Whenever I visit DeSha's I always end up getting the coconut chicken. It's really tasty and super delicious. Also the honey mustard pairs soo well with it. Like it totally brings the dish to a new level of flavor. The servers are always really nice and not too pushy. So big plus there. The inside is pretty generic so don't expect too much, but the side room is pretty nice it had a nice brick wall and nice decor. read more

Decided to try this place as we passed through. The service was fairly slow, despite very few diners. I'm not sure what vibe the restaurant is going for as the menu doesn't match the decor. The menu lacked in choices for us: almost to the point of changing our minds and eating elsewhere. We ordered the combo for appetizer, substituting stuffed banana peppers in place of coconut chicken. This food tasted like expired boxes of frozen appetizers from the freezer section at Wal-Mart. The fried cheese was a mix of warm and cold temperatures. We ordered boneless wings as an entree. When we couldn't decide between sauces, the waitress explained they use Franks Red Hot Sauce for the buffalo sauce and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ mixed with some bourbon. We picked the buffalo sauce. We also ordered the fish sandwich with fries and mac and cheese. The wings tasted like frozen prepackaged wings. The fish was overcooked and had an odd, sweet breading that just didn't fit the flavor palette of the fish. The fries were cooked nicely and were decently seasoned. The mac and cheese sauce desperately needed thinned. It was like glue and very unseasoned. This place is like an incredibly overpriced Applebees. Based on our experience, I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Father's Day: A time for celebration and good food. That was NOT the case with our dining experience at Desha's in Maysville. Our wait time was over 45 minutes. The dining area we were seated in only had one other occupied table leaving patrons seated in the staging area. The receptionist was more interested in adjusting her nose piercing. We were told by our attentive waitress that several things were not functioning including the soft drink machine. My spouse ordered the 12-ounce ribeye steak. We waited for quite a long time before our meals were served. My husband's plate consisted of a slab of fatty prime rib that was lukewarm. Several items (baked potato and broccoli) were served later. We told the waitress that we ordered the RIBEYE steak, NOT the prime RIB. She offered to try to fix the problem. The prime rib was terrible; tough and filled with fat. Two patrons left because the restaurant was "out" of the items they requested. My husband's meal was removed from our bill, and the waitress was very apologetic. When we left the establishment, several of the wait staff were just standing around in the reception area talking. Very poor dining experience. read more

My wife and I were driving to Indiana to watch Monday's eclipse, and we decided to stop for an early dinner. We decided to stop at deSha's Restaurant on US 68 in Maysville, Kentucky. We had looked at the menus of upcoming restaurants, and that one caught my eye. A very welcoming hostess showed us to our table. It is a very warm, comfortable dining room, with brick walls, large exposed beams above your head, and a huge fireplace. Being in Kentucky, my wife ordered a shot of Woodfore Reserve Rye, and I ordered Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. My wife, who is a bit of a bourbon and whisky connoisseur said the Rye was so smooth, and she definately picked up the woody fruity caramel-y notes. As for the ale, it had a real caramel flavor and was excellent, even at 8.2% ABV. For starters we had Coconut Chicken. We expected wlamm pieces, but we're served 4 entre-sized pieces. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked, and the coconut breading was very delicate. For dinner we both had the pan-seared salmon, served with rice. We both selected sautéed whole mushrooms as a side. The salmon was luscious. A nice "crust" on the outside hid tender salmon. Mushrooms were a bit on the salty side, but the juice left after finishing them helped the rice. All in all it was a very nice dinner. We will be coming through here again, as we have good friends in eastern Indiana, so we will be back. Definitely a place to try. read more

I'm going with three stars. It is a nice place, probably one of the best is Maysville as it is a very small town. It was clean and the service was southern friendly. No good but friendly. I ordered a cup of chili (bland) and the chicken wing app for my meal. I got the wings as an app and a cup of chili for my meal. As I was raised not to start eating before everyone else has their meal I ate maybe four or five bland and cold boneless wings for dinner. She did hustle out the beers pretty quick so I also had a couple of Yuengling to wash the blandness down. read more

This place was great! We got there right around 5 and it was already busy. We got seated right away and our service was very nice. I ordered the fried green tomatoes which were amazing, and fish and chips a small order (two pieces of fish) with fries and it's supposed to come with coleslaw but they did substitute another side for me. My mom ordered the three sides with cornbread, the loaded baked potato was really good, the coleslaw was also good. We were both eh about the cornbread. All in all we enjoyed it very much. read more

What a pleasant surprise! We came on a whim and I must say I enjoyed my meal and time here. Hannah our waitress was so sweet. She always had a smile and answered all questions with no issues. It has been quite a long time since we dined at Desha's. While I miss the atmosphere of the location past, it was still a very pleasurable experience. The food was as good as I remembered. The menu has a variety of Americana options sure to please everyone's cravings; appetizers - dessert. The adult beverage selection offers a variety of wines and beers; not extensive but satisfactory. As a wine drinker I love to see a few more mid-level and above selections added. It is definitely a pleasant dinner option. read more

Ordered lunch combo of what was listed as house salad and a cup of soup. I've had this multiple times and the portions were reasonably priced for the amount of food. The price was unchanged. However in place of a nice house salad I was given a tiny salad of a little lettuce,2 cherry tomatoes, 5 small crouton sticks ,maybe 4 slivers of carrots and a single ring of onion. It would have fit in a coffee cup. I asked the waitress about it and she said the size was decreased yesterday and yes the price was unchanged. Sometimes businesses make random decisions that really are not customer friendly. I was looking for a place to eat on Christmas Eve and called in advance and was told they would be closed at 4PM. Drive over 30 minutes to get there and arrived at 3:05PM only to be told that they stop seating at 3PM. Now the sign on the door said seating stops at 3:15PM which I pointed out to the hostess. Response was we changed the time to 3PM. Lost a regular customer today. read more

Decided to give this restaurant another try as my first experience was a little lackluster, and I must say the second time was a charm. I had the fried fish with slaw and fries, and my boyfriend had a mushroom burger with cheese and a bordelaise sauce.......it did not disappoint. Service was a little slow for the amount of people dining, but our server made up for it by checking in and keeping drinks filled. Will definitely return. read more

Disappointed. Ordered moscato and it tasted completely watered down and no fizz, and I've had good moscato. Maybe the brand- who knows. Ordered the potato skins appetizer and it only came with 3, how do you share that? The salad was "eh". Plan, the positive side of the night was the muffin. My husbands "Hawaiian ham" was just ok as well. For $50 we will spend our money elsewhere in the future. Service was slow but the waiter was friendly - when we saw him. I've been a patron of Desha's for many years and always find their choice very good and consistent. If I ever have an issue the management has addressed it quickly and to my satisfaction. At the Harper's point location I have had several issues with customer service and short pours after downsizing their glassware a couple years ago Now they are downsizing the mixed drinks as well. Eileen would only offer to dilute our drinks to make them appear full. Eileen told us over two years ago that the glasses should not be full. Her demeanor is not customer friendly, warm, nor pleasant, even to regulars. When my friend pointed out the tonic water was flat Eileen told her she should stop drinking tonic water because it was unhealthy, but aren't alcohol and soft drinks unhealthy also? Why would a manager go out of her way to alienate a customer, especially a weekly customer? read more
