If you are scared of going to the dentist, this place adds a different dimension to that feeling. Most of the time i spent inside, at least during the first visit, it was some sort of painful sales session. It's the same principle they use when selling timeshares in Orlando: you endure the sales session, and, if you are strong and brave, you get free tickets to some show. Or, like a free pass to a gym, where you have to listen how fat you are and how you're going to die if you don't buy a gym membership. Here the prize is a reduced priced cleaning, or at least what seems to be a reduced price. Quality of service was quite low, probably one the worst scaling I had in a long time; the X-rays were blurry and covering just half of some teeth. Just to be clear, I had X-rays done at least 5 times in the last 10 years, and I never had some done so poorly as here. We would expect the technology to contribute to an increase in quality. I guess this was not the case... But, regardless of the quality of the X-rays the doctor was able to assess that I need thousands of dollars in treatment. I endured the sales speeches and I am happy I got away. Now I'm looking to find some real professionals for my next visit. read more

I went here because I was having wisdom tooth pain and one of them was just making my life absolute terror at night. Since I didn't have dental insurance, I was trying to look for a place that would give me a balance of good treatment and a good rate. When I called Dentalvana, they said that my consultation (including a panoramic x-ray of my mouth) would be free of charge, and I would only pay for the services I decided on. I was surprised and confused on how this could be free, but decided to come in anyway since I thought this would save me money in the long run and their reviews were (almost) all positive. The good: The office is really nice and in a convenient location. Clean and pretty. The staff at the front desk were super professional and kind. Their availability was great and they had many dentists on board so you could literally make an appointment within 24 hours if you needed. The techs and the dentists really acted as if they cared about me as a patient. I felt very welcome here and like they were treating me like family in the consultation. I have never had this many pictures of my teeth and such a detailed exam before. Loved that experience. The dentist did tell me I had a few cavities starting to form around my previous fillings (which he said normally happens with every filling with age). And that my wisdom teeth needed to come out, along with a few other things like a root canal in the future. The bad: When it came to the end of the consultation, they brought me into the "financial" office, and here's where the excitement stopped. When the dentist was looking around my mouth, he was looking for things they could fix, as he should. But they quoted me over $11,000 for the full "suggested" treatment. Keep in mind, I only came in here because I wanted to remove two of my wisdom teeth (which is $800 and up per tooth by the way), so to receive that kind of bill, I was absolutely speechless. The finance lady was very nice, but she was trying her hardest to push me to schedule services at this point (since my consultation was free). She pushed very hard to at least schedule a 95$ teeth cleaning, which I repeatedly declined. Even with their "in-house" insurance, the bill was over 8K. Ended up walking out of there stunned. The worst: I ended up scheduling for removal of 2 wisdom teeth a few days later because I literally was rocking back and forth at night I was in so much pain. I thought that even though they were expensive (1,800$ to remove 2 wisdom teeth), that they would at least provide good service and get rid of this pain ASAP. I was prescribed antibiotics, a mouth rinse, steroid dose pack, and a tiny little pill called triazolam. When I saw the small pill, I was confused and called into the office. Guess what? They don't use laughing gas. This "little pill" was supposed to be my anesthesia. Fast forward through my anxiety and freaking out about getting the teeth removed without laughing gas, I take the first pill as prescribed. Show up into the office feeling NOTHING. They are confused. They tell me to take the second pill, and guess what? It didn't work in time. The only pain relief I had was numbing injections. When I say I was sobbing and shaking in that chair uncontrollably as they ripped out my wisdom teeth and drilled into my jaw, I wish I could be lying. I have pretty high pain tolerance, but this was something just short of absolute torture. When they were done, and I was sitting there with ice on my face. My surgeon started trying to upsell me on services again. With complete disregard to me sitting in pain and sobbing a minute before, he started telling me how they could work with my credit and fix it so I can afford the services. I never said I had bad credit, and in fact, I have great credit because I am responsible in spending my money. So for him to assume this and accuse me of essentially being poor and careless was really bad taste in my opinion. When I got home is when that stupid little pill started working and I fell asleep like a log for the next few hours. In conclusion: Dentalvana has good customer service, and I appreciated the quick booking availability. The office is great and my consultant dentist was kind. Is this place more expensive than others? yes. Would I pay this much for good service? yes. My wisdom teeth holes ended up healing just fine, and I am thankful that I survived that experience. My wisdom tooth removal surgery with the oral surgeon scarred me for life, so even though my teeth healed up fine, I would much rather spend the same amount of money in an office that cares about my comfort and does a good job at the same time. read more

Pros: The office appearance, Dr. Julie & their independent Specialists are all good. Cons: HOWEVER, be mindful of this facility's billing practice and lack of response on patients issues: (1) Dentalvana's "team" is composed of a few independent Drs who work at the N.Miami office on given dates; (2) Dentalvana's finance team doesn't disclose this information when paying for services & instill urgency and fear to get procedures done ASAP; (3) resulting in higher than expected out of pocket expenses as these Drs bill the carriers separately and are considered "out of network" by top carriers like Metlife. Dentalvana charges you first and then submits the insurance claims on your behalf with "assessment of payment" to them rather than sending you the reimbursement check directly to you! When asked to speak to their finance rep about this info & all the reimbursements given by Metlife, she was never ever available nor did she return calls and 4-5 emails sent to her attention. Patients should be alerted at the time of scheduling / payment that the Dr in charge of X procedure is not a Dentalvana member and therefore you might incur higher out of pocket expenses. It is the ETHICAL way of conducting business, specially for a service close to $4K! RECO: Get an estimate and call your insurance provider FIRST to ensure that you were provided the correct information by Dentalvana, and then decide yay or nay. Best dental experience ever! The moment you walk through their door you are gently welcomed with calming green colors, cool music playing at the perfect volume and genuine smiles from the staff. The space is small but cozy, comforting and efficient. I have had a horrific dental experience in the past which has left me so traumatized that I didn't go to the dentist for about 15 years. Nitrous gas doesn't work on me and I can't afford the $2500 for anesthesia. I took good care of my teeth but knew that I had to go to a dentist at some point. So, long story short, I found Dentalvana and made an appointment for a consultation. I come back for the consultation and get this, they actually called me in at my appointment time! When does that ever happen? Was it just a fluke? I'll answer that later. Anyway, they took full X-rays and then brought me to a nice calming room. Some of the staff came in and introduced themselves (I'm horrible in remembering names) and we chatted a bit. I was given a blanket and even some drops of lavender essential oil to rub in my hands and smell. More X-rays and photos were taken and then the dentist came in and we came up with a plan to fix some leaking cavities, put a crown on and the best way to keep me calm during the procedure. But before I could get any of that done, I needed a cleaning. I went back today at 10:58am and was promptly called in for my 11am appointment. It's not a fluke! So that's twice now that a doctors office honored my appointment time. I don't think that's ever happened to me before! Alright, so it's cleaning time and I'm laying down with a comfortable blanket and my headphones on. I take a few deep breathes and am hoping that I won't jump out of the chair. The young lady (I was nervous and immediately forgot her name when she told me...sorry!) who did the cleaning was so gentle, but thorough, that I actually started moving my feet and hands to the music I had blaring in my ears. I was relaxed! I have NEVER felt relaxed at the dentist! NEVER! Ladies and gentlemen, everyone in between, and kids...go to Dentalvana! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. The staff are all very, very nice and extremely efficient. You can't help but smile and feel relaxed when you're there. Now I normally don't write many reviews and I've never written one this long. But it's genuine and I want other people like me, who have had trauma or fear of going to the dentist to know that Dentalvana will work with you to ensure that you have the best experience possible without making you feel diminished. Clean and nice facility. I believe the dentists here do quality work, and keep you informed and educated about what they're going to do. However, I started to feel each visit was becoming more a pushy sales transaction rather that than an experience where you feel the dentist actually cares about your dental health. When I compared my bill to my insurance's EOB (explanation of benefits), there were major discrepancies. My insurance paid this practice, but they had still charged me. Not sure at what point they were going to reconcile this or just let it go as if I would never catch it. In any case, I don't feel comfortable going here anymore and have found a practice that isn't after their patients hard earned $$$. read more

I didn't have the pleasure of formally meeting Dr. Bewley (have heard good things) but the dentist who worked on me, Dr. Webb, was fantastic! She and her dental assistants made sure I was feeling comfortable at all times even while getting several fillings repaired. My experience with Dentalvana has become a nightmare beyond my imagination. I recently went in for a cleaning and fillings. I was presented with a treatment plan to perform some unexpected work that I needed to be done. I met with the treatment coordinator in the front office. She said that my out of pocket expenses would be $2,500 and encouraged me to move forward to prevent the issues that were found from worsening and the price from increasing. I was a bit hesitant; but I decided to move forward with the services using a finance company that they work with since I was already there. Then, my troubles really began. Some of the work I needed required 3D imaging in order for custom porcelain pieces to be milled for my teeth. Each time I came in thinking I was going to get them put it, they'd apologize and say they needed to perform the imaging process again. Before I went in for the 3rd time, I specifically asked if the pieces were ready and made it clear that I wasn't interested in driving to their office only for them not to be ready. I was told yes. Lo and behold, the pieces were not done upon arrival. They did more 3D imaging and had me sit there waiting for the pieces to be fabricated on-site. Moving past the work being done: billing became a big problem. As previously mentioned, Dentalvana offered me an opportunity to finance the work I needed that wouldn't be covered by my insurance. They not only charged me out of network rates, but also failed to file the claim for the most expensive part of the work! Therefore, I was encouraged to sign a contract for a loan based on inaccurate information! When I called to complain, they redirected me to their so called billing department(which actually stopped returning my calls and answering for me). The office manager blatantly mentioned that the paperwork presented to me was only an estimate, and should not have been considered the final bill. Really? The loan statements and automatic payments deducted from my account certainly seemed real and final. They forewarned me that the price could possibly increase if more necessary work was discovered during treatment, but never mentioned that they may've overcharged and might need to reimburse me. Once I was able to get the claim filed, they put 2 different doctors on the claims. One was in network. One was out of network. Neither one of them was the actual dentist that performed my work!!! I'd never seen the doctors on my claims in my life! Ever! They refunded some of the overpayment back to the finance company in hopes of quelling me. The insurance company ended up sending me a check for the claims they made after I complained that they weren't filed. After numerous phone calls, I paid the amount of the insurance check to Dentalvana directly and they credited that amount back to the finance company also, bringing my balance down to what what it should've been initially. The problem now is that the interest being charged to me, as well as the overall monthly payment amount is still reflective of a $2500 loan!! I'm already out of $40 in interest for the first payment I made. I had a a couple staff members within Dentalvana try to bounce me around to others stating it's the other person's responsibility to help me with this. Even the finance company bounced me back to the dental office, saying it's on them to help me have the contract and payments reconstructed. I just give up. I've cried about this nightmare experience on more than one occasion. This has been going on for several weeks! I've wasted countless hours of productive time away from my own business calling all parties involved and sending emails. It's safe to say it was a big mistake ever stepping foot in this practice. I simply refuse to call any of the parties involved ever again. I refuse to beg and plead for adequate assistance. My insurance company has offered me the opportunity to file a grievanceagainst a them. I've also been encouraged to report them to the better business bureau. I'm honestly just exhausted from dealing with this. Due to the unwillingness of any of the parties involved to restructure the loan so that I am not being screwed over, I am unwilling to make another payment towards the finance account. As a result, I now have to look forward to a negative credit report for a loan that I so stupidly allowed the very much incompetent administrative personnel at Dentalvana convince me to take out. My advice: Avoid Dentalvana. Go elsewhere! No matter where you go, always ask questions! Always talk to your insurance company before you authorize major work. Get a second opinion. Be sure you're charged in-network rates if that's what you're expecting. Don't move fast or in fear! If you ARE NOT in any pain(as I was not), go home and think about the situation. And certainly do not let your guard down based on smiling faces and an abundance of positive online reviews. These factors can be extremely misleading. Best of luck! read more

I'm so glad that I found this place. After moving from downtown further north to this area I was worried that I would not be able to find a good dentist. After searching on yelp and reading some reviews I found Dental Vana. From the first time I called the office I was immediately impressed. Customer service is wonderful, they are more than willing to accommodate with scheduling, and very proactive with letting you know what your benefits are. I've had multiple cleanings here over the past year and never been disappointed. The dentist is great, all of the hygienists are wonderful, and they give great advice on preventative care and maintenance. I've already referred multiple family members and friends here. I really wanted to like them because they seemed so nice at first. They suggested a major repair, which I agreed to be cause it seemed necessary. But then ... 1) I spent 3.5 hours in the office to have a tooth prepared for a crown, which usually takes about 1 hour. 2) I will admit that I spent about 2 hours waiting around in my chair. 3) They took probably 10 x-rays of my mouth and did not put a led apron on me. Call me silly, but I did not like that. 4) They gave me almost no explanations of what was being done during the procedure. Much of the work was done by the technician, who didn't really speak English, so she has an excuse, but the doctor did not explain much either. 5) When I asked the doctor to walk me through the process and explain what she was doing, she got irritated and seemed annoyed by my questions. 6) The technician put on a temporary crown. I said "It doesn't feel right". She polished it a little. I said "It still doesn't feel right". She said "No, it is fine". I asked for the doctor, who looked at it, and then spent another 15 minutes fixing it... 7) Then, just two days later, that temporary crown completely fell off my tooth. 8) After polishing both the temporary crown and the perfectly healthy tooth below, the doctor just left the room, without saying goodbye or anything, and never came back. 9) And here is the kicker: They were going to put a gold crown right on top of a 20+ year old amalgam filling. Pleasant staff. They were able to provide x-rays & consultation with the New Patient Package $79, but were not able to provide the basic cleaning included in the package (which had to be requested by the doctor). I was not seen by Julia Bewley, DMD, but Dr. Michelle Webb. We explored various options of dental care and treatment. Unfortunately, she didn't have anything positive to say before addressing HER concerns. As she minimized my request, she didn't seem okay with the fact that I wanted to take more time to think about the next steps in treatment. She ushered in the treatment coordinator to take care of me. Even though dental care is a part of healthcare, it is still a business. Nothing could have been a better example as when the treatment coordinator Michelle (no last name given) came in and advised me that a deep cleaning is what the doctor recommended and it would cost $550. When I declined and asked for the cleaning that came with the New Patient Package, she left the room to consult with the doctor. She came back with something in-between for $150. I found this action to be a bit too sales-pitchy for me and it completely turned me off. They should have come through on the basic cleaning as a measure of trust & honesty. Good hook of a sales tactic strategy, but dishonest and unsatisfactory delivery. I should mention that I was paying out-of-pocket awaiting my insurance. My educated guess is that the "good reviews" are for patients that get billed through their insurance. Perhaps I would have been given different options if I was going through my insurance. Also, the good reviews may have something to do with a sign they had the treatment room to post reviews/instagram in order to win a whitening treatment. I'll never know cause I'll never go back. Either way, their sense of urgency should have been directed toward accommodating my request; instead, their sense of urgency was to get me in quickly, catastrophize my situation, and up-sell procedures. I took my 3 year old daughter here for her first dentist appointment and they far exceeded my expectations. I must say I was extremely nervous because this place wasn't a specialized pediatric dentist, but I don't feel like I missed out on anything. We was seen by Riki, who started the appointment by first making sure my daughter and I was comfortable because if this first appointment was terrifying I would have issues in the future. Riki allowed my daughter to be apart of the teeth cleaning process by explaining the tools, letting her hold a tool, and letting her know when she was going to do something different. That helped her get an understanding of what dentist do because she was literally scared to go to the dentist before we explained to her she wasn't getting a shot.
