These guys are clowns. At our first visit, the doctor decided to lecture us over the 5 mg of Trintellix my wife took during pregnancy and pushed for another anatomy scan despite everything looking completely normal. The tone was paternalistic and overbearing, with little interest in actual context. Then, when my wife was overdue and needed a biophysical profile to confirm the pregnancy was safe to continue, the office refused to schedule it unless she also did a growth ultrasound. Sounds reasonable until you learn their next available growth ultrasound was two weeks later--completely defeating the purpose. We asked to get the growth scan elsewhere and send the results. They refused. So effectively, their position was: wait until 43 weeks pregnant because "that's our policy." No flexibility. No urgency. No common sense. Policies exist to support patient care--not replace it. The way a business handles exceptions tells you everything. I'd look elsewhere. read more

I got referred to DPA by my primary OB due to my history of cholestasis in my previous pregnancy. My very first appointment I saw Dr Wilkes at the Horizon Ridge location and what a great first impression. My first half of appointments were at the Horizon Ridge location and I saw different providers. I didn't realize Wilkes primarily was at Summerlin and Forte Apache. I immediately switched my appointments to see him at those locations even if I had to drive across town. Dr Wilkes was the most impactful aspect of my last pregnancy. He listened to my concerns throughly and was proactive about treating me when my symptoms of cholestasis started with this pregnancy. He advocated for me to get induced with my primary OB for the safety of my son. I delivered my baby boy 3/24/26! My husband and I wanted Dr Wilkes to be my delivering OB but unfortunately since I had a primary, my primary had to deliver. I will continue to recommend Wilkes to anyone that ever needs a high risk OB. He truly is amazing. read more

If only every medical practice could be like this. The staff is so so nice, the receptionists all knew me by name, and actually seemed to care about how I was doing. I went 2x a week for months, it's honestly kind of sad when it's over! Dr Wilkes is truly one of a kind. I'll acknowledge there was sometimes a bit of a wait.. but the same reason I love this place- they treated me like a human being, asked and cared about how I was, allowed ME to talk and ask questions, didn't rush me out, is the reason why there is a wait! We all deserve that kind of attention and compassion, and it comes at the price of potentially waiting a bit longer. It's worth it though if you are high risk and need that type of care. read more

If I never wrote a review for Dr. Wilkes, it is a shame and 10 years overdo. I moved from Illinois to Nevada and had a bad experience with another office. I had only 7 weeks left in my pregnancy and I panicked. By a miracle, I found Dr. Wilkes. I was treated with the upmost respect and patience. I found peace that I was in good hands. Extremely slow and unprofessional. Appointment was at 3:30 pm but didn't get seen until 5:00pm. The ladies never checked in or gave an update. If I could give lower than a 1, I would. The staff was kind. The wait time was short. The experience was great. I went once to get an ultrasound for the anatomy & gender of my baby. I was asked if I wanted to know the gender & I said not yet because I'm planning a gender reveal. I was told by one of the nurses that I would be receiving it in an envelope. Upon checking out, I asked about the envelope & the lady at front desk informed me that I would be getting a call within the same week to come pick up the envelope with the gender of my baby. A week went by & I didn't get a call. I called in & was told that no notes were even taken down regarding the gender of my baby. I asked to reschedule another appointment because I had waited over week at this point & I they told me that I wouldn't be able to get another appointment for the next month. Great experience being there due to the staff but I wouldn't go back.. it's almost like I went for nothing. read more

Went to this Dr Wilkes Office for months parking is horrific every appointment was 2+hrs and when I asked questions about my care I was released without a word or explanation as to why. I received certified letter stating I would no longer be seen at 7 months pregnant with no explanation as to why! This is poor medical treatment especially after Dr placed a cerclage in me as his suggestion! Not a great feeling and this is why I wouldn't recommend! I met Dr. Adashek and his team at a very dark place in my life. I found out I miscarried and after the go around at my regularly OBGYN office I was referred over to Desert Perinatal. They were able to get me an appointment right away, tell me my next steps and help me through this new process. He answered all my questions I had and his nurses were always just a phone call away and available ! The wait times can be long, but you have to realize you are at a specialists office that helps with high risk pregnancies and as you know; babies don't always wait to come into the world or there are emergencies that have to be tended to. I was also a new patient that they took on to help! Dr. Adashek and his nurses always greeted me respect, made me feel comfortable and understood all my rollercoaster of emotions. I am in my 40s and saw Dr. Wilkes as a high risk patient. After going through multiple rounds of IVF and having a difficult journey, I felt in great hands with Dr. Wilkes. I had a couple of SCH's during the pregnancy where I had heavy bleeding and both times I thought I lost the baby. It was such a scary time. Dr. Wilkes was always so funny but he was very serious that day and told me that the placenta had partially detached and if it had fully detached, it would have been a miscarriage. I knew it could go either way for me, but he told me that he had delivered a baby a few days earlier and the woman had had the same thing happen to her around the same time as me during her pregnancy. He told me that my baby wasn't feeling any pain and had no idea what was going on around her, and that brought me comfort. The rest of the pregnancy went pretty smoothly and my SCH cleared up. Dr. Wilkes felt that it was safest for me to do a C section and I trusted his judgment even though I was scared to go through the procedure. He did an excellent job and my baby was out so fast and perfectly healthy. He always had a very positive attitude and made me laugh and feel comfortable at every appointment as well as in the hospital setting. I am a nurse and I also noticed how kind and respectful he was to the staff, which is something not all doctors are. I had to go for visits twice a week towards the end of the pregnancy, and sometimes it was busy and a little bit of a wait. But I never minded waiting because I knew Dr. Wilkes would sit with me and answer all my questions (I always had a lot!) and he never made me feel rushed or annoyed with me. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a caring doctor, and especially if they are high risk. My parents came with me to a lot of the appointments and he was always so welcoming to them as well. My mom baked him some bread my last visit. This location has ALWAYS been the worst location of them all. Checked in at 928am for my 930am appointment. I was the 4th person in the waiting room. 30 mins later more have arrived yet only 1 person had been called by then. Reception tends to do a lot of chatting yet there's not a lot of other movement. The waiting room tends to just linger along for hours on end as if there's only 1 doctor or sonographer on staff and everyone's waiting to see the same person. Exactly 1 HOUR from my original appointment I was called back. After weight and blood pressure I was assisted to a room to undress from the waist down. Only issue I have here is that as quickly as the MA walked out and shut the door, the ultrasound tech was trying to come in. Never giving me enough time to undress nor cover myself. Especially with their rooms being on a MAIN hallway. When the door is open your business is open for ALL to see. Other patients, NPs, doctors, staff, etc. The ultrasound itself was not bad or long winded. Lasted 13min. The tech, AT was actually very nice and tried to make small talk though I was already not in the mood. She never let my mood affect her wanting to smooth things over. After the ultrasound, I waited 35 mins before I stuck my head out the room to INTERRUPT staff chatting and laughing about social media to ask how much longer. I was advised I'm still waiting to see the doctor and I'm next in line. The doctor didn't show up for a total of 41 mins, said 2 sentences in less than 1 min and I was on my way. All-in-all the visit lasted 3 min short of 2 hours. YIKES The whole situation just keeps putting a bad taste in my mouth. Especially after how my FIRST appointment took over 2 hours to complete. So there's a long track record of waiting for this company. read more

office staff, recent nurses that i saw and dr giacobbe have been super sweet and helpful. they took their time addressing my concerns and questions. the only complaint i have is dr. robert's, not sure if he only travels to hospitals to see patients that are in there or also see patients in the office but he was very rude to me and my husband on 7/18. my husband was on the phone with me at work while i'm in the hospital. dr robert's walked in the room no longer than 5mins and all i needed was him to repeat what he had told me due to my husbands service had cut off for a quick second. dr robert's quickly lied saying "i've been staying here talking to your wife" when he has not been in the room for more than 5mins. as i saw he was getting upset i had stated he literally just walked in and this is the baby's father and that he also needs to know what is going on with his child. dr robert's then walked away with no other information to give me or about my baby and what i need to expect as this is my first child dealing with health issues and having to go into an emergency c-section at anytime. i dont know what made him not want to speak with my husband/baby's father as his 'about biography' says "he prides himself on offering excellent care so moms and babies achieve the best outcomes." i do not recommend him for hospital visits if he has to repeat himself. read more

Scheduled and confirmed my appointment, the time earliest they could book me was in three weeks+ time for an anatomy scan. I got reminder texts the previous day and I showed up 15 minutes earlier than my appointment at 9am. I was told that my appointment has been pushed to 10am and that there was a "problem" with my referral. They will continue to work on the "issue" with Nellis (their words) and give me a call by 9:30. As I was waiting in the Parking Lot, I get a call from them and said that Nellis canceled my appointment. Long story short, I was informed by referral management that Desert Perinatal was responsible for canceling my appointment because I wasn't considered high risk. After more than three weeks of waiting passed by, I would've appreciated them telling me this beforehand and canceling my appointment rather than waiting till the very last minute absolutely wasting my whole morning and giving me lies and the runaround. Dr. Wilkes is one of a kind!! He genuinely cares about his patients, and I truly felt that. He was my secondary Dr. during my first pregnancy to monitor me because I was high risk. I liked him so much when I became pregnant again he became my primary doctor. I usually don't trust doctors, he put all my anxieties at ease. He took his time and answered any questions or concerns I had and I never felt rushed to matter how busy he was. I delivered a happy healthy 9.5lbs baby 2/17/21! This is the BEST doctors office I have ever been to in my lifetime. Everyone I ever met was kind, helpful and even would remember me, even though they have hundreds of patients. Today was my last appointment before i go to the hospital next week. My doctor is Dr Wilkes, he is fantastic. So calm, cool, kind. I am so happy he came into my life during this pregnancy. I've trusted everything he said and never felt once he would steer me in the wrong direction. I know I am in excellent hands with Dr Wilkes. Makes me feel so much more relaxed before headed into the hospital next week knowing he is my Dr! Also I want to shout out one of the nurses - Hannah - I loved when she was my nurse in the office. All the nurses are fantastic by the way but Hannah always went above and beyond to make me laugh and relax and took her time explaining everything for me from start to finish. I never felt embarrassed with her about awkward topics and she always treated me with such kindness. I just adored her!!! The best. If I am lucky enough in life to be able to become pregnant again, there is no other office I would want to deal with. And by the way, I live 35-40 mins away from here and the drive was worth it, twice a week, every week. I feel like that says a lot! I would have driven longer. I finally got an ultrasound and they rushed me out the room to use it for another patient. I then sat in a office for the doctor to tell you nothing. They are all about the money and not the patient. A lady who came in after me asked how much longer the wait and they told her 30 minutes. Save your time and money... go somewhere else! read more

Dr Wilkes is probably one of my favorite humans, and one of the best bedside manners of any physician I have met. I had him for my last baby (3rd baby) and I only wish that I had met him sooner. There is a big problem in Maternal Health and there is so much control over labor and delivery rights and informed consent. As a nurse for over 15 years I have met many doctors and none are as staunch as an advocate for patient rights as he. He supported us and our wishes and is also about patient safety- so if what you are wanting isn't safe he will tell you. I paid a lot out of pocket to be in his care (since I didn't need high risk), and I would pay it all over time and time again to have him as my doctor. I hope he knows how much of a gem he is and anyone who is in his care is lucky to have such an amazing physician. read more

This place is a total scam charged me almost 400 dollars my whole app took almost 4 hours with the worst ultrasound ever she had to have been a student but no one made me aware if she was! Funny Bc I called my insurance and they said no claim was submitted!! And so I called another high risk pregnancy center to see how much they would charge and they just said my co pay and everything else is covered. Both these places are in network! DO NOT GO HERE! On top of it all they told me should be on insulin and my numbers are not high at all! And with in range! This place is a money scam for sure and everyone was not friendly other than the dr. But even he was taken back by how much they are charging people! Sickening how terrible this practice is! Iv worked for surgeons pretty much my whole life so I think that says a lot! I don't know how these people sleep at night taking crazy amounts of money from People and have a crappy payment plan pay half now and another half in 2 weeks! When it came time for delivery he showed up with his upbeat personality ready to assist in bringing my son into the world. The staff at desert perinatal were always friendly and attentive. A week later I CALLED THEM and they said that I had to get scheduled the next day due to time requirements of the test. Super annoying but okay. After 3 difficult and heartbreaking miscarriages, we were referred to Dr. Van Bohman. Our prior doctor who is now retired said to my Wife and I: "unfortunately you will never be able to have a viable pregnancy." I'm glad he no longer practices because I can't imagine the countless families he discouraged from having or seeking alternative advise from professionals who had greater knowledge than he. To say that Dr. Bohman is a GREAT Man would be an understatement... to my Wife and I, he will forever be our HERO! Hero's take many shapes and forms and this Man kept positive throughout our pregnancy reassuring us that all will be well and we had to maintain positivity. It's difficult to have a positive mindset when you've miscarried 3 times. I know Doctor's are advise to be cautious with their words (specially nowadays) since everybody wants to sue everybody and get rich quick. I can tell you that this practice truly does genuinely care about their patients and their well being. Having a positive mindset is also crucial to being able to handle the physical demands of a pregnancy. Their staff is truly amazing and I will FOREVER be grateful to them for helping us finally bring our first child into this world (Ezekiel). If you're out there looking to see who can help and if you can conceive, I recommend you look no further and definitely come to this practice! We won't be going anywhere else if we tried for another one. As challenging as the pregnancy was for my Wife, with the help of their staff and Dr. Bohman, they made us believe and stay positive that there still are good people in this nasty world. Would use this practice again. I found Desert Perinatal because I was looking for a genetic counselor. The genetic counselor (at Fort Apache location) came very highly recommended and we started with some preconception counseling because my husband and I both found out we carry a certain genetic mutation. During that preconception appointment we never got to meet the doctor. He was caught up with a patient and we didn't have time to wait. The reason I'm mentioning this is not to complain but to show that they have their priorities straight. I wasn't pregnant yet, it was just a meet and greet. I would have liked to meet the doctor but I'm glad he spent his time with a pregnant patient who needed his attention at that time. In eight months of pregnancy I always saw my doctor at my appointments. In order for them to manage this it meant that whichever doctor was on call when I went into labor would be delivering my baby - it could be my doctor or it could be someone else. I'll be honest - that part made me nervous because I'm getting to know one doctor this whole time and then at the crucial time of delivery that doctor may not be there with me. However, I liked that I never had appointments rescheduled or canceled on me; I was taking time off work to go there and it would have been very frustrating if I was canceled or rescheduled a lot so that my doctor could deliver babies at any time. So ultimately I can accept this even though it made me nervous. Now, having explained all that I must also say that while I was in the hospital after my c-section (that's a whole other story - more on that later) I did see at least two other doctors from Desert Perinatal and they were each just as great as my own doctor! I was pleasantly surprised! I'm not sure why I was surprised when every doctor there seemed very qualified and capable. (I read all the bios on their website!) If you're considering Desert Perinatal then you probably have a high risk pregnancy. My risk factor was my advanced maternal age and a history of high blood pressure (which wasn't high during the majority of my pregnancy). During my care at Desert Perinatal I felt like I was in good hands the whole time. They checked and monitored so many things. The last month or so of my pregnancy my blood pressure started rising and eventually led to being hospitalized and having a c-section about four weeks early. If you have reason to schedule your delivery (induction or c-section) then you can schedule it on a day when your own doctor is on call. I did have a few occasions when I needed to call after hours. Amazing! The answering service calls back like 20 min after you call to see if the doctor called you yet. Most of the time the wait was not long for appointments. Maybe twice in eight months I had a long wait here or there. Gail was our favorite sonographer. The others were fine but whenever we had Gail it seemed like we were with an old friend. She made things so comfortable and fun and got excited about things WITH us. There was one time I was supposed to pick up an envelope from the office. I get off work at 4:00 and thought that I'd make it before they closed with plenty of time to spare. I made it by 4:45 but the lobby was dark and door was locked. Be aware that at times the office may close down before 5:00 if they finish seeing patients early. Again, not a complaint but just something for other patients to be aware of. read more

The only negative is the wait times but considering I had 2 previous miscarriages, wait times were the least of my worries. I was not called back until 4:15 and then continued to wait until 4:45 to be seen. 2 hours and 15 min?! This review is for Dr.Wilkes and the staff at DPA. I was on the hunt for a new doctor at 27 weeks into my pregnancy because my prior doctor left the practice. I called DPA for Dr.Wilkes after asking around multiple FB groups for doctors who supported natural delivery. His name can up constantly. I was so happy to hear that he had an opening and after meeting him I was sold. His bedside manner is wonderful, he is warm and kind, even though I couldn't have the natural birth I wanted my c-section was still a beautiful experience. My scar is minimal and after this experience I will continue to see Dr.Wilkes as my provider going forward.
