I was always curios about DermFx. I knew from their advertisements that their pricing was extremely competitive. In fact, DermFx may offer the best pricing in S CA but I wondered if there was a catch. Was this simply a method to generate floor traffic? And, of course, pricing isn't everything. I decided to find out and set up an appointment at the new Riviera Village location in South Redondo. Dana, the Receptionist, was my initial contact. She was very personable and seemed dedicated to detailing me on how to save even more money. My appointment was with Caitlin. I found her to be sincere, professional, knowledgeable, confidant and talented. I believe the time I spent with her was valuable and I have already set up a second appointment. I have been coming here for the past 9 years. I absolutely love it! I have skin that bruises easily with injections. Most places I have been to in the past are not extra careful to try and avoid the bruising. Every aesthetician I have seen here takes such extra care to try and avoid any veins or minimize bruising. I miss this place in the little house on PCH before they moved and started gouging long-term customers with their hard sell, making things up along the way to benefit their own pockets. I have been going to Dermfx for years and my go-to is Dysport. Through the years my units have changed as is normal with age and I finally found my sweet spot at 36 units in my forehead and glabella, which lasts me 4 months! I'm happy! I decided, going forward, to skip my crowsfeet because I laugh so much it doesn't "take", plus I found a great new crowsfeet product that I love elsewhere. So the last couple sessions I only purchased 36 units ($117) and Ima Happy Camper, but this time they announced "no can do", you need to purchase at least $200 minimum. ?? I asked WHY? I'm perfectly happy with 36 units and the injector said we'd like to see you get more in your forehead (60 units)? Are you out of your mind? I've never had that much on my face, I don't want to be stiff with no movement, but it doesn't even matter, I shouldn't have to explain, it's nobody else's decision but my own, what the customer is happy with, not YOU. I grabbed my purse and was half way off the bed in the treatment room, ready to leave, when the gal said "hold on", let me go ask. Normally, it's 5 min and I'm on my way, I don't even need to wait for ice to numb, but this last appt took about 1/2 hour because more than one person came in & out of room leaving me waiting to "get permission" from the Dermfx god. The one gal came back and said "we'll do it this last time, but that's it". She even had the nerve to say "another nurse told you last time about our $200 minimum" which was a lie, NOBODY TOLD ME THAT! Dermfx used to be so fair and give you a 2 week complimentary follow-up to come back for light touch-ups if needed, which was so nice, but they did away with that because, after all, they aren't making any dough with freebie touch-ups. They also raised the promo that, for years was, 90 units of Dysport and get $50 off, NOW it's 120 units of Dysport. The whole experience left me with such a bad feeling, it made me feel cheap and undervalued as a paying customer, and I told them that I didn't appreciate the canned hard sell. This ain't my first rodeo, you could tell it was all marketing and they were trained to regurgitate their mantras but it didn't work on me, and it was my last time there. I called a couple other places who are HAPPY to take my money with no minimum. I did leave feedback about the appt when they sent it, but nobody got back to me, so whatever. I would be willing to revise this feedback if Dermfx made it right and went back to the way things used to be before they got greedy. It's simply not fair to force a paying customer to pay more than the units they want or need. Their new location is beautiful and very big, I'll give them that, with way too many workers walking around IMO, so I guess they've got to pay the higher rent and workers. I had an IPL done and my forehead was badly burned. I returned to discuss it and was given a lotion to help with the peeling and then mailed a rx to avoid hyperpigmentation due to the burning. I went had had Botox at dermfix last minute since they take walking and needed it right away . The Botox didn't seem to do anything for me, wrinkles didn't go anywhere round my eyes , so i went back and my nurse gave me an attitude first then agree to redo the treatment on their buck. Well it didn't work again, so finally I went back to the place ai normally go , paid again , and problem solved, Botox worked great as usual , however I still lost over $400 I paid at dem fix . I wouldn't go there and would not recommend this place to anyone . Sadly enough I stop going to dermfix because of the same reason way back , bad Botox, I decided to give it a chance and let me down again. I went in Friday for a kenalog shot to reduce inflammation of an annoying cystic pimple. The nurse practitioner was so aggressive in trying to pop the pimple (which she did not succeed at because it is cystic and so deep) that it gave me a huge scab. I came out so much worse than when I came in. I'm so upset she DAMAGED my skin and now I have to wait for the scab to peel off on its own. I have a darker skintone so there will undoubtedly be some hyper pigmentation and fingers crossed, it does not completely scar up. I went in the next day to have another nurse take a look at the aftermath. I appreciate they gave me a skincare system to use while it heals but this should have NEVER happened in the first place. It's embarrassing. I rarely wear makeup but now have to and it can't be covered up well. I have work events to attend this week and this huge scab smack dab on my chin is killing my self confidence. I also spend a lot of time in the water, beach AKA no makeup and this just looks awful. I've had great experiences with other nurse practitioners but after this, I will not return as a customer. read more

The good part. They have lots of specials and sometimes they have great injectors. What I don't like is when I find an injector I like ,I stick with them. But this place always has different injectors. Sometimes when I book an appointment with my favorite injector they say I am booked with her and when I show up they say she's not working or is at a different location. Some injectors have bad attitudes and seem rushed . Others have a heavy hand and leave you too bruised. I really wish they kept the same injectors in place. Had botox done by nurse Kaitlyn or Caitlyn about a month or so ago (don't remember how she spelled her name). Anyway, she made me feel so uncomfortable with her quiet/awkward/judgmental demeanor. It was odd. When she was injecting my Botox her hands were shaking like she was on something. She just had this attitude that was off putting and made me want to get out of there asap. They had a great special for a full syringe of Resylane refine. I don't get my lips done often and I was hesitant to do a full syringe but Vanessa was incredible. She knows what she's doing and makes you feel so comfortable. The topical numbing seems like it's improved over the years. IMO it didn't hurt much in the beginning, just a few involuntary tears and a sneeze, then after a few injections didn't hurt at all. And they look so natural, and even. It's almost like she knew exactly what my lips needed and where even though it was her first time with me. Will absolutely be a repeat customer of hers when the time comes. Just fyi this place did move, I accidentally went to the old location which I guess happens quite frequently so don't make that mistake. The facilities are so sleek, beautiful, clean, and the admin girls are awesome. I never felt like I was being pressured into a service I didn't want or need.
