Foreboding Obelisk, Golden Roast, and Bavarian Contrarian
    Jennie K.

While visiting Denver, my friends and I decided to visit a brewery, and Monolith Brewery was the one! There isn't a large private parking lot for Monolith, but about a block down from the brewery, there is a small lot between neighboring businesses that fits at most 12 or so vehicles. Any other parking would be along the streets. Upon entering, we were greeted by a smiling staff member who was readily available to assist in taking our orders. As we looked at their beer on tap wall, we were in awe of all the options available. I went with their flight of three: Foreboding Obelisk, Golden Roast, and Bavarian Contrarian. All had different tastes, where the Foreboding Obelisk was like a Guinness - the coffee taste, the Golden Roast was like a Blonde/ Golden Ale - which had a balanced and smooth taste with a malty richness that's complemented by a subtle hint of sweetness. It was an easy-drinking beer. The Bavarian Contrarian gave a smooth, crisp flavor with a delightful balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. The ambience was very chill. There was plenty of seating throughout the brewery, and they also had some bar games at the back. It was fun to see the openness of the brewery system for the beer taps. Music is played on the overhead speakers, but it isn't too loud that it overpowers patrons talking to each other. They have multiple gender-neutral bathrooms that are kept clean and tidy. I highly recommend visiting Monolith Brewery. They have a variety of beers on tap and serve some food items. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely pay another visit.

This is fun newish brewery we stopped by on a little tour of this area. Friendly service and great ambiance! They have a big game in the back called feather bowling and we had a blast playing! Beers were tasty and cold! We'll be back!

Showed up a few minutes before they opened on a Sunday. Stephen (beertender) was super kind and let us come on in a little bit early. We got a flight of their coffee beer, chili beer, peach sour, banana stout and smoked sausage stout, and they were all really tasty. The smoked sausage stout was particularly unique and delicious. Loved the atmosphere as well.

Our service at Monolith was top notch! The bartender was very knowledgeable and welcoming which we greatly appreciated. The only downfall was that we didn't like the taste of the IPAs or Sour that we ordered. However that does happen! I'd recommend that you check out the place and see for yourself. I'd also recommend that the empanadas are heated more because the inside was cold. The atmosphere was fun that can fit a lot of people. They also had a cute dog walking around!

In Denver a couple of days and wanted to check out the well-known brewery scene in town. Don't waste your time at Monolith. Monolithic disappointment. Go to a real brewery. Staff should work flipping burgers. Place is strained. No sense of a beer operation, or true love of craft beer. Feels corporate. I commented on the head on the beer that was poured (see photos). He said it was a pint after the foam goes away (paraphrasing). He didn't do another pour, no apology. Total disbelief. Unacceptable. Go to a dive bar and have a PBR. You'll have a better time.

I haven't written a review in a while. Everything has seemed pretty blah. Stopped by Monolith on a walk around Denver recently. Presidents' Day and bidding time before a flight and they were open. The attention to detail is noticeable as soon as you walk in. Seriously....from the tap Handles to the far reaching menu( if you can't find something to drink here you are the problem ), to the fact they carry the excellent empanadas from next door, Monolith was such a nice discovery. Breath of fresh air from the service to the excellent craft beer. Stop by, drink a beer and try your hand at the crazy game going on in back. Well worth it!

Great neighborhood spot! Very much a local atmosphere. The bartender was super welcoming and friendly and hooked it up with a couple of Great beers. Bonus: most beers are served in 19.3oz glasses. Big beers are dope!

Friendly staff who greeted us by name, 8 beers on tap with a good variety of styles. And also offered some guest taps from other breweries. They had various empanadas from Maria's. Large taproom with a cool mural painted on the main wall. Recommend you give them a try! Cheers!

Wonderful neighborhood brewery with great community events (live jazz every Tuesday and board game nights on Wednesday). Dakota, one of the bartenders, is incredibly friendly and welcoming!

What a great find in the new to us Platt Park area! Selection of beer wine and cocktails! Food for thought... Pretzels and empanadas to snacking on! Thanks Steve!!!!

The Bad Ass Smoked Pulled Porter Stout was awesome. A beer that drinks and eats like a meal all at the same time!

Was walking down S Broadway and saw a new brewery that I hadn't hear of. Stumbled in & it was amazing !! The staff was so friendly and inviting. The beer was delicious !! They had some very unique beer flavors (serrano jalapeño, coffee blonde, etc). They offer empanadas but I did not eat when I went. Monolith is so close to my apartment - I will definitely be returning !!

Of course there are variations like a Michelada, house cocktails, wines, NA options, etc. The difference between producing lagers and ales is MASSIVE, and I tip my cap to everyone involved in crafting beers that have put Denver on the map. The Slow Pour Pils is one of three beers that I would consider the unofficial beer of Denver. It takes five minutes to pour, is served in a custom made glass (really cool story behind this), and has the perfect floating foam (like a cloud) sitting perfectly atop the beer. I crushed two of their Italian Pilsners yesterday. This is simply a fantastic beer. The Helles and Dunkel surely are not to be missed. But do one thing, get their Oktoberfest when it comes out (usually around mid September). It's one of the best I've ever had. There's a lot of stories inside this building. The legendary pieces of equipment, the unique brewing methods, the different spaces to hang out, etc. There's a reason Bierstadt has been tapped as the brewery "where the brewers go." To me, they can never receive a higher compliment. I'm really glad they're still kicking after celebrating their 10th anniversary. Almost a teenager!!! It's always fun visiting this place. This is a Denver must when it comes to breweries. You might not summit a 14er at this particular Bierstadt, but you'll find some of the best traditionally brewed beers in the country.

Loved listening to the bands, and exploring the huge space. They have olllllld school pinball game, giant jenga, gigantic cornhole, trash can sized beer pong, and ladder ball (normal size). They also have an original Nintendo with Mario. Seating a little tricky, be careful sitting on the benches, they move in odd ways. But loved the tables and chairs upstairs with the perfect view of the stage! Service was my only complaint- I think the first guy at the bar was having a hard time because they were so busy. I waited at the bar for a while without being acknowledged, then by the time he did finally notice me he just held up a finger. Finally a chick came over and took my order, but it took a while. She was perfectly nice, however, and it wouldn't stop me from returning or recommending them. The helles was a decent German beer with a good depth of flavor- I would come back and try their other beers for sure. Highly highly recommend and will absolutely be back for other events! Bring back emo night please!

We were greeted and served by the bartender Junebug and although it seemed like he was the only staff, he was friendly and attentive with us and all the patrons. The beer was great, there were so many great options to choose from and so we had some of the IPAs, lagers and ales. Staying true to the name, the decor has a woodsy feel and the handles are made of various wood shapes. It was nice to see that they also offer some mixed drink options, margaritas, and a slushy option. There were some salty snacks available for purchase which was also a nice option to have. Happy Hour M-F 3-6pm with $5 pints. The place and restrooms were clean (two singles), there were some canned beers and merch items available for purchase, an outdoor patio and plenty of street parking. Overall the service and place were great! Some things to mention, having the live band was great and the place is dog and kid friendly which are also a nice option to have at any venue. But the volume of the jazz band was just a bit too loud for the space and together with the many small kids playing and running around took away from this being a relaxing day. Nonetheless, the bartender Junebug made it an overall enjoyable evening after the kids left and we closed off the evening with another great brewery find that we'll be sure to visit again.
