Very challenging course. Each side has about 3 tough holes. Some water, some carries needed. A cool par three on front and a really tough par 5 with creeks. Each hole is different. Also, a par 3 with water on the back. Front plays tougher. Good pro shop, got a golf towel and a $25 voucher for food with green's fee. Maybe cause end of season but fairways definitely could have been better, brown patches. Greens running a tad slow. I'm nitpicking. Put this on your list to play in the area. read more

Everything was going great. Had a great round of golf. Customer Service was great. Everybody was helpful. Staff was knowledgeable. Course was decent. Good greens. I bought a bucket hat before the round that I DID NOT WEAR. I took it into the pro shop to exchange it for another hat after the round and Michael Reese (likey MOD) would not do it. Said there was a stain inside the hat. I said how do you know I didn't buy it like that. People try hats on. He said he couldn't sell it like that. But he sold it to me like that. This is just awful customer service. Error on the side of the customer especially since my foursome spent nearly $1500 here today. This guy sucks. What a chump. read more

First, I came here to visit the restaurant during a long tour. I think the area is beautiful and it was well manicured. I love pretty places so this met that mark. The bathroom was nice and clean, which is always an incredible plus. Other than that, I will only rate the restaurant Bellatrix. The food looked really good and I was so happy to have a bite of everything. It actually did all taste very good. We had a buffet set up, which had manicotti, some sort of chicken Parmesan, broccolini, and bread. I loved all of it and even went back for more manicotti. I will say that their Arnold Palmer was really weak though, and I was very disappointed by that. I couldn't really taste tea or lemonade. Someone in my group said it was their first time having an Arnold Palmer and they were wondering what all the hype was. I asked them to give it another try somewhere else. Tee time 6/27 10:30 Pace: 4 hours Amazing time at classic club! Considering it is their off season, the course was in great shape. The greens were pure (kinda slow though)? Tee boxes were level, and the bunkers had good sand. Fairways were slightly wet, so drives didn't roll out as much. For $99 you get the cart, range balls, and a $25 food voucher to use at the halfway house or the restaurant afterwards. One of my favorite courses in Palm Desert, I will return again! read more

Attended David Curtis's 3 day school. Learned a great deal from him. He is truly a professional, very knowledgeable was extremely patient given our level of skills. David went out of his way to make those 3 days memorable and hopefully make us a bit more skilled! Luis Sanchez, their Head Gold Professional, took the time to meet us at breakfast and welcome us to the club. All a very welcoming experience. It is a windy course, but, they cannot move the mountains and so it is what it is. Still, it remains on our courses to play list as does more instruction when we return next year. PS. The Bellatrix served an excellent lunch, highly recommend it for a bite after a round. Chelsea, our bartender, made the best Old Fashions that I have had in a long time. Good swing lube! This has historically been one of my favorite courses in Palm Desert. It's a very fair track and while challenging offers areas to bail out. Today however, was a very different scenario. The cost was high for this time of year at $170.00. at that rate I expected the condition of the course to be good. I was wrong. The course was soggy in many places but the real issue was the greens. The greens were a disaster. They almost appeared to have been burned by whatever chemicals they use. This was not your typical late summer situation. Add in the face that the cups had obviously not been moved for a few days made for a very disappointed 4 some. read more

Started out great, ended poorly. Our golf trip of 8 guys checked in an hour early for 1:45 teetime. Enjoyed the free range balls, practice chipping and putting area. Marshall got us out on time after emphasizing pace of play. Course played acceptably. Some burnt areas and some crab grass spots on fairway. Golf cart started struggling on 17th hole with a group waiting on us (our pace was on track for recommended time). Golf cart fully died on 18 tee box. Had to hike all my gear and garbage for arguably the best hole on the course. Ruined my experience at the course. This was also my last golf hole of my trip. Staff at check out didn't offer much sympathy, apologies or modes for feedback. For such a big bill (8 greenfees) I'm feeling a bit ripped off by this course. Will be voting to visit other courses next time! read more

Such an amazing course and experience from bag check to finish. Only putting 4 stars due to course Marshall being a knuckle head about pace of play even though we were 30 minutes ahead of pace the entire round. $240 seems pricey, but when we checked in, we received a Ghost that towel with Classic Club embroidery easily worth $40-$50. Also range is included in tee time and you receive a $25 good/drink voucher to use at the restaurant or cart girl. So happy I chose classic club for one of my rounds of golf on vacation in Palm Springs. The pricing was amazing! Caveat: I only play here in the AVID fundraiser golf tournament. If you don't like golf with water hazards, don't play here. Water comes into play in a majority of the holes. If you don't like wind, don't play here if wind is in the forecast. It will blow your shots into the water. If you want a challenge, enjoy doglegs, and like lush green fairways, the Classic Club is a good choice. Rounds cost about $150. The practice areas are great. A spacious driving range, adequate chipping green, and a rolling, undulating putting green will prepare you for your round. read more

This golf course is one that we play when we come down to the desert. We have been playing here for about the last 5 or 6 years due to the great help and the shape of the golf course, we played last week in the very strong wind not the course when its very windy but we toughed it our as we like the course that much. Played with another couple that were from out of town very nice and after golf we had a bite to eat with them, they also liked the course very much. The greens were fantastic and true. First time playing Classic Club which came recommended from others both before and during my trip. I am thankful for these recommendations because Classic Club was my favorite Palm Springs course. I played. The Golfweek, Golf Digest, Golf Magazine ratings for this course will certainly be returning to the top 10 in California now that they've installed their outstanding new bunkers. Service - 10 Driving Range - 10 Layout - 10 Conditions - 10 Fun Factor - 10 Challenge - 9 Overall - 10 This course is so solid from start to end. I cannot recall a boring or throwaway hole, with #1 being the weakest and the holes only getting better from there. The layout is just fantastic with a perfect balance of fun/challenge/visual appeal. I played this course last and it really made me appreciate just how balanced the layout is and how superb the conditions were. It was the only course I played that truly felt like a destination course with no houses, condos, facilities or other eyesores to distract from the beautiful views. I can recommend Classic Club without reservations to anyone. read more

This course lives up to all the hype, just a great experience overall. The staff is great, it's pricey but you are treated well and the course is in outstanding condition. I was a little scared off by some videos I saw on youtube which made it seem like it was going to be way too hard to enjoy. Not the case at all. We did get a little lucky in that the wind was not blowing as hard the day we played and I'm sure that makes a difference but they still offer many tee boxes to choose from. You should be able to find one that fits your level. I'll come back to this one for sure. Former site of the Bob Hope classic, apparently the pros complained about it too much, bunch of babies if you ask me. read more

This is a very nice golf course! However, If you're a person of color, you may not feel welcome here. I came for a tournament with a large group of friends and I was the only African American in the group and I was treated as such twice during the golf excursion. When we ordered food, the waitress took my order last. I blew that off as coincidence until my friends and I were all out on the balcony smoking cigarettes, and an employee of the golf course came out and told me I had to put my cigarette out because it was a no smoking area. There were at least 12 other people on the balcony smoking and I was the only person that they said something to. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I will never come back to this place, but I'm sure that's probably what the message they wanted to send to me in the first place. read more

A nice course, but far from a great, or even good course. The main reason: the condition of the bunkers. Those that aren't as hard as a rock had large pools of water in them (or both). They are well aware of the drainage issue, and claim they will be fixing them starting July 2019. We'll see. There are much better courses around for the money. Adding insult to injury: the bar and grille. They have a nice deck with a pretty view, and the interior is fairly elegant, but the bar and Classic Grille don't live up to the dream. Considering it's run by Troon, I'm not sure whey have stooped to the lowest possible level of quality. 1. Ordered nachos. Disgusting canned cheese sauce, bland quacamole (they say homemade), tasteless chips, weak pick de gallo, and a mountain of sour cream. Awful. 2. Watched a cocktail server and the bartender turn down a customer because the restaurant doesn't carry any mint to make a mojito! 3. Ordered an Arnold Palmer made with crappy "lemonade" mix shot out of the bar gun. At a place that charges a lot for golf, you'd think they'd raise the quality to actual lemonade. Roll over Mr. Palmer... **A star goes to bartender and servers. Good people, but laboring under the poor management. read more

The pro shop and restaurant staff could not have been more helpful. Played here 7:20 am on Saturday. course, range, and putting green was in immaculate shape. rate was $210 and got 4 $25 vouchers for the group. pace was fast and carts and service were great. course was really hard though which took a lot of fun out of it. lost about 8 pro v1s so took a hit there. only worth it if your good in my opinion, the 3 and 6hc partners in my group struggled as well. 7/10 overall. read more

Update. I was hesitant to play here again but we were in the area and all the other courses we tried we're closed for maintenance. The course was in pretty good shape, not quite what it was when I first played it but very respectable. I would have no problem playing it again in these conditions. The only complaint I had was there was a 6some holding everyone up and the course didn't deal with it until after the turn. For $135 you'd think they'd be a little more on it. Overall, I'd place the this course back on my recommended list for palm desert. read more

The Classic Club in Palm Desert is one of my absolute favorite golf courses that I have ever played. It was the first course I ever played in the Palm Springs area, and it was the first course that I ever laid a bet on. A little history of the Classic Club is that it is maintained by Troon Golf, which is like a gold star for me. That means the course is tough, immaculate, and most important - discounted for me as a Troon Advantage Member. Classic Club has also been the multiple host of the Bob Hope - Chrysler Classic. So, you know it is legit. Boy, is this course hard! THIRTEEN holes have lakes on them, and one hole had hazards on the right and the left. It is a very narrow, desert style course. There are cacti and sage brush lining many of the holes... and roadrunners, rabbits and coyotes nearby. Best part of the round, was a very important shot on the 18th hole where our competitor tried to hit his ball out of the shallow part of the edge of the lake and fell in! Crazy old man! Haha! Tough. This is a true five star golf course, designed by Arnold Palmer. It was such a great experience I can't wait to return. The employees who welcomed us were friendly, courteous, and engaging. The pro shop was efficient and helpful. We received two complimentary towels and two $15.00 vouchers towards food/beverage. Lunch at Bellatrix restaurant was 5 star, please read my review. The course was amazing! Fairways and greens were immaculate. They use recycled water and keep the course in mint condition. The golf cart was stocked with ice and waters, dry towels and wet towels, tees, booklets about the holes, and divet repair tools. Since it was our first time the starter gave a detailed run down of the course and pin placement, thorough, but not lengthy. Out on the course you will see majestic snow covered mountains, beautiful landscaping, water, wild life, rolling hills, and it is quiet. Bathrooms are clean and placed well. I cannot say enough good things about the employees in every department, it was truly a great TROON experience. read more

The Asian Chicken salad is so tasty. Add the house made Asian dressing, it makes a fantastic lunch. Partner had the Cobb Salad and raved about his salad also. I asked about the dressings, "are they House made" that was affirmative. So very good. That will make a Salad Lover come back again and again. Our server, Robin, was a joy also. Thank you to the Classic Club team for a super fun Saturday mid-morning round. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Driving range was a good warm up. Carts had a cooler stocked with a few bottles of water and they had a phone and menu at the 6th tee to order and pick up lunch after the 7th hole. All the holes were in good shape and fun, with lots of water - which means 1) beautiful and unique water birds everywhere (I even saw a pelican) and 2) Bring half dozen extra balls if you're aim is inconsistent. read more

This Review is long OVERDUE!...MY Husband and I chose the classic club for our ceremony and reception (March 5th). Where to start, this place is so beautiful from the staff to landscape and tasty food. We loved everything the classic club had to offer us. especially the events coordinator Charlsie and her assistant, they went above and beyond for our 350 guest wedding. I could not believe how smooth everything went with 350 guests thanks to the staff. They also allowed us to have a cigar roller out on the patio. which was a big hit! i would recommend them for any special event you have going on.
