We began by ripping out existing plants, pavers, brown gravel, and artificial turf for both a putting green and a general use area. We started by building a pool (a cheap plug for Dolphin Pools who did an amazing job). After the pool was completed, the second half of the project was ready to begin. This is where Colorworks stepped up to the plate. I could not begin this without mentioning one of the owners, "Jon Hammel". Colorworks Landscape Design, Inc. received rave reviews on Google and Yelp, so we reached out and were promptly scheduled for a complimentary estimate. Upon Jon's arrival, I could sense his excitement and creativity as he envisioned transforming our dream backyard into the upgraded space we desired. Although we had a plan in place, Jon skillfully incorporated his unique ideas, resulting in a comprehensive rendering of the project. We were immediately convinced that Colorworks was the ideal choice for our project. What truly set Jon apart was his unwavering honesty and thoughtful approach to refining our existing plan, ensuring that it reached its full potential. I want to clearly state that there are many stages to such a massive project. There are always going to be delays, and we had a few. Additional parts needed to be ordered, and of course, the weather did not always agree (lots of rain). Since our backyard is not the largest, every inch of the project required attention, and Jon fully comprehended that. The project included 3 large retaining walls, 164 Sq ft. of pearlescent travertine, 18 Indian laurel ficus trees with 6 tons of topsoil, 450 sq ft. of Daytona 80 0z turf, 4 stoned columns on a pergola, a wood accent backdrop for pots, and white rocks. This also included taping into existing irrigation drip, electrical lines, and reusing leftover pavers in other areas. Jon (along with our ideas) was the brains of the project, but Cesar Aldama is the contractor who brought it all together. Cesar, along with Ginato, is an excellent team. They showed up on time and worked tirelessly each day, and consistently cleaned up before they left. They always treated our home with respect, and we couldn't help but notice. Cesar is an expert in construction projects and possesses extensive knowledge in the field. My wife, being meticulous and OCD, wanted perfection in the job. Cesar meticulously coordinated with us on every aspect of the project, providing valuable advice on what could and couldn't be done. He is truly an artist, and we couldn't thank him and Ginato enough. The straightforward truth is that Colorworks fulfilled their promise! I can't forget to mention other members of the team that did amazing work: Jeff (owner), Mark, Manny (Turf installer and his awesome crew). They did an extensive front area remodel --4100 square feet of pavers for a circular drive, re-designed the front hill by removing 20 tons of dirt and old plants, added a river bed, replaced all the granite, installed new lighting and watering system, added new plants, built stone accent walls and the list goes on. Once you give Sean a deposit and you agree on the work, he gives you a firm start and end date. Taking into account weather delays, the schedule is right on target. Our project encountered one entire week of rain but the crew worked through it (6 days a week, 7-5) and finished the project within only a few extra days from the original end date. The crew was timely, professional, pleasant and easy to deal with. If we ever had questions or needed to reach Sean, we received a return call, text or email within minutes. Having lived in Arizona for almost 50 years and dealing with many contractors, we can honestly say that Sean and Envirogreen Landscaping are the only contractors that we do not have one complaint to express. They were awesome! As a side note, Sean and Envirogreen did a major project for our community about 5 years ago. Many of his workers are still with Envirogreen which says volumes! I interviewed several companies for our complete backyard remodel, and it was apparent from the beginning that Sean was the best. He came up with a creative design for our backyard that provided more privacy; an entertainment space with a bar, tv, fire pit; and an outdoor kitchen. He asks questions to understand what your needs are and how you envision yourself using your yard to come up with a 3-D rendering of your ideal space. Sean has an eye for design and thinks of the big picture and the small details. We had to wait several months for the crew to start, but in my mind that was a good sign that Envirogreen was well sought after. They were worth the wait! Envirogreen has their own crews, instead of a bunch of subcontractors. Their crew, led by Abraham, was punctual, reliable, and hardworking. They showed up 5-6 days a week and worked long days until our project was complete. This kind of work ethic and reliability is so rare these days. Sean communicated with us throughout the entire process and his insights allowed us to make some decisions to improve the original plan as needed (i.e.- installed one bigger propane tank to serve our smoker, grill, fire pit, and indoor stove instead of added another smaller one). Envirogreen does good quality work, and we are very happy with the results! When we are ready to have work done on our front yard, we will be calling Envirogreen again!

If you buy here, make sure you get clear accountability on who is responsible for installation behavior, escalation, and completion, because that part was unacceptable.

We used JNK for a minor project two years ago, and Naji and the crew were superb: they showed up on time, worked diligently to finish the project in a professional manner, and brought a remarkable attention to detail to their work. Therefore, we chose them again for this much larger project, and I'm pleased to say they exceeded our expectations in every way. Naji arrived to discuss the project, and based on our conversations with him, was well-prepared to discuss options. He is a deeply knowledgeable person who is personable, professional, and truly customer-focused. The crew showed up right on time, and the point person on the job, Joaquin, explained the process of removing sod and dirt and installing the pavers--over 1,000 of them. They hand-measured and hand-cut the pavers that created the circular mesa around each tree--they look exquisite. It was a crew of seven, who were perfectly coordinated, worked well together, and hustled to get the job done in the promised timeframe--one day, which astonished my wife and me. Because the job required cutting a number of pavers there was quite a bit of brick dust. After completion, Joaquin used the hose to meticulously spray off all of our trees, shrubs, and all of the rock, to make it look pristine--that's going the extra mile! You can evaluate other companies, but if you want exceptional quality, attention to detail, honesty, and integrity, I recommend JNK without exception or qualification. Service-communication: very good. My main contact was James. Took a lot of time with us. We were going from scratch, so it took a while for us to figure out what we wanted. Plus, had to get HOA approval for a pergola - never fun, but finally got through that. Second contact was Ali toward the end with the irrigation and plants. Easy to deal with. Once the contract was signed, they indicated 2-3 weeks to begin, and that was accurate. Supply delivery began about five days prior to commencing work. The initial crew wasted no time getting to work. They kept the premises clean. Everyone professional. Quality: All I can say, is so far so good! Nice paver work, Pergola looks great. Electrical all appears properly done. Turf looks great. We are very happy with the results. Everyone cleaned up after themselves. Delays: none of any consequence. Toward the end, had to wait for the pergola parts to arrive. About three weeks to complete entire job.

Jake was easy to work with, easy to reach, and provided guidance along the way. When other companies were slow or difficult to reach with questions (e.g. paver sizes and pricing), Jake would have an answer in minutes. His business partner was also hands-on and helped with new electrical in the backyard as well. The only thing that wasn't as expected was that they actually finished early. Highly recommend.

Shocked at the scam they are doing. They charge $100 to come out to give you an estimate... you agree to that, because they are licensed and have great reviews, so you think "they must be honest and good"...but then the bait and switch happens. They tell me I have to put a $450+ part on my house, or they won't warranty ANY work...at all! YES, a licensed company who will NOT warranty their work unless you pay them $450 to do work that you DO NOT WANT OR NEED! THAT IS THE SCAM! SO ...I had to either pay them $450 for nothing or give them $100 for nothing. That was my ONLY 2 choices.... neither were good. I am an honest person, and I agreed to pay them $100 for the estimate...but I did NOT agree to be held hostage and manipulated. But I thought...well, they are a licensed company, they must be good at what they do, right? WRONG! Since I felt pressured and my back was against the wall, I paid them almost $700 to replace some and put in some new valves. 1 was leaking, 1 was added, 3 were not leaking and had NO problem. I wanted the 3 NOT leaking and NO problem valves replaced so they would NOT be a problem in the future. They were 4 years old, and I did not want to have to deal with any issue or have ANY leaks for years! So I paid them to replace the NON leaking items....low and behold 9 months later, I decided to check the pipes (the only ones I could see, God only knows what the pipes are doing that I can't see!), and the pipe they put in to fix the NON leaking valve is leaking! How long? It had not even been a year! How do landscape professionals not know how to glue a pipe? How many pipes are all their customers who gave the 5 star reviews leaking, and NO ONE knows? This is another problem....they put the pipes in the ground and cover them up IMMEDIATELY so you will NEVER know they are leaking! I asked them not to so we could confirm they were not leaking during the work, and they got abusive and rude and did it anyway. THEY DO NOT CHECK FOR LEAKS, THEY DO NOT DO DUE DILIGENCE TO INSURE THEIR WORK IS DONE CORRECTLY, AND THEY DO NOT HONOR OR LISTEN TO THE HOME OWNER WHEN THEY DO THE WORK. I contracted with them to do a certain job, but when they were doing it, they did NOT do what I had asked, they did what THEY wanted to do, and did what ever was easier and quicker for them. I had to FIGHT them every minute. If you have a clue, and if you hire them....you HAD BETTER WATCH THEM EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, as they are going to do the easiest work they can, THEY WILL NOT CONFIRM IF THE PIPES THEY PUT IN THE GROUND LEAK, AND YOU WILL NEVER KNOW IF THEY ARE LEAKING, BECAUSE THEY ARE COVERED! I kept telling them to do this, and they kept NOT doing it! It was a horrible fight, and they did NOT care or do as I asked! Let's talk about their estimate...they don't give it to you....they put it on their IPAD and you don't get to see it. They tell you how much, and you have to decided RIGHT THERE! You don't even get to SEE it!! You have to make a decision without SEEING ANYTHING and you have to pay them $100 to NOT hire them, OR you have to give them 50% deposit on the spot. YOU SEE NOTHING PRIOR TO PAYING.... (you will get an email hours later after you pay!!) So what happened after they blackmailed me ...$100 or $450.... and I fell for it....well, they replaced 3 valves that were not leaking...well less than a year later I discovered they are ALL Leaking! YES, ALL OF THEM! Are you able to dig up the pipes you are paying them to lay and checking for leaks? IF they screw up and 100% of the pipes they replace for me that were NOT leaking when I asked them to replace them, and they are ALL leaking, how many of your pipes you have them lay/replace, are leaking in your home, or will leak just MONTHS after you pay them to do them....and the best part is this....THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE/ FIX THE PIPES THEY THEY PUT IN FOR ALMOST $700 LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. THEY SAID NO...NOT THEIR PROBLEM! WHY....BECAUSE I REFUSED TO PAY THEM $450 TO PUT IN A PART THAT I DID NOT WANT OR NEED....THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PARTS THAT THEY DID! SCAM SCAM SCAM.... Pro Outdoor Services Review After buying our home in Scottsdale last year as a second home, we thought we could "live" with the poorly done outdoor BBQ/Bar/Fire-pit for periodic visits. But in May this year we decided to move here full time from Hawaii and knew this outdoor area was no longer livable. Having had Pro Outdoor Services install a misting system last year and found them to be very professional, cost sensitive with on time performance, we decided to go with them for creating a new outdoor entertainment area. I talked with Josh and he suggested several ideas. Then Shane and Jen came to review our area and made many suggestions that we'd not even thought about. From there the design ideas just kept getting better and better -- Josh came to do a drone video and then proceeded to build a virtual design for us. Visiting their office and actually walking thru the virtual design of their vision of what we could have made us decide to proceed. Today we have what could be viewed as a remarkable transformation! Juan's team built the BBQ Island, the Chiminea, and a stone walkway. The shade sail proved both color and cooling shade. Luxe Outdoor Environments recently completed a large project for us in Scottsdale. This included installing an irrigation system in the front and back yards; removing old turf, leveling portions of the back yard, and laying new turf; building a new concrete barrier around the grass area; and importing new granite. The finished project looks terrific! And Luxe Outdoor Environments provided great service. They scheduled the project around our needs. The crew was courteous, showed up and started work each morning at 7:00am just as promised, and cleaned up everything very well when they were done. They worked quickly and efficiently and completed the project as promised in four days. The project leader also explained the new irrigation system and sod maintenance requirements clearly. After 4 years living in the Scottsdale and Cave Creek areas, I finally found a reputable company which does great work at a reasonable price in a very timely manner. I received a proposal from Josh, the owner, on a Wednesday. The material was delivered Friday and by Sunday the job was completed. This was no small task and the crew went far beyond what was required and worked non stop until completion. Jose showed up on time was polite, informative and completed the work at a much lower price than I had anticipated. It can be difficult to find reliable, good companies but this is one of the best! They told us they were going to go home for the day, but after hearing what happened to us they couldn't just go home, how nice is that, now that is customer service! SO BEWARE IF THEY ARE THAT BAD AT SOMETHING SO TRIVIAL AS OPENING A IRRIGATION SYSTEM (WHICH THEY CHARGE MUCH MORE THEN VIP TO DO) IMAGINE WHAT THEY WILL DO WITH LANDSCAPING, I KNOW ONE THING, I WOULD NEVER TRUST A COMPANY THAT RUDE AND WITH SUCH BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Quick but not a job well done. i had them lay pavers for me next to my pool with gaps in between…read morefor turf. We laid out the design and decided on 3 in gaps between the pavers. The team knocked it out in 1.5 days which is great. Now that it's time to lay down the turf I'm having to spend a lot of extra time cutting turf to make it fit. I have 2.5 inch gaps, 2.75 inch gaps and of course a few 3 inch gaps. I guess I should have went out there with a tape measure to make sure it was getting done correctly but you pay for a service and expect it to be done the way you agreed upon. If you do use them just make sure you inspect everything along the way if you need a precision job done.
