Pretty shocking that a pediatric dentist would allow someone to practice who has multiple complaints- including giving too much medication- DOUBLE the medication. Findings of fact say he worked on teeth virgin teeth with no evidence of decay and some ended up needing root canals, he also left open margins on crowns, and patients had nerve damage. I don't recommend this place, so unprofessional and so impatient... I took my 3year old toddler his receiving a treatment for his teeth, and this was his second time the first time it wasn't as bad, but this second time the nurse was so impatient, hesitating every time my toddler would move and giving me an attitude ... will not be bring my toddler here again ! We had an appointment at 3 just for a routine check up. They did an X-ray, cleaning after 10 minutes of waiting, waited more after the cleaning about 10 more minutes, then waited more for the dr to check, then waited more. Moral of the story after what I would say is a 20 minute appt turned into over an hour. Then after noticing my son was gagging a lot the assistant just kept trying to stick things in his mouth which lead him to throw up. The receptionist wasn't welcoming either. read more

My daughter was a patient of the Avondale office. Her last two appointments have been rescheduled without my knowledge from 4pm to 2pm or 3pm - no phone call to confirm if that works for my daughter's schedule or mine. I only get notified through a text message with the appointment date and time which if I deleted the old text messages from when I first scheduled the appointment then I wouldn't have realized the time changed. Then when I called to reschedule it back to the original time, the scheduler tells me that they do not have a 4pm time slot as their office closes at 4pm and when I reached out to their websites live chat support, the person tells me that the providers schedules vary so their office hours vary depending on the provider. Also when I tried to get rescheduled to their office location, that I was told ONLY accepts my DHMO plan by the receptionists in the office, the scheduler on the phone tells me that NONE of their office locations accept DHMO plans at all. Idk. Changes occur without the patient being notified before they occur. read more

I am disappointed in Desert Valley Pediatric Dentistry. From the beginning of my son's appointment. I was told it would be a long wait, due to being short-staffed.I was asked to fill out paperwork, I let the young lady, the paperwork was completed online. She said she would not be able to retrieve it because reason is password-locked, it is in a locked ''folder''.I did the paperwork. We get into the back. The trash cans are overflown not tucked in or covered garbage cans. The exam table on the floor has a ring of rust, you can see the table was moved making the rust visible. The Dr I wish I knew her name, From what I was told she is the only one at the Avondale location. She asked me ''' is She having pain? I told her HE HE his name is ******* She did not even take a look at ''HIS'' chart to address him by his name. using gender stereotypes. Hair length does not necessarily determine someone's gender identity. She also did not ask a medical history, I went to another practice and I had to get medical clearance from all his Dr',& DVPD Dr did not ask any questions. She looked rushed, there were like 5 patients waiting for her she kept coming in& out of exam rooms doing dental work I don't want her doing that to my son during treatment, Not to mention if your baby needs sedation they are booking into OCT 2025- No recommendations if your baby needs emergent work no accommodations no emergency slots, be serious. I voiced my concerns 3 times, Oh let me not forget, that getting his ''treatment plan was painful too. I called on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The representative taking my calls are rude, they paused when I asked for their names,I simply needed it for my notes always get a name. read more

If I could give a zero star I would, I was a new patient bringing in my autistic child for an appointment. They called me and told me it was scheduled for Saturday at 3:30pm. Only for me to drive 41 minutes to Avondale for the office to be closed at 1pm. For me to then call the office, and for them to tell me that she was actually scheduled for a Monday. They were not empathetic or sympathetic to the conflict that they created. As well as rude when I was trying to figure out why the doors were locked when I would have been 30 minutes early to the appointment they told me she was scheduled for. Wonderful office. I took my daughter for her very first dentist appointment today and everything about this place was great. The lady at the front desk was friendly and the nurse and doctor were great as well. We got called back quick and the appointment was quick and easy as well. At the end my daughter got to choose a prize from their treasure chest. read more

I do not recommend this location if I could give zero stars I would, but I wanted to leave A review. This office is very unorganized and not very clean. The floors appear to not be swept or cleaned. Some of the trash was around the trashcan. It is concerning to see the dental instruments have no protection, whereas I have gone to other dental offices, and they have protection wraps on the dental instruments, especially with the floors looking filthy. There is a big counter used for each station, but the technician did not clean the tables prior to using. There is a Sign warning, patients and families to be patient since they are short staffed but I noticed there was about five employees hanging out on the side back on their phones and laughing. It just seemed unprofessional, especially when there is a sign stating they are shortstaffed. I would understand if when there isn't any patience or it's break time, but they went back to work after hanging out for 10 minutes. Instead maybe being productive and verifying insurances or sweeping the floors. since I was told my insurance would be verified ahead of time instead it was verified the day of my visit and had to wait about 20 minutes for them to tell me they could not locate how to verify my insurance it just seems like the staff does not have very much knowledge about insurance policies or if their patients fill out the forms ahead of time. Overall, I will not be taking my child back. It was a bad experience. They also have no patient connection, The attraction seem very transactional with the doctor and all staff. I have gone to other dental offices with better service. read more

Office is mostly clean but supplies are kept out on the counters, open chairs and no privacy. Blank walls, not inviting for kids at all, except for the TVs with cartoons on. Very uncomfortable for my kids. The dental assistants (who looked like they rolled out of bed to go to work - very tight, poorly fitting scrubs , open toed shoes and disheveled hair) took about all of 20 seconds to clean/polish my kids' teeth so who knows what kind of actual cleaning they received. I was told fluoride was included in "first patient package" when I specifically told them that my insurance only covers once per year and I was just recently charged for it. We'll see what kind of bill comes. The dentist came by, did not introduce herself, and performed a 30 second exam (at most) on each kid and said everything looks good and left. I will not be coming back here. read more

Dr. Umitaz and Dr. Ponce are the best pediatric dentists in the Avondale and Phoenix area. I just moved here and was looking for a dentist for my children (4 and 5 years). Both doctors took their time to speak with them and even spoke about my children's interests (favorite cartoon, toy, song) to help make them feel comfortable. I was mostly impressed with how they showed a lot of compassion towards their fear of going to the dentist. Their staff is also very professional, their office is immaculate and they made us feel like we were a part of their family. I wouldn't recommend going anywhere else. My children had a such a great experience that they keep asking when will they be able to see the "nice dentist doctors" again. read more

I went there for the first time yesterday Monday 1/21/19 and I did not have a good experience. I had an appointment for my daughter at 900 am so I arrived there at 841 am and I filled out all the paperwork needed. Maricella at the front desk was nice but that was not the issue. The lobby was nice and clean with cartoons playing on both walls to keep the little ones occupied so that helped a little. I finished with the paperwork at 855 am with plenty of time to spare for my 900 am appointment. 15 minutes pass by and I started to get a little worried but I stayed in my seat to see if we would be called next. Around 920 am I go up to the front desk to see what is the hold up might be because my appointment was at 900 am. The front desk representative told me that they are running a little behind and apologized. I thought to myself ok I will wait to see when they will call me and I went back to my seat. I finally get called in to the back office area at 930 am and they put my daughter in the dentist chair and told us to wait. I looked around the back room and there were about 5 dental chairs lined up in a row with other patient's waiting and I only saw and heard one dentist. At this point I am getting irritated and I realized that I am most likely going to wait another 30 minutes before we see the dentist. I have been to many different dental offices with my children and I have never had to wait more than a half hour to be seen for a cleaning and xrays. The way it looked like to me is that they overbooked their dentist or someone called in sick and they did not inform any of us. They did not relay any info to me until I went up there and asked because I feel my time valuable too. I would not recommend going there unless you don't mind spending an hour after your appointment time to be seen. To make matters worse, no one let me know they were running behind or there would be an half an hour or more delay. Maybe it was the holiday or maybe I went on a bad day but I will not be going back to find out. read more
