I cannot begin to say enough good things about the quality of service and professionalism that Derrell showed us. I am currently deployed and as a gift I had purchased my son a new Intel chip for his computer. My wife took the computer to another shop to have them swap out his old chip for the new one. After having the computer for two weeks, this other shop called and told us that the brand new chip was bad and that we could buy an equivalent one from them for more money. When I said no, they charged us for their time (about $150) and gave us the computer back. Almost immediately it crashed and would not work properly. My son was devastated and being so far from home there was little I could do. We looked for recommendations for a better shop and had a few people recommend Derrell. I was able to text him and he said he would diagnose the issue. My wife dropped off the computer and Derrell was able to spot the issue within a few hours. Derrell charges extremely reasonable prices for his quality of work and is very forthcoming on what he pays for parts. In fact, he does not make money off the parts as he actually let me order some of the ones I wanted and shipped to his house. My son now has his computer back and he is so happy. This really made my wife and I extremely happy as well because while I am deployed the computer is a huge outlet for my son and he was heartbroken not to have it for a while. I read some of the reviews of other people that have lost data on old machines. Every IT person will tell you the same thing, make copies and backups of all your data and photos. Especially before you or anyone does any work on your computer. Hardware fails sometimes and files can become corrupt and data can get lost. If you have valuable photos or data on your computer, copy them to another drive or burn them to a CD or save them to a cloud backup drive. I was a little leary about taking my computer to be repaired by someone who works out of his garage (per previous reviews.) So glad I did! What a different experience than having my computer fixed by Bestbuy or one of the other name brand places. Derrell not only fixed the computer for a fraction of what I've paid in the past, but he kept me informed (via text and phone calls) of the repair progress, and actually discussed options that I know would not have been presented to me by one of the other store repair places. He had the computer up and running in 2 days. He made a repair that may or may not hold permenantly, so "just in case" he bought and paid for the part I would need in the event I will need it. I cannot lie this pains me to do because my first experience with this service was great. My screen cracked on my laptop brought it to him, he fixed it at a very reasonable price and turn around time was impressive. I had to take it back shortly after because I couldn't get in, everytime I put my password in to log in it said it was wrong. This time it was weeks on weeks of him having to completely erase everything off my laptop and but it all back, it was finally determined he said by someone else that my keyboard wasn't functioning properly and I needed a new one, the only thing is it had already been weeks and there were additional time needed to get the part and I was moving out of the state. It's was agreed he'll get it done and mail it to me, still weeks went by, at this time my life was on my laptop (a bit over 3 years ago), and not having it was hindering a lot of things I needed to get done. Long story short, it was mailed back to me with the same keyboard, fine. I was told that all my data ie docs, pictures etc, was put back on. When I get it back the system worked but when trying to access my pictures I would get an error message. I told him this on a few occasions this and really got no where so I gave up. Finally I go to a local repair shop in my new town, by then just a few months ago my laptop was shot (expected as it's more than a few years old) so I just requested that they transfer all my data to a hard drive. Well finally today I I'm needing a particular picture to honor my daughter who died and guess what? NOTHING all my pictures are gone. My wedding pictures, the birth of my last child pictures and what hurts more than anything my daughter who passed pictures are gone. I can't get my tattoo of her for her would be 10th birthday the only picture I have left of her are the ones we choose for her obituary. I went to see Derrell about 5 months ago with a very slow laptop and hopes that he could do something to help. Just a heads up that Derrell works out of his garage so if you drive into the San Carlos area and think you are looking for an office you might fly right past his garage. I also really liked that Darrell had late hours so I could go after work. He took my computer overnight, made some adjustments, and also gave me some software to help clean up my laptop. He also said I could contact him if I still had any problems after I took it home and installed a viewer where he could remote in if needed to see the issue.
