If you're coming here you will be waiting for 30-45 minutes just to be seated, despite being told you will be seated right away. We waited for another 45 mins for food even though we placed our order as soon as we sat down. We then decided we weren't going to wait any longer and walked out! This place is ridiculous and the service isn't good. Don't come here!!!!! Unless you don't mind waiting 1.5hrs before getting any food. Also, one of the hostesses at the front desk was working very hard, even though she sat a few people before us (who arrived after us) and the other had a bad attitude and didn't even want to walk us to our table. We had a horrible experience tonight at this location. Our food was terrible. My daughter ate only two bites of her pancake. I could not eat the chicken on my salad, it was like rubber. I could not even cut through it with my knife. A couple behind us returned their food upon receiving it. Once we got our food our waitress never came back, at all. No refills, no checking in, nothing. I had to ask someone else to find our waitress for our check. I did ask for the manager and he did discount our bill. I love Denny's, it wasnt a bad time but my only gripes was that they had to go around telling us there were no (traditional) fries at all and we waited a good amount of time for our food. I didnt have any place to be today so that wasn't a huge deal but would be for others. Also they forgot to put BBQ sauce on our burgers. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had. The waitress was appalling. She brought only one of the two apps we ordered. Then she came back and asked if we wanted our soup and salad before our meal. We said yes and asked for drink refills. Soon after she brought out our meal and asked us if we needed anything else. I said yes, our soup and salads and our drinks. I also told her that she could take off the second app (that she obviously forgot). We waited at least 15 minutes before we saw her again. She then proceeded to dump a whole drink on my friend (all over him AND his food). She said she'd be back (we were hoping with napkins) but instead she went and got the check for the couple next to us. My friend had to get up and go get napkins from the kitchen. Meanwhile all the rest of his food that was soaked in soda was completely inedible and no one ever mentioned replacing it. The manager came over and asked us what was going on and when I told her everything that had happened and explained that we were halfway through our meal and didn't even want our soup and salad at this point, just the drinks she gave us all coupons for free grand slams. I asked her if the coupons could be used in other Dennys locations and she said yes. All the coupons said valid in new London only. We gave them all to the family next to us. If I could give this Denny's no stars I would. I waited for my food to come for 50 minutes and the waitress served bigger parties and parties who came after us. I understand that the waitress was stressed but there is no reason for me to wait that long and then she had the nerve to ask for a tip when I waited for so long. I have mixed emotions about this restaurant. It started at the beginning when my party had to wait 20-25 minutes to be seated while the hostess cleared tables. The manager looked very sloppy with his shirt barely tucked in, pants way below his waist and untied sneakers. He also never smiled once while we were there. He also talked down to his staff. After being seated, our waitress asked us for drink and appetizers, then walked away after taking drink orders. It took almost an hour to get our food and even longer to get silverware to eat it. The food was good. However, you could tell it had been sitting because part of it was warmer than the rest of it. My husband and I went here for breakfast and it was a disaster. The building is way too small for a Denny's. People were waiting on the bench, vestibule and all least 15-20 others outside. The staff wasn't very friendly at all. The hostess in the front was clearly very overwhelmed. When we were finally seated we ordered coffees, they were very old and very cold. We didn't stay past this point as it had been 30 minutes and our waitress never came back to take our orders. The experience was accompanied by a mess of an environment. Let me start off with the positives, because up until we paid our bill, things were going well. My in-laws, husband, daughter and I came yesterday (Fathers Day) around 9:45am. We were told or would be about 15-20 wait and it was closer to 25 or so. Not a big deal because we figured we would wait anywhere we tried to go so it didn't bother us. Our waitress, Laura B I think was her name, was excellent. She was efficient and polite. The restaurant was out of kids menus but she had it memorized which was impressive. Our food came out relatively fast for how busy they were and was hot and pretty good! My husband and father in law went up to the cash register to pay. Both my in laws are AARP members. Apparently only one of them can use their discount on one meal. So even though they are both members, only one can use the discount they are both entitled to? Seems odd. But that's not why I'm giving a one star review. While my husband was settling the check, the hostess had run out of register tape mid printing our receipt that we needed to sign. I guess she replaced the register tape with the wrong kind and couldn't reprint our receipt? And had thrown what had printed into the trash and couldn't find it. Meanwhile, there was another employee next to her yelling at her to the point where the hostess was in tears. Incredibly unprofessional and if she was a manager I feel bad for her staff. Be the example. Anyway, we were not able to sign our credit card slip or leave our waitresses tip on our card. So who knows what amount is actually going to get charged to our bank account. I wish I could give no stars. This is my second time here after the first time I decided to give it another chance. We walked in and it took us 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. Our server took our drink order then came back 10 minutes later asking for our drink order again. she gave my boyfriend the wrong drink as well. our food took a long time to come to the table and when it did it was cold like it was sitting on expo for too long. my food also had a bad taste to it like it was old food. our server never checked on us until she asked if we needed boxes. i'll be driving to the westbrook denny's from now on if I ever want to return. read more

I've given this location 4 different trys, each time worse then the last. The first time we got our drinks and no one came back to take our order for 25 minutes. We ended up at groton town house. Second time and third time we we're told a 15 min wait that turned into almost half an hour. Ended up at groton town house. This last time, we waited 45 min for 2 eggs, Bacon that seemed to come precooked in a box and thrown on to the grill, and two pancakes. After 30 min the server came over and told us it would be right out and she was sorry. Then all the tables that came after us got their food. Another ten minutes passes and came over to tell me a different story as to why it wasn't up yet and it was coming off the grill. At this point I said I'd pay but she assured me it was being plated. Five minutes later and one plate at a time, food came out. You'd think after all this the server would come back and ask us how it was. Not once. Although it was hot and fresh, we've decided that this will be our last time giving this Denny's a chance. The 5 minute extra drive to groton town is beyond worth it. read more

As soon as I walked in with my family. The cooks were blasting rap music. The place had no customers. The girl who i think was the host looked at us. Made us wait to seat us. Took forever to order our breakfast. The waitress was chewing gum as she passed our cold food to us. Obviously spitting in our food with every open mouth chew. Beyond disgusting. I have been there about 3 times since they opened at the New London location. One time about a year or so ago (the food made my daughter sick) and the other 2 times yesterday and the day before. The day before yesterday wasn't so bad but am not a fan of Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. I asked for my eggs to be cooked over medium and they were under cooked. I don't like the white gooey stuff in them but still love the yolk to pour out. Love their strawberry milkshakes. We also ordered to go meals. 2 chicken strips meals and 2 hamburger meals. We waited some time between getting the meals and drinks. But we were seated promptly. Yesterday, we went there again. Seated promptly but waited over 20 minutes for our milkshakes. When we received our milkshakes the waitress forgot to put in the strawberries. The manager on shift had them remade. We ordered the T-Bone steak meal with mash potatoes and gravy with broccoli. Also, ordered the pot roast meal and chicken strips. We also placed a to go order as well. We were there for almost 3 hours. With all the mess ups and lengthy wait times between getting our food and them having to remake my meal. The T-Bone on the menu in the picture is nothing close to what you actually get. It is very thin. The piece I received was missing or didn't have both sides to the T-Bone steak. One part is New York strip which was there and then the other side barely had anything there. They made me a new steak but it was blah. No taste. The other guests in my party were able to eat their meals before I did. The meals were cold by the time they made it to us. We ordered appetizers and the appetizers were served with the meals. Also, the waitress forgot one of the appetizers which was the nachos. Had to wait for that as well. Then waiting another 20-25 minutes for another set of drinks. There is no reason it should have taken almost 3 hours. Because it took so long we lost track of time and it cut into our time for returning my son's tux rental that had to be returned or we would have to pay a late fee. I called and left a message for the district manager Patty and the manager on duty last night said he called but was unable to reach her. I still have not received a phone call back about my complaint. When we returned the tux rental we had to pay the late fee ($21.27) and spent another $15.00-$20.00 on gas going back up to New London/Waterford. Then the meals stated it came with 2 sides and our waitress charged us 2 additional sides but was only supposed to be charged 1 additional side per meal. The bathroom were absolutely filthy. The silverware were dirty. I hope I get a return phone call so we can resolve the issues. read more

They reallllly need to get their wait staff's sh*t together. This is the second time I've been. Both times the food was pretty good. The eggs are clearly instant or something but I knew what I was paying for. The service however.... I went two nights ago with my fiancé. There was probably 15 people in the whole place to eat. We sat down right away. The server took our orders and brought waters. The food took SO long to get to us. Probably 35 mins, which I think was unacceptable considering there was almost no one in the place. (Same thing happened first time I went. I chalked it up to them just opening and trying to work out the kinks) We got our food and we have no silverware. Which we noticed right away, asked our waiter for some he said ok. I literally watched him walk around the restaurant and start doing something else and start seating other people. I was sitting there starving so I just snagged some silverware from the empty booth next to us. He came around asking us if our meal was ok, which we said it was. I asked for more water, and I heard the table behind us ask for more as well. He turned around and once again totally ignored, or forgot to. Five mins later I saw him start to walk back to our area and his face looked like 'oh sh*t I forgot their waters!' and he turned around to get them. I'm chalking it up to him being stoned or something. The food is what you would expect from a Dennys. It's decent. But the kitchen and the wait staff NEED TO PULL IT TOGETHER. read more

Unfortunately, an awful visit for my husband and I. Seating: not too long of a wait. Booth was dirty, cleaned it ourselves. Ordered iced tea and iced coffee. They don't have iced coffee - but rather than come check what else we'd like, she brought iced cappuccino instead. Iced tea was BEYOND rotten and there wasn't one piece of ice! Food: took a long time and certainly not delivered all at once. Pancakes for one order were brought later, and banana pancakes came without bananas (which server brought later, separately). Syrup had no flavor. This place has potential in the area its in, with a more affordable menu and many items to select from. Hopefully they can rally together and fix some of the issues! read more

I came here when they first opened with some friends from work and it was good, breakfast was above average and service was great. I'm not sure what happened but we've been back a few times recently and the wait is ridiculous, the service is terrible, and the food went down hill...the waitresses are the worst I've ever seen. They are all racing around aimlessly trying to see who can get the next cigarette break (among other things). I think they should just start all over, retrain everybody and dump the dead weight. First time eating here was the first few weeks it opened. I must say that I am a mother of a kid who works at this location as a server and I am trying not to let the things I know affect my review. We expected it to be chaotic but nothing like what we saw. The first impression, it was too small. We walked into the door where there was supposed to be a hostess but there wasn't (turns out, they quit on the first day!), it was two servers childishly fighting with each other, then in passing had the nerve to dish out that attitude to ask if we wanted to sit down. I was in awe but proceeded to say yes, I'd like a table for two, my husband just wanted to leave. We were going to have a wait time but people just kept getting up and walking out because they too were disgusted by the two childish waiter/waitress arguing, which had us seated in no time. Our waitress was very good. She checked on us and made sure we were straight and she did good being that it was her first day. 1 star is for her and another star is because my food was really good, burger, with seasoned fries, but that is the only reason why I am giving 2 stars. The manager on duty was slow, sluggish, dragging and RUDE! Tall big lady with dark brown/black shoulder length hair. Manager with blonde hair was nice and responsive. We sat right next to the kitchen and saw EVERYTHING that went on. I mean, we are talking, everything! Servers fighting with each other, cursing, spilling drinks, and the cooks arguing with the servers, servers rubbing their nose and then serving food and so forth. It was a hot mess in the back. I have never been at a place to eat where I have had to witness that. I saw one server crying because the cooks were making fun of her. Just a horrible scene to watch. No one there that should have been professional was professional at all! The only manager I have seen be somewhat good is a guy named Greg. Now because I am a mother of a kid who works there I have lots more stories but I will keep those private since I haven't personally experienced them. This is mine and my husbands experience eating out at Denny's because we wanted a good breakfast diner to eat at and let me tell you if IHOP every opens nearby I am definitely choosing IHOP over Denny's! This place has A LOT of work to do if they want to have a successful business, from the managers all the way down to the lowest paid job there! No one has it together! read more
