    Chicken Parmigiana

A cozy supper clubs meets Italian comfort food... and bam! Mart Anthony's enters the scene. Classic Italian dishes served just outside downtown. We ordered the chicken parmigiana entree and my mom ordered the meat sauce lasagna. Chicken parmigiana was so-so. The chicken was a smaller sized cutlet, definitely downsized from years past. And then they fill the remainder of the giant plate with bland penne noodles and mediocre red sauce. Not worth the $25 sticker price. The lasagna was beyond salty. Did the cap fall off the salt shaker? Just wow. Almost inedible. The ambiance and service is truly my favorite. The staff is so attentive and the space makes you feel like you're in a throwback. Is it worth it? Eh.

To-go takeout (Braciole x2) for NYE from Mart Anthony's.

My husband and I usually stay in for New Year's Eve but we like to order takeout since we don't intend on spending the night cooking. We'd much rather enjoy the evening and leave the cooking to the professionals. This year we wanted Italian food and after checking out a few places, we decided on Mart Anthony's because I was looking for a specific dish. I wanted to try Braciole and most Yelp reviews pointed towards Mart Anthony's for the best braciole in town. I placed an order to go and with it we also picked up a side of meatballs. After nearly an hour ride home, I unpacked the goods and we chowed down for dinner. The food was super delicious! The meat was tender and the tomato sauce was light and flavorful for both the Braciole and Meatballs. The pasta was tender. Overall it was an outstanding meal which we enjoyed over red wine while watching the preshow to the NYE count down. Given the wonderful meal, I would love to return in the warmer months and try the food along with the service onsite. Parking is a little difficult in the area since it is within the loop. Persistence pays while on the hunt for parking but with food this good it is worth the drive.

Excellent meal! Our family came after a night downtown and the place was all decorated for Christmas. The service was excellent and the food was even better. I started with an old fashion, which was made perfectly. Some bruchetta and oysters for appetizers and everyone's main meal was excellent. I had the lobster ravioli which was delicious. There were smiles all around the table!!

Came here for dessert and drinks on a Saturday evening and had a lovely time. We sat at the bar. The bartender, a woman whose name I wish I remembered, was so pleasant and gave us great service. I had the olive oil cake, and we all enjoyed it very much. It went perfectly with a cup of decaf. Then I had a spicy mocktail margarita. I was not impressed with this unfortunately - it was too watery and didn't have much flavor. My sister said her limoncello cocktail was also watery. We wondered if the small ice cubes melted too quickly. I would recommend ordering wine or a straight up cocktail here, because the mixed drinks fell flat. My friend ordered whisky neat and was fine. The atmosphere was just nice and warm and I would return if I were in the area.

Stepped in the door to Mart Anthony's and was transported to Brooklyn or Hoboken or the north end of Boston. Either way, whatever the vibe, this place is an old school Italian spot that treats you like family. Excellent run establishment. Service is laid back but attentive and friendly. It's like your uncle is serving you dinner. Dishes are so flavorful (and affordable!) with the perfect serving size. The Theresa pizza is a must try if you're looking for the Italian and Chicago mashup. So good. Pastas were amazing, there's definitely something for everyone. Tiramisu was ok... 7/10 but I'm legit a tiramisu snob. Great wine list here as well. Thanks Mart Anthony's, we'll be back!

From the service to the atmosphere and most importantly the food, Mart Anthony's is a solid 5 stars from me! Started off dinner with some Super Tuscan wine and some bruschetta. Loved the wine as we ordered multiple glasses of it. For dinner my husband and I split a Theresa Pizza (think Italian beef sub but on pizza) and Pappardelle Bolognese. Both were delicious *chefs kiss*. We topped off the meal with a piece of tiramisu which did not disappoint. I would definitely order all of those again but will want to try different menu items too as so much looks good. This place does get busy so highly recommend a reservation on weekends! They have valet parking as well if you want to drive. Can't wait for my next visit!!

Excellent ambiance for an Italian restaurant. Love the dim lighting and holiday decorations in December. The cocktails are outstanding and they do not skimp out on the alcohol. The food was very good as well. Definitely worth a shot for your next night out Our server was juggling multiple tables and she seemed overwhelmed. But didn't take away from our experience

We had an amazing private dinner for 30 out on their patio. 5 course wine paired dinner. Stunning table decor and grilled tomahawks! Thank you so much to the staff, Mike and Marc. We will be back. I was so busy eating, only got a few pics

Chicken Parmigiana with penne pasta and the chicken Parm was very good, but the pasta sauce was salty

A nice family run and owned place from 3 generations. It's a lovely place and a nice residential area, you have street parking but parking is by permit only one and one side is free. I'm parked the food. Here was really good and the pizza was nice and thin crust and the cheese was very fresh. We had the Marty's pizza and it had basil and mozzarella and cherry tomatoes and it was done really perfectly and the sauce was very good and not salty and lots of garlic that was fresh. The chicken Parmesan was very good and the meat was juicy and tender, and it was breaded just right but the penne pasta on the side was very salty, but lots of really good tomatoes in the sauce. The penne pasta was done perfectly, but it was just a sauce that was very salty. The white fish with Vesuvio was very good and it was very tender and not overcooked and had a lot of rosemary in it. I wasn't a fan of the Vesuvio and wished the side was pasta instead. And the tables are very nice, but the only problem was I kept getting paper cuts from the paper that they put on top of the cloth tablecloth. My suggestion would be use a black tablecloth that you wash because it's good for the environment and you don't have to waste paper and the customers don't have to get paper cuts. You would also save money from not buying the paper. Better yet just have an easy table top to clean off w no tablecloth and you don't have to have any laundering service or paper to buy in rolls. The mocktail was just like a soda with no sugar and nothing inside (Amalfi Breeze) for $14 so I would never get that again because I'd rather get a ginger ale. They have nice options for seating with outdoor and garden that has air conditioning w a retractable roof, and inside seating as well with a bar. The only thing with the garden seating was that the lighting was very dark and the pink neon lights were distracting and hurt my eyes.

    Chicken Parmigiana

The chicken parm was a generous size with a nice portion of mostaccioli and great flavors. The red sauce was a nice compliment to the cheesy overlay on the chicken. I would get it again. The wedge salad was a good starter to split between two. They bring bread and olive oil to the table which is a plus. Super great family owned vibe inside, felt homey and authentic. I'll be back!

My friends and I were last-minute looking for a restaurant on the weekend in Chicago and found this place. Located in a somewhat quiet part of town for me, the atmosphere is adorable and the service friendly. We had a couple of appetizers in the bruschetta and grilled calamari which were good, but not excellent. I ordered the black linguine as my main dish while my friends all ordered different entrees. The pasta was scrumptious and the seafood pieces were fat, delicious, and cooked perfectly. We topped off our meal with a great tiramisu. Overall, Mart Anthony's (great name) serves delicious food with generous portions.

Would you consider this a fancy place with a dress code?

Hi Lidia, there is no dress code. You will see many people dressing casual, but also business casual or formal. I would consider us an upscale, neighborhood Italian spot.

Is the patio going to remain open in the colder weather? Is there a tent or heaters? Still hesitant to eat inside due to COVID, so curious if there is a way to get ventilation of outdoor dining yet be protected from the elements

$400+ dinner for two, including drinks. Nothing special,…read morelike we hoped. Pretty much standard steakhouse fare ... maybe a little less tasty than some of the other top-ranked steakhouses I've been to. I'd put it on par with Smith & Wollensky or Capital Grille, which is to say better than average and overpriced. To start off, the wicked stepsister hosts, who look about 20 years old, at the front seem to take joy in making you wait, even if you have a reservation and laugh in your face when you ask to sit in a certain area. There is nothing cool about dealing with a 20 year old on a power trip when paying almost half a grand for dinner for two. The real hero of this establishment should be their lighting designer ... I would venture to say that the dimly-lit yet perfect feeling vibe of the restaurant is what sets it apart. If not for the design of the restaurant, it would be just another steakhouse. The waiters are as pretentious as the hostesses. You know you you walk into a Restoration Hardware store and someone making minimum wage gives you, 'mansion attitude'? That's everyone we encountered at Bacette's ... insufferable snobs. We started out with cocktails, which were well made. Nowhere were the prices but expect a cocktail to set you back $25. The steaks are around $80 - $120. We both had the bone-in filet mignon, which was $89 at the time of the review. I guess it's supposedly a rare cut of meat ... although when I asked our butcher about it being rare, he chuckled and said, 'whatever sells steaks, I guess'. The filet was good ... again, nothing amazing ... on par with a chain like Capital Grille. I ordered mine medium rare and it came medium and a bit under seasoned. Each steak comes with a side of Bearnaise sauce, which honestly was the best part of the meal. Rarely would I consider ruining a $89 steak by dipping it in sauce ... but it kind of needed the extra kick. We got asparagus and the truffle Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was better than the steak, however, we were expecting the normal overflowing sides, which are usually too much for two people to finish. The Mac and cheese was pretty small and we felt like it was more like a single side ... especially given that the filet (minus the bone) was probably around 8 ounces. Asparagus was just your average asparagus. We had the chocolate pie and ice cream for dessert. The chocolate cake was almost like an entire slice of cake frosting with a scoop of dense whipped cream on top. Way too sweet and we barely ate half amongst the both of us. The ice cream was nothing special. We didn't realize you could not have a reservation and sit at the bar. Honestly, we were placed downstairs at a table ... and felt like we were sitting in a basement. It was not as nice as the upper restaurant and they refused to move us when we asked them if we could sit upstairs in the better part. She gleefully said it would be a two hour wait to change tables. If we knew we could have just snagged an empty bar seat upstairs, we'd have done that because it's better than the basement. Although, we saw some near arguments as people rushed in to get a bar stool in front of people who were waiting a long time. And, it's a little awkward to eat with vultures standing behind you waiting to jump into your seat, I'd imagine. So maybe make sure that you request to be seated upstairs and see if the mean girls hostess will accommodate the request. Overall, Chicago has so many good steakhouses, the fact that this one ranked so highly mystifies me. I've been to several better than this which were not even ranked. The atmosphere is cool ... everything else is average ... except for the attitudes which are below average.

Very vibrant and really friendly people all around. Piano bar vibes with the live playing at your request. Bartenders are attentive and try to get to everyone quickly. Just to give you a sense of how friendly this place is, I accidentally knocked over my glass of wine while reaching for the bill. Caught it though...phew. But not before I spilled it all over the back of the woman sitting next to me, the man to the right of me, and of course all over myself! Within two seconds, a waitress came over with napkins to help clean up the mess, the guy sitting next to me got on the floor and wiped it all up, and the woman whom I spilled the drink all over was like "Don't even worry about! At least you caught the wine glass!" Wow! I was stunned at how cool everyone was, and it set the tone for the evening. We finally got our table and split the Gipson's ribeye, lobster, sweet potato and brussel sprouts. Seriously one of the best steakhouse meals I've ever had. The kimchi pork dumplings were an absolute flavor bomb and that parmesan broth gave the dumplings a little extra kick that took it to the next level. We ordered a bunch stuff to try: * Raw oysters - good, nothing to rave about * Argentinian shrimp - the shrimp were small and looked kinda depressing, flavor was decent though * Bossam - this was probably the lowlight for me, traditional bossam is pork belly, it is just not the same without the fat, pork collar does not cut it! * Short rib skewer- flavorful, cooked just right, delicious * Garlic chive pancake - this was my favorite, full of scallions, nice crunch on the sides and soft in the middle * Chilled soda noodle and kimchi - not traditional cold noodles, but it was tasty * Crudo - it was a TINY piece, certainly not worth the price even though it tasted fine, this was not a happy menu item * Basque cheesecake - wanted the Perilla sundae but was sold out, so settled for the cheesecake, it was just fine Staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was a nice experience overall. For happy hour, I would come back!
