The dough does not taste young, they get it crisp and brown in the right places, and THEY WILL SELL BY THE SLICE. This clinched it. Service has always been quick but I also make it a point to avoid peaks. Never ate in. I was so frustrated after getting to my designation to discover I had been duped. Unfortunately, I learned I have to watch the cook and also double check to be sure before I leave. Forest Hills Pizza is conveniently located right across from the lower busway. There are a bunch of options in the area, but this is a convenient place. We ordered a bunch of pizzas for a school trip and they offer a buy 3 get 1 free special. I think the pizzas are around $13 for a large which is a little expensive but not bad. The pizzas aren't anything special, but they're still good. Very average pizza for Boston with a chewy crust, sweet sauce, and good cheese. I enjoyed it and didn't find it too greasy. Overall if you're in the area and craving pizza I would check it out. read more

This is one of my to go places during my lunch break. It is owned by a married couple, who are the sweetest people you will encounter when you step in. I usually come here for a quick lunch - 2 slices of pizza and fries. But on days that me and my boyfriend decide to meet for lunch we usually get actual meals. I have tried about everything on the menu - BLT Sub, Steak and Cheese, Burger...etc. Everything is cooked to preference and cooked very quickly! My latest quick lunch date I got the Grilled Chicken Salad with Creamy Caesar and Pita Bread. WOW. One of the best salads I have ever had. It was a huge portion - so it worked out in my boyfriends favor when he was still hungry after his large Italian sub. The chicken was grilled to perfection and everything else tasted so fresh! I highly recommend giving it a try. It was about 8 dollars - which isn't too bad, since most places already have pre-made salads for about 9-10 dollars. Forest Hills Pizza, love of my life, fire of my loins! Seriously, I love this place. The family who owns it are amazingly friendly people. They knew me as a Forest Hills resident, poor college student, who bought pizza from them almost every night. Tragically, the restaurant was struck by a fire in 2007 only to be rebuilt and better than ever in 2008. I cannot tell you how I rejoiced when I heard the news. They smile everytime I come in the door, ask how I am, and thank me generously when I stand on my tip-toes to put dollars in their tip jar. You can pick up a small pizza, fit for one, for around 5 bucks, a little extra if you desire toppings. The grilled chicken salad with pita bread is amazing and healthy too. They give you tons of fresh veggies, again for around $5! The chicken is marinated and grilled and helps make a healthy dinner a little less boring. The chicken sandwich is also noteworthy. When in Forest Hills Cemetery, Franklin Park, the Arboretum, stop by Forest Hills Pizza and sit on the rainbow cafeteria style booths, and share a basket of fries with someone you love. read more

I almost feel like the people who run this place are my parents. I can go in there anytime and get something really cheap and really delicious. It really feels homemade. I usually get the supreme wrap with chicken. Different from the chicken wrap, that has mayo, the good one has feta. It isn't anything special, but it's good solid satisfying food. My roommates who don't know what a stove is usually get spaghetti and meat balls or something like that. It comes with garlic bread and a bunch of cheese on top. FILLING! it's $5 i think and feels just like a home cooked meal. I wouldn't go out of my way to get to this place, but if you live in the area, it's a definite staple. read more

Outside of pizza chains, this place has my favorite pizza. I like the thin/crispy crusts, well seasoned (but not too salty!), and extremely friendly employees. I asked for a side of pickles once (ordering nothing that needed such), and they gave it to me anyway without charging me. The menu is extensive, and the prices are fair for a family-owned business. The guy that owns and runs the place is from Armenia, and as he is from a former soviet block country he points out how bad communism is every time I go in. I made the mistake more than once of weiring some shirts from the good old CCCP, you know the ones that have the soviet flag and things like that on them. Anyway he remembers me as the guy who wears those shirts and tries to talk me out of supporting communism, funny thing is I don't actually support communism, and have told him that I wear the shirts because I like them, yet he doesn't seem to believe me. Well either way he does a great job of preparing food, great subs and salads, and a decent deal on pizza as well. You can see them prepare everything as there is an open kitchen, on top of that, the place is spotlessly clean. I go every once in a while for a slice or two when I don't feel like cooking, there are two things that would make this place better, delivery service and being open on sundays. read more

I live about a block or two from Forest Hills Pizza so it's easy to go to when I've caught myself staring in the refrigerator for five minutes ("Shut the door! You're letting all the cold air out!") The people that work there are nice and the thin crust pizza is tasty. I like the sauces they use and the breadth of the menu and choice of toppings on the pizza are great. There are two sizes and you can also get pizza by the slice. It's cool that it seems to be a neighborhood hang out for lots of people, too. I wouldn't necessarily tell someone from Somerville that it's worth their time coming down to try it out but those of us in JP and especially us by Forest Hills, it's a great spot. And frankly, while not being as exotic as Dogwood's pizzas, the pizza at Forest Hills is cheaper and just as good. read more

This is a love letter (sorta). I lived two blocks from FHP for a year, and I say (with some shame) that I frequented this establishment much more so than my budget could stand. Not that it's expensive. Quite the contrary, it's incredibly cheap for by-the-slice pizza, which was the only thing I ever bought there. But the problem is that I went there all the time. As far as quality goes, it's nothing special. Basic cheese and pepperoni slices are decent and assuaged the pangs in my tummy. It's cheap and comes out hot and tastes pretty damn good with a nice cold root beer to wash it all down. Husband and wife (Greek, I think?) team are friendly, though our secret dreams to make FHP a Cheers-esque place where everyone would know our names didn't come to fruition. Still, it's gonna be one of those nostalgia eateries for me because of what it represents. Many a work night was spent here commiserating, eating, digesting, and trying not to think about doing more work. Will miss it mucho. read more

Way better that Big Greek Pizza. The mushroom is especially good. They use different ones than most places but nonetheless good. They also have pretty good deals for whole pizzas. Buy three 4th free and buy 2 get a free medium. No delivery though and i've learned walking down Hyde Park in the winter can be an adventure. Also by the time I get them home they cool down. The best pizza in Jamaica Plain. They have the friendliest employees. Their Family is from Albania not armenian. They have the best chicken Alfredo in town. I sometimes come home from Providence (Go to college there). I order when I am in Providence. They have known me and my family for years and when I get there the food is just done cooking. The pizza has good toppings and decent cheese and sauce, but suffers from the common flaw of bad crust. Garlic topping is only for serious garlic lovers. There was like an entire bulb on my pizza, which stank up the entire house. Buffalo fingers are excellent with a tangy and spicy sauce, but the cheesesteak is dry and lacking enough cheese. Do not get the burger, which despite being "cooked to order" is a flavorless frozen patty. Forest Hills Pizza is cheap, polite, convenient and--best of all--open til 11, but it's a fallback, not a destination. read more

Maybe it's because I just moved from Cambridge and have high expectations (Otto, Upper Crust, Basta Pasta) but this was some of the worst pizza I have ever had. I have never been dissapointed by my Forest Hills Pizza experience. When I moved onto Woodlawn St. a few years ago, I quickly found that FHP was the most convenient location to grab a pizza that didn't taste like ass. My roomate and I often split a large and a movie on a Friday night when we didn't feel like going out. I am also a big fan of their chicken brocolli and ziti alfredo. Huge portion that comes with a salad and garlic bread and it is enough to share, even if you think you are SUPER hungry. I love their fries and wing dings, cooked fresh and hot to order every single time as well. I am not a huge fan of their subs mostly because their bread is standard, white, and chewy and their meat is low quality (though I make an exception for their BLTs which are GREAT!) A word of extreme caution though: Do NOT order the burgers. They are absolutely disgusting, over-cooked, tasteless, rubbery "meat" patties that I think might be dog food or possibly brillo pads. I mean, seriously vomit-enducing. The prices are good and I only had to stop in once of twice before the super friendly Mom and Pop of the shop knew my name and my usual order. They also have a pretty hot son that works there sometimes. I really miss this place since I've moved out of the neighborhood. read more

everything here is just about as good as you would expect food coming out of this type of establishment to be, or better (pizzas and pastas get an extra thumbs up, salads and subs are run of the mill tasty). and to top it all off: the people who work here are SO, SO nice. when i am drunk or tired or cranky or hungry (which are usually my driving factors towards pizza) my order is always ready for pick up in approximately 15 minutes and they hand it over the counter with a smile. best of all, it is just about the only place in the forest hills area you can grab frickin' bite to eat past 7pm. 4 stars and infinity returns! read more

My favorite go to spot in Forest Hills. I usually order a steak and cheese (steak bomb) and it is perfect everytime. The steak is seasoned well and they put just the right ratio of cheese and additional toppings. Wing Dings are yummy. The owner and his wife are very nice. The service was good, the people working were very nice and helpful. The pizza however was not very good at all. We all have our preferences and I grew up with Italian and New York style pizza. New owners! I have always liked this spot and the previous owner and his family were great people, but the new owner and his staff are equally as awesome. The pizza has gotten better, too. Their chicken broccoli pizza is delicious, especially when it is fresh out of the oven. The buffalo chicken is great as well, just not as good at the chick-broc. There is even Sicilian pizza now, on top of the cheese and pepperoni staples. I have not had a chance to try their new menu otherwise, I'm mainly stopping in for slices! With the new variety of slices on top of the great quality and great service, this place is well-deserving of your time and a five star rating. Stop in some time soon and grab a slice! read more
