At here last week. Lots of good, and not so good. I had the chicken parmesan. It was very good and prepared as I asked. But, for $28 it should include a little side of pasta, like almost every other restaurant. It didn't. A small pasta side is $8. It was just the chicken. The chopped salad was very good. A bit pricey for the size, but tasty. Charging for bread with a salad order is cheap. And, it was not freshly baked, but it was slices with oil or butter and toasted. Good but should come with a meal. The tiramisu was very average. The pasta Bolognese had a spice I did not like. Coke comes in tiny bottles so you have to order more if you want enough for your meal. The decor and outdoor area are very nice. I felt like the restaurant was trying to squeeze out every last penny and nickel and diming me to bits. Raise the price a dollar or two and include bread and a side of pasta. read more

Food is beyond delicious. Our family had several dishes and all were superb. We dined on a Friday evening and close an outdoor table. Delightful. If it is possible for service to exceed the delicious food, then that is the case. I had the gluten-free pizza, which was great, and the garlic knots. Those could have been baked a little more to have that golden brown texture. The interior is very dark, and I have vision issues. Went here with my parents for a late bday dinner and was treated to a great meal and service. We sat on the patio which was so cute and every table was about taken. The inside was super cute as well but only walked thru quick for the restrooms that were located a flight of stairs down. As soon as we arrived they handed us personalized menus with a little bday message on them which is always cute with a small glass of prosecco as well. We started off ordering the chopped salad that we all very much enjoyed and was definitely enough to split between 3 people. Then ordered the cavatelli alla joe, tonnarelli w sun gold pomodoro, and lumache arrabiata aka spicy rigatoni. The cavatelli was so good and the braciole was new to us and tasted amazing. The tonarelli was a bit bland but the flavor grew as u continue to eat- but could def pass this one up next time. The spicy rigatoni was perfection, a bit spicier than i was expecting but made it so good so be careful if ur sensitive to spice. Our waiter and other staff were great and very attentive, kind, and communicative. He took us through any questions we had specifically on what was in a couple dishes as there is not any explanation on the menu itself, but he was very knowledgeable and continued to let us know to ask him any qs. Finally we ordered the pistachio gelato and to my surprise also came with the chocolate gelato with a candle. These were SO GOOOOOD. We were so full but couldnt let them melt without finishing. A solid Italian American dining experience. Ambiance is great, perfect for a date night or girls night out. Came here with a friend and we had the grilled calamari, caesar salad, cavatelli ragu alla joe and the white sauce clam pizza. The clam pizza was by far the best I've had in Chicago. Nice crispy thin crust, with a garlicy sauce that wasn't too overpowering. Everything was excellent! The pasta dish was very tasty too, fresh homemade pasta with braciola, meatball, and sausage. We had the pistachio blondie sunade for dessert - that was the only dish which I wasn't a huge fan of but more of personal preference. My friend said the tiramisu here is excellent so I'll definitely be back to try that! read more

The hype is real - DeNuccis is such a lovely spot! My friend and I went around 6P on a Thursday without a reservation in hopes to grab a spot at the bar- we got the last seats available! The place was packed in a fun/lively way. We started with dirty martinis with blue cheese olives. The martinis came cold in icy glasses and the olives were freshly stuffed! For our meal we shared Garlic Knots, Brussel Sprout Puglian Burrata salad, and the Lumache Arrabbiata. All three were delicious, and the Arrabbiata is very on par with Carbone's Rigatoni Vodka. Throughout the entire meal, the bartender was very attentive and friendly. Can't wait to go back soon. read more

Came in here for dinner one night. The service was a little slow at the bar while we were waiting for our table but it wasn't anything too crazy. I really enjoyed the chicken Parm, it was some of the best I've had. Pizza was OK and probably could've been without.I think when I went, there was a lot of hype so the restaurant was extremely busy and could've caused service to be a little slow. DeNucci's is the newest restaurant from Ballyhoo Hospitality. I am a huge fan of their other restaurants, but was disappointed by this one. The food was lackluster, especially for the price. The decor makes the restaurant feel kitschy and less bespoke than their other locations. While I am a huge fan of other Ballyhoo locations (including Gemini across the street), I would send friends elsewhere in the neighborhood for better for Italian fare at better prices. read more

Our group of 4 ate here last Saturday evening. We had a 7 pm reservation and were seated promptly. The atmosphere was lively, warm and cozy. Our server was friendly and attentive and clearly knowledgeable about the menu as his descriptions were given to us far faster than we could comprehend. Despite this, we made our selections and enjoyed the garlic knot appetizer and both house and caeser salads. My entree of tagliatelle bolognese was spot on and more than I could finish. We encountered a bit of confusion with the QR code check out, but in the end it was successful. Valet parking was greatly appreciated. We opted to sit at the bar since we walked in with no reservation and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of the old bar. The ambiance is very beautiful and you can't beat the location. I have been two times. The vodka pasta was good but I would skip the lemon pasta. The prices are up there for the portions. If you are going for delicious authentic Italian this would not be my first recommendation but if you're going for the ambiance in a good area with mood lighting I would maybe here. read more

DeNucci's works well enough as a friendly neighborhood restaurant, without pretensions and fitting the bill of standard Americanized Italian fare. Would we go back? Unless in a pinch, probably not. The tables are too close together: you are in someone else's party when you hear every word they say. That may work for a younger demographic; it's not us. The decor and ambience remind me of a ramped-up 1990s Bennigan's with wallpaper. Every surface is hard; it's a bit noisy. So the ambience suffers, IMHO. The array of offerings is short and lacking inspiration. The chopped Italian salad was very good and hit the spot. The red pizza? Good but not great. (Something's lacking in the red sauce. It's drab. Maybe anchovy paste would help? For salt and umami?) Again, DeNucci's "fits the bill." (Though these days no bill ever seems reasonable and $144 plus tip for what's essentially pub food is too rich for me. In fairness, we had four glasses of wine -- though wine notably absent personality.) The service was very good, though the first bottle of wine we ordered from the menu was no longer available and the available vintage too young (for Nebbiolo). Can't blame that on our waiter, though; that's on management. DeNucci's is doing what it wants to do; it may work for the demographic management seeks to reach. For us, it was okay. read more

Was not even given an apology just a flat "the kitchen is closed". What good is making areservation if you can't honor it? As an update, a VP of the restaurant group reached out a few days later and apologized for the maître d' and gave me a $200 certificate. Overall a great resolution. Restaurant does leave a note stating that pizzas will be uncut, unless requested otherwise. Unfortunately, it seems like the staff didn't see that request so I was left with an uncut pizza and no utensils for cutting. Very small inconvenience. Other than that, amazing food!
