The restaurant definitely worn and dated. It is unkempt and not too terribly clean. Excluding the cook(s) there were three waitresses and only two other tables in use. They took a long time to get to my order. The young woman kept calling me, "baby." But she took my order and I never saw her again. Another young girl finally came up with my food. Calling me "sweety" Asked me if I needed anything. I said, I needed silverware, napkins, and mustard. She apologized and returned with the mustard. I had to ask again for the silverware and napkin . After this point, I saw nobody again. It was not because it was busy. There were still only two other tables.. I couldn't get their attention for a to go box. When I had enough, I went up to the register to pay. The third lady approached said she would take care of my bill asked how much I wanted to give as a tip. I declined to include tip. The waitress that was assigned to me, approached and the lady handling my checkout told the waitress in front of me ... "she said she was ignored the whole time". They both proceeded to just look down until the transaction was completed. Just a weird all-around atmosphere/experience. Absolutely will not return! I hoped That the temporary closure of Denny's helped out with some of the problems. I finally broke down and gave them a chance last week and it was OK, not spectacular. So I returned yesterday. I walked in, there were folks at three tables. I stood there for a while as the two servers walked around back and forth, One seemed to be serving the folks in the dining area, the other walked around not doing much that I could see. And so I waited, and waited. After about 10 minutes it was obvious that these two servers were going to completely ignore me, completely ignore my presence in the foyer, and that I was wasting my time. So I left. I've given Denny's in Morganton several chances to get in the game. I've had it. I've heard that Denny's has been closing some of its restaurants. As far as I'm concerned they can close this one right now. read more

I am giving this place a zero because the food last night was terrible. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes and there were no chocolate chips inside the pancake but only on the outside. My mom ordered a breakfast burrito with hashbrowns well done. The hashbrowns were not well done and she asked for salsa and our waitress knew nothing about it. We stopped here at location # 8051 for a meal after while traveling through Morgantown, NC. Our server Jackson was great. We practically live on the road & never had such a polite, courteous, helpful server. I had eggs with toast and hash browns which were great and wife had a super bird sandwich which she enjoyed. She had to come back to us several times and let us know they were out of ingredients and when the food came, no one's order was right. Took 20 minutes for the waitress to even take my order for a drink so I ordered my food at the same time then after waiting an additional 30-40 minutes for the food to come my waiter came back and said it would be another 30 minutes before I get my food because the cooks had an argument and stopped working. I'm very pleased with our experience today. Even though there was a wait because of this covid 50% rule, we were seated within 10 minutes. We received our coffees immediately and ordered the Sante Fe Skillet and the ultimate omelette. Very surprised at our experience here. We came in from traveling at 6pm only to find one kid probably 16 working the diner by himself. A long story short, Cole's serving and customer service skills are off the charts. A really nice and caring person, he absolutely made our stop worth it. To see someone so young with such great work ethic is such a great thing to see. I really hope someone from Denny's corporate is reading this review because they need to have a chat with their all-star employee. I do enjoy eating here and can count on the food being good. Morganton, unfortunately, knows nothing but chain restaurants, so for a small town with small visions, I think this Denny's is above average, reliable, friendly, and I haven't had a bad meal yet! The waitress was super nice but that was about it. We had a bad experience several years back but decided to try it again today, big regret!!! The scrambled eggs were runny and not fully cooked. Another set of scrambled eggs tasted like lemon chemicals or some kind of chemical, I couldn't eat more than a bite. The sausage was very cold, asked for new and it still wasn't warm but it wasn't as cold as the previous. Worst food experience at Dennys ever. We will not be going back there ever again. Another pleasing visit to Denny's ! While it is true that their new pancakes are terrible, everything else is still great !! If you ever order the grilled salmon and think "something is missing!" The food was excellent. The bathrooms were clean. The kitchen staff and dish washing staff need a raise. Get rid of the lousy manager and one server who complained the whole time and promised to quit the next day. Then, maybe add cameras to catch the problems. I am sure Denny's used to be a nice place back in the day, but I get way better food from Zeko's village, Butch's Barbecue and Breakfast, and the Japanese place which always has a mile around the place. Some cultures and people want to work and are glad to do so. My family and I stopped here for breakfast on our way home from Lake James. The line to be seated was practically out the door. After being seated, our server came by for drink orders within 5 minutes of sitting, which was fine considering how busy it was. She came back with our drinks and grabbed our food order right away. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food. The waitress came back and stated the kitchen had taken her ticket with our order, but something happened to it from there and she needed to get our order again. We gave it and she responded she would rush the order. While we were waiting, the large party next to us left, and left a complete mess behind. The server who sat us didn't try to clean it up, nor did anyone else. At one point another large party came in and the server tried to seat them at the same table, which still had not been cleaned. They were moved to the booth behind it and the other table was wiped off, but the floor around it was a mess (eggs, crumbs, wrappers from straws, and half and half containers littered the floor). It was still a mess when a smaller party of 3 was seated there. By this time, it'd been some time since our waitress had retake our order. She stopped by and asked if we wanted pancake pops while we waited. We noticed the wait staf seemed more concerned with giving out Pancake pops than running food. Nobody was pitching in to help the others out and I suspect the manager was helping in the kitchen. Our food came up and sat in the window since our waitress was at the front, seating people. The server who had sat us must have left by this time as he had disappeared. Our food sat in the window for 15 minutes before our waitress came back to deliver it. Luckily, it wasn't cold but it was luke warm at best. This was my first and last visit. I will not be giving it a second chance. read more

Just recently started visiting Denny's after work. Love the crazy spicy skillet with scrambled eggs on top. Tea and some hot sauce with side of toast. So far my experience has been pretty good. Some waitresses better than others But overall ok. read more

As we usually would not go here because of very bad experiences in the past, we were hungry, it was late and we had no other real choice. The service was good, we ordered 2 double bacon cheeseburgers and seasoned fries. They were cooked perfect, came our hot, fresh and quick! Which is a huge surprise!!! We asked to try the bourbon sauce, it was great! The waitress forgot our bacon on the burgers but was quick to apologize, bring it to us and at no charge. (It was an add on to our order) Overall a very good experience and we will probably be back, surprisingly enough! read more
