Been going to Gentle Dental for over 10 years now. Seen many Dentists and Dental Hygienists and I have to say Micah is by far the absolute best. When he calls me in it makes my day! It's now not just an appointment. He's so personable, thorough and is the only one who doesn't gouge the life out of my gums during the cleaning, which makes me white knuckled cringing for the next hit. Dr. Kant is great and also pulled some magic strings late last year. Had my appointment to install an implant and he called be just before saying I needed to see an Orthodontist first. I was so disappointed because I took off from work. He called the Ortho. but their office was closed so I thought I wasted a day off. Nope! He got the Orthodontist and his assistant to come in, even though they were closed, and they did my scans. I was so appreciative that he had that kind of pull and made it happen. read more

Worst experience ever. I am accustomed to Dental offices that attempt at least a temp fix for issues that need to be scheduled out. No here. No temp solution, just pay a ton of money for an implant. Also don't expect that they will come sit with you and go over options, short term, long term and costs because that doesn't happen. Left a review over a year ago regarding billing. This is STILL not resolved. This issue is going on 3 years! DO NOT GO HERE. They continue to send me monthly statements for an amount they stated they were going to write off. (I have emails and written documentation.) When I got some work done starting in 2023 everything was good until I had a filing and a crown in March of 2024. I paid my part, but was later billed for higher amount. I've been a client with Gentle Dental for many years. Throughout the years I've had great doctors, however, Dr. Zandt is by far the best ever! 2 weeks ago during a dental cleaning it was discovered that a root in my upper left gum area may be infected. I was scheduled for a root canal today, and really stressed over it, dreading the numbing injections and the root canal itself. I can honestly say that Dr. Zandt was awesome and I felt very little pain while the injection was being given. The root canal itself was not bad at all. No one enjoys coming to the dentist for procedures, however, if it needs to be done, Gentle Dental & Dr. Zandt & staff make it almost painless and keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. read more

Been coming here for years, and really liked this office but this year, I don't know what happened to this office, they just sucked. First, beginning this year, the dental assistant was trying to pressure me into doing an x-ray of every single tooth, for no reason. When I tried to decline, he said I could either do it or not be allowed to return for future treatment. I choose the latter and left. After a couple month, I got a bill for over $250 from them for something that had been long paid. If you've ever been here, you know you have to pay in full every visit. The girl confirmed and said they would adjust the bill to reflect paid but here we are, 6 month later and I am still getting fraudulently past due bills. 5 Stars for their dental hygienists that do a great job, make things comfortable, and smooth. I've come back several times and have nothing but great service in that department. Some things that could use improvements: I have to admit that they have been able to resolve my latest request to obtain proper documents as well as resolve our previous issue as well. The problem is it seems to be the same problem and it takes effort to keep coming back to resolve the problem. I'd suggest upgrading the system or resolve it so that it doesn't continue to happen. I'd also suggest answering the phone, that would help. read more

Had appt for teeth cleaning. X-rays taken, then I waited over a half hour in the chair. I asked what the delay was, and I was then told "You are dismissed." What? I was told to leave. First of all, Dr. Zandt is a great dentist. The reason for 2 stars is 5 stars for the dental care and zero stars for bookkeeping staff. I have been getting billed for over $280 for over a year. They can't tell me what I am being charged for but tell me they have no control over the billing. They have even agreed that there is an error in the bill. When I call the number on the bill (808 623-2888) no one answers, and after leaving my number, no one returns my call. Since they NEVER answer any of my calls, I have had to drive from Ewa to Mililani each time I need to try to get the bill corrected. That doesn't matter to the staff since it's not their time or milage. ( I even have to drive to the office to make an appointment on the regular office phone number) I have noticed Chris S. Business Manager has responded to other reviews, but he gives the same number that no one answers. Dr. Kahn (sp?) is the best! She is very kid friendly and talks to my son during his cleaning appointments. Even though my son is cooperative for the most part, her soothing voice keeps his 7 year old body still throughout the process. Our appointments are quick and he walks out with a goody bag and toy of choice every visit. Located near First Hawaiian Bank side of Mililani Shopping Center. At first it was quite annoying getting calls on the day of his appointment asking to come in earlier than my scheduled appointment time. I had scheduled it in the late afternoon so that I would have time to commute from work in town and pick him, with some time to breathe without rushing. Found this practice through my dental plan listed providers, called and scheduled an appointment easily and had no problem, scheduled a first appointment and cleaning two weeks from my first phone call. First appointment went well, had a assessment/X-rays then teeth cleaning. Nothing to complain about. Worst experience EVER. I get better service at the DMV and Burger King. I came for a cleaning a month ago and was told everything was fine. Then I was told once I got there that I had to use a credit card only (which I was told over the phone cash would be fine) and because I didn't bring it w me I had to reschedule. They rescheduled me a month out (yes, 30 days). As today is the 30th day I came back at 9am and was told my appointment was at 10am I said okay I'll come back at 10am when I got back she said I missed my appointment. I explained the situation and said this has nothing to do with me and everything to do with your staff please fix it. Not only did they not fix it but I was told I couldn't speak to the manager and I was just out of luck again. If this is your customer service before I'm a client I hate to see how you would treat me after I have already paid you. Anyone got any recommendations for a dentist in Hawaii. It was my first time going to this office and it was the best experience I've had. The front office workers were welcoming and friendly, the waiting was also decorated for the holidays so it gave me something to look at while waiting to be called. Justyss the dental assistant was really nice and gentle while taking xrays, it didnt hurt and wasnt uncomfortable as it usually would be. Dr Bustmante was also really nice and took her time with my exam and explained what treatment i needed. Jonine from the front desk was also very helpful with my treatment estimate and showed and explained the break down of the costs. 10/10 would recommend coming here!! This office is really nice! I got my cleaning done by Micah the hygienist and Dr. Bustamante did my exam and they're both really good at their jobs. My teeth felt very clean afterwards. Dr. Bustamante previously did fillings on me and during this recent check up everything was still looking good. They also have a coffee maker to drink coffee while you wait (I bet the hygienists hate that before a cleaning ). They also have a selfie wall to take pics. & they do same day crowns, looks like they have a plaque for 1000 crowns done in office, amazing! I would recommend this office to all my friends and family. What a great experience! read more

I have been with Gentle Dental for years. The care and the service is always professional and friendly. It is very challenging to be an adult with braces, but they gave me so many tips and so much help! Something that may seem so simple to someone else but is a big deal to me is that they always pronounce my name correctly. It is a simple human touch that goes a long way. Came in today ready for an exam and a root canal. I called last week to confirm and even made a follow up appointment for next week for my crown. I get here and now the receptionist is telling me that I might get referred out and not even have the root canal done today. Ok so first of all, why couldn't I have been informed that there's a chance I wouldn't even be able to get the procedure done here? My insurance will end this month and I made sure to have this scheduled before that happens. Now idk if I'll be able. If these ladies weren't so sweet I would have lost my sh*t. There's lots of things I love about this place. Mostly the customer service from the ladies in the front. There's lots of things I dislike about this place. Mostly the lack of communication and the abundance of misinformation. Me and my entire family (myself, wife and two young kids) loved Gentle Dental for years. Then the staff changed and everything went to hell... I'm a retired union crane operator. This office made tens of thousands of dollars off of me over the years. Back in November or December of 2018 I needed tooth #1, a molar, extracted. The dentist opted to remove the adjoining molar also, so #s 1 and 2 were removed. Unfortunately, the entire root of #1 was left in my gum. This is something even a student dentist would have noticed because the two molars were laid on the dentist tray and an entire missing root is easier to spot than a car that only has 3 wheels on it! To make matters worse, their billing department misbilled the entire fee for this and as a result, insurance did not cover it so they threatened to turn me over to a collection agency. I have been suffering from this impacted root sewn into my jaw for almost 2 years now. I am in serious pain. Guess what my next course of action is going to be. I used to love bringing my kids and wife to this location for dental treatment, but after the treatment I received the last time I went and their threats to send me to a collection agency for their mistake after their apparent medical malpractice, totally turned me off to their entire operation and I give them only one star. I would give them negative Stars if there was a way to do that. Run, do not walk, to another dentist in your area! read more

I wanted to give Gentle Dental a reprieve. I think yelp helped get the word across and I was contacted by an owner. However, he gave me the number that I have been calling all along that they never answered or returned my calls so that was a dead end. I decided to try to call the Aiea office and was extremely surprised to have someone answer the phone! I told her what happened and she said she would get a hold of Mililani ASAP. She did exactly what she said, and within a half hour, a manager called me. He promised to fix the problem within a day. He is a man of his word, and he did just that! Thank you Tres! What took me 10 months took him one day to repair. So the four stars is for him and the person that answered the phone. I will not go back to Mililani, however because I love my dentist, Dr. Zant, who also gets all the stars, I will see him at another branch. It will be farther away, but he is worth it. read more
