We had an alarming a devastated experience at the Village PUP and People need to know what a terrible place this is. After going there for at least a year we were away for awhile and when we took Coco back they now say she is an aggressive dog - a 14Pound CAvaPoo who does not have an aggressive bone in her body. Following the meet and great we had already made an appointment for her with the Groomer and we could not cancel. We gave the Groomer explicit instructions to not cut her short or shave her. We only wanted a light trim and grooming. We were appalled when we went to pick her up to find that all of her beautiful coat was shaved down to her skin, including her ears, and it was awful. No question but that the Groomer did what she wanted to get Coco out of there! Our poor girl now just hides under the bed after this very traumatic experience. Clearly this was an issue of retribution by the staff at the Village Pup!!! read more

I have taken my pups here to try to socialize them for daycare. The staff is fantastic at tailoring their experience based on the dogs' reactions and not over-stress them. We are making progress; one of mine is eight years old and inexperienced with interacting with other dogs. I've never been a fan of dog parks due to the mixing of different-sized animals and not knowing if they are vaccinated. I've also used them for grooming, and both times, I have had a short wait time for appointments. And again, the staff is more concerned about the animal's well-being, and I have been delighted. read more

We have a pug puppy (one year old) who has been going to the Pup for day care (play time), grooming, thorough professional dog training with Jerid and also sleep overs when we are out of town. Our puppy LOVES and thrives in all areas that they provide. The whole staff are so kind and genuinely care about our baby. I HIGHLY recommend all the services. The dog training is a MUST. Wow. My dog Champ had the absolute best doggie day in La Quinta's day-care facility. He is a White German Shepherd Dog; he is also large and serves as my guard dog (a job which he takes very seriously!). Because of this, I was very nervous about his behavior around other dogs, especially in a fun and playful setting. I should have saved my worry! Champ had the best Wet Wednesday at the La Quinta facility and seemed to be warm with the workers at the location. They are wonderful and amazing in their patience and care. No where in their website does it say that peel off vaccinations aren't accepted. Decided to vaccinate my pup with a vaccination I purchased at tractor supply because vet time appointments were insane and I needed this done within 2 weeks. I called my vet office and they gave me the green light to buy them at tractor supply and administer myself. This place said they would call me back with the owners decision on allowing my dog into day care or not. Didn't receive a follow up call. Called a different dog day care and they accepted my vaccinations. unhappy with their customer service. read more

Last Saturday I had a grooming appointment for my three dogs, after about 45 min. they called me telling me that one of my dogs had "ringworm." When I got there they brought my dogs out and continued to tell me that one of my dogs had ringworm and that the other two had been infected. I left and called the vet to make an appointment. After speaking to the vet, he told me that my dogs did not have ringworm. I just spoke to Kay who reported to me that she was the manager. I told her that I was very upset about the groomer diagnosing ringworm on my dogs when she in fact is not a vet, and that she was practicing veterinary without a license. The manager started to make excuses, one after the next. Then I still wanted to come for my dogs grooming and she had to give me an appointment 3 weeks out because everybody was in town and they were very busy. Never mind I'm a year round customer. When she gives me the appointment, she gives me a different time of what I normally have. I asked for the same time I have always asked for and now she tells me that I have to come 4 weeks out at least. I then told her that she was no help and that I rather speak to somebody else. At this point she says to me "I'm sorry but I will have to talk to you later because we cannot talk to you when you're upset" and she hung up on me. All this because I complained about a groomer practicing veterinary without a license. I'm sure the Department of Consumer Affairs will find this very interesting. read more

They remembered my pups name from her first visit and couldn't be more serious about their jobs if they were caring for children. This is a long very happy story! My husband and I got a new puppy right around Thanksgiving! Her name is Lucy and she weighed 4.5 lbs! She was and is the cutest most beautiful puppy you have ever seen. We soon leaned we were in over our heads and really needed some help with her. We had scratches and baby teeth cuts all over our arms. We are seniors so you can only imagine what we looked like especially me. We really should have taken out stock in a bandage company. We took her into the groomer to have her nails cut and she suggested we take her to The Village Pup in Palm Desert and that we might consider Mark the trainer at The Village Pup in La Quinta. Once she was all good with shots we took her to Palm Desert for a meet and greet and she passed! Lucy going to daycare gave us a much need break. Yahoo! Now we were ready for some training. We went to La Quinta and did a meet and great signed up for training and she got started. We met her trainer Mark and right away new we were in good hands! She trained 4 days a week for a month and we know have a GREAT puppy! She is recall and off leash trained, walks really well on her leash with out pulling and so much more. She has wonderful manners! Does not jump, steal everything any more and uses her crate. We are so grateful we found Mark and the Village Pup! Now we are working toward getting her certificate as a Therapy Dog! If you need training, day care, boarding or grooming this is absolutely the right place! We take Lucy about once a week for daycare. There staff are so good she comes home manners refreshed, tired and ready for a nap. We have boarded her at La Quinta and they take such good care. Someone is always with them so we feel good and know she alway safe. We can't say enough good things about the staff and their skills! We really recommend The Village Pup in La Quinta! Let me start by talking about the people who work here. The owners and all the employees are excellent with your pup! You wouldn't do this job if you didn't have passion for it. They are knowledgeable and take the time to make sure you know everything you need to know about the service your pup is getting. I first started taking my boy here for daycare so he could be socialized. He loved going in and hanging out with all his new friends. Plus he was mellowed out by the time I got him home. Next, Zeus was part of their training program. I chose the one where he stays for a few weeks overnight and is trained in the day. I hated to leave him, but I knew it was for his own benefit! They were sweet enough to send me pictures and messages during the day because it's so hard to be without your puppy. They did an excellent job training my little goober. He still knows all his commands 5 months later. I decided not to have him neutered, so he is not going to daycare anymore, but now he's getting groomed here! This was the first time I took him there for grooming. He came out a whole new dog! They did such an excellent job. Zeus will definitely be coming back. read more

I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for everyone at The Village Pup! I have two Boston Terriers and one Australian Shepherd that have been clients of The Village Pup for some time now. Cinnamon, my Australian Shepherd, is now 1 1/2 years and she started the 5-week dog training with Marc at 6 months of age. Cinnamon's training has been life changing. The results were immediate, and she continues to flourish over time. I am able to walk Cinnamon off-leash, visit dog beaches, the local sand dunes and parks and trust in her recall in coming back to me. Cookie, one of my Boston Terriers, received some training as well and she too has been able to enjoy her life with more freedom. I truly have well behaved, happy, friendly dogs that are able to meet and socialize well with other dogs. I have The Village Pup staff to thank for always being there to take in my dogs for daycare and overnights whenever needed. K and Marc have been so supportive to my household and the front staff is always so cheerful and caring. Marc is the best! The facility is spotless, the staff caring and knowledgeable, and my Yorkie came out looking cuter than ever! It's fun to watch my dog on the "doggie cams" while he is there. A get acquainted visit is required and that impressed me. Yes, my TWO month year old PUPPY got turned away for being "a bully breed"? She is literally just a mutt. She is a labrador mix. So apparently, the Village "Pup" doesn't accept puppies, mutts, or anything except tea cup sized pure breeds, so if that's not you- don't waste your time, go somewhere else. Dog discrimination is real yall, and places like this don't deserve a title as a facility that takes care of dogs, they obviously aren't in it for the right reasons. We learned about Village Pup thru a dog friend. We took our young lab there and he had some behavioral problems of being too aggressive with other dogs in the yard. We worked with him at home and he improved so he could be back with his friends. Well he need more training than what we did. Mark the trainer at the Pup came up with a program that took our spirited lab and gave him good discipline that has made him a well mannered pup. He now goes to "camp" as we call it when we have busy days and he loves it. He runs in and interacts with the whole population with good manners.
