Echoing other reviews, get a second opinion! The dentist bluntly shared that I needed my remaining 2 wisdom teeth removed. I thought this was surprising and strange because my last two dentists I trust have never expressed any concern or even a mention of monitoring this for future consideration. The clinic swiftly scheduled a consultation. I went in to my previous, long time dentist because I didn't trust this advice and he said this was an aggressive and unnecessary recommendation. What a waste of time! Thank goodness I was wise enough to seek better guidance, not waste thousands on a painful and unnecessary procedure. It took 2 hours for a basic cleaning appointment that typically takes 1 hour. When I requested my X-rays be sent to the other office, this was not done so I had to call 3 times to get them to send. They did not send the panoramic x ray so my previous dentist VERY kindly gave me a free one. I think he felt bad for me for being mistreated here and saw that I had requested but not received the xrays requested. Terrible experience! This place is a joke in so many ways.First thing the different Dr's in and out of this place.Never see them stay long enough. They tryed to charge me for a redue of my crown, there fault. I wouldn't recommend this place. Some of the practices were shady here. For instance, they lied that my insurance would cover everything for deep cleaning. I ended up paying a lot for that. They were also very pushy and wanted to schedule surgery for my molar removal after I said I don't want it right now. They kept calling until I started ignoring their calls. read more

Went in for a cleaning and ended up also having a filling replacement appointment with Dr Shin. I didn't have a good experience with my appointment, it was felt rushed, impersonal and the communication was seriously lacking. I was made to feel like I am a bother vs. actually cared for.. the doctor did not give me a heads up before he gave me an injection, or tell me what was coming at all. The person who who take the x rays told me I would have my filling replacement done first and then cleaning but the opposite was done. Overall, I felt really bad. I do not recommend. I felt that they were also trying to sell the more expensive treatment to me which my insurance does not cover. I like to be treated with respect and kindness, something that all patients deserve. Having had problems with strip mall dentists in the past, I took the time to check this place out before I considered becoming a new patient. I explained to them that they would have to call both of my two dental insurance companies before doing anything expensive. I told them they would have to rattle out the technical terms and billing codes themselves. I explained that i want to be informed of all of the costs up front. Guess what? They weren't willing to do that. No go! I don't trust people who are not going to prioritize advance notice of all of the costs. I wrote this review today after reading a dozen of the recent reviews of this place. Most other of their other reviewers have raised the twin questions of billing and honesty. Myrna Francisco ​ You ​ A full crown was recommended to me, and so in April 2023 I went in for the restoration procedure. Dr. Shin told me a full crown would be installed, and I was billed for that full crown. In the follow-up visits I informed Dr. Shin that the crown felt wrong in texture and in contouring. After unsuccessful attempts to fix the crown's contours, he recommended a bridge. So then I sought a second opinion from two other doctors. It was confirmed that not only was I given an onlay crown (though billed for full crown) these other dentists advised that the width and contouring of the crown were less than optimal, and that the crown needs to be redone to be corrected. In continuing discussion of amending billing statements/insurance codes and discussing reimbursement. resolution is yet to be reached as I await their confirmation of agreement. I hate to do this, but care has gone dramatically downhill over the last year or so. Previously I was so impressed with my cleanings, crowns and Dr. Shin's service, but he seems to be busy and stressed. Distracted or just annoyed at his patients. Two cleanings ago my lip was suctioned repeatedly to the point of severe blisters. He was busy chatting and didn't seem to notice he was suctioning my lip right in front. It was incredibly painful. After someone helping from another clinic came to finish my cleaning and the machine broke. Water spilled everywhere, and she never finished rinsing the polish or cleaning my teeth. I let that visit slide because my experience had always been so great! No pressure for floride, cleanings by the dentist and great office service. When the Eric (think that was his name left) it changed dramatically. I returned and was told I needed a crown for a very broken tooth due to grinding. They said if I didn't get it done immediately I would lose it or need a root canal and I was very concerned. I couldn't afford it now that the cost had doubled (even though my coverage increased) but they worked with me to take pmts. I was thankful as a single mama but imagine my surprise when I arrived and they work on a completely different tooth! What the actual... I didn't even know what to say and it was too late to change. The tooth they did was one that had needed a crown for dang near a decade, but it hadn't negatively progressed and it was just something we were watching. The correct tooth never got taken care of and at my next cleaning, yes I returned like an idiot. No one said a dang thing about that tooth even though it was much worse now. I was so rushed that I didn't even feel like I had time to say anything about pain or what was happening or mention the fact I had pain for over 6 months after the last crown. I went from feeling so safe here to being miserable. Billing practices feel shady and my family experienced bills for services they didn't receive like flouride and a lack of concern when it was given without consent to a patient who doesn't use it and cannot have it. Get back to your roots and you can turn this around! I will be hard pressed to find somewhere I feel safe going or like the way I used to love it here, but I guess it is what it is. read more

I woke up during the night with a piece of my tooth floating around in my mouth... panic ensued! Being new to WA, I wasn't yet established at a Dental office. The next morning I turned to Yelp and found Dentists of Mill Creek. Since my tooth dilemma occurred after hours I took to their website and found I was easily able to schedule an emergency appointment. I was in complete shock when they had the same-day availability which I scooped up! The receptionist was friendly & welcoming when I arrived. She helped me set up a MyChart account. My emergency visit consult was $0 and included X-rays of the affected tooth. It was great to know that I wasn't spending an exuberant amount of money just to find out what was going on. I was already scared of how much it was going to cost. The hygienist took me back for X-rays and was through explaining things. Dr. Koh was the dentist I saw and she was fantastic. We reviewed the X-rays together and she was able to explain why my tooth broke (huge sneaky cavity). She was straightforward with the care plan she recommended and clearly reviewed the obstacles we may face depending on what we found. I love that she took the time to show me photos of my tooth and explained everything. She did this several times as well throughout the procedure. I felt included in the decision making and well informed. Dr. Koh even showed me the machine sculpting my tooth while it was in action! Pretty cool!!! Oh they used this neat bite block that had a tongue guard with built in suction so I didn't have a saliva pond in the back of my mouth. I always secretly worry about my tongue being in harms way when there's a drill but this device put my mind at ease. Honestly, everyone I encountered at the office was friendly, enjoyable to talk to, and helpful. Dr. Koh & her team are fantastic! I had a permanent crown put on the same day! No leaving with a temp & going back in two weeks for the permanent one. They also accept CareCredit for payment which is huge since crowns are not cheap. Unfortunately I have to update my review to reflect our most recent interaction with Dentists of Mill Creek. On 12/30/22 my husband was quoted $1419.20 for a root canal, including some extra services he might not need, but they included them in the pricing to reflect the highest possible amount it could end up being. He scheduled the procedure that same day for 01/20/23 which was the first available appointment. The procedure took hours longer than he was told, at one point the dentist and the dental assistant stopped what they were doing and stepped out of the room to go set up a room for another patient, and he had to correct the hygienist because she was taking X-rays on the wrong side of his mouth. At check out he set up a payment plan with the clinic, paid the deposit, and tired and in pain, he left. He wasn't given a break down of the charges or information on his treatment, only the break down of the payment schedule. Later that night he was looking over the payment plan and realized he was over charged by $400. We could not get in touch with the clinic over the weekend and had to wait until the office manager Jessica called back on Tuesday. When my husband explained the discrepancy between the estimate he had been given and the amount he was charged, Jessica responded very matter-of-factly that the prices had gone up in 2023. My husband explained how he had just been in on 12/30, booked his procedure at the time he received the estimate, and was not informed in any way that the pricing would be different. He also explained how he was not informed of any pricing change when he checked in for the procedure nor when he was checking out. At this point Jessica became irate and insisted that she knew he was given all of this information and that he had signed a new estimate and agreed to the charges, because "she was there". My husband explained that he never signed a new estimate and had only signed, what he was told, was consent for treatment and terms for the payment plan. At this point Jessica changed her story from being certain that he was given this information in front of her face to saying that he should have asked for this information if he wanted it. Shame on us for trusting the pricing they gave us as accurate and transparent. My husband explained that not only should his estimate be honored, but if he was going to have the procedure after the pricing changed he should have been quoted that pricing in the first place. Jessica responded that the receptionist didn't even know the pricing was going to change, that this all "just happened". She refused to honor the estimate and instead offered to "compromise" with us by giving us a $200 discount. My husband requested she send him a copy of his treatment plan and what all he was charged for. When reviewing the information he realized those extra services that were in the original estimate were not performed during the procedure. Instead the clinic over charged him by more than $500. What should have been a $1200 root canal is now suddenly $1700 and we were even billed for extra services labeled as "discounts". At this time Dentists of Mill Creek has not stepped up to correct this issue and no solution has been reached. This is a dishonest and unethical business and Jessica was completely unprofessional and unwilling to do the right thing. Needless to say we will not be coming back to this office, nor can we in good conscience recommend them to our friends and family. read more

I love this place. Dr. Shin takes care of me like he'a family. He cares about his patients and there teeth. He's the type of dentist that you'll make sure your teeth are healthy because you don't want to disappoint him. Dentists of Mill Creek is a really clean facility and they are always on point. I'm not sure why this place has good reviews. My appointment had everything going wrong - X-ray machine did not work so no X-ray or cleaning was done, they were late and out time so no cleaning was done, the dentist left the exam room door open and kept talking to the staff walking by about some song she wanted to play, there glasses/ equipment kept falling to the floor and not sanitized, there wasn't air circulation so felt really stuffy in there. Let us start with how deeply I hate visiting the dentist. I had a crappy dentist as a child who did not know how, or was unable to, properly numb me. I have four molars that are weak and chalky due to a high fever when my teeth were developing. So every time I went to the dentist, I needed a filling and it hurt. A lot. It got to the point that I would have an anxiety attack as an 8 year old child if the 1-800-DENTIST commercials came on. I got over a lot of the phobia as an adult because intellectualism, and dental health more important, but I still have intense anxiety and fear at the dentist. So yesterday I had a first appointment with Dr. Shin. It had been like 7 years since my last visit to any dentist. I ended up needing two fillings and two crown replacements. The fillings are done. Dr. Shin numbed the shin (get it?) out of me and I, for the first time in my life, did not have nerve pain in my tooth while getting a filling. I've scheduled my other visits for the crowns and will update this review once those are done. In addition, the staff was kind and supportive, and everyone seemed pretty goshdarn competent. They did a careful review of my out-of-pocket costs based on my insurance coverage so no surprises there. Biggest complaint I have is they don't do nitrous oxide, but that is why the great unknown (or big pharma, whatevs) created benzodiazapines. Just remember, take care of your teeth and you're taking care of your heart!! read more

At 6:30 PM my husband broke a tooth, and our regular dentist was closed. We were leaving on vacation early the next morning, and were scrambling to find an emergency dentist. I called the office and they agreed to get him in even though we had not established care. They stayed open, took amazing care of him, and did a crow, working until 8 pm. Amazing! Dr. Koh is a great dentist. I'm very nervous about going to the dentist but she and the staff were awesome. Dr. Koh is gentle and her staff was great at cleaning while Dr Koh worked on my Crown. I had 2 Crowns done and I was just so happy that I wasn't nervous. The 1st Crown healed very quickly with minimal tenderness when I was eating something kind of hard. I went to consult this dental clinic in July to ask if my insurance can be used? Miss Jessica at the front desk said it can be used. So I went to the clinic and told her my insurance number and emphasized that I was on student insurance. If the insurance didn't cover it, I couldn't afford to have my teeth cleaned. She registered my name, phone number, birthday, insurance number. She directly asked me to take the photo and after the photo was taken, she provided the list. She said that my insurance would cover it and that I needed a deep cleaning. I told her I just wanted a normal teeth cleaning and she insisted on a deep cleaning. They said my insurance would cover it and I would have to wash it in two installments. The washing experience was very bad. On the first day, too much anesthesia was applied and my face became swollen and swollen. On the second day, the dentist used very heavy anesthesia and the anesthesia was applied very deeply. I don't think I'll ever visit this dental clinic again. When the bill arrived, I paid usd194. Two months later, she told me that the insurance failed and asked me to continue paying usd640.5. I felt very strange and I went to communicate with Ms. Jessica twice with a very bad attitude. The second time, I even felt physically attacked and racially discriminated against. She even discriminated against my friends and classmates. She felt that no one I knew was as smart as her. She tried to make me sit down very rudely and tried to close the door. I felt very scared and then I left. I called the insurance and asked about it. The insurance said that the school insurance has a condition that only people under 19 years old will be covered to see a dentist. I didn't believe it, because I had a tooth that needed to be filled. I called another clinic and she said I didn't have dental insurance. I asked why she replied that it was the same as the insurance company's and that it was under 19. So why do I have to pay for Miss Jessica's mistakes? This is consumer fraud. read more

This place is wonderful! I'm unfortunately not a big fan of seeing a Dentist for a cleaning let alone a repair or eeek an emergency. Well I discovered I had an emergency that could not be ignored. I called and spoke to the front desk and asked what questions I could given I didn't know what was going on with my mouth except I was in pain and I had heard and felt a crack while eating popcorn! I was able to get in, and they took a few simple X-rays and discovered I needed an extraction asap. Dr. Koh was very patient with my questions that I asked. From the start the front office staff is warm and welcoming and makes you feel at home. The process is smooth and made easy. My experience at Dr Shins office exceeded my expectations. He is very thorough and has a very practical approach to care. His office is definitely a no judgement zone, and he makes taking the next steps so simple by explaining everything and guiding us through the lingo. He takes pride in his work and has top of the line equipment for all your dental needs. He had posters in his office about dental implants in two hours that impressed me and made my husband open to having a missing back tooth that he doesn't care much about implanted at his next visit. I haven't been to the dentist in a while I've been so nervous to find a new one because like so many people I get very anxious at the dentists office. I am so happy I found this office tho! Dr. Koh is incredible!!! I went in for a consultation and she was able to do a deep cleaning for me the same day! While I was about to start the cleaning I had a full meltdown and Dr. Koh gave me a few minutes to calm down and her assistant came in and gave me a blanket and helped me out! My family and I found Dr. Shin when our dentist in Seattle sold his practice. We liked his caring and honest attitude as well as the good work. Dr. Shin likes to do things right and a perfectionist. He is not happy unless the job meets his standards. He is gentle when giving you bad news and is patient in explaining options and costs. I have never left his office with unanswered questions. When he moved to join a practice in Ballard we followed him there (11/2 hour drive from Renton on a GOOD day). We have now followed him to his new location and like the shorter commute. read more
