To all Customers trying to get a loan or HELOC. They do not know what they are doing, and do not know their guidelines. Ask to speak to The manager upfront if in doubt- NOT the sales assistant for clarity. They take the application, tell clients they are approved and then 2.5 weeks later- deny clients. Then they send a bogus denial letter that has nothing to do with the real reason they deny the clients. I will never refer anymore deals to them! Stay away from Ahwatukee branch. read more

Very good customer service and very efficient. My car payment is through this credit union and my dad banked here when he was still alive. He always told me how good the customer service is and I have seen it for myself. Plus they were helpful to my brother and I upon closing out Dad's account when he passed away. I do not suggest this place at all. I am not a person to leave bad reviews. But I was very disappointed in the service that this bank provides. This business is unorganized and has no clear customer values. I do not feel like my money is safe and had such a hassle at the ATM. Absolutely inconvenient and disappointing. I am pulling out my money asap and will be leaving this bank shortly. Hopefully the next bank will let me withdrawal the money that I grind for. read more

They send credit card approval offers just to deny you when you apply. They're a joke!

We have banked with DFCU for several years and never had an issue. This last year has been something different. This first incident happened around July '20. I went to the branch in Ahwatukee to do some business. After we left I went into a store next to the bank. Upon leaving that store I noticed a women on her phone, hood up on her car and she was obviouslynot having a good day. I watched for a few seconds and asked if I could help. She stated she went into the bank and when she came out her car was dead. As I was helping her she stated that she had went back into the bank to make a call to get help and was kicked out. Yes COVID is/was going on but that was not an excuse for making someone stand in the 116 degree heat of Arizona. One women that worked there that was walking in saw us and brought us water, but that did not ease the ladies stress. About a month after that I went in to deposit a money order. Ever since they have updated there system when I try to use the mobile ap to deposit a money order half of the time it does not work. The closest branch to me is the Ahwatukee branch, an hour away. I went in and there was a lady sitting at the door and she asked what I needed, I told her that all I needed to do was deposit a check. She stated that it was the elderly banking hours and I could not come in, There was only 1 lady in there and she was leaving. I explained that because their ap failed I had to drive up there to deposit the check. I was told to come back 1 hour later. Overall, a nice branch. The only drawbacks are that there's no drive-thru and the parking lot is congested. Everyone working at this branch seem really friendly and are helpful. The facilities inside are nice and clean. read more

I have used this credit union for over seven years. They tell you all the fees upfront and how to avoid them. Most people giving lower stars are the ones who spend until their balance is nil then get mad when fees accrue. I have never had an issue with any management staff. They are always friendly. Btw, people posting here. This is the Tempe/Ahwatukee branch. I highly doubt posters with cities other than those two come to this location. read more

Do NOT get Raechel as a teller she is slow. Painfully slow. It took her 15 minutes to do a 1500 deposit that i counted and turned. AND THEN spoke to me as if i didnt know what i was doing when i do the same thing weekly. read more

Terrible customer service. Very slow. I absolutely hate dealing with this bank, especially this branch, but my auto loan is through them. Unless you're stuck with them for an auto loan go to Wells Fargo, they have exponentially better customer service. The Desert Schools online banking is primitive and the customer support over the phone is a joke. You're out of luck if you need something outside regular business hours. Go elsewhere if you can! They will make you wait 45+ minutes to do something simple like provide insurance for your auto loan. read more

Went in to pay off a loan via shared branching. Needed to have them fax confirmation of cash payment to my credit union to expedite a title release. I've now called five times and still not had the confirmation sent to the proper receiving party. When I called the fifth time, I reached a central hub and spoke with an extremely rude female who hung up on me when I requested to be transferred to someone at the specific branch I'd gone to earlier in the day. Long story short: I will NEVER do business with this institution again. I know financial institutions are notorious for bad customer service, and I've dealt with my fair share of banks and credit unions in the past; this one takes the cake for absolute worst customer service. read more

They get a 3 for the branch and a 5 for device and ease. The branch didn't have paperwork ready at the appointment time for signing so we had to wait an extra 30 min. However, the loan process and ease of it was great. Awesome rates too! read more

When I get a document notarized at the credit union for free, then take it to my office, stupidly fax it to the wrong number by not adding a "9" at the start only to get a call an hour later from the bank employee who notarized it telling me that the person who received it in error had called her to let her know some numbskull was faxing important-looking legal documents to him by mistake, and does it all with a maximum of cheerfulness and forbearance. . . that's service. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE WAS THE WORST PEOPLE IVE EVER TALKED TO IN MY LIFE.... Worst bank I've ever had to deal with... I called to get business account number, simple task, after numerous attempts of having to hang up and call back, they finally gave me a number, the WRONG number on purpose after we exchanged words.... That's got to be illegal and she needs to be fired. Then she even has the nerve to freeze my account while I'm out of town and can't go into a branch when they're clearly in the wrong.. I had my auto loan with them ~ paid faithfully on time, for 3 years. When I went to them for help, to get out of my very expensive car, they declined me getting a new car loan, even though I paid them on time for 3 years ~ banker never followed up with me, twice, when he said he would.. I finally had to call the Branch Manager, to find out what was going on..because my credit score slipped slightly, they refused to help..REALLY? After I paid you, on time, for 3 years? I went elsewhere, got a new auto, & auto loan immediately, paid these idiots off, & I will never, ever set foot in one of their branches again..ever...poor, poor follow up, rude employees..they're all idiots..never again.. read more

Coming to this branch is worse than going to the dentist. Customer service is awful. Wait time for the simplest thing is rediculous. The obviously enjoy each other more than helping customers as I honestly waited 5 minutes for a conversation between two employees to end before they would even acknowledge me. I miss the branch they used to have in Walmart off Elliot. Ruins my whole day when I have to come here. read more

I have been with Desert School CU for almost 10 years now and never realized what horrible customer service they provided. I live in CO now and still continued to conduct my banking with them because I'd never had a serious problem before. The minute I have a pressing issue involving $100.00 that was debited from my account without my authorization, the Credit Union refused to help me. When I requested to escalate the situation to a supervisor, the telephone banker hung up on me. I'm finished with the unprofessionalism and lack of customer service I've been experiencing with them. There are better Credit Unions that actually respect and value their members and understand that a happy customer equals a happy credit union. These people make me sick. They hold my direct deposit payroll checks for up to 14 days!!!! I set up my bills to auto-deduct when my check will be deposited. Said I wanted NO overdraft protection. They hold my check, bills get paid and bam I'm hit with $300 in overdraft fees? Are you serious? My money disappears, has not shown in my account for days, shows (-) balance when I know I have money, go down to talk to them and they said, looks good on our side you must have read it wrong. I know how to read a statement you ignoramous. Way to make your customers uncomfortable, awkward and angry. Everyone in there is rude, looks down on you and so incredibly unhelpful. I heard great things about them, and never in my life have I had a worse experience. I have banked with Chase, Wells Fargo, TruWest, BOA and desert schools. Never again would I put anyone in their hands. Unless you don't want access to your money, people to look at you like you are garbage, not respond to phone calls or e-mails, and hold your check so they can charge you insane amount in overdraft fees because they won't release your own money to you. read more
