After receiving no answer and the appointment time had passed, I called and left a voice mail message. Health came out to repair my Hunter Douglas blinds that were about 12 years old, and they would not stay open when pulled. Heath had called and was later in the day in the day due to an install in Gilbert he did that day. He did not the proper parts to do the repairs at that time, but came back the next day. He worked on the first blind, however, the new part was defective, so he redid that repair. He ended up repairing seven of my blinds. The repair was not just a " put in a part". The repair was quite involved for each blind. He worked quickly and carefully respectful of the house. He checked all my blinds and confirmed which blinds did not need to be repaired. Very odd. I called and spoke to Heath. He seemed cheerful and pleased to do the work when I spoke to him. I told him I was showing my house for sale and needed some slats repaired ASAP. He gave me a date and a window of time that was quite a ways away, but what the heck, it would get the shutters repaired within my time period with a couple of days to spare.. First, He was 3 hours late. 3 hours past the WINDOW I had already been given. Yikes. Moving past that, he didn't come prepared to do any work-what the HELL?? He took a slat, told me he'd have to come back, started talking some crap about how he normally charges a $50 service call but he wasn't going to charge me that because he was late...gave me a GIGANTIC quote, and I've never heard back from him. Mind you, when I made the appointment for him to come and repair the shutters, there was zero mention of a service call-but I didn't say one single word about it. Why should I? He was waving this invisible fee anyway IT'S BEEN A MONTH. Nothing. ZERO. Not a peep out of him. ONE MONTH! Well, he missed out. While dusting a shutter, a slat broke and since I had no idea how to fix it I decided it was time to find a pro to help. I had some needed repairs on other window treatments to be done, so I started looking. I found Desert Blind and Shutter through Yelp and called based on his reviews and I am pleased to say, they are true. I called on May 4th and left a voice message with Heath, who returned the call within the hour. He was unavailable until May 19, which was fine, so we booked for today. He called this morning and gave me a window between 12-3 and said he'd text when he was on his way. He texted at 11:50 am and was here by 12pm. Now, I really thought he was going to take the window treatments down to fix them, as has been done before, so when he looked at everything I needed, quoted me a price and got right to work, I have to say I was pretty happy. I also thought his prices were more than fair-too fair-for the work he actually did so we gave a little extra. He deserves it. The four things I needed done were fixed in less than an hour; there was no garbage, no furniture out of place, nothing but beautifully fixed blinds and a shutter to tell that Heath had been there. I was very impressed with the owner, Heath, who came out to my new home. The previous owners had shutters installed. The problem I had was that the shutter was installed backwards on the door so when I opened the shutter up, it covered the door knob. Weird, right? Well, that company is out of business so I called Desert Blind and Shutter Repair. Heath was very honest and explained that if I had it switched, there would be certain flaws. Very pleased with the quality and care Heath and his partner Bill did with my shutters. I had some broken and damaged shutters as well as different colored ones. They helped repair all of them, paint and fix them all as well re-install and quality work at a fantastic price. Other companies wanted to replace for thousands upon thousands.
