Beer was good, but I've had a lot of DBC around town. Some good new drafts that I haven't seen, they were decent. After coming from the mexican beer brewery next door there is a big difference I felt in personality of DBC. It was a bit stuck-upish. Not as friendly, could have been a rough day for them I guess. My fav part though was watching a drunk lady ask if they were hiring. Lol....yes lady I bet they want to hire someone that doesn't know their limit and can barely hold themselves up. =) haha. Crazy that Denver Beer Co is celebrating their 10 year anniversary!! I still remember sitting on their patio back in 2011 drinking beers and eating the Cubano Quesadilla from my favorite food truck stand! (Wish they didn't close down, that Cubano Quesadilla was EVERYTHING) Anyways recently stopped in for a different food truck (Pho King Rapadios) and man I'm pumped about all the renovations they've done. Their patio got a major upgrade with permanent awnings and misters which was pretty awesome! Shade and misters really made it a cool and pleasant experience during these hot denver summer days! Their beers Art of course lovely. They had some staples on like Princess Yum Yum, incredible petal etc but also some rotating stuff: we really enjoyed the dolla dolla pale, love this city Pilsner, partly cloudy session hazy, and Colorado gold I think it was called amber lager. Ambience is casual and spacious. The music and the talking was a bit loud for me to stay there for an extended period of time and just hang out. Crowd mostly in the 20-30's, I think. Chill environment. No meat market vibe. We tried the flight of 5 beers. Our fav was simco smash by far but they were all pretty good. Dog friendly, must be kept on leash so no food is served here but the taco truck outside was pretty good. We also brought in a little outside food from the store. Please just clean up after yourself! I like this place! It is one of few places that is dog-friendly and the outdoor area has a lot of space to sit as long as you are okay with communal tables. I join the Tuesday run club semi-regularly and there is always a good turnout for runners as well as normal patrons. Beer is good. I like the juicy freak, princess yum yum, and they had this awesome white chocolate blonde for a bit, but didn't have it the last time I visited (10/08/19). :( Love sitting outside here! There is always tons of people stopping after work, for fun, or for the Tuesday run club. DBC is always hoppin'! read more

I'm really only a sour beer fan so I tried their new hard seltzer since they didn't really have any sour beer options at the time. It was good but not any better than White Claw or some of the other hard seltzer brands. They have a new sour coming out his month, Berry Proud, and I'm really looking forward to trying it! read more

DBC is certainly up there when it comes to fun breweries to hang out at in the mile high. The first time I came here, I noticed that there was a high ratio of dogs to people and I can't complain about that at all. Although I can't say I love their beer, I am a big fan of their Graham Cracker Porter (they do variants of this around the holidays, chocolate coconut anyone?) and Sun Drenched Exploratory Ale (IPA/Wheat hybrid). I've also tried their Summit Sunrise, Simcoe Smash, and Drama Queen among others. No food is served here but a food truck can usually be found along with several other restaurants located on Platte St. I definitely recommend this brewery for big groups or for out-of-town visitors as they have an extensive list and can get pretty packed. I went there for work get together with co-workers. We had to wait for a table which wasn't a big deal. We were sitting around the fire pit with the big rocking chairs. Once one table became available, my party moved over there. Sadly, there wasn't enough seating at one table, so I decided to drag one of the rocking chairs over to sit in. I (50ish white female) was promptly told by an employee that they didn't allow the rocking chairs to be moved as they prohibited traffic flow for staff. I complied and moved the chair back. Within 15 minutes, 2 white males moved their rocking chairs to THEIR desired placement with no reprisals. Hmmmmm.... What's wrong with this scenario???? read more

Killer patio area in the front. Large garage door that make it a nice open air spot to drink in. Cool industrial look with high tables and some communal tables to chill at. Rotating list of craft beers on tap. Knowledgeable bartenders that will talk up the beers and let you try a few samples. Graham Cracker Porter. Just ridiculously awesome beer at $5 a pint! Solid brewery a wee bit off of downtown Denver. Ran over here right before last call on a Sunday night and the girls working there were still very attentive to us and didn't make us feel rushed or anything. They even struck a conversation with us which was nice because, although they had a long day and were probably eager to go home, they were still on their A-game until the end. I loved their logo glasses as well so I bought one of them as a commemorative. I got their Incredible Pedal IPA which is a hoppy American IPA and apparently, one of their best sellers. It didn't blow me away but it was a solid, refreshing brew to cap off a long day of venturing the city. My buddy got the Platte Pilsner which is a light, refreshing German Pilsner and it was pretty good as well, but it was a pilsner... so nothing out of the ordinary. I was going to get their Graham Cracker Porter which I heard great things about but a porter seemed a bit heavy after already grabbing a good amount of drinks throughout the day. This place is very spacious and I love that they are located right by a trail that runs along the river. If I lived here, I would certainly come here to earn my beer after jogging a few times up and down that scenic river trail! read more

Hipster Hell! I love a great brewery and even a crowd of fun hipsters but this place is getting worse upon each visit. Went for a brew on a Friday evening, big mistake. If you like crowds of big egos and their over sized and/or poorly behaved dogs with a side of OK beer, go here. It was way too crowded and those poor animals should not have been forced to be there. Upon arrival, a dog tied to the fence near the entrance went all bonkers on a hipster skating up too the door. Freaked him out! Then, after squirming up to the bar we had to lean over a big dog to get beers. The owners who had these dogs should be punished for abuse. If it was a nice quiet place I could see dog's chillin and even mingling with each other. But no, these poor animals were neglected and thrown into a situation with people who are so oblivious and egotistical that their nastiness soured the experience and therefore the beer. I could list a dozen other breweries in Denver that have superior beer and a much better ambiance. Such a bummer as this place is designed so well. I guess once those hipsters get wind of a trend they have to beat it to death. I predict in a decade or so this place will be a cool place to chill, but I'm steering clear as it is upsetting in a variety of ways each time. read more

One of many awesome breweries you will find in Denver. They have a large taproom with several of their Delicious beers they make and that are offered on tap for you to enjoy. They also have several picnic tables outside to enjoy the beer and the weather. They don't have any food to offer. My favorite beers are the cocoa graham cracker porter and the original graham cracker porter. They also offer beer to go where they fill growlers that you bring or you can purchase there. They don't have a food menu but they offer hot pretzels with mustard. You can also get a beer flight where you get small glasses of several beers of your choosing. The location is great, and I suppose if you've been wandering around LoDo all afternoon, trickled around Confluence Park, promenaded to Platte River Drive and saw this place you might think to yourself, "What a grand cap to this fabulous evening!" and you would sit on the patio, drink a beer or two, maybe enjoy some food from the food truck perpetually out front and think to yourself, "Now this is where it's at!" And you probably did have a really good time! And I had a decent time, too. But their beer is only that: decent. It's not fantastic by any stretch, and while it's miles better than a stone cold Bud Light, it's no Great Divide or Renegade. So, for the LOCATION, this place is a 5 star joint. Their beer ranks about a 2 in my book. There are places that are far better in town, even within walking distance, of this place. Fair warning. read more

I liked this place! As an out-of-towner, I find it cool that dogs can come inside the bar and hang out with their owners. Denver is so cool that way. We grabbed a picnic table on the outside, and ordered a couple rounds of locally-brewed IPA's. I love IPA's and rarely am I disappointed. These were very good. The conversation flowed. I love places that lend themselves to good conversation. To me, that's what it's all about. Having a good time with the ones you're with. Heard so much about this place and it definitely lived up to the hype. Lemme start with the food truck parked outside, well they really need their own review because the wings were awesome!! Ever tried large drumsticks hot while you are a few brews in?.. let me tell you, if you haven't tried em, you should...soon! As far as the princess yum yum, the ladies couldnt get enough of that strawberry/ raspberry brew. I had something that ended with "freak" in it and I can't complain either. I was supposed to meet an old friend from college for lunch and didn't realize the restaurant she told me had 2 locations so I told her to hang tight while I stop in this gem. This awesome open concept brewery in the heart of downtown was great! They had an amazing selection of beers and I was able to try their Moana beer which was delicious. Just a fantastic little tasting room between Highlands and LoDo! So, directed by the scribe for the 12 Drinking Days of Christmas, we descended upon Denver Beer Company on a cold Thursday evening. It was pretty packed, but after a short wait we were able to claim a couple of tables. We kicked off the evening with some samplers. I have to say, I do not ever order cider, but the cider here is fabulous. This place may have made me a convert. The coffee stout was also pretty fantastic. But, my fav was definitely the Hefewerizen. I see from other reviews here that they change out the taps pretty often here, so I'm looking forward to coming back to try some more of their beers. The food truck of the night was pizza. I was really glad none of the gluten-free people came out, because they would have been SOL between pizza and beer, ha ha. They did not have a gluten-free beer selection. Maybe something to consider in the future, if for no other reason that to prevent my ears from being assailed by the whining of the celiac's. This place is doggy friendly, so a couple folks had brought their pooches in. They were even helpful in accommodating our smoker friends by turning on the heat lamps on the deserted patio. So, this is def on my fav list. I will be back, often. read more

I've been coming to Denver Beer Co. pretty much since they opened. It used to be my go-to place for good beer when I was downtown. If you're just talking about ambiance, location, and people watching, this place is one of the best. It's really a fun place to visit. But, the beer... First thing, PUT THE IBUs ON THE BEER BOARD!!! They've had some great beers like Maya Nut Brown, Smoked Lager, Scotch on Scotch, Smoked & Soaked, etc. And one of their flagship beers, Incredible Pedal is pretty good too. But for the most part, in my opinion, the beers in the last year or so have changed and just aren't as good as the used to be. It's entirely possible that I've just hit them at bad times, but it seems like there are a lot of unbalanced beers with too much hop bitterness, not enough hop aroma, and not enough malt to back up the hops. And their other flagship, Graham Cracker Porter, tastes nothing like I would imagine a Graham Cracker Porter should taste. I'm imagining a creamy, sweet, cinnamon beer. It's a porter, and that's about it. Service is typically good despite the ever-present crowds. It's tough to get up to the bar, but the bartenders are usually looking for whoever needs to order. The last time I was there (2/19/14), the bartender was noticeably annoyed with anyone that didn't know exactly what they wanted, but maybe she was having a bad night... I really hate ripping on DBC because I've had a lot of good times and good beers there, they just haven't been as good as they used to be. What a fun, beer garden-esque brewery. I loved the long wooden tables... and the way they made me feel like I'd been transported to Munich. After brunch at the Ale House at Amato's, we walked across the highway to the Denver Beer Co. What a great place. Though the Denver sun can be a little harsh, we ordered our samplers (5 samples for $5) and headed outside to sit at the long tables. I tried a lightish beer with the flavor of pumpkin, called the "Ichabod's Pumpkin Rye". It was really a perfect beer for this time of year. Crisp with an after taste of pumpkin pie. Delicious. Highly recommended. They had a chili beer, which really smelled and tasted of chili's... not a favorite amongst my group, though good if you like that kind of thing. We had a really nice afternoon sampling a few of the days brews, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. This new craft brewery is a winner in my book. Happy Drinking read more

In the middle of the Coronavirus madness, they offered a wealth of outdoor and indoor/outdoor (big windows and doors open) space and friendly vibes along with great brews. I really like this place. I am really trying to love this place. I wish there was a "half" option for the stars, as I feel that three does not do it justice, yet four is a bit generous at this point. Very cool location, easy foot/bike access from either lodo or the Highlands. The tables out front are great for conversation in any of our 300 days of sunshine; yesterday's visit had them nearly full, even though it is the end of December. I like the re-purposed materials used in the bar and inside seating area, and the rotation of artists make each trip visually fresh. The beer. This trip, 10 different varieties on tap, and I could not find a single one that was on tap the last time I visited six weeks ago. Some people enjoy variety, but I feel there should be a line of "flagship" beers that are done well, that a person can depend on as go-to brews each visit. For example, the DBC promotes its Bier Garden, so why not have a nice helles, hefe, and dunkle - solid, traditional Bavarian styles - to complement this attraction? The Five for $5 sampler is a good value. Sampled: Hopefenweiss, a solid hefe with a hop boost. I wished it had a bit more banana/clove to better balance the hops, but this was a nice, drinkable brew. Prince Alber's ESB: Great session beer, true to style as I remember it, not knock your socks off bold, but not trying to be. Tis the Saison: My favorite of the lot. True to the style, with the addition of very complementary holiday spices that were not overdone. Growler-worthy! William Wallace Scotch Ale: I could not finish this one (nor could my friend who ordered a sample as well), not even as a small sampler. It had a very strong band-aid taste that overwhelmed what should be a sweet, malty, lightly roasted character. Typically the yeast strain used in these ales is sensitive to temperature, and if fermented a bit hot can create this off-flavor; some note that chlorinated water also does not work well with these yeast strains. Smokey Denver: This one also had the band-aid flavor, though not as pronounced as the one above. It tasted almost like they blended the Scotch Ale with a brown ale and added some smoke flavor. I also could not finish this one, but smoked beers are more about personal preference and I am honestly not a fan to begin with. Five beers, three of them good examples of their respective, though modified, styles. The pricing is a bit better, but still somewhat high, with pints and 10oz pours in the $5 - $8 range. I am not sure if they offer a happy hour, and I suspect not as I did not see one advertised. Once the honeymoon is over, it is time to build a business on a consistent, delicious product at a fair price. Get three or four styles down that reflect the theme of the Denver Beer Co., do them well, and offer them on a consistent basis. Drop the price to $4 for these flagship beers, run a happy hour, and please, heat the pretzels. read more

Good Stuff. A little far walk for those staying in downtown compared to Wynkoop, Breckenridge or Great Divide, but well worth it. Take a cab, bus, or walk on a nice day, and cab back. Love that they are open good late hours especially on weekends This place is a brewery with a large tasting room and outside patio. No food except for pretzels or other snacks. The brews are what you want to visit here for, and besides the generic sounding name (Denver Beer Co), this place knows what they are doing. I enjoyed their Stage Six Session Ale (I could drink it all day), and the BIG MONEY Maple Nut Brown was BIG Money Tasty. The Fresh Hop IPA was tasty too. I didn't get a chance to try the Graham Cracker Porter, but my mouth is drooling just thinking about it. I will be back next time in Denver to try it out. Next time I would like to try the brewery hike map that they offer. read more

I have heard such good things about the Denver Beer Co., and I don't know why it took so long for us to get down there. I am so glad we did. The selection was fantastic, and every beer we tried was great! I loved the IPA. It was so complex. It really ranked up there in my book. They had live blue grass music that Sunday, and we really enjoyed watching everyone have a good time. Lots of folks were playing board games, and it was a cold day in Denver, but the place was packed. They have the best homemade soft pretzels! $5 for a huge pretzel that they warm up. Come drink and play games! My friends and I walked here after brunch at Ophelia's for beer of course! Inside they have high top tables while outside its lined with picnic tables. One of the girls in our group grabbed a game for us all to play as we drank. Enjoyed a raspberry kolsch called Princess Yum Yum. Very wise choose seeing that the other raspberry lemon-lime shandy was less alcohol! A very refreshing choice after our long walk in the hot sunny day in Denver. We sat outside and played cards against humanity. Bartender was quick on his feet to serve us all up as we lined the bar when we arrive. It's often crowded when I pass while walking the dogs, with people stuffed inside and jammed onto the porch. That is a good indicator, so we stopped in on a weeknight to try the place when it wasn't so packed. We sampled a few beers, and we enjoyed every one (though the bf was a little overwhelmed by the chile in his beer). I really liked my RAHR coffee stout. Prices seemed pretty reasonable, too. I felt a little old for the room, though that's my hangup--the staff were perfectly nice. The bf and I were busy chatting with each other, but I noticed that the staff behind the counter were knowledgeable and willing to talk about the beers on tap. I'll be back for more, and we'll make sure to get to the food truck before they leave. The truck serving Indian food closed up shop before we could order. Lesson learned. read more

This place was cool. Maybe because it was happy hour. There tap menu has a great variety of beer to choose from. Our bartender was nice and helped us right away. We got the fight so we could taste as many as possible. Some of my favorites were Graham cracker porter, Graham cracker bourbon cru, and thin mint porter. As we were drinking our flight, the bartender came over to check on us and gave us a free sample of one of his favorites. I thought that was pretty cool. Our most recent visit was the busiest it's ever been when we've been there, so it's understandable that the service wasn't quite what we've come to expect. In the women's bathroom, all 3 stalls were out of toilet paper and the floors were quite a mess. After notifying one of the bartenders seeing as there was about 50+ women in the taproom at the time, a female employee went in and plopped down one roll on top of each dispenser and walked out. They were most likely in the same situation again an hour later. Also, after my husband showed his AHA card two separate times when ordering beers, one of the bartenders got kind of argumentative about it when we went to close out our tab. The discount didn't appear to be added, so I asked if it had. He said no card had been shown, and I said that it had but we could show it to him again if need be. He then acted hard done by that he had to fix our bill. We'll have to give them the benefit of the doubt that the service level was a result of stress. Their beers were tasty as usual. This place is MY SPOT! Good vibes, beer, and food! There's usually at least once a month a fun event incorporating food and beer. So far I've attended the ice cream pairing as well as the cookie pairing. I love that they do this with local businesses! Also, those two pairing events were AMAZING. They have at least 10 different types of beer available ranging from light to dark to fruity. My personal fav is Princess Yum Yum which is a light raspberry beer. It is quite yum yum indeed!
