Decent pizza. Very large slices. Not greasy or oily as many pizza's are these days. Service was friendly and prompt. We noted the place was quite busy for take out. We were here for lunch around 1230pm the place was not too crowded. Other groups with youngsters and babies that we had seen in the Park earlier were coming in. There is a counter as you enter with the ovens to the right and about 8 booth type tables to the left. Restrooms were clean and well stocked . We also got some ice cream it was ok not great. I order 2 kids chicken fingers totaling 15.98. When ordering I was told 4 pieces of chicken tenders come in each order, instead I received 2 pieces cut in half. Literally cut in half after the tenders were cooked. How cheap!!! I did called Deno which the person said it's how they do it and what they consider 4 pieces of chicken tenders. If they would have just told me 2 pieces I would have gladly ordered more but I feel this was pretty deceitful. I eat here about once a week. The inside used to be pretty tired and run down, but since the renovation, it has become a nice place to sit and have a casual lunch. The people who work at the counter have also gotten friendlier, very polite and always smiling. I have a few things that I get a lot, the chicken kabob sub and the roast beef sub are two of my favorites. The burger is also pretty good. For the pizza, I really like their sausage. It reminds me of a favorite pizza from when I was a kid. They have two types of pizza, NY style and Sicilian. There are a few things that I have had that I wasn't crazy about, but never anything bad. I preordered pizza for a party I was having on Halloween. Called the of they said I was all set for 5:45 delivery. They didn't come called they said it's in the over and on it's way. Best toasted spicy Italian sub I've ever had. I come from a little town in northwest PA and thought the best subs were made their. I was wrong. The best subs come from Deno's of West Roxbury. I recommend you have one before you die!! It will give you a reason to keep living for the next one. I wish I had taken a picture. I ordered a 'large' and split it with my brother. Deno's used to be my go to place and I've lived in West Roxbury all my life. Lately their food and service has been subpar at best. I've had subs missing key ingredients and pan pizza that is thinner than regular pizza. Not my go to place anymore. Horrible lately. read more

All I can say is WOW! I haven't been here in over a year and the place did a complete 360!! They reconstructed it so it's nice warm and welcoming! The food- my God was so delicious! I had a Ham&Cheese sub and a cheese pizza. They must have sold to another team because it was just DELICIOUS. The sub was perfect, down to the mayo I was licking my fingers!! The pizza slices were huge and so tasty. The fries were crunchy and crispy- omg so yummy. The young man at the front was so nice and sweet and the cooks were nice and said hello. The second sub with grilled chicken kabob was cooked through, but again the flavor was very bland. My fried ordered the cheese burger and said that was very good. I am now home and about to eat my sub from Deno's. I was curious what people say about the place. While eating, I was checking out Yelp's reviews, they were shady. So i decided to give a honest review in hopes to give people a better understanding, so here i go:) I ordered cheese burger sub (Mayo Lettuce, tomatoes), good size sub, the roll was fresh, plenty of Lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. But the meat patties were very thin, i would say combined weight must be about 5oz. The meat ratio was totally off and for $13.91 not worth it. Better off going to any other places down the vfw pkwy for a combo meal or go to a restaurant, at least you would get more burger and side of fries for the same price. We have been frequent customers of Denos for many years. The pizza was terrific, great grilled chicken Greek salads and good hot and cold subs.and very fast delivery- we loved this place! We are sad to say this is not true any longer. The pizza is sometimes ok and other times disappointing: underbaked, too little sauce and cheese. The salads are very stingy with all ingredients except the lettuce! The last Greek salad we had contained very smelly cheese that had spoiled! We are so sad to give up on Denos but, it is not the same high quality place. We will order from another Pizzeria in West Roxbury. Such a shame! read more

We ordered from the Brookline location last night - SuperBowl Sunday - and, expecting it to take a long time, called rather early. They said it would be about 45 minutes (way less than I expected) and it came in just around 45 minutes. Very nice (although earlier than we were ready to eat). We ordered 2 buffalo chicken calzones with spicy fries and wow. We definitely did not need 2. I immediately smelled something that I thought was onion and when I opened the box, saw that it was the pieces of garlic drizzled over the top of the calzone. Mmm. I had asked for some extra blue cheese sauce and we ended up with 4 good-size containers of it. Oops! Between the 2 of us we maybe used 1. Each calzone would have easily fed 2 of us, so now we have leftovers for a few meals. Unfortunately, the chicken was pretty much stuffed into 1 half, which meant the end pieces and outside of each piece were pretty much just stuffed with ooey-gooey tasty cheese. Which was good, don't get me wrong, but the chicken was good too! Would have been nice to have some with most of the bites. The dough/crust - whatever you call it - was buttery and verrry good. When I ordered, the woman told me the small fry order (spicy curly fries) was not enough for 2, so I got a large. When it came, I thought they gave us the small. There were enough for 2, but with no leftovers and I didn't eat that much. But they were VERY tasty! I would definitely order from Deno's again and while the food definitely hit the spot and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I don't know if it's the best calzone I've had. read more

I'm really surprised the rating here isn't higher. I rarely write reviews on Yelp but will when a business compels me - for better or worse. Deno's checks all the major boxes. Good food, fast delivery, accurate orders, online ordering and tracking - it's really great. Admittedly we haven't sampled the full menu. I can say that the salads are always fresh, the Bianca pizza is really great, and the wings and boneless wings are amazing. An important note is that we've ordered from them probably 30 or more times and they ALWAYs get the order right. Further, if you type in special instructions to the online order form, they always read it and oblige. It's amazing how well they adjust orders to customer preference. Delivery is always quick, and the people who answer the phone when we call are always friendly and competent. As a resident of the area, we've experimented with lots of comparable places and haven't come across anyone as good and consistent. They'll remain a staple for sure. read more

The short of it: Pizza 2.9 stars Boneless wings: 4.5 stars Don't get me wrong, the pizza is solid and has the rare quality of being just as good , if not better cold. The crust and bottom are astonished well browned, the cheese is pretty good but I'm left wantng for a more flavourful sauce and crust. It's a good pizza that I'd get again If I don't have any other options. The boneless wings. WOW. FANTASIC! Super crisp on the outside and moist in the inside. It's quite close to my mother's chicken cutlets as far as they are very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Love the garliC Parmesan flavoured! The price for the boneless wings is a little bit steep, but I suppose you get what you pay for, they are really unbelievably amazing. The ranch dressing for dipping is quite good; I think it might be homemade, but it is a little bit thin and watery. Delivery was 40-50 minutes ~about what one would expect, the delivery person was friendly. Overall, I would definitely recommend Dino's great place to get good quality food. Although my standards are very high for pizza, and I may have been too critical, I still stand by what I have said in this review and I understand that other people may find this pizza much much better than I have. read more

I really don't understand how come this place has such a low review on yelp. Deno's has the best pizza in West Roxbury hands down! I always get the cheese and the Hawaiian. So what do you do when you get several bad sub's from a shop and email the owner of the business explaining the problems and also include pictures and that owner totally ignores you after making this effort to solve the problem??? Post it here !!! Been going there for some time and my usual is the large Roast Beef sub which becomes two meals (Usually) and came filled with Roast Beef and the fixings I request. NOT THE last 3 TIME'S!!! Just for perspective this sub cost just below $15.00(they charged me extra for cheese which seemed to be a new charge) and for the same money I could get 3 delicious roast beef sandwiches at Kelley's and get THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT OF WELL MADE , FRESH ROAST BEEF AS WAS NOT IN THE DENO SUB! The sub at Deno's had just enough roast beef in it for what would pass as a small sub and barely any tomatoes that i asked for. It's refreshing to see that the people of Yelp, West Roxbury are seeing Deno's for what they truly are; below average food, careless employees and greedy ownership. This place has been serving garbage pizza for years. It's never cooked, the sauce is almost bitter, the cheese somehow is burned while the crust is like rubber. How the hell that can be done is beyond me. The cheeseburger sub is piss poor. The patty is dry, the bread is soggy no matter what you get on the sandwich. And how do you screw up poppers.? they are just frozen from a box. But they do. Deno's is a factory for poor food. They have so many employees, yet such crappy food.
