I had been going here for several years and really like Dr. Boe if he was still here I would give them 4 stars but he is not and this review is not based on him but the other dentist that works there. Dr. Boe decided to expand his practice and hire a new dentist to work out of this location. I really had some issues with her. The new dentist was very rough and really dug at my teeth and gums with excessive force. She drilled to deep on a cavity and caused me to have a root canal which I refused to let her do. I went some where else for the root canal. She also claimed that I needed to have a deep cleaning where they dig under your gums and it is really expensive and I have heard hurts a lot. She also told this to my husband and a two other friends that went there. I thought really all of us need this so called deep cleaning or you just want more money out of us. I went and had the root canal some where else and started seeing a new dentist, who said my teeth and my husband's were fine and we did not need a deep cleaning. I will never go back to Shawnee Dental. One more note. The reason this place gets a 2 star instead of a 1 star is because the dental techs that clean your teeth they are awesome. They are all really nice and love to chatter away to keep you disstracted which I like. They are the reason this places gets an extra star. read more

Wish I could leave zero stars. Horrible customer service, bordering on nonexistent. Revolving door of dentists and staff, with inconsistent diagnoses from one six-month visit to the next. Can't even cancel upcoming appointments because a) staff doesn't answer the phone, b) voicemail is always full, and c) nobody responds to messages on the practice's online Contact Us form. The dentist I saw was Dr. Yee, who was a woman dentist. My first visit she was incredibly friendly and sat down to talk with me before my exam, which made me feel like she truly cared. She gave me a complete exam, which I've never had, well at least not one like the one she did on me. She measured my gums, told the hygienist all the work I've had done, then discussed brushing and flossing with me and gave some recommendations for toothbrushes and flosses that she herself uses. Instead of having someone else come in and talk to me about work I needed done, she sat down and talked to me about it herself. She explained everything to me, answered any questions I had, and didn't rush me at all. I thought that was very personal and impressing. After she was done talking to me, the hygienist asked me once again if I had any questions. So far I've had some fillings and a crown done, and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Yee and her assistants are very pleasant and caring. They're always making sure your okay and comfortable. What I really like about them is that they explain everything that is happening when you're getting anything done. This is important to me due to the fact that I've had a bad experience at a former dental office, and I'm a bit of a wuss. I love how they make you feel as if you're family and will remember past conversations you've had, even if you haven't seen them in months. I strongly discourage anyone from going here. I went to this office three times for an injured tooth (my new insurance company suggested them). When I called to say that my tooth still hurt after two visits, the dentist's advise was for me to come in for a full mouth x-ray. I thought this was very strange since only one tooth hurt. I was concerned that all she wanted was more $$$. I decided to get a second opinion on my tooth from a dentist who I trusted but didn't take my insurance. The dentist who gave me a second opinion agreed with me that there was "absolutely no need" for more x-rays and he used "her" x-rays of my tooth to show me why I was in pain..the crown she put on clearly didn't fit and she damaged the crown when she tried to make it fit (there was a black circle on the crown where she drilled through it). She never told me that she had damaged it. He said that he would not have had me leave his office with this crown if I was his patient b/c it didn't fit. When she put the crown on, she didn't numb my mouth despite me repeatedly saying I was in pain and she had her hygienist initially try to put it on and had her hygienist do the final sealing. The dentist who gave me a second opinion said he always numbs his patients before putting on the crown (she even drilled on my tooth without numbing medication) and he does the work - not his hygienist. I went back to her a third time only so she could take off the crown (it was under warranty anyways), put on a temporary crown, and give me ALL my money back. When I went back this time, she was going to have her hygienist work on me, but I insisted she do all the work, which she did. I also insisted she numb my mouth. She used a numbing medication that affected my eye and my forehead. It made me dizzy and a bit nauseous. I have been seeing a dentist since I was a young child - I've had my mouth numbed several times and have never felt sick, had my eye be numb, or my forehead be numb. (Also, the place is dirty - walls and floors.) Before I left, I was given paperwork which included, at the bottom, the office staff's rude and erroneous comments about me - seriously, how unprofessional can a place be? Their comments said that the dentist who gave the second opinion said the crown was cracked - I never said this. The crown was damaged the day I left the office - I just didn't know that the black circle in the middle was a sign that she had drilled too much on the crown trying to force it to fit. The comments also said they called me to schedule an appointment to fix the crown - this "never" happened. I called them complaining of pain and they called me back offering to take a full mouth x-ray, which I refused b/c I knew this was a scam. Up until now, I have never reviewed a business on the web. I do this to try and prevent anyone else from being taken advantage of by this place...it is unprofessional all around. I wanted to give them zero stars but I guess I have to give at least one. terrible service, the dentist attempt to remove my wisdom tooth but he couldn't get it out..he and his assistant were really rough then the tooth broke in my mouth so he couldnt finish the job because I now needed to go to surgeon for removal. his secretary call and found another office for me to go to but they were unable to get me in for about 2 hours, meanwhile I was in a lot more pain, my mouth was swollen and was leaking blood everywhere. when I arrived at the other office they told me I had to pay 350 for surgery with my insurance, I got upset and requested for the other office to give me my money back since they were unable to help me and I needed the money to cover unexpected cost because of dental error. they argued with me til I started crying and threatend to sue them. It was the worse experience ever and I will never ho back to this office. read more
