We came here for dinner with friends over the weekend and really enjoyed it! The interior is decorated nicely and feels so cozy and our service was great throughout. We ordered the chopped salad, arancini, and garlic bread to start. The chopped salad and garlic bread were both incredible but the arancini was just okay in comparison. For pastas, we ended up ordering the pesto, vodka pasta, and lemon pasta. The lemon pasta was okay, it felt like it missing an element and the vodka pasta was good but needed more the sauce. The star of the show was the pesto pasta but they accidentally gave us another pasta but eventually replaced it with the pesto we initially ordered. Overall we enjoyed our time here and plan to come back for the tavern pizza that's only available on Mondays!
Screaming crying throwing up. This place is AMAZING. I've heard great things before trying out DeNucci's so I already had high hopes, and they still delivered. From the ambiance to the service to the food, eveything was a 10/10. We had the chicken piccata, vodka pasta, and bruschetta. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and quality. The portions were great - not small at all and not huge. With these 3 dishes split amongst 2 people, we were full after dinner. I recommend this place for birthdays too - they had Happy Birthday printed on the menu with the birthday boy's name. We also got mini glasses of wine and a birthday scoop of delicious pistachio ice cream with a candle at the end. So sweet!!! Our server was attentive and kind as well. Highlyyyyyy recommend this place!
Really amazing first time at DeNuccis! Made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and they were still pretty booked for a Friday night. Great ambiance, good date night spot. Garlic knots: 4/5 Vodka pasta: 4.3/5 Bolognese: 4.5/5 Tiramisu: 5/5 (MUST TRY, probably the best I've ever had) Attentive, kind server! Only complaint is they try to clear your plates too fast here! Like yes, there are only two bites left, but I will be finishing it!
I liked this place as soon as I walked in! The ambience is great! We sat at the bar and had lovely service and our server was so kind to help answer a few questions from us first timers. We settled on a wine we wanted to enjoy (and did), loved the little gem Caesar salad, and ate every bit of our pasta. I will say, I want to go back and try more pastas. The ones that felt familiar to us have a twist and I'm not sure in a way that I loved. They're well made and I'm sure are other people's favorite dishes. But you know when you go somewhere and you end up finding something you love but would never normally order? I think that's the case for me here. I'm excited to come back and explore more of their offerings...including dessert.
In searching for a restaurant to go to prior to seeing a play at Steppenwolf, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Denucci's. Located in the space that was formally Four Farthings, this cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant was such a great find and we were lucky enough to find parking in this busy Lincoln Park neighborhood. The interior of Denucci's consists of tables, cozy booths, and a beautiful bar. I was obviously late to the game in finding this restaurant because it was bustling with what looked like locals with a mixture of young and old patrons. We had incredible service between the waiter and the supplementary wait staff. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. One of which was he had worked at many restaurants, but had never been at one like Denucci's where they used a piccata sauce on the Bronzino. Two people in our party had it and said it was delightful. With the appetizers, the bruschetta had a nice twist with pesto spread as well as the standard bruschetta topping. My friend got the house salad that was meant for one, but definitely could've served two. All the food was timed perfectly, giving us plenty of time to enjoy our food and get out in time to attend our play. For our main course, I shared eggplant Parmesan, and a special of the day: Robiola Agnolotti al Tartufo a stuffed pasta with truffle butter, parmigiano reggiano and autumn black truffle. I really loved the eggplant which is my go to it most Italian restaurants and the pasta truffle was absolutely delicious especially if you're a truffle fan. We ended with delicious desserts and we thought the price of the gelato was very reasonable. I had affogato and our friends absolutely adored the amaretto tiramisu. I would say that yes the prices were expensive, but probably no more expensive than other restaurants these days and it was just a delightful meal in every way. Great atmosphere, excellent food service, neighborhood appeal and ambience. Definitely a place I'll return to.
It's giving the Jon and Vinny's of Chicago vibe wise with better portion sizes and about similar prices. I still have never tried pizza at either place though. Anyways, I did like it and would go back and try more if I had to eat out at an Italian place since I avoid them. All of the food was genuinely solid though and I have no complaints. I personally really liked my kale salad with chicken and their homemade gelatos are served in frozen cups, which is not pictured, but nice!
Exploring Chicago on a culinary food weekend. DeNucci's is an neighborhood Italian dining destination, reservations are a must. The place is hopping with a great wait staff and scrumptious entrees passing by our table. We ordered the garlic knots, a pepperoni pizza appetizer, spicy crab campanelle and tagliatelle bolognese. The vibe here is high energy and very lively. The garlic knots were inhaled with a light, buttery, garlickly and delicious gravy. Our pepperoni pizza was piping hot, savory and quickly consumed. The crab pasta was light, flavorful and a delicious combination. The bolognese was stacked with meat, great homemade pasta and a good flavor. Denucci's was a nice, high energy and relaxing experience. The food was good, service was spot-on and packed with locals, all enjoying a fine meal. For a nice evening out, lively environment and good food, get over to DeNucci's.
Service was wonderful, nice clean restaurant. We had appetizers and the octopus (grilled) was outstanding, garlic knots we delicious, artichokes were also a must order (tender) and arancini was delightful. My husband did order the special that night which was tonnarelli all'amatriciana which was very salty and we left 3/4 of it. Over all it was a lovely restaurant and evening. Yes I would return.
I feel like it's been a challenge to find Italian restaurants open for lunch on the weekends, so I was happy to realize that Denucci's was. I ordered the Spaghetti Limone ($21). It was good. My husband had the Mushroom White Pizza ($28). They also charge a 3% surcharge. Solid Italian restaurant I would return to.
First restaurant I've been to in Chicago and it didn't disappoint. Our server, Nick, was so kind, gave great recommendations, and was attentive to us. We started with the caesar salad and garlic rolls, which were great. Split the bolognese tagliatelle and the frutti di mare (their Friday special). Some of the best pasta I've ever had!! The seafood pasta was so perfect, the sauce was velvety, perfectly salted and had the right amount of acid. The scallops were so buttery and cooked perfectly. The desserts were great too, my especially the pistachio blondie sundae. Ambience, music, and small details of the restaurant were amazing . Would honestly eat here every night of our trip.
Stopped into DeNuccis after a long walk around the Lincoln Park area to get a late lunch. It was a beautiful day so we took a seat on their patio, which was super cute. We started off with their spritz pitcher, which was delicious. Then opted for a Caesar salad before diving into our pastas, which was a fresh way to start our meal. We tried the Lumache Arrabbiata, their take on a Spicy vodka pasta. I really enjoyed this and it is quite a large portion. We also got the spaghetti limone, tastes almost like buttered noodles with lemon - yum! Everything was delicious. Paired with great service, we would definitely return again.
DeNuccis may be the best Italian Restaurant in Chicago. Not only is the service great, but their food hits the mark every single time. We tried their Lobster Angolotti this time, and it was so delicious! The lobster cream sauce is to die for, and the pasta was a perfect al dente. They don't skimp on the lobster meat. I also loved their Amaretto Tiramisu. It was creamy, soft, and balanced. Overall, highly recommend DeNuccis and will definitely be coming back every Chicago visit.

Came here craving a good cheese pizza and was not disappointed. We enjoyed our pie sitting in their beautiful outdoor seating area which is equipped with heating lamps for chiller days. If you are looking for a delicious pizza DeNuccis is definitely worth trying. read more

Pasta was really good. My dish was a little spicy and I was not prepared for that but still good. The ambiance was amazing, the bar was spacious, and even had outlets and purse hooks under the bar! read more

This is a place I'll be craving. Came here with friends and had a feast. grilled calamari - was going to do fried but server recommended the grilled. Damn. It was great. Garlic knotts were stellar Chicken Parm - was craving this since I saw it on the menu. I added a side of spaghetti cause yolo. There's two decent sized chicken breasts...it's big enough to share. I loved it. spaghetti cacio e pepe was fantastic. I stole a few bites. Really good. Service was excellent. We had a bottle of Pinot that was perfect for the dinner. We were in from Houston for the weekend, and didn't really know where we were going to eat on a Sunday night. We were already in the Lincoln Park area, so our daughter and friends suggested DeNuccis. We didn't have reservations, but maitre'd was super nice and they were able to seat our group of 6 outside. A little chilly, but we were es spring the Texas heat, so we were good with it. Server was great and made great wine recommendations since we aren't as familiar with Italian wines. Food was on point, and we all had to try each other's entrees. Soooo good! Highly recommend if you're in the area. We can't wait to come back and try a different dish because we know it'll be awesome! read more

I would actually rate this spot at 4.5. We had a group of 6 for a birthday celebration. It was a bit difficult to get a reservation, so we were surprised it wasn't busy when we got there on a late Sunday afternoon. They print the name of the person celebrating on your menus, which is a nice touch. They also comped his dessert. The space is attractive and lively and we loved the booth for six, which allowed for good conversation and sharing. Drinks were ordered, Frozen Negroni was the favorite 5/5, Italian Lemonade, Aperol Spritz and Sbagliato were all enjoyed as well. We ordered a lot of food. We all like to eat so we shared and sampled. Garlic Knots, Gem Caesar, Arancini and Margherita pizza all 5/5. The appetizer round was the stand out IMO. No flaws for anyone, I especially enjoyed the Arancini. The next round was the Lumache, Cavatelli alla Joe, Chicken Cutlet Parmesan and sides of meatballs and sausage. The Lumache was the favorite, al dente and the sauce had the proper kick and tasty smooth sauce. Cavatelli was good, but I have had better. They were smaller than I am accustomed to and were a little too firm. They did not taste homemade to me. The meats were a mixed bag. Much of the group liked the meatballs, but I thought the basil was overpowering. I prefer Italian parsley in mine. The braciola meat was nice and tender, but the stuffing was just seasoned breadcrumbs, which tasted a bit mealy. The Chicken parm was good, still had some crisp, but I thought it could have used more seasoning. The sausage for me was the best of the meats. The dessert round was 2 latte, 1 espresso, Nutella/Banana Cannoli, various gelato and the Pistachio Blondie. All good, Pistachio Blondie was 5/5. Our server was outstanding, friendly but not intrusive and answered questions thoughtfully. I would 100% go back for the drinks, the pizza and the apps. There were so many more appetizers to try, that would be my focus. read more

DeNucci's is a lot of razzle-dazzle and has a great buzz. The atmosphere is sleek and contemporary. The place is packed! Reservations are not super easy to obtain (plan your visit in advance). But, you can walk in and sit at the bar (get there early before the dinner rush! ~5:45pm). Started with garlic knots- yum. Fluffy, buttery, garlicky. My only complaint? Portion size. There were 4. I wanted more! :) Had the kale salad. Perfectly balanced, great mix of textures, and pecorino. We ate every last bit of it. Spaghetti limone (imported pasta) and tagliatelle bolognese (fresh handmade pasta) were our entrees. The spaghetti limone was kinda basic but tasty and had a velvety texture. The bolognese was delicious. The dessert menu had creative spins on traditional Italian desserts, but I didn't order any. I'd be interested in returning if a friend wanted to try it. read more
Went for restaurant week and every dish was delicious! The restaurant was a little tight and when it was full it was a little hard to hold a conversation, but that may be a result of some louder people around us and not the restaurant itself. either way the drink was delicious and strong, and all of the food overshadowed the restaurant layout. read more

A favorite casual Italian staple for locals in Lincoln Park- Chicago Ambiance: Cozy Italian Bistro - lots of booths and Italian accents. Attire: casual Crowd: families, couples, groups of friends Age: all Food 8/10 Service: 10/10 Wine by glass: 4/10 Zach was the most impressive server we've had in our many visits to DeNucci. He was friendly and attentive. I'm not sure why but ALL his tables had birthdays - including ours! He made everyone feel special. Great job!! The food here is not Michelin star but it is delicious! If you like Italian food you'll enjoy everything on this menu. Artichokes can't be missed. Kale salad has a terrific pop of citrus. We came on Monday night and ordered the eggplant Parmesan special. Pairing that with the Lumache Arrabiatta was genius!! Yes we added meatballs because- why not? Fantastic visit as always! read more

First time trying DeNuccis and it did not disappoint! We got the garlic knots, lobster ravioli, Cavatelli Ragu alla Joe, and pistachios gelato. The lobster ravioli was so creamy and delicious with an ample amount of lobster filling. The garlic knots were also to die for. The gelato was really creamy but also very good. We sat outdoors and service was very friendly and fast. I did get a chance to see the indoors and it is very beautiful and elegant. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Wow...the best chicken parm I've ever had, and I'm a connoisseur. Crispy, cheesy, aromatic, herbal, truly a work of culinary art. We got the tagliatelle bolognese to go with it (splitsies style). Loved this place so much had to write a review like right now! Booked a reservation for 5 tonight (Saturday) to celebrate my birthday. Service (6/5): genuinely excellent service - the host texted me regarding my reservation to ask for the birthday persons name & "happy birthday kacie" was stamped on all the menus. It was so thoughtful and the hostess & our server made sure to wish me a happy birthday. Not a necessity but it felt very genuine and thoughtful. Unfortunately I don't remember our servers name but he was so knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and so so kind. We also brought a birthday cake that they lit up for us and provided plates to share. On our way out, another server offered us a bag to carry our cake box and leftovers in. Overall, I'd come back for service alone. Food (5/5): I got the spiked Italian lemonade and that's a great drink for girlies who like sweet drinks that don't taste too strong. HIGHLY recommend the fried calamari: perfectly crispy, also comes with slices of pepper and topped with lemon slices & paired with a perfectly acidic marinara sauce. Garlic Knots: very garlicky, delicious, but a little dense for my taste & paired with the same marinara sauce. It usually comes with 4 but our server had the kitchen add 1 more for us as we were a table of 5 which I felt was so generous. Pizza: you can get half and half! Somewhat thin dough and a crispy crust - I enjoyed the sausage & onion side more. Sausage was flavorful but there definitely needed to be more onion. Not the best pizza I've had but absolutely hit the spot. Arrabiata: vodka pastas cousin but tangier. A bit too tangy for my taste but add a little crushed pepper and it's nearly perfect. Pasta is perfectly cooked, there was just enough sauce to coat the pasta, and the portion is big! Ragu Pasta: had no idea what to expect with this but it was a much beefier & more savory spaghetti. The meatball was so flavorful and the pasta shape was new, fun, and held the sauce very well. Ambiance (4/5): it was a little cramped in there but I loved how warm and cozy the space was. Nice service, pretty restaurant, food is hit or miss. Came here with a large party and our service was great. Parking is tough but there is valet. We split lots of items but a few stand outs - the fried calamari was good, garlic knots were perfect. The lobster ravioli was pretty bad. It was... sour? Way too much lemon and lobster was a bit rubbery. The cacio e Pepe was good. The cannoli was disappointing, the filling was too soft/fluffy, not thick enough. The worst offense was the pistachio ice cream which was totally tasteless. Honestly they should throw it away and take it off the menu, that shouldn't be served to people. Overall, I think there is room for improvement but I'm sure there's better Italian spots in Chicago than this. read more

One of the best vodka pastas in Chicago! Was super excited to try the half and half pizza - spicy pepperoni and pesto-based. SO GOOD! Brought us right back to Italy. Can't go wrong with meatballs and garlic knots as apps. read more
I did takeout from here on what seemed like a busy Friday night. The place seems small, with a lot of people outside either waiting for a table or waiting for their pickup order. They have a takeout pickup window outside so you don't have to enter the building. Pretty organized set up, and was able to pick up my order at the promised time with no issues. We ordered their Bruschetta Pomodoro, Margherita pizza and Tagliatelle Bolognese. All three dishes tasted phenomenal. The Bruschetta was topped with tomato tartare and basil pesto. This is the first time that I've had pesto on bruschetta and it definitely a game changer. This is a must order every time. I can only imagine how this would taste fresh out of the kitchen. What a perfect way to start your dinner. The Margherita pizza was just as delicious. It came topped with basil and oven dried cherry tomatoes. This is also a first on a Margherita pizza for me. The tomatoes added some extra acidity that I don't typically get in a Margherita pizza. The crust was perfect and it had just the right amount of cheese. I really do appreciate Denuccis offering classic dishes with their own twist. The taglliatelle was cooked al dente and served with a very flavorful bolognese sauce. Overall I was very impressed with our dinner from Denuccis. I kept seeing this place pop up but wasn't in the mood to try another Italian restaurant. Nestled on Dickens Ave, this Italian-American restaurant nails that perfect balance of cozy, classy, and crave-worthy--from the charming ambiance to the comforting food that keeps us coming back. We grabbed a seat at the bar for dinner and were met with fantastic service and an energy that feels both relaxed and refined--exactly what you want on a Friday night. Let's talk food: Mozzarella Sticks - These are not your average mozzarella sticks. Perfectly crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, and served piping hot with marinara sauce that's just the right amount of tangy. They're a must-order. Kale Salad - A refreshing and flavorful start to the meal. With lacinato kale, Brussels sprouts, golden raisins, watermelon radish, pecorino romano, chopped almonds, and a citrus vinaigrette--it was bright, balanced, and had great texture in every bite. Generous portions of fresh seafood tossed in a rich tomato sauce with al dente spaghetti--it's everything you'd want from a seafood pasta dish. Comforting and elegant at the same time. To top it off, the space itself is warm and welcoming with a sleek marble bar, great lighting, and a buzzy neighborhood vibe. It's the kind of place you can dress up for or roll into casually and still feel right at home. Final Verdict: DeNucci's delivers across the board--food, service, and atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for a big bowl of pasta, a comforting appetizer, or just a cozy corner to share a bottle of wine, it's one of the best spots in Lincoln Park to do it. We got a reservation for DeNuccis on a Friday night and had an excellent experience. We started with the garlic knots for the table. It comes with 4 doughy knots that melt in your mouth. We also got the spicy pepperoni pizza which was delicious and a very good size. You could easily share one pizza among 3 people. We also got the spicy crab campanelle, which was the start of the show. A super tasty pasta with a ton of flavor. DeNuccis has a great energy and the staff is excellent. Loved this place! Server Mike was so attentive and nice, and the food was delicious. The Bolognese and garlic knots were yummy. The pistachio blondie for dessert was the best. Definitely will be back. Valet was a nice perk too only $12 at dinner. read more
Cute place! Good vibes. The wait staff was very attentive. For apps, we got the garlic knots and arancini. The garlic knots were very buttery, but classic and soft and yummy. They came with 4. The arancini had meat in it which I was not expecting. They were pretty good, but not super flavorful and the sauce was also just ok. They normally come with 3, but since we had four people they added one additional one for us. For mains, the lobster ravioli was a little disappointing. The sauce wasn't very creamy or flavorful and the lobster on top was kind of dry. The pappardelle genovese, however, was extremely good. The meat was tender and the noodles tasted homemade. read more
Came in on a Wednesday night with a friend and it was packed! Was able to snag a seat at the bar and service was fairly quick. The ambiance was so cozy - nice for a fall evening. Started with a Phony Negroni, which was pretty sweet but I enjoyed it! Also got the Garlic Knots to share. I thought they were pretty average but my friend really liked them. For the mains, got the spaghetti limón and tonnarelli with sun gold pomodoro. The sun gold pomodoro was so yummy, it was like the perfect balance of home made and restaurant flavor.
