We actually stopped here because my wife remembered the location as a truck stop diner. She recalls bringing her newly born daughter here (now 46 with kids of her own). This building has been a few things since then of course. This Denny's, unlike some of them, was a good looking place, clean, good colors, not so much "corporate idea of a diner". Our server Allecia, was excellent. She was effective, charming, knowledgeable about the area and building history. She took the time to have a quick chat with my wife about her experience (8yrs) with the location. Our food was well executed, I had a double burger (was planning a salad but saw the menu picture), she got a Super Bird ( a turkey sandwich with cheese, bacon and tomato. The fries were nicely done. I ordered this through Uber Eats one night with my family on our recent trip. We were starving after hours on the road and we wanted a large meal. It was late at night and we had an early morning flight to catch in Columbus Airport. Cold, Greasy and practically inedible. We had ordered some chicken tenders, and two grand slams. one star is too good for our experience.. we go there and stand for a couple minutes with no one even looking at u.... two older ladies in front of us having trouble standing up and a guy behind us.. The GM finally came out and got everyone to seats.. as we were being walked to the very back.. EVERY. EMPTY. TABLE. Had dirty dishes..... every single one. When she brought the food out initially, I told her that it was the incorrect order and she debated with me about what I told her I wanted. Not ok. Had a great breakfast this morning with the wife and our bill was just under $30. I had a $50 gift card in my wallet that the wife had gotten me in September for our anniversary. I told the waitress Landon to keep the remaining $20 as a tip but when I tried to use the gift card it said zero balance. I paid for our bill by credit card and gave Landon a $20 bill for her tip. She asked if we wanted her to just throw the gift card away and we said yes but when we got home my wife found the receipt for the gift card and we went back to Dennys where they told us the trash had already been taken out to the trash compactor. Upon hearing our plea the manager Bill saw that we were willing to go dumpster diving and he purchased a new $50 gift card for us at his expense. Thank you sooooo much manager Bill for making our trip back to the restaurant not in vain and for making us happy customers. And since you replaced our gift card for us you know that we'll be back. I rarely leave bad reviews. I tip exceedingly well, I think. Usually 50-100% tip. This place may have gourmet food for all I know. I will never find out. They ghosted me. One thing I find abhorrent is bad service. Staff walked past me several times, seemed to go out of their way not to acknowledge me. They stood about 10 feet away talking to some woman, I looked at them. Nothing. I was a ghost. So after a few minutes of this I got up and left. Some would say I should have said something. Wrong. I found out a long time ago if the service is bad just leave. Vote with your wallet. Plus if you say something you never know if some simp is going to go "White Knight" or "Captain save a ho" and you will always look like the bad guy. Just walk out. Am I angry, no. This location always seems to have the nicest servers. The restaurant was out of a lot of food- French toast, whole grain pancakes, coke- but our server was kind and apologetic which softened the blow. Ok, yes it's out of my way and yes it's a truck stop, but every so often I get a craving. I love breakfast and while this is the greatest, it is comforting, which I think says a lot. Service was the absolute worst! Waitresses suck, no one even comes to your table for the first 20 mins. No manager in sight. The tables are dirty, food all over the floor. This place was packed and I honestly thought it would take forever to get my strawberry smoothie to go, but Dawn had it out to me in 3 minutes flat. We've visited this location several times in last 4 years. Service is up and down. More down than up. I've been with a group and had the "hostess" dump the menus in a pile on a semi clean table ..more than once. And flatware doesn't show up till after food delivery and rarely enough. I've taken from tables that were cleaned and set up. Tip: When a table is cleaned can the salt and pepper be wiped as well? I've eaten their twice, the first time wasn't to bad. I ordered the Lumber Jack Special. The second time I ordered brisket with white gravy and bacon. They do not know how to make white gravy, it tasted like flower and water mixed. One taste and I gave it back to the waitress and told her I could not eat that. The bacon was not cooked so I sent it back so they could finish cooking it. I hate that I had to do this but I hate it more to pay for something that I can't eat. I've ALWAYS liked Denny's and in all the years that I've been frequenting this place, I've only had one bad experience and that was in New Orleans many years ago. I'm surprised that with a city the size of Columbus, that there's only one Denny's. Luckily for me, this one is closest to my house. Now, my preferred breakfast place will ALWAYS be the Waffle House (it's a Southern thang), Denny's is running a close second. I like the availability of the different items on the menu and I believe this one is open 24 hours! I ordered the Ultimate Breakfast Skillet and the only reason why I didn't give this review 5 stars was because of the portion size of the meal. Maybe the cook was new and was unsure about the size of the skillets but, this one wasn't as large as they normally are. All in all, it's a wonderful experience at a wonderful Americana restaurant and definitely worth the drive. read more

Hit Denny's for dinner tonight and am I glad we did. Had a half order of nachos, came fresh and fast. I had the Sticky Bun pancakes with eggs, hash browns and bacon. Everything was hot and fresh and the pancakes were amazing!! Hubby ordered the steak with sautéed zucchini and cheddar mashed potatoes and he was very pleased. (I got to try a bite of his steak and it was very juicy and tender.) We don't get here very often but when we do, we've had consistently good food and service. In these trying times where nobody seems to want to work during COVID-19, we've all got to be patient, because restaurants are stealing employees from other restaurants and some people were rubbed so raw by customers' demands that there are staff shortages in every area of dining establishments all over Ohio. Even so, Denny's out east, by the Flying J on I-70 east outside Columbus, OH have served us some great meals every since we've ventured out after isolation (we are high risk health-wise). I'd like to tell everyone that Denny's by Millersport/Baltimore, OH (I-70 east) is serving the great meals that Denny's restaurants are known for. The waitress was apologetic about short-staffing and our wait to get our meals, however, the food was done to perfection and our waitress was the best! The food was hot and delicious, the beverages were hot/cold as they should be, and refills and the waitressing was attentive as she fulfilled our dining needs. We had a clean table, and the interior of the Denny's was in good shape. Our waitress did a real good job, so we tipped her well. It's not anyone's fault that times are a little rougher due to coronavirus. Appreciate all your waiters/waitresses and local businesses in your area. They want you to come back and see them. They work as hard as you do, so give them respect. And come back to Denny's. I think everybody knows Denny's. It's fast, close and quick. I order carefully, so it's also pretty cheap, but because it's adjacent to the truck plaza, there are some enticing, overpriced items as well. The food is reasonably good, fresh enough with few surprises. I agree with another reviewer who said their server wasn't too spiffy. They do run the gamut here, but to be fair, we're out in the sticks and not a lot of great servers want to come all the way out here for diner tips. All in all, I think you're going to be satisfied.
