Well this is not an easy business dealing with a wide range of animals, crazy animal owners, but the business owners seem to be doing their best. We mainly use Desert Feed Bag for raw pet food but it has been hit and miss for inventory. In the past there as no need to pre order product but they have dropped two of the brands so difficult to break the news to our animals. Pricing always has seemed fair as has the store staff, everyone here his very cool and well informed. We will continue to support this store but will be buying our raw diet products online for a while. read more

UNUSUAL STORE ALERT I went inside this store, expecting things to be unusual but I had no idea how unusual ... As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a squawking rooster, strutting his stuff in a caged area right on the showroom floor. Who needs window displays when you can have chickens on full display? Talk about convenience - pick up your chicken and animal food in one go ! But wait, there's more! As I made my way through the store my eyes got bigger and bigger and BIGGER.... They had goat feed, pig feed, and even llama feed. I mean, talk about catering to every farm animal's dietary needs. And if that wasn't enough, they had live parakeets and other colorful birds, fluttering around in their own designated cages in the store. It was like stepping into a miniature zoo, minus the elephants and lions. But the real showstoppers were the adorable baby chicks, hopping and chirping about with a nice sized "pond" at their disposal..... They were the stars of the show, stealing the hearts of anyone who laid eyes on them. I wanted to buy one... but alas (!)... no place to put it.... I actually love the TikTok Channels that have ostrich, peacocks and baby chicks in them... very entertaining read more

I wanted to give a shout out to Desert Feed Bag. I bought two flakes of Orchard hay for my rabbit. I found out from reliable sources that Orchard wasn't good for my 11 year old bunny. I took it back and Jodie(owner) immediately exchanged it for Timothy. When I got home I gave some to the bunny and she wouldn't eat it. It was course and brown. I called Jodie and told her and she told me to bring it back. When I got there she had a bale of green Timothy hay waiting. She had the guys put the flakes in a bag for me and off I went. This shop is true to a Feed and Fuel, and is the right place to be situated, in the Coachella/Indio area. If you have farm animals this is the place to shop. In addition they carry domestic animal feed (dog and cat). They were very helpful directing me to the correct antibiotic to give to my pup with a tooth infection. The vet woukd gave been $75 to walk into the office, $300 for blood workup and $65 for the antibiotic. The antibiotic cost me $15! I was given the best customer service today. My son's truck broke down in the parking lot on his way to pick up a few bails of hay for my horse ( who is completely spoiled by all the variety of goodies a horse could ever want in one little store). My son babied his truck to hwy 111 to ,Xcess auto sales' while they were still open (a friend owns it and is holding his truck there for now). This all happened at about 5:50 and the feed bag closes at 6. Now- I'm out of hay so I had to drive like a wild woman to get there before they close in my beautiful Toyota Sequoia and then haul 2 bails of messy hay in it. I had to do this once before and the mess was unreal. I was telling the gentlemen at the store about my luck and how I get to vacuum for the next 3 weeks all over again.... He wrapped each bail of hay (2) in a giant black trash bag. He took his time to do it and it was HOT, the a.c. was only 'ok' and we were in the back where the big side door was open. I sure wish I had employees that good! There is a reason I buy from the guys at Desert Feed Bag, it is because of the wonderful family atmosphere they have there that is created by their employees. The employees all work together. It says a lot. We can tell they care. They remember me too and are always happy to see me and help me find something. They never look disappointed when they find out we just ordered a bunch of hay they get to go lift in the heat. . Thanks for having an employee that recognises that although it was a small added expense to the sale, it will ensure that I always come back and send you more of my friends. Desert Feed Bag is excellent! Ended up falling in love with a puppy on vacation and needed all of the gear to bring him back on the long journey home to Northern California. Went to a chain store but they were 1) not very helpful or friendly, 2) over priced and 3) didn't have the specialty food my pup was accustomed to. Desert Feed had everything we needed, priced fairly, and an enormous amount of helpful hospitality. Extra bonus on the bunnies and chicks. Worth a stop in for that and ice cream. After hearing wonderful things about this place we decided to go check it out and let me tell you, we Loved it. The lady that help us out took her time explaining about the bands they carry there. I loved the fact that even though it was our first time ever stepping foot in that store they made us feel like family that they care about the health of our 2 Pomeranians.
