Our family of 5 went to Denny's on South Campbell on Sunday the 26th about 10:20. 3 kids and two adults. We waited up front for around 10 minutes before anyone even said "hello" or greeted us. Employees were walking around in the back and standing at the middle registers. They were maybe 5 other tables in the whole restaurant that was occupied at that time. After a waitress saw us, she informed us that someone would be with us in a moment. Another 5 minutes go by, and someone seated us. The booth they set us at was torn in multiple places. So were other booths around us. The floor was dirty and cover in scraps. I thought things were going to turn around when I looked at the menu. Food is specifically marked what is gluten free or not, what meals are gluten free, and how to make them gluten free (i.e. slam w/o the English muffin). Eventually we were able to order. My daughter who has celiac disease ordered a BYOB. She ordered hashbrowns, eggs, sausage and bacon. The waitress asked her if she was able to have hashbrowns. We asked if they were cooked on the same griddle with gluten items. We were told "no", but they have butter in them. We explained that she has celiac disease and cannot have gluten, so things like flour, breads, etc. Mind you, these options had the "GF" symbol next to them on the menus. She went on to get the manager. The manager came over and asked us about the hashbrowns and if we wanted to switch them to something else.. My husband said they have the gluten free symbol next to them and again asked if they were cooked on the same griddle as other items. He said "no" but they have butter in them.. ?? I have no problem explaining what celiac disease is or what my daughter can and cannot have. However, if you don't know what you're talking about, say so. As a MANAGER, you need to know what your menu has on it, and what it means. Butter and dairy have nothing to do with gluten. Once we got our meals, the hashbrowns that caused such a fuss were gross. They were all cold inside. I would never go back, simply because of the experience there. They need some serious help to get things back in shape. read more

Customer beware!! Service is horrible. Just a few tables occupied, yet it took 10 minutes to be seated. To add insult to injury, we sat at our table while watching several employees walk by us without recognizing our presence. It took them another 15 minutes for service. All and all, we were there over an hour before we could leave. We will not be back. read more

Don't go here. I ordered brunch, the "healthy" entree. I didn't know turkey bacon is served limp, apparently. Then, I ordered onion rings, I know, not healthy, for our group of four to share. $8.59 for 8 onion rings, a dollar a ring. I complained at check out and got a military discount for my meal so the order of onion rings was now $7.73, 96 cents per ring. Not going back. Ever. read more

One Star - Never Again I tried to give Denny's on Campbell Avenue in Springfield, MO another chance. Big mistake. At 8:15 p.m. I placed an online order through the official Denny's website. The pickup time was set for 9:00 p.m. I arrive on time--only to find the place completely closed. Lights out, doors locked. I knock on the window and a guy finally comes over just to tell me, "Yeah, we're closed." That's it. No food, no refund, no apology. They literally took my money for an order they never even bothered to make. If your store is closed, your online ordering system should NOT still be taking orders and charging people. That's not just bad service--it's basically theft. I left hungry, out the money I paid, and with zero trust in this location. Springfield has plenty of other places to eat, and I can promise you one thing: I won't waste another dollar or minute on Denny's. Denny's motto should be: "Always Open... except when you've already paid." read more

Raven makes every meal extra special. Raven greets us with a smile, provides great service, works hard to get our order just right, checks on us during our meal, and says goodbye when we are leaving. We love seeing Raven! She is positive, upbeat, caring, and she goes the extra mile for her customers. We also appreciate the way that Freddy, the manager, treats the customers and the staff. It is clear that Freddy cares about his customers, staff, the store, and the quality of the meals. Freddy is kind, warm, and caring. He often welcomes people with a smile, and says goodbye. Me and my dad went here for breakfast this morning and it took over 45 minutes to get the food and there was barely anyone else there. the food was extremely greasy, and the biscuits were super hard. If you have to wait because of short staffing. Its a very minimal time ordinarily. They refill our drinks every ten minutes. Are quick to replace unsatisfactory dishes and do so with warmth. Instead of the common local saltiness which you get at some places. Its typical diner fare. For a reasonable price. Even with my pain in the ... orders they tend to do a good job. I am surprised to write these words: this Denny's location is one of the best restaurants in Springfield. I've eaten at Denny's across the western United States, and even worked one night a location that once upon a time was their corporate office. Never I have I encountered a Denny's that is as consistently clean, well-managed, and as good a value as this location. My wife and I have visited multiple times, and each time the restaurant has delivered great service and food. The staff seems to enjoy working at this location no matter what the challenge. They are understaffed like all the restaurants around town, but service is always quick. The only pandemic related issue seems to be a supply chain one, but that is not something the staff can control. We also enjoy patronizing many restaurants across town. They all have their strengths, but none of them are able to completely ace my personal trifecta of cleanliness, service, and value. This Denny's is the exception. It's not just a great Denny's, it is simply one of the BEST restaurants in Springfield. read more

I was pleasantly impressed. Our server was extremely nice he did a really good job even though Denny's is extremely short staffed at the moment like everywhere else. Our food came out hot and quite delicious. Our server kept my Diet Coke full on this hot summer day which I appreciated very much. Everything inside appeared very clean and well kept. The prices were really inexpensive especially for the amount of food we had. If you are looking for a sweet treat for breakfast try the strawberry hush puppies, AMAZING! The only reason I am not giving a 5 star review is because the lady that cashed us out at the register was going on about a plumber showing up two hours early. I get the frustration being short staffed and all, but that's not really appropriate behavior in front of customers. Luckily, we only had to experience that at the end.
