Food and service is great. Missing a few preferred options from the menu - I'm hopeful those will return soon.

The pizza at Grimaldi's was great really good flavor, and well made. Unfortunately, the service and ordering experience were pretty concerning. We placed an online order at 2pm for an 8pm pickup since I was flying back and wanted everything timed properly. Around 5:30pm, my wife called to see if we could adjust pickup slightly earlier (~7:50pm), and they couldn't even find the order. After multiple holds spanning ~15mins on the phone, accusatory remarks of not placing the order at the right location, she was eventually told it would be ready at 8pm as scheduled and they could not accommodate the ~10min modification. No big deal, this was a Friday night, we get it. When she arrived right at 8pm, the order still wasn't ready, and staff seemed unsure what was going on. This was after we had already called to confirm it. Then we were told the system doesn't "trigger" the order until the scheduled time, which doesn't make much sense if you're offering timed pickups. In the end, the pizza didn't come out until about 30 minutes late for no clear reason. Really disappointing experience overall because the food itself was solid, but the breakdown in the ordering system and communication left a pretty sour impression. read more

Super disappointed in this place. I've never been to a place like this that didn't also have some kind of pastas on the menu, but nothing. Only pizza and salads. I brought my best friend from out of town here because the place that we had planned on going was closed. We we seated smack dab between 2 other tables that were so close to ours, everyone could hear each other's conversations very clearly. It was so awkward. We both got mocktails, which were good, then my friend ordered a regular 12 inch cheese pizza and I ordered a 12 inch with four toppings. The sun-dried tomatoes on my pizza were not even edible. They were so hard and chewy I had to pull all of them off after spitting out all the ones in my first slice. My friend said her crust was so hard she couldn't bite into the end of it. Then to my surprise, I got the check and it was over $70! How is that possible for 2 of the smallest size pizzas (1 being only cheese) and 2 non alcoholic drinks?! My friend was like, "Dang we could have gone to a place like Firebirds and it would have actually been good." I will never go here again. read more

Updating my review since I've been back here a couple of times since for lunch. They have a nice lunch deal where you get salad, a big slice of pizza, and a drink for $10.99. Sweet! Wanted to try Grimaldi's since I have seen several posts on social media about them. We went around lunchtime and had no problem getting a table. The staff were friendly and attentive. Gave an overview of the menu and answered any questions we had. We decided to get the larger pizza with half Margherita half pepperoni. Also ordered the bruschetta bread (I like two of the three). For the pizza, I enjoyed the Margherita pizza better than the pepperoni. The pepperoni didn't have much taste and was bland to me. I do appreciate the fresh ingredients and quality of the food. Much better than the chain pizza. Would I give them another try? Maybe. I may try some other items on the menu. read more

This is a nice addition to this area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The decor gives upscale pizzeria. Priced reasonably with a rewards program that offers a free appetizer on your first visit. There's a nice selection of specialty pizzas and salads. You can also build your own pizza. We split the largest size into a barbeque pizza and cheese with hot honey. The bruschetta is a great shareable appetizer. Everything was delicious with slices left for later. read more

My wife and I made our first visit this evening for dinner and really enjoyed the service and the food. Allison C was very good making sure that we had a nice experience. The Caesar salad was fresh and cold and the dressing tasted great. The salad had the right amount of dressing on it. We chose the extra pepperoni hot honey pizza. It was outstanding. I highly recommend. During my time in the area, I visited Grimaldis twice. The pizza was delicious, thin crust but definitely filling. The waitresses we had were attentive and offered great suggestions. The vibes gave Italian and New York pizzeria. I enjoyed and will definitely visit again. read more

The best pizza I have EVER had in my life!!! Now I know why everyone is always raving over pizzas made in coal fired pizza ovens. Get this! The first time you come in if you download their app, you will get a free small (it's really huge) appetizer or small salad. My friend, and I (since we both signed up for the app immediately) each ordered our own app. She got the anti-pasto app, and I got the tomato, and mozzarella app. Of course we both shared our apps, and they were fantastic!!! I think the normal price for the apps would have been around $12 so it was a HUGE perk for our first time there. I ordered the single large slice of pizza Margherita style (ONLY $4), and she ordered a large "The Don" pizza (18"), which comes with this amazing sausage on it. It was delicious! Her large pizza was around $30~. So, so, so good! You have to try this new place! You won't be disappointed! Great NY style pizza. We stopped in after a long day of errands & vet visit. We needed to keep an eye on the vehicle, and the bar was perfect for us! Ally was our server & took great care of us. It was our first visit, so she made sure we knew all the options & items available. We went for dinner in 9/2024. There was a 45 min wait, as expected on a Friday night at a new restaurant. We sat outside, 1.) because of perfect weather, 2.) because it pretty loud in the restaurant. Keeping in mind, it's a pizza place and a Friday night! It's fine. The staff was on point. Our server was Jevon. He was great! We ordered a 'make your own' medium (16') pizza with 3 toppings (chicken, spinach, mushrooms) and 2 teas. Our total including the 20% tip option was $50. I signed up for the rewards program and took advantage of the free bruschetta offer. The pizza was really good. I've seen mixed reviews, but ours was definitely good. Super cute atmosphere! It looked exactly how one would imagine a pizza place looks. All of the employees were super nice too. Ordered their lunch special by getting two slices. One with spicy chicken sausage and one plain. Arrived quickly but they were both only warm at best...didn't taste like they were fresh out of the oven either. Deciding to go with the lunch special may have made a difference on the temperature of the food...but I likely won't be back to find out. Also ordered the bruschetta and it was okay. Bread didn't taste grilled and, again, lukewarm at best. About the same price point as Pizza Grace or Capella Pizzaria, but not nearly as good either one of those unfortunately. read more

We absolutely loved our first time there. Wife started with a salad. She said it was fresh and with great ingredients. She enjoyed it. She said she would come come back just for that. Lol. This was my fourth or fifth time here and I guess I never reviewed it because toi me it is just another pizza place. Emily Squared over in the Summit is my favorite pizza place so I judge every other one by it. The pizzas here are very, very good and the service is always top notch. I know it has nothing to do with food but I always have a issue finding a close parking place but that may be because I go at busy times. Also, the place is big and bustling and ity just seems almost like a fast casual place rather than a cozy pizza place. None of that is to take away from the fact that the pizzas are above average, the service is top notch and the prices are reasoanble. All that is to say I will continue to come back. read more

Checked out the Grimaldi's franchise in Hoover. We got there in a Saturday afternoon around 4 pm. Moderately busy but we were seated immediately. We were greeted by friend staff who went over the menu with us and took our drink orders. I had done my research so I downloaded the Grimaldi's app and got a free starter for signing up for the rewards program. We chose the Tomato and basil bruschetta. It came out quickly with a generous portion of tomato, nicely toasted bread. Could have used a little more Parmesan and basil. But it had a fresh garlic/tomato taste, pretty close to home made. Very good! We had never tried coal brick oven pizza before so we were intrigued. We have always loved wood brick oven pizza so we were hoping it was just as good. We then chose our pizzas. My wife chose the 12 in white with garlic and I got the 12 in traditional and added pepperoni. Pizza came out piping hot! Crust was thin and crispy. Had almost zero flop. The undercarriage was crispy and charred. My traditional tomato sauce had a great flavor with a nice acidic bite. Pepperoni were bite sized but cut slightly thinker than normal. Overall 8/10 pizza! Of course I had to try my wife's white with garlic. Nice olive oil base with hint of garlic. Same crispy crust with nice crunch. Cheese was a nice mix of fresh flavors. Overall 7.5/10! Staff were attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Restaurant was clean and relatively quiet for a Saturday night. I appreciated the fact that there was only one TV in the main dining room. It made for a more pleasant meal with my wife. And the Diet Coke was on point! I might have found my new favorite pizza restaurant!!! Highly recommend! read more

Don't waste your money. Pizza sucked. Server was nice and apologized and got manager. Manager just basically told me I was wrong. $30 plus tip for a small pizza and a tea and I would have gotten MUCH better pizza from Papa John's without having a snotty manager tell me I'm wrong. read more

Grimaldi's is a chain and we typically try to avoid chains when we travel but we visited this location anyways. Pizza is always spot on. We got a meat lovers style pizza and a small BBQ chicken pizza. Both were amazing. We also order bruschetta and it was good. They have Coke products which is always a plus for our group. The restaurants are all decorated the same so there was nothing different at this location. This location is quite large and they also have a full bar. Our server was polite and attentive. I would recommend this spot if you are having a pizza craving. read more

New spot in hoover so I had to check it out. I love thin crispy pizza so I was very excited to try this ny style coal oven pizza. Went for lunch and they have 4$ slices and 10.99 slice salad and drink. I opted to try the traditional tomato sauce base with Italian sausage and the salami on white(garlic). The pizza dough was chewy and had a little crisp but I would've liked more crisp. It also was served luke warm and I wish it was hotter. At lunch the slices are pre-made and I guess toppings added and then reheated bc it came out within minutes. That's great if u r in a rush, but I wish I got a whole pizza instead so that it was made and cooked fresh. When we first heard Grimaldi's was going in we're were extremely happy!!! Now fast forward to opening day. We got here about 10 till 5pm and were seated immediately. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, the staff were on point and very polite and attentive. Now on the to main review of the food! We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, we ordered the large which was $33.00. A little pricey but we expected a high price for true authentic Net York pizza.. well to our surprise it was not very good pizza.... The chicken had no flavor, there was BBQ sauce just drizzled around the pizza so you really only got a little flavor from that. It did have tons of onions on it as you can see from my picture... so needless to say we were extremely disappointed. We will give this place one more shot, but this time I will order a calzone. I did see a customer with a calzone, but from 2 tables away. From the looks of it, the sauce was lacking on that too.. So at this time I can't really recommend this place.... We ate here for the first time yesterday. We were in the mood for pizza. I ordered the traditional gluten free crust with my favorite toppings - which always includes jalapeños! My husband had the pepperoni di Avalo. Both were excellent and we finished the leftovers today. They also have a cauliflower GF crust. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ambiance was nice. Food is overpriced,for starters. $30 for a large pepperoni is absurd, and go still higher with additional toppings. Food quality control is grossly uneven: one evening we were with a group of 7 people. Everyone ordered their own pizza. 4 of them were very burnt on the bottoms. Why they came out of the kitchen is a mystery, and the server actually asked if they need to make replacements! Another time we did takeout, and there were almost no slices of pepperoni, the sauce and crust were tasteless. The wait staff is poorly trained, and inattentive. Well, this is the second time we tried Grimaldi's. The first time was a great experience. The second time not so much. We ordered a traditional pizza with basil, spinach, and Roma tomatoes. It got to our table super quick, and we were amazed at how fast it was delivered. After taking the first bite, we knew why it was so fast. For some reason, the pizza was tepid at best. I am used to having a pizza that is super hot, and the pizza we ordered should have been super hot if it had, in fact, just come out of the coal fired oven. We surmised that perhaps the crust and sauce were precooked. Then the toppings we ordered were added and just heated. Not a good look for a new pizza restaurant that touts their coal fired pizza. I don't think we will go back for a third time as there are too many other pizza restaurants in the area. read more
