Just ate at this Denny's the other night and it was an overall great experience! Jennifer was my server and she was welcoming, had a smile on her face the entire time and kept my coffee coming which is all I can ask for whenever I go out to eat. I had the sirloin steak dinner and mashed potatoes and gravy as my entree. The potatoes were thick and mashed well, the gravy tasted good and the steak was cooked just the way I asked it to be done! Very rarely do I find a restaurant able to do a true medium rare but their chef did. Now if you're expecting me to go on a rant and rave about flavor profile there isn't going to be any because mashed potatoes and gravy and a sirloin steak is pretty standard fare, but the fact that they can do it and it's not overcooked means they're Cook does know what he's doing. I'd have to say the only negative aspect I had in my experience was there was one employee who did more standing around behind the bar and going outside to smoke cigarettes and talk on her phone than anything else. I brought this up to the manager, Allison and what I found nice was that she acknowledged my complaint in a very professional and friendly manner. It was as is if we were neighborhood friends which made this particular experience, along with my waitress, Jennifer truly great because I didn't feel like I was dealing with corporate people, but with people that I may have known for years. They treated me like I was part of the the community even if I am an over-the-road driver. In effect I recommend that people should come here and eat and you know enjoy the selection and joy the ambience and the low-key atmosphere that this staff creates because I feel that it's Blackson especially after a long day on the road or a hard day at work! read more

Service is extremely slow!! Took 10 min to get seated by hostess and we were the only ones standing waiting. Then we watched for some time (about 10-15min) and no one ever came to our table. It's been a long time since I've been to a Denny's. What a pleasant surprise. We went on a Saturday morning and were shown straight to a table. Our server, Ashley H., was really nice and very timely with taking our order and keeping the coffee coming. We tried the strawberry pups as an appetizer--which was yummy. Very reminiscent of a beignet mixed with a cake donut. I felt like it was a food from the state fair. For breakfast the hubby had the ultimate grand slam omelette which he really enjoyed. While I had the country fried steak & eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy. My food was good. Not amazing but definitely solid diner breakfast food. Overall we really enjoyed it, and plan to come back--especially for those pancake pups. read more

Quite ridiculously the worst Dennys I've ever had the misfortune to visit. I thought maybe I'll give them a chance after reading some of the reviews, but my god what a mistake that was. The wait for service or even acknowledgement is on a different level, they somehow manage to ignore you, it's not even possible without intent. I was sitting right there twiddling my thumbs and making huffing noises to no avail. A gentlemen came in and sat next to me 10 mins after me and left after waiting 10 mins as he didn't receive any service whatsoever, we just shared a mutual look of disappointment. I persevered and did eventually get my order in and yes you've guessed it, it came in bits and it came wrong. By the time I got my dry toast (yes dry toast, that means putting into the toaster and then giving it me! You don't even have to cut it!! Just give me some toast someone please!!! arrrggh) my food was cold and my bacon was wrong. ( I asked for turkey and got pork ) I will say if Dennys management reads this then please I don't want anyone to lose their job or anything but please oh please retrain Danielle, she is possibly the worst waitress I have ever witnessed in 'action' I say action but I really mean lackluster performance. Completely uninspiring and really quite a drag. Speaking of waitresses, maybe they can spend less time calling each other 'baby' or 'ma'am' and talking to each other about cornbread (I kid you not!) and maybe more time just actually acknowledging a customer. Gross!! Stopped in for breakfast this morning. It wasn't busy but the food took a good 30 mins to come out. When it did, my daughter's order was wrong, the food was lukewarm except for the hasbrowns, and the pork link sausage was PINK on the inside after I requested well done. I overheard our waitress tell the table behind us that they were short a cook because apparently their order was wrong too. I asked if they could remake the sausage well done and she said sure. She came back five min later with more sausage that was STILL PINK on the inside. At that point we ate our hasbrowns as it was the only thing on our plates that was hot decent tasting then left. After reading previous reviews I had concerns about eating here but I had work to do and I needed a pelace to write. They were close. My impression is that they have addressed their issues. I was greeted promptly. The waitress was very nice and kept my iced tea filled (my pet peeve). The food was delicious and someone came out of the kitchen and asked how everything was. Visited Denny's in Pearl, MS on 5/4/19 and will not visit again anytime soon. Service terrible. A small 8"x10" sign on a table at front entrance that reads please wait to be seated (can't visibly see it until someone points it out to you). Cashier seated us and served beverages (gave us a coke and coffee) we asked for two coffees. She said she was bringing cream and sugar and never did. Other guests arrived after we did and placed their orders before us (Oh, yeah, we never placed our order, no waitress). I tried stopping a waitress that was passing through our area and was told "wait a minute". She never came back. After a 20 minute wait, we asked another waitress about our check for our beverages and she asked who our server was and we told her we never had one and that we just wanted to pay for our beverages and she told us, you don't have to pay for it and we could leave. I called the manager on 5/6/19 and talked to "William" the manager and tried to explain our situation to him and he was not understanding and even put the phone down while I was talking to him and never said could you hold on. When he came back on the line he said he was talking to someone else and I said "you didn't have the courtesy to say "could you hold on please" and that I now understand the service (or lack thereof) that we received on 5/3/19. Denny's need to train their staff. I wish I could give a -star. read more

I have been coming to this location for a while now. Every time I come I'm hoping things would be better than the last time. Obviously not and obviously no one cares because it's always the same sloppy, slow, ill mannered customer service. Why does it have to take 40mins at almost 11:00 at night to get something to eat, especially when there are ONLY four other customers in the restaurant? Why, because no one here ever cares!!! Your employees walk around like they don't have a job to do. I'm a truck driver, and no I don't have time to sit all night just to eat, especially when it's late and no one is even there, so it's not that your restaurant is even busy!!!! I have no idea about how many complaints you get but after tonight I'm done with this location!!! We went there Sunday morning (November 2, 2014) for breakfast. We stood there for a LONG time before the manager acknowledged us. A man had walked in front of my sister, and the manager acknowledged him first. When my sister spoke up and said that we were there first, the manager accused her of being impatient. When we were finally seated, our waitress came over and told us it was going to be at least 30 minutes before our food would come because they were backed up in the kitchen. Don't blame her for something that was beyond her control. Then she said she would give us a few minutes to decide if we wanted to stay or go someplace else. We decided to stick it out. She came back took and took our orders. She was very articulate and made a good effort to make sure our orders were correct. It took 19 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and 45 minutes for the food. Empty tables around us sat dirty for over 10 minutes. Some of the staff walked around briskly, but the majority of them were just lolly gagging around aimlessly. The cashier was working the cash register, serving food, and pouring coffee. That meant people were piled up at the cash register waiting to be seated and to pay. People could have easily walked out, and they never would have known. read more

Clearly, they left out the word, poorly. As a very recent customer, I found the service to be absurd. The employees are unhappy and I know this, not only from observing, but from server's mouth. Are the employees trained to NOT smile? The Manager (overstated title for her) was rude. When I asked to be seated at a booth I was told they were not clean and had to wait. I counted five from where I was standing. After a booth was considered clean...according to Denny's or that horrible manager, we were seated to a sticky/wet nasty booth. One of the two of us received silverware with a napkin. No, not both, just one of us. I assume they wanted us to share? I ordered sourdough toast, and when I was served white toast, I questioned, waited, and was finally told that they were out of sourdough. Meanwhile, my grits became a hard lump of concrete because butter, I guess, must be churned upon order. On the bright side, someone threw some butter on my table and it made for a nice frosting on top of my ball of concrete. I must say, I empathize for the server. The food could not be served properly (he told me that they only had one four piece toaster, and two sides were not working) due to the lack of management and tools to succeed in his position. He was very polite in bringing me a refill of coffee....just me. The person with me was told a refill would be brought, but that never happened. Maybe only half of the coffee pot was working? Unsure. We both ordered the All American, and if that were three eggs, I would like to meet the chicken....she must be very petite. Anyway, as I was leaving after paying, I wasn't thanked or had any type of eye contact with the Manager, so I thanked her and wished her a nice day as she stomped away. Hopefully, I will never see her again. Well, I won't at Denny's, anyway. Goodbye Denny's, your service in Pearl is horrible. This was possibly one of the WORST dining experiences I've had in a long time. We waited over an hour for food that was microwaved and hard. My husband had a grand slam, I had a grand slamwich, and my son had a plain cheeseburger and goldfish!!! Over and hour for that!!! You could tell my food was under a heat lamp and NOT fresh at all. The bread was so hard I couldn't bite through it. The waitress wasn't any better. She seemed scared to come tell us our food wasn't ready after telling us 30 min prior that it would be out next. My husband then went up and spoke to someone that wasn't in any uniform but was preparing and serving food so maybe a manager. She asked him if our waitress told him about the 30 min food wait, she hadn't, plus we'd been there for over an hour at that point. There was no crowd and the kitchen was full of workers. There was NO EXCUSE for what we experienced. I wouldn't recommend this Denny's to anyone. read more

This has got to be the worst restaurant in the surrounding area. We entered the store at 1pm, there was only one party ahead of us, Husband, wife, and three small kids, waiting to be seated, at least 5 open booths and tables, not crowded but only two waitresses. 15 minutes pass, no one comes to seat us, party of six enter and wait, two couples enter and wait, party of 3 enter. No one comes to inform us of a wait time or anything, seven customers leave after eating. 4 more tables empty. There is a 12 year old kid operating the register. 30 minutes has now passed, All parties waiting leave, that's 18 customers gone. I ask for the manager, she comes up, I asked if there was a problem, because we, and other customers have been waiting to be seated, she becomes rude, I say, that's ok, I will call the general manager, i'm informed that she in the kitchen, I ask to speak to her, she does not come out but sends another person who says that he is a manger. I ask him if their is a problem, because we had been waiting to be seated of over 30 minutes now without anyone informing us of anything, 18 customers have already walked out, he said, " We are behind in the kitchen" I see that but why hasn't any anyone attempted to seat anyone of us, Then he says, " We are short of staff" I see that, Sounds like management does not seem to know their job. He says, " well you can take your ass somewhere else and eat". You are exactly right, what is your name sir. He walks off cursing. General manager Victoria McKinley, never comes out to address my concerns about her managers rude and unprofessional language towards a customer. We leave, now 20 customers have left your business. We've been to this Denny's several times, and the service was always pretty bad, but the food is good so we come back. The manager was standing at the register (not with a customer) when we walked in. She did not acknowledge us at all. After about 4-5 min, she said she would go see if there was s table open. She put our menus in a table and came back to seat us. She did not even walk back to where we were standing-just stopped in the middle of the isle and waived us toward her and said, "Sit here." 4 people walked past is without asking for our drink orders or if we had been helped. After 10 minutes, the manager noticed we did not have drinks. So, instead of going over to where the servers were standing, she YELLED ACROSS THE RESTAURANT at the waitress to come get our orders. It still took her 5 minutes to come ask what we wanted to drink. She had a terrible attitude, never smiled, rushed off before I could finish speaking. All the tables around us had the same problem. One couple sat down next to us. She didn't even stop and take their drink orders. She walked by and said, as she was walking by, "It's gone be a minute." It took almost an hour for our food to get out. It wasn't just us. There was a table behind us, and we overheard them say they had had three cups of coffee and still hadn't gotten their food. The biggest problem here is the manager. She is the one that "greeted" us at the door, seated us, so inappropriately yelled across the restaurant to her employee. We will not be going back. read more
