Have you ever been to a dentist that does not accommodate emergencies for established patients? Neither have I until I became a patient of this practice. The hygienist was great but the dentists and staff were the worst! The front desk staff knew nothing at all about dentistry. They had no clue as to dental issues. What could improve? Bigger office. Working areas for staff and patients are all much, much too small. "Dentistry on St. Michaels" feels start to finish a little like a pop-up dentistry in a war zone; a bit of exciting atmosphere but not a recommended one. I was told I must return to the office within two days after my root canals for permanent crowns--but each time staff on phone--after my root canals--told me sorry, no appts available for weeks--sorry. Over weeks and even one time over a month--I had to fear temp crowns would break or become infected and a new root canal could be needed. Appts that should take a half hour can take three hours, as you do not have staff devoted to just you and your appt. They, poor things, the jumping-around staff, must leave you to go work on many other people and eventually, many people later, wind their way back to you, you waiting and wondering and listening and tense in your chair. I am a survivor of a two-day sepsis episode in an ICU years ago: I now for peace of mind and possibly to prevent another dangerous episode require two tiny amoxicillin capsules before any dental appt. All dental offices all my life have given these to me on request, but not this one: a clearly angry office manager did not believe me about my surgeries, or the metal hardware in my leg, or my previous sepsis infection; she told me I must bring in something signed by one of my former surgeons. Amoxicillin these days is cheap and does not harm the patient in that tiny dose, my surgeon said to me; he said I must always request it. He said he was puzzled by their need for me to prove my need--said he couldn't make them give me amoxicillin, all he could do was write the note, and hope it helped. If you come in for a cleaning you can be stunned to hear, when you ask "No Xray exams?" that no, there won't be, that day, because your dentist is only in two days a week, and your dentist would have to review them. Three days of the week your dentist is in Albuquerque. Make another appt for the exams, please! I thought one day it was my duty to tell the dentist after a pain injection that it was the most painful shot I had ever experienced. To my horror, the dentist simply looked at me, eyes unchanged, and let the comment fade. That dentist's day, I suddenly realized, had been so crazy and overpacked and harrowing she was at wits' end. The shot was done and that had been all that mattered. No thanks to all. Apparently that "Saint" in their title is meant to cover a lot of sins of omission, and express hope that something run on the cheap in too small an office and with too few dentists in a town too terribly desperate for good dental care--can cheerfully wing it and survive. I wish each and every one of these employees at "Dentistry on St.Michaels"--desk staff and hygienists and even the dentists--finds a next and better place to be. And each helps the rest to do so, too. (In the majority of the staff there is a real sweetness.) You all deserve a better and prouder place, just as any wishing-on-a-star dental patient does. read more

I was happy here for years, until about 8 months ago when the original dentists left. Since then the place has badly fallen apart. Taken 5 months to put in one crown, and STILL not done! I've never experienced anything like this. Such a shame. read more

Recently this company was acquired by an unknown entity. At that time my insurance that I had used at this location for 4 years was no longer "in network". This company DIDN'T inform that insurance was not "in network" after the purchase. So I go into a cleaning thinking that my insurance was "in network" not 1 notification even as I am checking in, not any notification as I am checking out. Later that week I receive notice from insurance that they are not in network, and my cost for a cleaning was $100 because not in network Thanks dentistry on saint Michael's for cost me a Benjamin when it should have cost me NOTHING. So how many others were caught by their lack of transparency? I would give them a 0 if possible. Never again. I'll go to comfort dental or just take a trip to Mexico. Dr Ivers has been extremely professional with me. I've had three crowns done and she's been extremely attentive to my very sensitive mouth. I find her to be very intelligent compassionate and kind. She listens well and I'm very happy with her work. My only concern with the office is they do not give out any painkillers pain medication and this is very disturbing as I had an extraction done and it's been 6 days and I'm still in pain. New Mexico may have a problem with distributing pain medication but the status not the fault of patience who are currently experiencing pain we should not have to pay the price for the negligible prescriptions written by doctors years ago. I hope that the dentist at dentistry on St Mike's get there authorization to be able to give pain medication soon and when they do I will have another crown done with Dr Ivers I highly recommend Dr Ivers so nowcan I add to my review the front desk especially Desiree is wonderful and annalize and Lisa are also extremely friendly and professional that's what I want to add thank you Therese read more

I came in as a new patient. Dr. Ivers was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, and explained the treatment recommended to me. The hygienist Shari took her time and cleaned my teeth thoroughly. The nurse Lisa was so sweet and made sure I was comfortable. The front staff is terrible. First off, every time, I called no one would answer the phone and I left four messages and they never returned my call. As you walk-in there is a UNFRIENDLY woman to didn't smile and barely greeted us. Her name is Des? As a business owner, I cannot fathom that they allow this person to be greeting patients much less have contact with them. She clearly hates her job and doesn't care about this office The manager clearly has to see what is going on. I was told this office is owned by a dentist in Albuquerque, I am going to make an effort to locate the owner to share my concerns over this employee. read more

This place is genuinely just so bad. I took my grandfather for an appointment because his teeth were bothering him. Right off the bat the people at the front desk were rude, it's kinda early in the morning so I get that. My grandpa finally gets taken back after 30 minutes of waiting, then has to wait another 45 for the doctor. All the dental assistants were also very rude. Dentists- M Lawrence Larragoite and Robert Chiarito are way too old and need up to date training. Dr. Larragoite worked on partials for my mother and could not get them right after 4 visits to the office. She finally gave up and reported him to her insurance to file a grievance and claim. Dr. Chairito did a crown and drilled too far into my back molar injuring my nerve and now I have to go for a root canal at a different dentist. I reported them to my insurance as well to file a grievance and claim. I just left this office so disgusted and disappointed. I took a couple of family members to the office. I waited patiently at the front desk. I could not believe the words coming out of the office manager's mouth. She was gossiping about some staff members and a dentist on staff. I know other patients were hearing the absolute unprofessional nonsense coming out of her mouth. In addition she was stuffing her face at the front desk which to me is so against OSHA standards. The current staff member upfront a women who is unhygienic, she doesn't look like she brushes her teeth and washes her hair was laughing at the comments the manager was making. In all the years we have visited this office, this is the first time, I have seen it so bad. The unfortunate thing, is the back staff is stellar and so professional. I also heard the dirty employee that they were booked up for months and months, and yet we saw so many staff members hanging out upfront. The previous manager had a focused office staff and she exhibited so much professionalism. This manager appears to have been raised the hood. I left so DISGUSTED, I am going to post a facebook post on this manager and her filthy PROTEGE. My son had ortho by the owner dentist, I feel the need to reach out to him in person when he is at this office. It's sad that an office who has been great is affected by the woman who acts like a clown and not a manager. Running a dental office requires good work ethics from the leaders. It appears that food and gossiping is her only priority. The employee who doesn't tend to her appearance should be relieved of her duties. I called and made an appointment to have my teeth cleaned. They said they would need to take x-rays and an exam first. I said fine. The dental assistant took x-rays and a dentist came in and did a minor cursory exam. He counted my teeth and made note on my fillings. They said they were finished. I asked about the teeth cleaning. They said their policy was to schedule patients in the future for a cleaning. No one told me the.....ever. I was dismayed because I explicitly told them I was there for a cleaning. I talked to the front office and questioned them on the issue. Anna was very rude and said that when I called I didn't mention a cleaning. She was wrong. Be very careful at this practice. The admin at the front desk has provided incorrect insurance information, and their pricing is high above other practice rates. The customer service by the admin generally is not helpful and sometimes downright rude. Why pay more to be treated with little respect. And they don't stand by their work, quality is not of concern. Worst dentist ever!! Dr. David is absolutely horrible. I have had tons of dental work and never have I experienced what I have here. Not only have I been in pain for months but they missed a ginormous infection where I had been complaining of pain. Was told over and over that it was my bite. Told to take ibuprofen and Tylenol so much and so long that I am having kidney issues. Finally after over $$$4000 in and 3 new crowns... I am still in horrible pain. Went to new dentist to find out I have a bad infection in a tooth I had been asking about and concerned about. Way to drop the ball and keep a patient in horrible pain more months!! read more

I am fairly new to Santa Fe and I can say that never in my life have I been in a place where healthcare workers could care less about the people they're supposed to be helping . So I haven't had a chance to establish a dentist yet and at the end of January one of my back teeth flared up to the point where I could not eat and the whole left side of my face was swollen . Dentistry on St Michael's was one of three dentists that my insurance company told me that was in network and I called them and emailed them and told them my situation and their response to me was "we are not taking new patients until the end of February and that will be only an x-ray and an exam." And when I asked what they recommend I should do since I obviously had an infection I was told to call around and see who would see me first . I ended up going to my PCP to get antibiotics and here we are a month later and I've already called 10 other dentists and not one of them have returned my call and the toothnis starting to flare up again. An infection in the tooth can easily go to the brain or the heart so shame on all of you . read more

Seek care elsewhere. Dr. Chiarito was recommended to me by someone who had an implant. I trust my friend who recommended me, but I did not have a positive experience. I have extensive dental issues due to a hereditary condition. Dr. Chiarito did an estimate of the services needed, and not only did he charge a fortune for the estimate, he did not make an honest assessment of my situation and did not take a modern dental 360 CT scan of my mouth. The office did not appear to have much modern equipment at all. In addition, the office staff consistently pushed some kind of Medicare Advantage (there were brochures everywhere) for which I am not eligible. I strongly suspect they are getting a kickback, but, in any case, I made it clear several times that I am fortunate in that I can pay for the services and money is not an issue. In any case, as an update, I went to a more modern dentist in another state and received modern dental scans and a totally different recommendation for services. Also, I was treated with a great deal more respect and decency. These guys are amateurs, mascaraing a big shots. read more

Every facet of this dentistry is of high standard. I am pleased with how courteous the staff is and overall the customer service is excellent. The reception area and exam rooms are clean, orderly, and newly updated. Every member of the staff I've interacted with is knowledgeable in their respective positions and made me feel valued as a customer and patient. The attention to detail and the feedback I received is most appreciated. In my experience, not all businesses operate at this level so I'm confident in saying this is a dentistry worth considering for all your dental needs. I would recommend this dentistry and I happy I made the right choice. I look forward to working with this dentistry for all my future dental needs. Thanks again! I had to have two crowns replaced. It took multiple visits for the dentist to 'get it right' and in the interim I suffered greatly from the pain on each, and even pain in my jaw for more than a week after each procedure and major headaches. Replacing a crown should take two visits; for me it was multiple times, even four visits to get out of pain for the second one. The hygienist Shari is super. The office management staff doesn't know left from right. There is constant turnover. They are impolite. For the first time, I just received for the first time an email bill today for a procedure from months ago, for which I was supposedly previously unbilled. They told me to pay it in 15 days or they will contact Collections as a fear tactic, when the mistake and oversight is their own. I had the crown treatments divided in two; I paid the first one (they make you pay upfront and THEN you have to get your insurer to compensate you). It's all about the money. They dared to accuse me of not having paid the second half and 'keeping the payment from the insurance company rather than paying them' and off to Collections we go. Avoid this office, unless you want to deal with incompetent office staff and a dentist who requires multiple visits to finally make the pain go away and do his job correctly, right from the beginning. read more
