. This definitely hit the spot. The scramble had the perfect amount of chorizo mixed with bell peppers and melted cheese, so every bite was flavorful. It came with home potatoes that were perfectly seasoned and freshly crispy--no soggy vibes here. It also came with a biscuit (which I skipped since I'm not a biscuit fan), but it's there if you're looking for extra carbs. BBQ Chicken Salad - $22.99 (9/10) We ordered this to share since it looked and sounded so good--and it did not disappoint. It came with chicken tenders, romaine lettuce, corn, black beans, tomatoes, and crispy onion strings, all tossed in BBQ ranch. He then took our beverage order and when he brought them back shortly asked us if we had any questions about the menu. After taking our food order he came back to check on us. First time at Mama's On 39 so he went over the menu with us and informed us of Mama's specialties. Our order consists of appetizers and main dishes. They were Carne Asada Fries and Korean BBQ Pork Tots for appetizers. Both appetizers had good portion sizing for our party of 5. We still had leftovers. Carne Asada Fries were crispy, cheesy with guacamole and salsa. The Korean BBQ Pork Tots were crispy yet mushy inside. It was flavorful and the pork was tender and not overcooked. For the main dishes we ordered from Mama's Specialties. Tutt's Fried Chicken, Monte Cristo, Penne Pesto, Old Fashioned Benedict and Weezie's Wonder Waffle along with Cafe Mocha and Americano. Tutt's Fried Chicken was delicious. 2 huge deep fried chicken breast. Crispy on the outside but tender and not overcooked on the inside. The roasted potatoes were a good pair to Tutt's Fried Chicken. This meal also came with vegetables such as onions, green, red and yellow bell peppers. The roasted potatoes were not too salty which we enjoyed. Filled with scrambled eggs, mama's potatoes, grilled veggies, cheddar cheese, and seasoned pork. Served with a homemade salsa. Yummy. Husband had the meatloaf sandwich, looked huge and delicious but could be a little more moist little on the dry side. Garlic French fries Lots of garlic (yummy).
