On the way to Pfeifer Falls Trail at Big Sur, we wanted to have some breakfast before climbing up the trail. We found this one on the way and we stopped by. It's on one way street which we didn't know it has a parking lot so we parked on the street because we don't want to u-turn if we missed the parking lot. Anyhow, the restaurant is nice and clean, also showed its age a little. We're seated right away, the server was extremely attentive and pleasant, wonderful. We love the superslam from Denny's the last time we tried after years of missing it. We both ordered the superslam as usual, everything came out perfectly cooked. We're quite happy. The hash browns were our favorite because we can't make them, always crispy outside and moist inside. The butter pan cakes, the crispy bacons, the sausages and scrambled eggs were excellent. A perfect breakfast before a hike. Denny's now is our official breakfast restaurant LOL.

Busy! North Fremont Street area is the less expensive "Hotel Row" near the Monterey County fairgrounds.

I really appreciate this business, being open 24/7. A warm friendly place to go, when needed. Very American cuisine, especially delicious breakfast items: with a 55+ smaller portion and prices option. They also honor AAA, AARP discount deals: if you are a card carrier member. Thank you very much! App special offers are available. Like complimentary birthday Grand Slam breakfast, yummy! This location is not as modern as others, but the location on a motel row, keeps it convenient and easy to use.

Love love love Dennys! So many great options to choose from at a good price, great coffee and excellent service. Love the old times feel and the nostalgia I have of growing up and coming here as a kid

You tell me if I'm full is shit and just exaggerating

Showed up at 1am , they said it was a 30 minute wait because the cook was going to take a lunch break, it is now 1:50 am and not one person has came to help up . The server said they do not know when he will be back and here we are waiting like idiots to get served . I guess it's not 24/7 since we havnt been served for nearly an hour . There is a worker just lounging with a beer with another employee . My question is, is that the damn cook ? Fkn BS

I ordered eggs, with sausage, hashbrowns, and pancakes to go. The eggs were cooked perfectly (over medium). The hashbrowns were browned well and good. The sausage was almost inedible -- the quality is awful. It tastes like you are just eating fat with no flavor. The pancakes were alright. I'm giving three stars because the service was very quick. It was ready in less than 10 mins. But overall, just ok.

Best damn breakfast I've had. 10/10

Sooo yummy. 10/10 best breakie I've had in years. Will go back again every time I'm here.

Denny's before 17-Mile Drive Can't say our experience was bad but also not the best... but it's Denny's, can't expect much. Came here for breakfast, the restaurant was packed and it took awhile for us to be seated. We got a table. Staff was busy running around: serving, bussing, cleaning, perhaps short-staffed. Came here for breakfast before starting our drive to Carmel. Our server came and took our orders, although we had ample time to look at the menu we felt a little rushed while placing our orders. I chose the Triple Double Slam -- two buttermilk pancakes (or choice of one slice of French toast or a biscuit & gravy), bacon and eggs. Simple but filling and everything was yummy. Hubby got the All-American Slam. Average Denny's. Solid option for breakfast. The cashier who rang our tab was super nice. Review #2595

After walking on the pier we were kinda worried about finding a decent spot to eat. So glad we gave it a try. Walking in there were like 3 other parties walking in so that was encouraging. It gave off Hawaiian/tiki vibes and was inviting. They have a 3 course special 4-5 pm for like $30. My husband and I picked that, I had the teriyaki chicken bowl and he had bbq ribs. The salad had a delicious dressing and had to eat every morsel. Both the main courses were really good. My grandson ordered the steak and ate every bite of the whole meal. Kai (the waiter) was very nice and gave us some advice on what to see along the route. I got an amazing picture that I blew up to hang in our room. Totally recommend giving this place a try!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and genuine hospitality. Our server, Paula, was a class act and great at what she does. We loved the poke chips and lilikoi buns. My wife had the halibut, my daughter had the chicken nuggets and fries, and I had the ribeye. The Mai Tai and Chi Chi were outstanding. The highlight of the night was when Paula surprised our daughter with a shaved ice dessert and dry ice presentation. It was her last day of 2nd grade, and we were celebrating the start of summer before she heads into 3rd grade. The smile on her face was priceless. Earlier in the day we experienced some poor customer service elsewhere, so this was a great reminder of what true hospitality looks like. Great food, great drinks, and even better service. Thank you, Paula, for helping make a special family memory. We'll definitely be back.

The halibut special was mouthwatering, and according to our son, he would eat the ribs daily. Our daughter ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and it could have fed an army. For dessert we tried the skillet cookie and mousse, and once again, and they were delicious. If food is good but the service is mediocre, it ruins the entire experience. However, the staff checked on us about every two minutes, and even brought a small dish of water and extra napkins for our son who was eating ribs. We'll be back...very soon. There was a family of three that came 15 mins after we did... we barley got one round (no waters, the bus boy served us waters, waiter over worked) they got two rounds plus there food. Mind you there was only two of us. There was a table of 4 that were behind us, they got their food, ate and we still didn't have our food. Worst service I've ever had I am from the Bay Area where we are over populated and use to waiting. It wasn't the wait, it was how disrespectful the wait became. DONT OPEN THE 12 doors just walk away.... Not to mention they didn't even give me my damn truffle fries, didn't even have the heart to ask and wait another hour for them to fix it. Thanks for the strong drink, it was greatly needed!

We chose Old Fisherman's Grotto, and where we were encouraged by the friendly hostess to wait just a bit so she could give us a prime view table. Once seated, Justino our server very knowledgeably reviewed the specials and made some recommendations. We ordered drinks, and then a large platter of calamari and grilled artichokes was brought to our table. We politely explained that we hadn't ordered it, but were told that it was compliments of the house. We agreed that it was among the best calamari and artichokes we had ever had. In addition, warm, freshly baked sourdough bread and butter was provided as well. We ordered our dinners, which were beautifully prepared and presented, as well as being extremely generous portions. I can honestly say that it was an exceptional meal and reasonably priced as well. As we finished our entrees, Chris the owner stopped by our table to ask if we had enjoyed our dinners. He said that his parents had opened the restaurant 76 years ago, and it continued to be a family owned and operated business. I looked forward to writing this review, because this dinner was that rare experience where ambiance, service, food preparations and portions, and a bit of history made for a truly special and memorable dining experience.

Yet the ambiance, service, and food are very good! I love the various aspects of the decor, as well. Other than parking challenges on a busy night in the downtown, we were lucky to get a table for 5 relatively quickly, as this place isn't that large, with some additional bar seating, and it seems very popular. 5:30 was a great time, as we watched the waiting line grow longer after we were seated. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.
