I recently played in a tournament at the Desert Willow property. We played both courses. The course and the conditions were immaculate. Could not have been in better condition. What stood out the most though was the incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I want to give a particularly big thank you to the director of food and beverage, Keith Sansone. He helped me with something that was incredibly gracious and kind of him, he went above and beyond what you'd expect from most golf resorts. There are many many properties out in the Palm Springs Palm Desert area. I've played at almost all of them. Desert Willow hands-down has the best team of people working and supporting their operations. And as anybody could probably tell you, kind, friendly, and attentive staff make all of the difference in having a mediocre experience or having an absolutely fantastic experience. We practiced our short game on and around the greens. Utilized the driving range and putting. It was a very hot day and needed to keep hydrated so that we did not or try not to lose our swing. I came here in september, so right before the desert season kicked off. I came with 3 other friends and we played here (mountain view course and firecliff), pga west (stadium), and the classic club. Of the places we went, desert willow stood tall above the others in every single way. Conditions were phenomenal on both courses. Firecliff is a longer, slightly more difficult test of golf, and mountainview is a super fun, relatively short course with tons of forgiveness. Service couldnt have been better here as well, everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. If you are looking at public golf in the desert, desert willow is the best all around course/resort by a long shot. read more

Food is absolutely dire. Went for a light lunch and ordered buffalo wings and a Sundae. Asked for sundae without whipped cream but it came with whipped cream that has the consistency of cold mashed potato. Chicken wings were breaded and appeared to be the leftovers of someone else's meal simply rebreaded and refried. Photo is of an UNeaten chicken wing. YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes, one of the best in the desert. Course was in excellent condition and the staff was so friendly, even the comics in the Pro Shoppe were awesome but I think they were all drunk... lol just kidding. LOCATION: Excellent, quiet, clean, and great views. FACILITY: Very nice golfing facility and the restaurant is amazing. We've visited 3 times and all the meals have been excellent and reasonable. STAFF: As good as it gets even in peak season. OVERALL VALUE: Golf is expensive here and well worth it. We tee'd off later so the cost was great but pace of play got slow on the back nine so we bagged it before it got dark. TIP: As local we just visit for golf or a meal, but I'd say this would be a great place to stay and golf. Soon there will be a huge surf park on property so this should be the place to stay if visitings. read more

Since Firecliff was closed for renovation. We played Mountain View for the first time. Even though it's not as glamorous of its big brother. Mountain View is no slouch. The course was in emasculated condition. It's not has difficult as Firecliff, but it does have its challenges. We had a great time, enjoyed the day and had a great lunch afterwards. read more

My wife and I had the pleasure of playing the FireCliff course with its newly installed greens. We were warned that they would be firm, which was true, but overall the course was beautiful, immaculately maintained, and highly playable. We arrived 90 minutes early to take advantage of the premier practice facility (range with balls, pitching green, bunker, putting green), and give the wife time to prowl the pro shop offerings. A month prior, I was able to nab the first twilight rate tee time, which reduced our greens fee to $150 and we easily finished before dark, as did a few groups behind us. Every staff member we interacted with - pro shop, starters, ranger, bag boys - was very helpful and pleasant. We were paired with two brothers much younger than us who started on the Blues but moved up to the Whites as they were inconsistent and we were lagging behind. My wife and I hadn't swung a club since October, so surprisingly we were playing quite well, avoiding most of the 100+ bunkers, taking advantage of the wide landing areas off the tees, and taking the firmness of the new greens in stride. What an enjoyable round, especially when compared to our experience on public courses in-and-around Naples, Florida a few years prior. We were at Desert Willow this past weekend for a Callaway golf tournament for our son, and it was one of the best-run events we've experienced. The course was beautiful, the practice rounds were well-organized, and they offered carts for both players and spectators--something many tournaments struggle with. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was professional, polite, and genuinely seemed to care. One team member mentioned they all play together and treat each other like family, and it showed. We've been to a lot of junior golf events, and this was hands down one of the most well-managed courses we've seen. Highly recommend. read more

Have been playing in the annual Desert Championship tournament held at Desert Willow. Each year, the course is in immaculate condition with pristine fairways, true greens and challenges in the rough. Golfers try to avoid the natural and unforgiving wasteland or face having to punch out sideways or backwards. Views and andulations make the course challenging but not difficult. Pace of play during the tourney is just under 5 hours which is not terrible since everyone enjoys being out on the course. Before and after the round, the clubhouse is a great spot to start the round with a morning cocktail or after the round with a great lunch and a cold beverage. Prices for the round of golf match the quality of the course. Having two premier courses also makes it fun that you can play 36 in a day or two rounds over a few days. The only issues that is outside the control of the course is when the temperature is over 100+ degrees or when to contend with the wind. Definitely in my top 5 courses golfed in the Palm Springs area. It was beautifully maintained. More green than desert with lots of palm trees. We golfed with a couple from Switzerland who were lovely partners. I wanted to golf the forward tees at around 5000 yds but Conchita wanted to golf the tan (5600 yds) so I teed up with her. Lots of sand and a bit of water. Some traps were quite deep. Water wasn't a huge factor. The greens were the truest roll we experienced in the 13 courses we golfed. Our foursome putted quite well and often pulled out the putter for longer fringe shots. Staff was excellent. Active cart service which was nice on a warm afternoon. They had a beautiful patio area but we didn't take advantage of it as we had to head out right after the round. We finished on a busy day just around 4 hours. Great experience! read more

We had a really great time as desert willow this summer. My dad decided to golf in 105F heat but he had a great time haha! I enjoyed the pool, bar, and Starbucks. The grounds are nice and parking for each area is assigned. There are trams to take you around the resort and it's not as noisy as some other family resorts in the area BUT the real gem was the quiet pool :) read more

The Desert Willows Restaurant boasts of amazing views of the Golf Course but lacks lackluster reviews of the food and service. A surly hostess greeted us upon arrival and the waiter serving us was disinterested in helping us order the food. His manners were amateurish as he was serving us with his hands flailing across the table, rather than professionaly hosting the table with decorum!!. My wife and I just had the best experience with Jeff Grant for a couples lesson at the Academy. He asked us what we need help on. Wife needed help getting in the air and I wanted more length off the tee. We left Jeff better players and have some great drills and feels to keep it going! Desert Willow is one of the best public courses in the Coachella Valley. In the past six months they have reworked all the tee boxes and greens. They have multiple tee boxes that can accommodate any player's handicap. I highly recommend this resort! read more

My group of friends never intended to play Desert Willow during our most recent visit to PS. The resort we were booked at (that doesn't need to be mentioned) really hosed us over on our tee times. So we were left with calling around to other courses, late in the afternoon, to find a place to play. Fortunately the staff at Desert Willow welcomed us with open arms. 1st, this course is so fun to play. It's not your typical resort golf course. The layout is challenging (but fair) and is in great condition. 2nd, the staff was so accommodating and understanding to our plight. We were greeted by the cart attendant who loaded our bags to cart while we checked in. The starters gave us fair warning to when the carts were due back. They could have easily been a*%holes to us but honestly, they were so nice and inviting. Our group had a great experience during our round of golf. The combination of the friendly staff and great course was the perfect way to start our golf trip. Even though this was an impromptu visit, it was the best golf experience we had for the entire 4 day weekend. Thank you Desert Willow for crushing the customer service experience. Wow. I made the mistake of booking a vacation during October which is overseeing time in the Palm area. But, have no fear Desert Willow had some available tee times and Dylan in the pro shop was a straight up pro and a super nice guy. I let him know I was freaking out since I booked a family trip and couldn't find places to play. He gave me some local tips and was really patient with me as I proceeded to have a meltdown on the phone. Anyway, we're all set now with a tee time at DW and I can't wait to play the course and shake his hand in person. This place has all the makings of a great place with courteous staff. Course is a great layout. Staff is exceptional. Only issue the greens are in sad shape. No doubt once they heal the golf experience will be superb. I will return at end of summer and extra see the greens much improved read more
