I've been bringing my vehicles here for years. Ray and mechanic Zach were always friendly, professional, and helpful. I come in to get a quote on having brakes and rear shocks installed on my vehicle and Oscar pulls an outrageous overpriced quote out of the air, then asks me when I want to get the work done. Recently started converting my Lexus GX in to an offroad capable rig and had to figure out an issue I was having trying to go over to steel wheels. At first I went to to the Palo Verde location. I was unimpressed with their knowledge and customer service skills. Louie either didn't know what he was talking about or didn't feel like helping me. I told my friend about my experience and he said to go to the 22nd store. I went and talked to Noah, Brian, and Oscar. They instantly stopped what they were doing and came over and helped me. The amount of knowledge between them was unbelievable. They knew pros and cons of each suspension system I wanted and helped me pick one based on my price range and what I'm going to use my truck for. I am now very confident in purchasing a lift kit. I cant believe the work that was done here. When I dropped my truck off I had such a good feeling about this place, a couple of my friend refered me to the one off 19th street. I think the guys name was Shawn or Sean, the work was either done in a hurry or by a tweeker... And seeing the guy, id almost assume the latter... i already wrote how poor the service was when i got shocks and tube bumper installed here. the trim was not reattached, just stuffed in to look done, & when i noticed,they tried six excuses but refused to make it right. Now: I felt a rear shock let go ON THE HIGHWAY headed to the boondocks. I was not in 4wd...the part was not broken or knocked around. The bolts on the right rear shock came loose and fell out on the highway, just 300 miles after this place installed and supposedly tightened them snug. When I pulled off, I found the bolts vanished and the new shock dangling... boot torn up, dragged end scuffed ragged; and i discovered the shock on the other side was also loose. Luckily nothing worse happened. Sure glad i hadn't gotten something critically important worked on by these folks. Really? can they not afford lock-tight or are they just that careless? read more

Desert Rat is top notch. They installed a 3" leveling kit on my Tundra and made it look gorgeous. They performed an alignment twice on my wheels because the tech wanted to make sure it was correctly done the first time around. When I went to pay, the total was higher than what I was quoted at originally. I let the guy handling my transaction know and he corrected it to the original quote instantly. I got a chance to talk with the tech who installed the kit and he let me know that there might be some slight rubbing when Im reversing and have the wheel at full crank. Very honest staff in my opinion and would recommend anyone having a lift kit installed on their truck to check these guys out. So far so good with my experience. read more

From the start this morning The doors were not open on time, employees were showing up late. I was told that it would be a one hour install. When called back three hours later I was told it would be ready by 1 or 1:30. When I arrived at 1:45, I was told that the work had not been started yet. I asked to speak to the manager, Louie who passed himself off as the owner told me he said 2:00 o'clock. It really didn't matter since no work had begun on the vehicle.Stay away from this place, unless you enjoy being lied to and decommissioning a work vehicle for a day with nothing getting done. read more

Ok, what is the deal with off road stores and their banker's hours?! There's a real opportunity for someone with an offroad store that really wants business in this town. Yes this applies to that other 4 wheel parts house too (; Be forwarned that nearly everything i inquired about for my jeep had to be special ordered PLUS freight and tax. Also be aware that their www sight is a "totally different business" and I quote. This is why their in-house tire prices are vastly more expensive than the www price....huh? Okay whatever. On the plus side, these guys are really cool and know their stuff. They are not as busy as the 4 wheeler partshouse so you get served pretty quickly. They dont mind spending alot of time with you and your questions. Big plus! Their mechanics seem to do good work looking at the vehicles right out of the shop. read more

I purchased a class 1 trailer hitch from e-trailer.com including wiring kit, PWM, receiver, ball and cap. Pete installed it (with care) for only $100.00. It took him longer than expected (4 hours), but it was his first install on a 2006 Mustang GT. The right side muffler hanger is slightly off-center (a known problem with this setup, very minor), but that will be modified by me at a later date . The results are awesome! If you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't see it. I can easily recommend Desert Rat for this project, but make sure you tip the installer, he will definitely earn it. read more
