    Grilled Salmon and mashed potatoes

First time at Caproni's -Nov '24 Service was great. Food was great. I had the pork chop and my dad had the grilled salmon. I'd definitely go back whenever I'm in the Maysville area.

    Calamari!!! Excellent!!

We had been driving all night from St. Louis picked up our friend in West Union, OH, and he tells us that he made reservations about 20 minutes away in KY. What? We just drove 6 hours to see you. Isn't there a place closer? He assured us that we wouldn't be disappointed. So we say our hellos and pile back into the car... all 5 of us... to trek on icy unfamiliar roads in the dark to a restaurant that BETTER live up to the hype. The location is beautiful at night (I'm sure it's lovely in the daylight too). In the foyer, we were greeted by a painting or photo of Rosemary Clooney and a beautiful light. Our waitress was sweet, and she told us the special and went on her way. I saw that calamari was on the menu, and it's a given that I'm gonna order that when I'm out. We also ordered potato skins. They looked amazing. I didn't try them, and in looking at the menu, I didn't see them listed, but everyone said they were really good. The salad and rolls came out. The rolls were warm... nice touch. The salad is brought out in one big bowl. I get it... it saves lettuce because some people just pick at their salad, but I was first to get some out of the bowl and didn't want to be selfish, so I didn't get enough. That's really the only con. My main entree was shrimp and grits. It was very good but like a lot of places they keep the tails on. I just don't get that. It gets super messy. One of my friends got a Hotbrown sandwich. Another got the catfish. We really liked that they had Kentucky Classics on the menu. It made our choices easier. Between the wine and drive, we were all really tired, but we still had dessert. We shared cheesecake and transparent pie. We call it sugar pie. As someone who doesn't like pie at all, I was pleasantly surprised. We were talking to the table next to us... they were celebrating a birthday, so we sang with them, wished them many more, and then a southern gentleman gave us his dessert. It was good. I believe it was tirimasu in a mug. Oh, and the whipped cream on the desserts was great!! The service was good. We even asked to hear back from one of the waitresses... Tonia... and she did NOT disappoint. Got her letter this week. Thanks!!! Was it worth the hype and the drive? Yes, ma'am!

My husband and I came on our anniversary and it's the perfect spot for an intimate dinner for two! The view was great and service was fantastic as well! The pasta dish I got was really yummy & the salmon was cooked perfectly! The catfish platter was a bit heavy, but still good.

Service was absolutely top notch (Jeff) and meal was delicious. Lasagna with meat sauce was prepared perfectly and a very generous portion served with the in house Maysville Salad. Chicken marsala with tiny mushroom pieces and a side of creamy spinach mixed in with long sweet strands of cooked onions and the fried apples were not over sweet and a heavy flavor of cinnamon with chewy skins, personally I love the apple skins. Service was so good and we enjoyed a wonderful view of the river. No train passed this visit. This is a long time dining establishment in the quaint town of Maysville tucked behind the flood wall. Love supporting local places and they have a great bourbon selection!!

I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. It's my favorite restaurant in Kentucky. The food is always spectacular and the views are amazing. The service is always spectacular, and U honestly feel like I'm not even in Kentucky when I'm here... it feels BIGGER if that makes sense. The river views are to die for... but wait until that train comes! It's so neat. Highly recommend Caproni's to anyone.

Good food and nice atmosphere for a special occasion. Service was above par and the river barges passing by made it a great experience.

We…read morefrequent another pasta restaurant in town and wanted to try something new that also had several Italian classics to choose from. It was all delicious, service was wonderful, vibes were beautiful, and I felt the food came at a good value for what we ordered. Mainstrasse in Covington is an experience and Mama's is part of that! We sat outside on the patio to take it all in- highly recommend in nice weather. The building itself is beautiful and both the inside and outside feature artsy details in the decor that I really appreciated. My favorite was the mismatched plates, which were darling and cozy! Our waitstaff was quick and friendly, allowing us to order all at once and bringing things out with great timing- quickly, but not until we finished a course so we weren't rushed. We appreciated getting in and out relatively quick as we had a sitter at home. We decided to go a little all out and try a lot of items together. First, the focaccia and ricotta was enjoyable but not my favorite bread starter I've had. It hit the spot but I wasn't raving about it like another one of my favorite whipped ricotta starters across town. The arancini, however, was fantastic- probably our favorite thing we ate. Hot, crispy, and paired with a delicious spicy marinara that was super standout and flavorful. Next we got the stonefruit panzanella, which was beautiful and really yummy. The burrata was delicious in particular and while the cherries and peaches weren't the best I've had all season, they worked well together in this dish. For our entrees, we split both the chicken parmesan and the limone pasta. The chicken parmesan was huge, we both had a large piece even after it was split. The pasta had that delicious marinara from earlier and we really enjoyed it, which is saying a lot for a simple marinara spaghetti. The chicken was very thin and crispy. I liked the limone even better- it was very lemon forward which can be hard to achieve in a creamy sauce. We only wished we tried more shapes of pasta because it's made in house and the spaghetti was the perfect level of al dente in our opinions. We were super full, but ordered the cookie platter to finish the meal. We split a couple of the 6 cookies that came in 3 varieties, but took the rest home! The chewy almond/amaretto cookie was our favorite and really unique. My husband also had an old fashioned and commented that he liked it a lot. I would have expected this much food to come out to much more than it did- $100! I feel that is a great value for a special occasion considering we were stuffed and tried a ton of menu items. Overall, this was such an indulgent and fun experience and I'd highly recommend Mama's to anyone who is looking for a yummy Italian experience with comfort food classics in a fun, cozy Covington setting.

This review will resemble many others here on Yelp. Ambiance and service was very good…read more Drinks were well made and balanced. Quickly served what should have been a nice half loaf of airy Italian bread. Please see pic in manhandled squashed bread. Not exactly appealing or appetizing with the hand and thumbprint left in the loaf. Entrees were served in a reasonable time. Shrimp Spaghetti was fine. Nothing remarkable about it that would make me order it again. The chicken Marsala was quite disappointing. The only thing cooked well was the asparagus. Two small breasts were over grilled, easily happens to breasts 1/4" thick and they couldn't even come up with enough Marsala sauce to cover them?!? I guess 2 slices of mushroom in the sauce were generous. The cafeteria ice cream scoops of mashed potatoes were a nice touch. I had to actually laugh when my plate was set in front of me. What upscale restaurant serves mashed potatoes using a scoop? Cold dense and had a lumpy weird texture. Felt like they added cold mash to hot mash and tried mixing them together. The cafeteria quality food doesn't match the decor or cost of the entree. The deal is if you are charging an avg of $30 a plate in Dayton for Italian entrees you better up your game. Brio really doesn't. Hopefully new people continue to come here because I think repeat customers will be hard to come by. I can't say I have a convincing reason to return which is unfortunate because everything else is set up for success. But if your primary function is to deliver Italian dishes at a higher price point than the local competition your food has to be better and customers have a higher expectation for what we are paying for. In Brio you may find better elsewhere but you'll never pay more. Sorry Brio, one and done for us.

We had the inside bartender as our waiter, there was only one other table on the patio and no one at the bar. I'm not sure why this became the ridiculous experience it did. We ordered water, Diet Coke and a miller lite. We must of sat waiting for 25 minutes for just that. Finally I went in and said can we please get our drinks and bread ? Bartender told me - So sorry, we're trying to figure out the new computer system. We were told they were out of Miller , so I asked for a house wine. And the bread was in the oven. We ordered side salad that arrived with wilted iceberg $8 each and had no dressing on it and received No bread- I asked again for bread. He said still in the oven.... 40 min after we arrived. We did get one piece of bread at the 50 min mark after finishing our salads. My lasagna was good but my spouse's chicken caprese had little pesto and no flavor. The bartender said I know you've been here forever with service being sub par so desert is on me. We were not at any point offered refills on drinks or bread... When our bill arrived- He charged us for both desserts and said he forgot what he said about complementary... And just laughed!!! Our whole experience was the worst I've had in years ! Our bill was $100 and it took 2 hours and 10 minutes total. I will never return to Brio at the Greene in Beavercreek Ohio.

(It was 91 degrees at 8:00 pm). The waitress just blew off the remarks, which I don't blame her. She's young and just works there. But there was a family sitting on the patio and every time the waitress went outside, where we were seated it felt like we were blasted with a heater. When they walked in to leave, they mentioned that it felt the same temperature inside as it did outside. My children ordered a personal pizza off the kids menu, each, but the waitress only brought one and my husband ordered the street taco nachos, which were good and a salad, which he said was okay. We didn't say anything about the pizza, they just shared because we honestly just wanted to leave as soon as possible. They enjoyed it. I didn't order any food because the heat just made me nauseous. The waitress was nice, raved about the strawberry shortcake for dessert (tried it, none of us enjoyed it, which is unusual for my kids). Our bill was $60. In my opinion, it was overpriced for mediocre food and the feeling of 80+ degrees in the restaurant.
