Service from the door was horrible like we were bothering them. It had a smell in this restaurant and was so dirty should have been cleaner. Food was disgusting had no taste no seasoning ordered the boneless wings parmesan garlic, and the magic meatballs were just as bad no taste looked like they were frozen from Walmart. Drinks tasted like there was soap in the glass and the waitress just put the next one in a to go cup. Never really acted surprised or even offered to take some money to out bill. I also noticed the couple behind us in the booth complaining about the boneless wings. I could not find out what they were made off certainly not chicken at all looked likes pieces of some kind of meat all squashed together. My friend had the same thing, and she could not eat it all, I took them home to my dogs who will eat anything, and they would not touch it either. So disappointed and will just go next door to Kick Back Jacks and spent my money there. I also talked with the manager who said we are a testing restaurant and she was no help in the matter. Let me start by saying this place is still AMAZING! It's been several years since I have last been here, but have recently moved back into the area and this was one of my first stops. The service is always amazing, as the staff are always kind. The food is outstanding. The crust is unbeatable being hand made, fresh and airy then cooked crisp to perfection. There is enough pizza ideas for any taste mild to wild. And if you don't find your favorite you can make a custom one. There is also every thing from salads, sandwiches and even burgers. Cool little spot to grab a bite with friends; maybe not so much if you expect to be waited on. Service is lackluster here, but they are polite. It's a pizza joint at the end of the day. I wouldn't recommend sitting near the patio door; both patrons and employees use it as a thoroughfare, and you'll constantly be caught in a gust. The pizza was pizza. Picked up a pizza over the weekend. When I arrived at the takeout counter, the woman working there said, "Tips are appreciated." I didn't leave a tip, as I usually reserve tipping for full table service, not takeout. She seemed irritated and commented to another employee after I left, which came off as unprofessional. I recently stopped by this location of Mellow Mushroom while visiting a friend in Hickory. We were seated quickly and had a very friendly server, who laughed at my friend's bad jokes, which was appreciated. My salad was good, but the pepperoni/green pepper pizza was the best part (as always!). There's just something about MM's pizza crust that keeps me coming back. I didn't feel rushed to finish eating, though the huge mushroom dangling above our table did concern me. I spent part of the trip hoping it wouldn't take us both out before we finished our food and were able to scurry to safety! Overall, it was a nice trip on a rainy day. Bruh- vegan options for the win! It's so hard to find restaurants with vegan options in the Hickory area, but Mellow Mushroom did not disappoint! I never liked this restaurant when I was a meat eater, but that tempeh hoagie was probably the best vegan sandwich I've ever had. It was so good, I plan on ordering another tomorrow! The pizza is made with follow your heart cheese- the best brand of vegan cheese. Even the non-vegans in my family loved it! I was easily able to place my order online for curbside pickup, and service on a Saturday night was relatively fast. So so delicious! The servers are what threw me off. They seemed to have no dress code, dress in short all black outfits, chains and collars around their necks and piercings filling their noses. We're pizza lovers and were shopping in the area so we decided to check this place out. First noticed the interesting decor (didn't get all the pics I wanted) and laid back, cool atmosphere. The space is wide open, they have a large outdoor, covered patio and there's quite a large bar located toward the side of the dining area. The kitchen is at the back, bustling with people and within view of the diners. The wait staff and hosts are a younger crowd, but diners of all ages eat here. It's comfortable, fun and inviting. Although there are some bad reviews due to service, our waitress, Anika, was awesome. She was friendly, helpful with the menu, down to earth and boasted a huge smile. We started off with the pretzel bites as an appetizer. We started to get a little concerned when it took over 25 minutes, but, when we received them, and spoke to Anika, it was clear why; these are made fresh in house. Side note: they're not pretzels ya'll. The name is a bit deceiving. These bites are actually made from their delicious pizza dough then buttered and sprinkled with parm and served with beer cheese and marinara dipping sauces. They were fresh, hot, and super yummy. The warm beer cheese was creamy and flavorful with a very mild bite of spice. The marinara had a fresh taste that was a tad sweet with lots of flavor. Both were awesome compliments (try them mixed together, its amazing!). As with the appetizer, there's a bit of a wait on the pizzas, but it's so worth it. Their crust is crisp, but not overdone. Full of flavor, light, and buttered (but no where near greasy) this has to be one of my all time favorite pizza crusts. Both pizzas we ordered had great flavor profiles. The toppings are fresh, and plentiful and the pizzas are covered with cheese. There's just an abundance of flavor overall. When it comes to the toppings they don't hold back, and we love that. We both ordered mediums and not only had plenty to fill our bellies there, but we both had leftovers...TWICE. Definitely worth the money spent. The only complaint...the marinara was sparse on my boyfriends House Special which made the pizza slightly dry. Bonuses...their ranch is really yum and their napkins aren't skimpy. I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding my recent visit to Mellow Mushroom Pizza in Hickory. As a first-time patron, I was eager to experience your establishment, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. Upon arrival, my party and I were greeted with a lengthy wait time, significantly surpassing the initially quoted 15-20 minutes. Nearly 40 minutes later, from the time we walked in to put our names on the wait list we had seen 5 or 6 dirty tables, 2 employees were having a full on conversation while all the tables remained dirty as more tables were adding to the work load.the uncleanness of the establishment created an atmosphere that bordered on unsanitary. We were finally seated, only to encounter a myriad of issues throughout the entirety of our meal. To begin, the appetizers we ordered, specifically the pretzel bites, were not only subpar in taste, resembling mere bread balls, but they arrived at our table cold. Additionally, the soup we ordered suffered the same fate, adding to the overall disappointment of our dining experience. Regrettably, our server's attentiveness was lacking, the only time she checked on us was to 1. take our order, 2. Deliver our drinks, 3. Deliver our appetizer and lastly 4. Deliver our pizzas other then that she disappearedlike who denie and was no where to be found multiple times and when we did find her she was at the bar having a conversation with tbe bar tender, then she disappeared again until it was time to pay that bill. Lmao the bill came faster then the food itself, that will never make sense to me. This coupled with the excruciatingly slow service, resulted in an unacceptably prolonged dining experience, lasting over two hours for a party of just four individuals. Furthermore, As a result I found it difficult to enjoy my meal amidst such unsavory conditions. Ultimately, I left Mellow Mushroom Hickory feeling utterly dissatisfied, both with the quality of the food and the level of service provided. For an expenditure totaling $91, I expected a dining experience far superior to what was delivered. I held you restaurant to a high standard but the experience made my family and I feel very disappointed. My wife's frustration is through the rough, she expressed to me that she just wants to cry because we felt like we lost out on $91 for the type of experience provided and I just wish I could fix it, we would love it if we could get our money back to be quite honest. With the pandemic going on, the staff has to seat you every other booth or table because of protocol. We had no wait time because we went around 5-6 and it wasn't too busy at all! After a eventful afternoon I stopped at mellow mushroom for dinner on a Saturday night. The location did not have a wait time like most other restaurants near by. I ordered their oven roasted mild wings as an appetizer which were phenomenal and a personalized pizza as the entree topped with pepperoni, spinach, mushrooms and ricotta. The pizza was ok, it lacked some flavor but the wings were great! The wings were the best part of the meal. Sometimes, you want to go sit down, have a drink with some friends, have some good pizza and enjoy a cool atmosphere. That place is Mellow Mushroom. Make no mistake, Mellow Mushroom is a good pie. The crust is done well, the toppings are flavorful and there are a good amount of combinations. The atmosphere is really nice, provides a great social atmosphere and fills that niche for a real, sit down pizza restaurant that definitely has its place. Not knocking the food. I live Mellow Mushroom. My issue is with the staff at this location. Come in and don't get greeted. Finally someone comes to the and asks how we say two and they sit us outside. Sat there for 11 minutes with not so much as a JJ be with you in a minute. Zero acknowledgment. Got up and walked out. They had several servers. Open tables and only sitting 50% of tables if there were customers. Horrible rude service. No wonder everyone is across the parking lot at KickBack Jacks. read more

Let me start by saying, I've only been a few times for lunch during the week so far. As this is a new location, the wait times can be long on weekends and in the evening, but that's just when I've tried (which is why I go for lunch during the week). Anyway...the food is delicious.... During my first visit I tried the meatball sub, the meatballs were great, the bread was good and the portion (I orderd small or 1/2) was about right for lunch. On my next visit I ordered a 10" pizza (I prefer pepperoni, but I suspect they're all good) which was more than enough and was even better than I expected. My intentions were to save half for the next day, but it was too good to stop eating. In addition to the food, the beer selection will keep me coming back. They have 40 taps and around 60 bottles...win! If you like beer, ask about the Beer Club! The space is open, bright and suitable for all ages. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

Mother's Day brunch with a table of seven is every waitress's nightmare, but we had a great waitress who even took our picture :) This Mellow Mushroom is located off of 40, and has a big selection of beer on tap (if you sit at bar, they will allow you to sample one or two), outside dining, the food is good but we have been there enough times that we know what we like. 1. Appetizer meatballs: it's three huge meatballs that are really tasty but ask for extra sauce because they only put it on top of the meatballs and you may want some for dipping. 2. Cheeseburger Pizza: Honestly I rarely eat meat but this pizza is different and tasty but ask for them to top it with lettuce, pickles and tomatoes. it is like a Big Mac but better because you can share. I think they charge extra for the topping but its worth it. 3. House Special Pizza: Also a meat lovers delight but it is really good and worth the money. Ask for extra sauce for dipping. 4. Unfortunately the wait times get worse and worse. Came in after lunch, restaurant isn't that busy inside. Visited MM for the first time on June 5 th with my husband. The decor is fun, outside patio shaded and spacious, great music, and clean bathrooms. We were promptly greeted and sat outside per our request. The hostess was great, tho we didn't catch her name. Our server, Anika, knew the menu well and helped us order.
