We purchased a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 from Desert Motor Auto Sales (41841 Beacon Hill, Palm Desert, CA), and within a week , we've had to start putting in over $1,000 into repairs. We have had the vehicle for one year and only drove 2,000 miles with this truck. The repairs included replacing the radiator, water pump, power steering hose, starter, battery, and even having to fix the radio. When we bought the truck, they provided a Carfax report that made the vehicle look clean and problem-free, which clearly was not the case. We now believe they were not transparent about the true condition of the vehicle. The dealership came off as underhanded and misleading, and we strongly recommend others use caution when dealing with them. We've since purchased a different vehicle and are now trying to sell this truck just to move on. read more

These guys/Desert Auto Dealer (DAD hereafter) should be run out of business! I bought my wife a Maserati from them back in March of last year (that's right, year of 2023), and we've had nothing but problems with the car because of them since then. We had it delivered to us here in WA, & part of the stipulation was that they fix the electric seat because it wouldn't raise or lower. Avi (the manager/main car salesman) put it in the sales contract that it would be fixed before it was sent to us. We also gave him our address in Seattle and told him to mail the plates/registration/title here to us, & he said he would. As well, when our friend checked out the car for us before purchase, he said that it'd need a new battery. They at DAD said that they'd put a new one in; I SAW one of the salesmen walking with a car battery towards the car after that, but I didn't see him put it into the car. I test-drove the car, and it seemed to run fine at the time, with no lights on the dash on or blinking. I asked DAD if there were any problems with the car and if everything else worked on it and was told the car was fine. But, guess what? 1) When we got the car, the seat was NOT fixed. My wife had to put a large pillow on the seat to be able to see over the hood (she's tiny). 2) They/DAD mailed the plates/registration/title to the CA address where her father lives (we snowbird there at times) when we told them SPECIFICALLY not to mail them there. The plates/registration/title were as such stolen out of the mailbox as her father doesn't live there year 'round. Over the last year & 3 months (15 months, no lie) she's been on the phone with CA DMV to get new plates/registration/title. She went through probably 15 different procedures as per 15 different DMV people telling her how to get the plates/registration/title to her here, all of which were wrong. She finally got through to the right person, & she just got the title & registration THIS WEEK so that she could get the car registered here at WA DMV. 3) The car was started every 2 weeks in the garage during this past winter to keep the battery alive, but then all of a sudden wouldn't start about 6 months ago so I figured it died. New car batteries last 3 - 5 years, and when I went to jump start it today it was COMPLETELY dead (I was right) & I couldn't jump it. Additionally, in looking at the battery terminals, they've been on the battery for quite a while, to the extent that I doubt DAD put a new battery in, at most a used one if they replaced it at all. We now have to call a mobile battery service to bring/install a new one, which will be at least $400. 4) Here's the best part. When we received it here in WA it was drivable at first, and my wife took it out MAYBE three times, and very carefully, before there were problems with the transmission. The red transmission light came on and wouldn't go off (we found out that meant there were transmission issues & that it needed serviced). We took it to the Seattle Maserati dealership, and it took 6 months for the new parts to come in from Europe to fix the transmission. $5,000 later, what it cost to fix the transmission, the car finally ran right. My guess is that the codes were erased before we bought the car (I of course can't prove it, nor the battery issue), as that light wasn't on when I test-drove the car. I'm saying this all to say, DON'T BUY A CAR THERE! They had lots of great looking cars (our Maserati being one), but even after having the car checked out, we had ALL these problems. Take your business to a reputable dealer, but if you do go to DAD, don't believe a thing they tell you! read more

We finally got another car after being a one-car family for around 4 months. These guys seemed great and I was planning on going back to them soon to replace my car, but then the car we bought from them turned out to need $3,000 of work to get in proper working order. This is after the mechanic they recommended across the street from them gave it a clean bill of health. On top of that, they were supposed to order a part for us - as part of the deal for the purchase of the car - to fix an inoperable rear window, but we never heard from them again. And of course when you call their number, you get a voicemail system that says their mailbox is full, so you can't leave a message. The very next day under 50 miles later the water pump was cracked and leaking! I took it to the dealer and the front lower control arms are bad and also need replacement! After seeing a few posts online, I stopped by last week to check a few cars out for my wife. Avi was very attentive and accommodating to all our questions and concerns. We ended up picking up a small BMW X3 (2013). The car had a few (expected) wear and tear items which Avi committed to repairing. Paid $5500 for a car then had to pay $6,000+ in repairs the first month I owned it. To make a long story short, I purchased a Nissan Xterra from Desert Auto Dealer as a tertiary vehicle and it turned out to be a total lemon that cost more to repair than I paid for the car. The first time I actually drove the car after bringing it home, the check engine light turned on and it turned out that the car had massive transmission and other issues. Furthermore, I found out that instead of fixing the issue that made the check airbag light turn on, which was a part of our verbal pre-purchase agreement and which he swore he'd fix because it was a "safety issue," Avi just had it reset. When I went to tell Avi, he told me that because I bought the car "as is" he didn't have to fix the car, take it back, or do anything for me. If you look past all the glowing five star reviews from people who have mostly only ever reviewed Desert Auto Dealer on Google and on Yelp (under Desert Import Export) there are other reviews that mirror mine. If you decide to buy from these guys, a mobile mechanic (like I hired) is not enough. Make sure to take it to a mechanic and pay for a full diagnostic. It will cost you a few hundred dollars but it may save you from the type of major bills some of their other customers (including myself) had to pay to fix a highly problematic car. read more

Definitely read the reviews before wasting your time and money here. They sold us a car with a multitude of problems that was, according to them, in great condition. Not only did they erase the codes so we wouldn't notice, but then had the audacity to lie and insult my intelligence by saying that all it was was a loose gas cap issue. The car shook so hard while driving it there was just no way it was just that. We took the car back after only 3 days of having it, the owner was extremely rude and sexist by not taking the issue seriously from me, but seriously when I had my brother in law get involved. After doing what was instructed ( replacing the cap and waiting for the car to "recognize " the change) the issue became worse so BIL took the car back and had them take the car in for inspection, after the owner failed to call me back for an appointment when I had reached out a second time. Wasted more of my time taking the far back a third time at said appointment, where the owner clearly stated he would pay for the repairs, then lied and told the mechanic/ person who took the car to the mechanics that we would have to pay for the repairs. I had to have my BIL on speaker so he could listen in on the conversation. New deal was that if it was just a spark plug issue, hed take care of it. Needless to say, it wasnt just spark plugs . It didnt end there, but thats enough of a review Id say. Now I'm stuck with this car , thats barely functioning after I had another mechanic confirm all its other issues, and now having to invest more money into its repairs. First of all I don't like giving bad reviews but this needs to be said because I really got hurt financially from Desert Auto Dealer. When inquiring about a used car to buy Avi at Desert Auto Dealer told me he pays $250 and has his cars he buys at auction checked out and inspected and he does not buy junk, his words. Based on that I believed this guy Avi and did not get an inspection of the vehicle I was purchasing. Turns out to be a BIG COSTLY MISTAKE for me. I bought from Avi & Fadi a 2012 Mercedes E550 Cabriolet trusting that the car checked out no big issues but knowing of course it is used and used cars will have problems down the road especially one that is 9 years old and I accept that. I paid in cash $26,800.13 for this 2012 Mercedes E550 Cabriolet. After the transaction I got in the car to drive it home but the A/C was blowing hot air. They said they would fix it or as they said they would 'service it' (They kept the car for two 2 days after I paid them for it and squirted $40 worth of Freon in it). Had to call them as nobody called me to say it was ready and come pick up the car (probably because they already had my cash) When I returned it was blowing cold and was told it was fixed so drove my new Used car home. So exciting... The next day I see Freon all over the garage floor and again A/C was blowing Hot Air. So disappointing... I'd call that putting 'Lipstick on a Pig' - They fixed nothing. They made it all pretty with the Lipstick but turns out it was still a Pig only squirting Freon into the A/C to get me off their lot. I called an independent mechanic I had used before and took it in to be checked out. The mechanic did an inspection of the 2012 Mercedes E550. I am still sick to my stomach and in shock as I was quoted over $7000 in repairs would be needed to bring this car back to drivable. So many deferred maintenance items needed (as of today this mechanic has had this Mercedes for 14 days and still repairing things, I haven't even gotten to drive the car yet except to go to my home and the mechanic's shop) ... Things needed that Avi at Desert Auto Dealer said he got checked out by his mechanic before my purchase any mechanic would be able to see these items are Bad- =Brakes Rotors Bad, felt a bit of chattering on test drive but driving home brakes rotors chattered really bad and hard to even hold my foot on brake. =A/C Compressor Hose Leaked Freon and Bad, =Switch on Center Console to control Nav Radio etc Bad, =Motor Mounts worn out and Bad, =Front Control Arms worn out and Bad, =1 of the 4 Turbo Lines Leaks and is Bad, =B Service of Vehicle needed in 14 days (I expected to pay for this). and some other stuff- =Both Front Electronic Struts blown out and Bad (over $2k to replace) What a disappointment that over $7000 would be needed to repair this car back to drivable. So it appears Desert Auto Dealer does sell junk and will lie to you about it. Just beware when you walk in this dealership as they are not your friend. Possibly as close as it gets to being Snakes out to get the cash out of your wallet. Was so excited to get into this Mercedes E550 Cabriolet, my Palm Springs Ride. Really wanted this to be a great fun and have an exciting car buying experiance and own a new but used fun convertable car. Turns out this transaction just left a pit in my stomach and lots of cash out of my wallet. "My Bad" as they say. I should have not trusted anyone with words that say "I don't buy junk and I get the cars I buy from auction checked out"... Buyer's Beware ... it's probably best to go to another dealer that is a bit more reputable as I found these guys are not reputable at all. Please Note: This is Only My Opinion as I am sure some people did not get stung like I did when buying a car at Desert Auto Dealer. I just got stung so buyer beware... Maybe once the over $7000 is paid for the repairs of this new used car purchase and I get the car back from the mechanic who is fixing it the pit in my stomach will go away. Found out last week the A/C Condenser Core located in the dash needs replacing so over 10 hours of labor and the whole dash needs to be disassembled. Also was told the radiator has a crack in it and it too needs replaced. Now up to over $8700 in repairs needed to make this car driveable. I notified Avi also Fadi at Desert Auto Dealer of this horrible experiance I am having with repair for a car I paid them in Cash $26800.13. I told Avi that he lied to me about having his cars inspected he buys from auction also it needs about $8700 in repairs and that I believed him to be a dishonest man for selling Junk Cars he says were inspected. He then sent me a text he's been selling cars for 15 years and to quit harassing him probably knowing he lied & he does sell junk cars to customers just to make a buck... This was simply a phone call asking about financing option as I am a disabled veteran. When it got to down payment discussion he became pushy. I decided I got all the info I needed I ask if he had any more to pitch , he said no and I said goodbye......he followed that up with "go fuck yourself" then the phone hung up. I called back and got Avi again "he had previously introduced himself as such" he now claimed that I had spoke with "Bob" and "Bob" did no such thing. After that I hung up and have received many texts from Avi claiming to"know nothing." Avi Turjeman should be real proud of being such an awful person...I hope he finds a way to become a better one. I bought a 2016 Mercedes E400 for my daughter, who lives in the SF Bay Area, while she was visiting me for the weekend. We were aware that the Aux Battery needed replaced and Fadi suggested we bring it back in the next day to have that replaced. So I did. The car was there all day with no calls to follow up on the progress. When I called at 5pm he said we could pick it up in an hour. So we did. Nothing had been done what-so-ever. Except, NOW, her convertable top won't work on in addition to her dash components! I followed up the next morning (the morning my daughter was taking off back home). We discussed several options and came to a resolve that I would buy the battery and he would reimburse me.. After we hung up I received a text from him, he said he had ordered the aux battery and it would be there really soon. I replied with confusion and asked if he ordered the part or did I need to. He confirmed that he ordered it already and he should have it very soon. After not hearing from him in a couple days I decide to text him. he said he had canceled the order because I told him I would buy it. Im thinking, 1st of all thats a flat out lie! Secondly, the amount of money I gave him to purchase the car should have enough to receive a safe car that is fully functional. Im remembering the promise he made to replace the battery the day of purchase. Now I'm just angry for the run around hes put me through in trying to get the issue fixed (which it still is not) and for his blatent dishonesty. The purchase price was $30,000+ so we aren't talking just a little bit of money here. Everything on this vehicle should be working for that amount. Today my daughter calls and asks where she might find the key for the locking lug nuts, it wasn't in her car. I immediately text Fadi to see what he plans to do about these issues and have not gotten any reply from him. Its been a couple of hours since my text. I dont figure he's gonna reply since he replied so quickly in the past. He deals in big money cars. He's even got 2 Bentlys. I was fooled by those Bentlys. Thinking he is an honest man running an honest business. Man was I wrong! I'm am always willing to work with people who intend on making their wrongdoings right. They were rude and seemed annoyed to talk to me when I called to ask what could be done. Then to top it off I initially paid 250$ for a full registration and only ended up getting a titletransfer that would be expired in 2 months to which only costed them 37$ at the dmv. They were rude and Avi tried telling me it's "because that's when they expire."
