The biggest draw for this place is the view/location. It's just a nice place to sit and have lunch especially when the weather is good. The burgers are always a good bet. I went out on a limb and got a Reuben. (Getting a Reuben from here was the limb; getting Reubens in general is totally my tree.) It was neither great nor bad. As far as Reuebens from out, it is smaller and not the impressive (and usually large) sandwich you'll find at other places. However, it was just like a Reuben I'd make at home, so hard to go wrong there. The basket of tots we split was generous and a nice complement to either the burger she got or the Reuben. Definitely someplace everyone should try.

I must say that looks are definitely deceptive! While it looks like the engine of a train the food is definitely not side of the road quality! I had a burger and fries and it was delicious I mean everything is fresh the service was great the ambience was perfect! To top it off I met the owner and he was quite a gentleman.. Very appreciative for my business! So if you're sliding through downtown Helena and got a taste for an awesome place to grab a bit! Depot deli and grill is a great option!!

The depot is a great place to grab a casual bite and enjoy the view. Nothing fancy, but comfortable space with a nice vibe.

The Depot is a staple in the town of Helena. Located next to the waterfall, this small burger spot has a great view! The menu is simple and delicious. The last time I came, my friend had a reuben and I had the mushroom Swiss burger. We both really enjoyed our meals! My burger was perfectly cooked, and served with crinkle cut fries sprinkled with seasoned salt. SO yummy. No alcohol is served here, but they have soft drinks and tea. The decor inside is simple, the walls are covered in signed dollar bills! Definitely a great place to go if you want to have lunch with a gorgeous view!

Stopped in the other night for a good down home burger and that's what I got. The guys were real nice and took my order as soon as I entered. They do have a variety of choices and I saw someone ordered wings and they looked pretty good. I ordered the 8oz cheeseburger all the way with fries. I could have done the 4oz but I was a little hungry. This was a big juicy hand patted burger that was cooked perfectly. The condiments were basic and the bun was a regular bun. What made this sandwich was the meat. I could have eaten it without the bun and it would have been just as good. The fries could use a little work. They were over fries and hard and they were all tiny like the ones at the bottom of a bag! I think if all were hitting on all cylinders, it would have been a higher ranking but I have to be honest. Check them out if you're in the area.

We are in Alabama visiting family and they wanted us to try this local favorite. It has a ton of southern charm. It is decorated with tools and signs and random country stuff. Like Cracker Barrel, but more authentic. We sat outside on the deck and it overlooks a river. It was a sunny, but cold, day. Still families were out walking the river bank. I had a burger and wings. The burger was cooked perfectly on a nice bun. It as a mushrom swiss burger. Good cheese and plenty of mushrooms. The wings were tasty, but a little over breaded for my taste. Overall the food was better than average but not great. I still ranked it a five because the total experience was awesome. It is a nice small town spot just a short distance from Birmingham.

I've been coming here since I was in middle school and the food has ALWAYS been so so good. The service was very quick and terrific as well. I loved being able to sit out in the back patio and just take in the beauty of the day while having a nice philly cheese steak and fries with my girlfriend.

One of the best views in Birmingham and without a doubt the best cheeseburger. I also love their chicken salad. Go on a pretty day and sit outside.

I'm gonna get straight to the point and make this quick. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! I'm not joking AT ALL. It was so good that I got mad when I took the last bite because I wanted more! I will definitely be returning !

Heading the back way home from Pelham/Alabaster area, I checked out Yelp for suggestions in the area. Good reviews and great views led me to this little hidden gem. Outdoor shaded seating overlooking Buck Creek to accompany plenty of indoor seating. When you first walk in they have a large menu board and counter to the right. Step up and place your order, fill your drink and find a seat. The server was exceptionally friendly and when she found out I hadn't been there before, let me know what the menu favorites were. My eyes had already landed on one of those favorites, the Bacon Cheese Burger. Add a side order of Tator Tots and I was set. Wend outside and found a spot to sit, the temp was perfect in the shade. Sound of the water flowing over the dam in the back ground made for a great setting for dinner. Food came out pretty quickly (under 10 minutes). Burger wasn't overly huge, but was packed with flavor. Tator tots weren't anything special, but I added some seasoning salt and dipped in BBQ and they were just fine. Nobody ever makes you feel rushed, prices are good and the staff are friendly. With the amazing views of Buck Creek it's hard to pass this little gem up. Note: other reviews classified this as a dive restaurant, and that is pretty spot on when it comes to the interior, but I loved their set up and will be returning soon!

I have sat down multiple times to write this review and I've deleted it because I can't seem to…read morefully express how amazing this business and these owners truly are. My family and I visited this restaurant after my doctors appointment a couple of weeks ago, we are not from the area we actually live in Gadsden so it was our first time trying this restaurant. Let me just start out with this the food was absolutely delicious. I don't have much of an appetite these days and I. An honestly say I finished almost all of my food and ate until I was stuffed and that isn't something that happens very often. Each member of my family was happy with their food and was already planning out what they would order when we come back after my next appointment . I just opened a Farm Stand in our home town and while we were sitting and eating I spotted a mixer that was sitting off to the side with some other supplies. If you know anything about industrial mixers they are far from cheap I had been looking at a few in the $500 range so I thought I would just check. I asked the guy upfront if he could ask the owner if it was for sale and if so how much he was asking. The owner came and spoke to us and I quickly realized that the mixer he had was way more expensive than the ones I had been looking at and I told him I was sorry that I couldn't even give him a fair price after looking up the kind he had . He looked at us and gave me a price that was astonishing to say the least , but I still didn't have that much at the moment. He told me to give him what I could and then pay him later when I had it for the rest. This is a man who has never met me he had no reason to help me besides just being kind. When you hear this man talk about helping others and community he means it, it's not just talk to make him sound good. I left his restaurant that day with a mixer that was several thousands of dollars. So I say all of that to say this Alabaster and surrounding areas yall are truly blessed to have a business that not only has amazing food but has amazing people who truly care about others, and from personal experience I can tell you they don't have to have known you for years to treat you like family. We will be making this restaurant part of our stop each time we come through. Thank you again for blessing me I can't tell you how much it has ment!

We were greeted promptly and took a few minutes to look at the menu. I LOVE roast beef, so it peaked my interest. My wife chose the Smiley burger. We placed our order and grabbed a seat. Place was quiet even though it was probably 75% full for lunch. Roast beef was served hot in toasted sour dough. Cheddar, tomato, lettuce and horseradish topped the generous portion of roast beef. Bread was crisp and the beef was hot and juicy. Horseradish gave a nice tangy flavor. My wife's Smiley burger was hand patted. Juicy and perfectly cooked. Bun was soft inside and nicely toasted in the outside. Bread and butter pickles, onion, tomato and lettuce topped it off. But the star of the show were the fries cooked in beef tallow!! Hot and salty, crispy and a deep flavor. I would come back just for the fries. Although a little bit pricey for lunch, it was excellent! Staff were friendly and attentive! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back! Thanks for an awesome lunch and excellent experience!

This place was packed for lunch. The sandwiches I saw being made looked delicious. The Smiley cheeseburger was $15.95 and to add fries and soda was $6.95 so almost $25 for a burger combo. The burger was good. It tasted like it was cooked in a cast iron skillet and the fries were shoestring fries. That is my least favorite fry but the taste was really good. The staff was nice and was very efficient in how they ran everything. I definitely wanna come back and try a deli sandwich

I jumped at the chance to try this place out because of the reviews of other Yelpers. The restaurant is sitting on the corner of Pelham Parkway and County Road 68 East, across from The Foundry Superthrift Outlet and Dollar General, and next door to TherapySouth. It is a nice sized place and the atmosphere is welcoming. I was helped by Dyron, who seemed like he never knew a stranger. He was so kind to everyone, including those on the phone. I even heard him say, "So we got your dad covered - what can I get started for YOU?" He was excited when he found out I was a "newbie". I love the menu. Each item has some form of "hit" in the name - slappin', crackin', slammin', and more. I ended up with the "Bussin' Burger" and a side of fries to go (since I was heading back to work). The food is cooked upon ordering, so my meal was nice and hot when I left. And I am here to tell you, the name of the burger was totally accurate! It was delicious - seasoned very well, and the perfect amount of toppings. The fries were good, but that burger - so good! No wonder Hit Different is a 2026 Shelby County Small Business of the Year Nominee! They deserve it and then some! Do yourself a favor, listen to the other Yelpers, and head down Highway 31 for an amazing meal at Hit Different! I am going back!
