Today I was told that they are busy and to leave a voicemail next time. I left a voicemail last week before closing about my aligners. ONE WEEK could shift my teeth in the wrong direction & if they are too busy to call back - why don't they find a more effective way to take care of their #1- oh yeah, the customers. Another time, I switched insurance and my insurance covered two cleanings per year. My gosh the amount of times I called the dentist and my insurance back and forth for a cleaning.... I just saw other Yelp reviews today, but have been coming for cleanings past year or more. I do like Dr Alex Portnoy (sp?) and most of the dental staff. Dr Alex takes the time to explain everything in detail and I enjoy the conversations between the staff during cleanings. It's the worst when i can feel tension between coworkers. Dr Robert (Bob) the orthodontist- also nice, however I got aligners and the past 5 weeks have been a hell of a struggle for a new patient. I have been on Google searching for answers, tips for newbies and ways to help get through the pain. I had zero idea what to expect...no one at the office answered the phone & I felt stranded with $7k bill and no help.

The staff is very friendly, and the doctors are great at explaining everything and making sure I understand the procedures. The only concern I had was with two of the dental assistants. She seemed fairly new, which I completely understand, but during my visit water was spilled on my shirt and I was poked several times while they were working. It didn't seem intentional, just possibly inexperience or nerves. I just think a little more supervision or training would help improve the overall experience. But overall a good place

I was traveling for work -- first Seattle, then Chicago, then DC -- when a few days before my trip,…read moremy zirconia crown fell out. I couldn't find a dentist in Las Vegas before leaving, so I carried the crown with me, hoping to find help while on the road. Weeks passed, and despite calling countless offices in every city I visited, no one could see me. By the time I reached Wheeling, Illinois, the tooth had become extremely sensitive -- eating or drinking anything hot or cold was painful. I was helping a friend decorate for a baptism that weekend when, after calling about ten more places with no luck, I finally found Alto Dental just five minutes away. From the moment I called, I could tell they truly cared. The dentist personally spoke with me, asked thoughtful questions, and explained that while he'd be happy to see me, he would only cement the crown back on if it was truly safe to do so. That honesty gave me so much confidence. When I arrived, the staff was friendly and efficient -- I waited less than five minutes before being seen. The dentist took X-rays, examined everything carefully, cleaned the area, numbed me, and after about an hour of careful work, my crown was perfectly cemented back on. He told me, "This should last you a very long time," and he was right -- it's been great ever since, no pain, no issues, everything back to normal. I can't thank Alto Dental enough for their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. The dentist truly went above and beyond when every other office turned me away. If I lived in Illinois instead of Las Vegas, he would definitely be my permanent dentist!

Additionally, I had to reach out two days later to ask for an appointment after I had sent all my documentation. The two staff members that I dealt with appeared friendly. When I took my son, I was already aware of some of his dental concerns as it's been an ongoing process. However, I was not given the opportunity to explain this to the dental hygienist or dentist. When it was my son's time, a 5-year-old, he was escorted to the back by himself to take x-rays. He is not keen on letting them take X-rays, but I've had him do it with other dentists. I was hopeful to find a local dentist for him instead of driving to another suburb. I was told that after the x-rays, I would be brought to the back to be with him, which didn't happen. Instead, he returned to the front and was told he was done. Then, the front desk employee told me that they couldn't take x-rays and he had cavities (yes, I know, hence, why I needed to go back there with him.) I was given a referral for a specialist, which is fine. I didn't appreciate being unable to be with my 5-year-old as he was examined or that the dentist didn't bother to speak with me about his concerns.
