I've always had good experiences here in the past, everyone's usually friendly and welcoming. But after today, I'm extremely upset and disappointed. I brought my husband and our 22-month-old daughter with me to my appointment. While I was getting my cleaning, the staff was being nice to her, gave her toys, and kept her entertained, which I appreciated. However, when we were getting ready to leave, we noticed one of my daughter's pigtails had been CUT OFF and both of her hair ties were missing. When my husband asked about it, the response we got was that no one knew what happened and that they "don't even have scissors there." That answer is not only unacceptable, it's insulting. My daughter is a toddler, she doesn't know how to use scissors, and she never pulls out her hair ties. Someone there cut her hair, and no one had the decency to tell us, or even own up to it when confronted. I'm not even that upset that her hair was cut, accidents can happen. What I'm furious about is the dishonesty and the complete lack of accountability. If something was wrong or if something got stuck in her hair and they felt the need to cut it, the absolute bare minimum would be to inform us first as her parents, not silently make that decision and then act clueless afterward. This situation was handled horribly, and I'm extremely disappointed in how it was swept under the rug. I expected better. I added pictures of how her hair was before we got there and after we left. UPDATE 5/2/25: After posting my original review about the disturbing incident involving my daughter's hair being cut during our visit, I finally got a call, today, now days later. And when the dentist finally did reach out, instead of offering an apology or showing any concern, he spoke to me in a defensive and borderline hostile tone. He immediately said he "trusts his staff," that he personally questioned everyone, and of course, they all denied it. Then he had the audacity to say he found it "odd" that this happened while my husband was there, as if we were trying to pull some kind of scheme. That accusation was not only offensive, it was completely out of line. He didn't let me speak, didn't ask what we experienced, didn't express any empathy, and absolutely no care about what happened to my child. He just told me to transfer my care elsewhere, canceled all my future appointments, said "take care," and hung up the phone like I was the problem. Let me be clear, someone cut my daughter's hair without permission. She is 22 months old. She cannot consent. No one asked us beforehand, and no one told us afterward. Whether they want to admit it or not, this is extremely serious and potentially considered battery under the law, as it involves unauthorized physical contact with a child. And to be treated as if we did something wrong or made it up is absolutely outrageous. I'm beyond furious. I didn't want to escalate anything, all I wanted was a little honesty and accountability. Instead, I was treated like a liar and pushed out of an office I was suppose to trust. Because of how dismissively and unprofessionally this was handled, because of how this was handled, we will absolutely be taking this situation further. read more

I left without finishing services because I experienced similar rudeness and pushy night guard sales pitches. He blames others and NEVER apologizes. I was given a rough patchwork job on a chipped front tooth in a dark yellow color because the materials to do the job had not been prepared for my appointment - the tooth glue was almost gone and there was no whiter fake tooth material. I ran away to a new dentist after I went back a final time to have the rough, dark yellow tooth redone. When my new, honest dentist's staff read the bill from Baysa's office, one of them yelled, "Who does he think he is?!"... and not just because she was putting on a fake friendly facade for her job. read more

Doctor & staff are professional and office runs in unity. I am happy that I only need to come for one appointment to get root canal or crowns done as this is done right in the office. I'm so hurt the way I was being treated! I felt being taken advantage of and being criticize for my teeth this situation has made me feel more self-conscious about my teeth I know my teeth aren't perfect. The reason why I had chosen to visit this doctor because of all the reviews I had read, seems too good to be true so I followed my gut to schedule an appointment. The day of my appointment first thing they had wanted to do was a tour of there doctor office which was nice, then soon after sign some paperwork. Then I was seen by his assistant she had asked me couple questions for my visit I had mentioned that I had wanted to get my Gap teeth fixed and I'm on a budget and I had wanted to know different options, then soon after the doctor came in he was very non polite made me feel like I'm nothing! he looked at my teeth just made me feel like there's no potential of helping me just telling me Basically do you have " $60,000.00 thousands dollars and FYI your teeth is 10 years older, and but wouldn't be nice to have your teeth nice when your daughter gets married " yes that what he said!! I was so hurt it really made me feel even more self-conscious about myself! I could not wait to get out of there! then There was a fee that I had know idea about, i understand there's a consultation fee but a fee that was Extremely ridiculous of $267.02 so the $267.02 was to pay for the tour of the office the pen the bottle opener and his time of just putting me down! The 1 star is for the 2 female staff members I encountered and not for Robert Baysa. He charged my husband and I $313.90 for work that was not performed, 'because teeth were missing' from my 11 year old's mouth. He should not have demanded full payment for services not rendered. My husband nevertheless paid his bill-- basically for the less than 10 minutes my daughter and I were in his presence, 5 minutes of which he spent chatting and wasting our time with a personal story about his son trying out for the fire department. Hey but your son might find it hard getting into the fire department training center where my husband is stationed, just saying. I am deathly afraid of the dentist. I was nervous to come in any get a cracked vaneer fixed. The dental hygienist comforted me and made me feel like everything was going to be okay. The dentist was very knowledgeable and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a new dentist. The office was very clean and decorated nicely. They even gave me a gift. Dental staff will offer elective procedures and scans that are unnecessary. $625 for a night guard? Overpriced in comparison to other dentists. Also if you don't cancel within 3 days you will be charged $75. If you carry insurance out of network, costs are fairly steep. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I should have read the reviews. I came in for a cleaning and x-rays, first visit. I was uncomfortable when they started showing me all the stuff they sell and touting all of his awards, confident, capable people do not have to brag. I brushed it off but, probably shouldn't have. I got the cleaning and x-rays completed and Baysa comes in and is pretty condescending when it comes to your teeth. Evidently EVERYONE that goes to this office needs a bite guard. I had to refuse at least 10 times. They are very pushy. They even tried to say I had a cancerous looking spot in my mouth and they had an exam they could do, $200 plus and then a fee each time they checked you. I'm a nurse and I don't scare easily. I also had an appointment with dermatology the following week. Guess what, no spot. I can say I wasn't shocked that they didn't find anything in my mouth. My dermatologist even said they were just trying to get money. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I had pretty much decided after he talked me into a crown (and insulted the work of the dentist that did work on me before) that I wasn't going back. He then tried to tell me I needed another crown but really couldn't explain to me why with any conversation that made sense. I also somehow got a filling when I was told I didn't have a cavity on the previous visit. Then after all that, I get a bill in the mail that says it's 30 days LATE!! I paid for all of my appointments upfront so I was pretty mad I got a bill for over $700 dollars. I called and questioned them but, never got a call back. I had to call them again. They tell me it's fixed but, I still owe $70. I told them to send an itemized bill because I still wasn't happy with them. I ended up paying the $70 dollars even though it wasn't right. The bill came in my husbands name at first, (who knows why you would do that) I made them change it to my name. My husband and I have good credit and to start putting either of us are 30 days late on ANY bill is ridiculous. It was worth the $70 bucks to be done with them. All they want is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ My husband is active duty, I served myself and we are completely embarrassed that he puts he was an officer and treats military and their families like this. Here's a tip, you keep treating people like they are a bank, you'll end up without patients. I don't stay with any business that treats me like a cash cow. You should not be in the health field if you don't actually care about the health of people and are just in it for the money. read more

Some may say that when you go to a dentist named "Dental Arts", you should expect higher prices.... But it's darn hard to get in as a new patient anywhere in Hawaii! I initially loved this dentist and still do love some parts. The hygienists and desk staff are so so sweet and really take the time to get to know you. BUT.... I am just a source of income here. Each and every time I come in for a cleaning there is some big expense I am quoted for. First I thought this was in my best interest and shelled out the money for a night guard for my supposed teeth grinding. (Now that I am jaded I am beginning to wonder if this was even a necessary expense.) Two appointments later I had my first cavity ever. I was even more bummed when I found out it would cost over $300 with insurance to fill ( non-metal filling because of the health risk metal presents). I saved and came back 6 months later for my cleaning, expecting to schedule the filling and get an update on the cavity. Well.... They told me I had no cavities. Yes, after complaining on their website I got an email (complete with numerous spelling errors) from my dentist apologizing for the miscommunication and asking me to call their office to schedule the filling. No thanks. That miscommunication doesn't inspire the confidence I need to feel towards medical professionals. Also, another thing I was upset about was that their payment policy changed without any warning. I found out AFTER my cleaning that instead of signing the insurance check and sending it in (the former procedure), now you have to pay out of pocket and wait, hoping to get reimbursed from your insurance for the full amount. Although they told me that I would probably end up paying at least $20.... The difference between insurance payment and Dental Arts bill. read more

I've been going to Dr Baysa for many years and have always left my appts very pleased and satisfied with services they've provided. His office used to be at Mililani Town Center; but this current location in Mililani Mauka is beautiful! Modern, clean with state of the art equipment . They have TV's in every room where they show and explain about your dental condition. His hygienists throughout the yrs are excellent with their interpersonal and professional skills. The Filipino tech( sorry don't know her name), is super friendly and has a great welcoming attitude . Dr Baysa is a very skilled dentist. Very professional. One thing I like about this dental office is that they promote preventative dental care . They provide great teaching on dental care and maintenance. I'll be sending my 16 yr old son here in couple yrs. I'm also referring some of my family to Dr Baysa.. read more

Thought I would update this review. Been here a few more times and although I feel like they are good at what they do technically, I am starting to feel a bit like they push their sales too hard. The Hygenists (sp?) who clean your teeth are great, but when the doc comes in to give you their "talk" it feels like its coming from a salesman more so than a Dentist. I was impressed with this dental clinic for several reasons. 1. There was ample parking, meaning less stress for me. 2. When you walk in it's like walking into a spa. The office is just clean and beautiful, with all of the latest dental technology. It was something I had not experienced before. 3. Not having Dental insurance for a very long time, added on top of my fears of the dentist, when I had a MAJOR toothache I was scared and nervous. I found out about Dental Arts from Honolulu Magazine and decided to give them a call. They were very understanding and made an appt that day to see me. Everyone there was so nice and comforting. I couldn't have been any happier with the service and welcoming feel that I got from this Ohana. They were also very helpful finding me a way to finance this visit and had great information for me on finding my own personal insurance for down the road. This office, with all of its employees, have been very comforting to me through a very rough and painful time. I am so disappointed in Dr baysa's office. My dad have been going to Dr Baysa for all of his dental work for 5+ years. Never was my dad told that Dr Bayas office is OUT OF HIS NETWORK. Over charging my dad all of his visits. My dad is 88 with dementia so I take him now. My brother asked me why was dad charged so much for just a cleaning so my brother called his dental plan and was told that Dr Baysa is not in your dads network. Talk about taking advantage of the elderly. Why did they not tell him that he was not in the right network. No they just keep scheduling him every 6 months appts. This dentist is a scam artist and a liar. Basically over charging for every service and claims that it is his philosophy of "whole mouth" dentistry that warrants the higher cost. He is NOT part of HDS(which he says covers "tooth" dentistry) and they will try to hide that fact, which is what got us in an awful situation that no one should have to endure. It all began when my wife's molar cracked while she was pregnant with our daughter. She had a root canal done and was told to find a dentist to put a crown on the affected tooth. She wanted to go to Family Dentists in Mililani but they were booked for about 2 months. So she found Dr. Baysa in a Google search for dentists in Mililani and he had some awards given to him so she thought he would be a good dentist. She called the office up to see how long the wait was and they were wide open, not busy at all. She set up an appointment had her tooth looked at and scheduled an appoitment. She waited for an email with the quote but it never came...( quoted $1,700.00 for the procedure in an email that was suspiciously under the secretary's name and not the buisness's email so my wife never got it before the actual day of the procedure). My wife is not from here and was not sure how much something like this should cost but she was told that HDS would cover most of it and we would pay a little part of it. She was also told to pay cash up front... she thought this was strange but couldn't get a hold of me( I was working) so she paid it. They told her that the work is covered by a 2 year warranty so if anything should happen come back and they would fix it. She felt pain after the initial procedure was done and waited for it to go away, but it didn't. So she went back in and they didn't want to do anything she had to argue and finally D. Baysa said that if they did a "Cleaning" then it would be better. After the cleaning the pain still persisted and he redid the crown VERY reluctantly. He tried to blame the root canal Dr. during this time and insisted that the doc relook at her tooth. The root canal Dr. recognized right away that the crown had been done very sloppily and there was periodontal inflammation surrounding the crown. He also noticed excess cement, and when we told him how much it had cost he was shocked because the procedure was so over priced. Since then my wife's tooth is uncomfortable, not fixed and we have been trying to get Dr. Baysa to just take care of the tooth that was under warranty. He avoided calls, would never call back until today. We talked with a secretary but knew that we needed to talk with him directly to resolve this issue, so she said he would call, he did. The first thing he said was my wife is "unreasonable", I told him to not insult my wife and he went on further calling her "ignorant" saying that everything that happened was her fault. He went on bashing her and me calling us "dumb" and saying we were blowing smoke up HIS butt. It was like he was a little boy hurling insults at another kid because the teacher was there and the other kid couldn't do anything. He told me to stop "crying like a baby" and that we were out of luck. This is when I understood why he was being so rude... He said his warranty for 2 years requires a cleaning every 6 months or so, if you do not have a cleaning within that time the warranty is void. Today is the first day of the 7th month so he was laughing and saying more rude things about people being ignorant ( apparently he gets more people with this scam than just us) and then hung up on me. I bet he hi fived his secretaries and is telling his friends how he told us off... SUPER unprofessional... that is how our entire experience has been. Well this is not over... I started going to Dr. Baysa a little over a year ago, after I moved to Mililani from Hawaii Kai. I am thoroughly pleased with all of the service that I recieve there. It starts with a friendly smile and greeting from Bree, who six months after my first visit still remembers my name and greets me as soon as I walk in the door! Dr. Baysa is extremely knowlegeable and is not rushing to get to the next patient but actually takes his time to explain everything and answer all of your questions. Their state of the art equipment helps the hygenists get your teeth sparkling clean and they, as well, take their time to do the best job possible and explain what they're doing as they go along. This dental office is NOT a partcipant of Hawaii dental service insurance. I wish I hadnt assumed they were(my bad). I do, however, have dual coverage with HMSA/HDS and did not expect to pay $199 upfront for just a reg cleaning with xrays. When I asked why, i was told by the billing gal that i would be reimbursed the amount. I was caught off guard as i never paid for anything in the past for the same type of service with my previous dual coverage of HMSA and metlife. Roughly 2weeks later I rec $71.79 from HMSA. One month later, I rec $45.05 from HDS. This means my out of pay for cleaning includg xray was $82.16. I called to confirm if this was correct (which it was) and that I was NOT told that only a portion would be reimbursed. As a recurring customer, i felt like i was misled and felt i shouldve been told of my out of pay portion. I, otherwise, would not have been so disappointed. I cant stand unpleasant surprises. Having said all that, the facility is well kept and clean. Im always greeted pleasatly with Bree, who is such sweet, sweet gal. Ive never had to wait for my appointment. My hygienist(spelling?), Jeffrey is just awesome, above expectation. read more

They had both been seeing Dental Arts for their dental needs for some time and would rave after every visit on how good they were. I not only made an appointment for me, but for my husband and son as well. My husband is "deathly afraid" of the Dentist and hates going for even a routine check-up. After his visit, he was surprisingly pleased with the service he received. I have to agree!! From the first point of contact with Bri, who is always so helpful and sweet, to Vanessa, who wraps our visit up; the staff as a whole is one of a kind. Jeff is my hygienist and always takes the time to explain every step of the way what he is doing in the process of my visit. Furthermore, he goes on to explain preventive care and maintenance. Dr. Baysa is full of knowledge and reason and is a true expert in his field. The state of the art equipment they use make it easy to understand where your problems are what you need to do to fix them. I recently was honored with the title of Mrs. Hawaii 2011 to represent our state. Dr. Baysa and his team did not hesitate to go above and beyond assisting and supporting me in my quest to compete at the National Mrs. United States pageant this past summer. The hygienists of Dental Arts made sure I was up to date with cleanings and visits and Dr. Baysa provided me with resources and tools to make sure I had a winning smile on and off the stage and camera. I am grateful to have Dr. Baysa and his wonderful staff service me and my family with our dental needs and care. After years of searching for a dentist who is both thorough and gentle, my husband feels he has found his match. I got my teeth whitened here a few days ago. The process was easy and the staff is really friendly! They're having a deal to get $150 off zoom whitening. I had great results! Only thing is, they do not provide the trays and touch up whitening that most offices do. It is an extra cost at this office. But, with the deal, I'm not complaining! I highly recommend :) read more

Very well rounded dentist. Very professional and straightforward. Dr. Baysa is all about prevention and he does it so that you don't spend those extra $$$. I know that I've avoided treatment on occassions and he reminded me that one can lead to the other. My son (who is 6) also goes to his cleanings here and no problems at all. Had to get a tooth extraction 3 days ago..let me say..it was PAINLESS...I hardly even felt pressure after they gave me 3 shots of the novacaine or whatever they use to numb...and they were FAST!
