My issue comes in with the business office and their less then stellar practices. We've always paid our estimates at time of service and any additional balances in instances where the estimates may have been slightly off. They continue to state that we have a "family" balance that has to be paid before they will schedule follow up visits. This balance has been reviewed with the business office against the EOB from my insurance in which the EOB does not reflect any patient responsibility. They are trying to balance bill for amounts they should contractually be writing off. This alone has put a bitter take in my mouth and forced me to start looking elsewhere for treatment. ​

I was charged $250 out-of-pocket for a "deep cleaning" that they coded as 4 quadrants, even though only 3 quadrants were actually treated. They also separated and billed procedures that should have been included in the deep cleaning, turning what should have been around $65 into a $250 bill. When I contacted my insurance company, they confirmed that the clinic's billing did not align with the covered services. I've been trying to reach the clinic for the past 4 days -- no one answers, and the number they gave me doesn't even connect. This is completely unprofessional and feels like a scam. The deep cleaning itself was rushed and lasted less than 30 min. I strongly suggest double-checking every code and estimate before agreeing to any treatment here.

She recommended unnecessary dental procedures and was unwilling to perform the straightforward extractions I requested for the two unhealthy, decayed teeth and provide a partial denture to restore function, health and appearance. Additionally, she did not do the cleaning I originally came in for. It seemed her primary focus was on maximizing insurance payments rather than addressing my actual needs as a patient. She was willing to extract if I went with the implant but not willing to extract since I decided to go with the partial. Go at your own risk. The smiles are big but the lining of their pockets are bigger and your preferences for your teeth are disregarded if you don't choose what is being recommended.

If you are on the fence on finding a dentist or wanting to find a new dentist, congratulations you've just found your forever dentist. I am very picky about dentists, it takes time to build trust and know that you're in good hands. In fact, I kept the same dentist for ten years and traveled over an hour to make each appointment. I was very apprehensive and wanted to stay with what I knew. Life got busier and then COVID hit, I fell behind in my dental visits and I took the opportunity to do some research to see if there was a dentist closer to home. I am so glad I did. I was very impressed at the new technology that Dr. Bartz uses, it definitely made the visit easier and seemed to go much faster.
