I ordered from grubhub. They took over 20 minutes to even start cooking my food. My poor grubhub driver was waiting there forever, practically apologizing her butt off for my order being late. I told her it was the restaurant's fault, not hers. Anyway, when the food finally got here, the seasoned fries I paid extra for, weren't there. Just regular. And one of the tomato slices on my burger was the very top of the tomato with the stem butt still on it. The burger was a dripping wet mess I had to eat with a fork. The driver had expressed that one of the staff members was very critical/judgemental of people with alternative lifestyles which explains the poor service (because all lifestyles are a little different, right?). I feel bad that she had to watch like a hawk as my food was prepared and it still wasn't satisfactory. read more

Wow, me writing a review for a Denny's? The running joke between me and my SO is that he only ever used to be able to take his ex out to Denny's because all she ever wore were PJs, and they couldn't go anywhere nicer. Anyway, we were in a rush for breakfast Sunday morning. I think this building is from about 1960 and hasn't been updated since, but that's OK because the service was the best I've had at a Denny's. There were a ton of people waiting when we first got there but we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. We got our drinks and menus right away, and ordered our food a few minutes later. The belgian waffle was amazingly delicious... though apparently they charge for the yummy, gooey strawberry topping. Oh well. We were in and out in about 40 minutes. I'll take my time eating at restaurants around here, but when I'm in Monterey I have way more important things to do! read more

Wow! Worst service ever in a restaurant. I do not believe any of them received any training. No "hello ", no "thank you", no people interacting . I asked for crispy bacon, had to send it back because it was chewy only to be brought back to the table still chewy! I sent it back and requested it be taken from my bill! Dennys are generally a place I avoid eating at. To be blunt... ***I'm going to be graphic here, so for those with weak constitutions, skip this part and jump down to the next set of asterisks! Whenever I eat at Denny's restaurants...and its been many times over the years...my first bite of food is usually on an express train OUT of my body BEFORE the last bite of food is on the way in! Nope...I am not kidding...and my Son and Ex wife experience the same thing. To be fair, its not that the food is unsafely prepared or the restaurants are filthy...just something about...well...I've no clue, it eludes me. Moving on! ***So, this particular Denny's is one where the above mentioned issues haven't struck me...not once, so far! The servers here are a bit "hit or miss" in terms of how good the service is but none have ever been rude...just disinterested. Most of the menu is basic Denny's...this is not the place to get a steak...or pasta...most of those menu items are mediocre at best. Here's what I've found to be good...if not great...their burgers! This Denny's has some very good burgers. The patties seem to be good quality ground beef hand pressed and come out a good size. I used to order the double...but even with my huge appetite, it would stuff me. The buns they use are tasty, if a bit soft and can fall apart if you take too long to eat your burger. which is no problem for me. I recommend their breakfast burger which has a fried egg on it and hash browns! Another thing good at this Denny's are their skillet meals off the specialty menu. This is their menu that has seasonal items, like for October and Thanksgiving they had a lot of pumpkin themed items...or when the Hobbit movies came out they had a Hobbit themed menu. (Which, by the way, was awesome! They had one Hobbit skillet dish that had potatoes, and cheeses, eggs, etc...yadda yadda...but included this huge chicken and apple sausage! I don't know where Denny's gets these sausages...but they are very delicious and if you see anything on any of their menus with it...order it!) Anyway, can't go wrong off their special menu. Again I'm only endorsing THIS Denny's...because the one just a couple miles away, or in this geographical area, is like the others where I have the same issue as described at top. read more

My first time visiting Denny's and probably my last... We really waited for a lomg time to get our food. Food was cold. We only didn't semd it back because we were very hungry and didn't want to wait for hours to get aomething to eat... Waitress didn't even ask how the food was, or asked if we'd like to have another drink. Due to the long waiting time our drinks were empty before the food arrived and another guy had to ask if we wanted another one... Well, maybe she knew about the raw potato-stripes they call hashbrowns... Also i wanted the Burger bun with cheese on top and ended up having the a normal sesame one. I think the main reason was the staff had to do things like waiting, making salds, shakes, seating people,... They defintely should hire more staff. I work all over Northern California, and this is by far the worst food I've ever had at any Denny's. This place doesn't exist to me anymore. The server was good and did his job well. It was just the food, the French toast combo was barely edible. The sausage looked like it was cooked 12 hours prior, the French toast was actually tough ( don't know how that's even possible?), the bacon was severely undercooked, and the scrambled eggs were a tough cut up aborted omelette. Denny's is Denny's. Once you've been to one, you've been to them all. I'll definetly be staying away from this one though. We came in from the LA area a day earlier than anticipated and needed a place to stay, so we decided to stay at Motel Hell (6), which was across the street. Luckily, morning came and it was time to head over to our ocean front hotel that was waiting for us, but we needed to get a little breakfast in. I ordered a pancake breakfast and my husband did the same. I guess what I ordered was brand new on the menu and the waitress didn't know what came with that meal. When I told her I wanted my eggs scrambled she yanked the menu out of my hands and said let me check, this is new. Really, really awkward. Then she forgot my husbands grits and never offered me a refill on my coffee. When we made our way to pay, she took the register, pointed to the tip line on the receipt and yelled "leave a tip here!" as if she had been stiffed many tips in the past. I could see why she may have been in the past, but I'd never dine and not give some sort of gratuity for service. Needless to say, we were very quick to get out of there! read more

My son and I fell in line to place a large breakfast order to go. I told the cashier I would be happy to write it down, if it would make things easier. She politely said it wasn't necessary. I rambled off a dozen or so items to her. She said it would take 15-20 minutes as they had a full house, too. Well, she got our order ready in ten minutes. We came for lunch and there were only 4 tables going and the female waitress seemed put out, I asked nicely if it would be a problem to not add salt to my french fries and she rolled her eyes and said all I can do is ask them. I was really skeptical because of other reviews but it is located right next to our hotel so we gave it a shot. Didn't start off too well as we weren't given any attention when we walked in. It took several minutes and someone JUST reporting to work that seated us. However, things quickly turned around when our waitress appeared. Denny's - Busy, no staffing - Diners Near Me - Monterey, California

I wish I could give this place no stars. It is so close to local hotels & motels you would think they would have better service and food. We did get seated right away and the place was busy. Probably travelers like us, who thought going to a Denny's would be a safe bet. We were staying within walking distance for several days and thought this was going to be our breakfast place for our trip. The booth seats were dirty, so I had to wipe it down myself before sitting down. The person seating is didn't say anything when I did this, not even offer to get a towel to wipe it off for us. We got our drink order pretty quickly but it took a long time for the waiteress to take our food order. I had ordered two eggs with tomato, bell peppers and Swiss cheese, which I have ordered many times at other Denny's over the years. When I got my food, it had a ton of onions, big chunks of cold tomatoes and a cold slice of Swiss cheese in top. I didn't want to send it back as we were on a time schedule and everything was already talking so lung. Our friend gave her husband half of her breakfast sandwich, he found a hair on it but they thought it hers. Then after my boyfriend was half way finished with his breakfast he saw a hair in his scrambled eggs, which he had to pull on, as it must have fallen into the eggs while they were being cooked. (picture will be posted) We reported this to the manger who thought he was being generous by giving us 20% off our bill. He should have taken the two meals off at least. This was so disgusting. The Dept of Health & Safety needs to come and check this place out. I would not go b there again, even for a cup of coffee. read more

When my mom and I first walked in, we waited approximately 10 minutes before we were seated, and maybe another 2-5 before our orders were taken. When the waiter brought us our waters, I noticed there was crud on the insides of my mom's cup. When we brought it up to the manager, and said that we didn't know what it was in the cup, he says, "I don't know what that is either." On the 4th of July, there weren't a lot of restaurant options here in Seaside. Previous visits had always brought me to think, this was the worst Denny's I'd ever visited and never wanted to return. So here we were again. Seated right away, which was nice. Only one server seemed to be working the entire room and a large party was seated before us. After 10 min she was finally able to get to us. Her name was Nelly, she was very kind and apologetic. Nelly took our order quickly including drinks. Took a while to get water to table, we had also ordered a hot tea. 10 more minutes still no tea. Several people behind counter talking who could have helped Nelly with drink orders. I had to get up and ask for the tea. Got the tea, about 15 min later our dinner arrived. I decided to have an omelette for dinner, friends had Tilapia and a couple of the skillet meals. I'd asked on the omelette for Swiss and American cheese, which I got...but only one on each side, not what I'd expected. Didn't want to wait longer as everyone was freezing as this location always has the AC cranked high, it was 62 degrees outside. Needed some pepper, our table was out. So were the next three tables I checked. Needed ketchup, was empty and so were the next three tables. Struck gold on the fourth table. I asked for some jam for my toast. Nelly spent a while looking and finally came back very apologetic that they didn't seem to have any jams anywhere in the restaurant. Not surprised as there were a lot of things they were out of from the sounds of other diners trying to order things. Finally the bathroom, old and in need of updating. Always feels filthy, this time the men's urinal over flowing each time flushed. I swear, I'm never ever ever going back to this Denny's, even if it's my birthday and it's free. Ordered Chicken Fried Steak dinner and the waitress never asked me if I wanted a salad or soup. I ordered the chicken fried steak with brown gravy and guess what it was brought to me with white gravy and the waitress said she messed up and didn't tell the cook brown gravy. So she brought me a chicken Fried Steak with white gravy and a bowl of brown gravy. I told her I was allergic to wheat and that I could not eat the white gravy and it took another 10 minutes to get what I had ordered to begin with. The Waitress messed up twice ad I was really up set. If you must do to this restaurant speak very slowly, and do the work for the waitress or I can tell you your order will be skrewed up. I love this Denny's so much. I went here probably 10 times the year I lived in America (August 2017 - May 2018). It was one of the few places I loved going to, and my family did as well when they visited me. SLOW AND RUDE. Do not eat here, it's not worth your (considerable amount of) time! We were seated right away, but it took 10 minutes for a server to bother coming to take our order for food and ask if we wanted drinks. There was maybe 7 other tables full. No apology for the wait, just "what can I get you?". 15 minutes after that they finally brought the 2 sodas we had ordered. 45 minutes after being seated, I began writing this review, and as of then, no food in sight. I eat regularly at several of the Denny's in my home town, and rarely have any issues. I have never had worse service anywhere else, ever. Last night, my family went to this location for dinner. My daughter ordered a Belgian waffle. When she was cutting into the waffle, she found what appeared to be a piece of paper in the waffle. It wasn't just a small piece of paper, it was about 6" long and 2-3" wide. It actually looked like paper used in a calculator. It was intact and not cut up. What I don't understand is how the cook did not see this piece of paper in the batter or once he poured the batter onto the machine to cook the waffle. This is just gross. To make matters worse, when this was presented to the manager on duty, he had no apologies for us. All he could say was the cook might have turned his head when making it and missed it. There was no concern on his part. The waitress was much more sympathetic and helpful. Won't be going back here anytime soon. read more

I attended this dennys on January 15, 2017 at 01:55 and the waitress Janet never attended us but upon going to the restroom she cussed us in Spanish "los canbrones left." To translate in English she said "the fuckers left." Upon asking Janet for a survey she said they did not have any and when asking for a store number she left.
