4 Stars because: it's my go to when I'm craving me some Indian food! Don't be scared when you come here. If it's any consolation, the decore and cleanliness of this food court is really the only con. This place is a definite hole in the wall and that either that means it's going to be really good or really bad. In this case food wise it's good, yay! Plus it has the best prices for curry in this area, another pro! My review is based on only one of the kiosks in the food court, Punjabi food and chat! I haven't had the urge to try the other kiosks but if I do I shall update this review. Now Punjabi gives me everything I want when I'm looking to eat me some Indian food and you can customized the spiciness. Once in a while it is spicer than requested but still tastes amazing. I can handle my spice, being Korean and all, so it's not an issue for me. I just prefer my curry on the creamer side. If spiciness if an issue, order on the more mild side to be safe. Favorite dishes: Chicken Makhani (Butter chicken), Paneer Makhani, and then Chicken Tikka Masala! Their chicken dishes are so moist and juicy and their curry base is creamy and full, exactly how I like it. Side dishes: Their naan is good (soft and warm) and they also have JUMBO naan if you're really needing a plus size of that bready goodness. I also like their rice recipe as its pretty balanced and doesn't have too much herbs. Tip: Call ahead for pick up and as a rule of thumb I always give them at least 20 minutes if not 30 to complete my orders. I've been coming here for years now so they know me and my sister and are always nice and accommodating. This is a good concept gone bad. The idea of putting different types of Indian restaurants in one location is good as it allows you to see the diverse offerings India has and decide what you want. However none of the food we had was very good. It not only did not taste fresh and like it was made with bad ingredients but it also lacked taste and flavor. I should say that I went last year and just only now realize I had my review in drafts, The recent reviews do seem better so perhaps it has improved. However based on my experience in September 2010, I definitely do not recommend it. read more

There are enough seats for maybe 30 people, but if they were all full, it would feel very very cramped. That said, the prices are overall very affordable, catering mostly to snacks and lunch box like servings. You can find: Chin Chin - Indo Chinese food Desi Pan Center Khan Kebab Punjabi Food and Chaat for the northern Indian food most Americans know Mithai House - Indian sweets Gujarati Rasoi - thalis and other southern Indian food Biriyani Adda - rice Dosa Bytes - tasty crepes Center island has drinks and juices Back left corner has the water cooler and the restrooms Kay and I visited and sampled the following: Masala Chai from the center island - good, and $1! yay! Onion rava dosa from Dosa Bytes - delicious and crispy as it should be. The sambar and chutneys were also on point. Good stuff. Lamb rogan josh, lamb saag with garlic naan from Punjabi. Okay, not the best. Overall, the dishes are not wow-worthy, lacking the strong flavor punches they each should have. The naan even fell flat. Rasmalai from Mithai House - okay. Fresh and creamy, yet missed that squeaky cheese curd quality I was hoping for. You can watch them make sweets in front of you (Sunday they were making burfi! x3) I'll give this one another try - they have all the standards. Lamb kebab roll from Khan - solid, but took a while to come out. Homegirl was working solo and manning the drink station, so totally understandable! Overall, Desi has enough options to please most people and a price point that makes it easy to try a lot of things. Several stalls are halal and most are vegetarian friendly. That said, its food court food, so nothing here will blow you away and the tables are not necessarily clean. If you're new to Indian food, I'd recommend coming with a friend to help you order as the choices can be overwhelming for the uninitiated. Ordered from Punjabi Food & Chaat on Desi Food galaxy Website - Got take out - ordered paneer bhurji which was 90% onions and bare minimum paneer. This is nothing more than cheatIng. Paying $10 for mainly onions that too are too spicy when ordered NO SPICY specifically for my wife who cannot eat spicy food. Ended up throwing out pretty much the whole order. They are like typical Indian restaurants who think once they get established, they don't need to care about customer or quality of product. Well guess what...you are not the only Indian food spot in town. I'd rather pay more at a place that cares about the quality of their food anf what they serve their customers rather than cheat them. I love this galaxy! (I've been wanting to say that!) The whole place consists of smaller food stalls packed together in a rather small food court setting area. The humble settings allows you to choose food from multiple flavors and areas of India (there's even an African food stall at the other end). We tried a few things from this and that vendors and they are all quite delicious and satisfying. The Punjabi chat stall appears to be the busiest of the evening, but we also tried a bhel plate from Bombay Spice, which turned out to be very homely and plenty. The shish kabob from the Punjabi stall was fresh and spicy.... ztshhhhh! The only drawback is that, given the food court a la carte environment, we didn't realize that many of the dishes didn't come with rice/anything else, so first I ended up with just the shish kabob plate, then of course I had to order the rice and naan as additional. But no complaints, they all serve as a good mix. Especially when doused with the sugar cane + ginger drink from the middle stall, where the lady passed the sugar cane through a squeezer to drain the juice into your cup.... just like I've had it in Asia! I saw a review critical of the hygiene. To me this eatery offers the typical hygiene level of a food court, no better or worse than those in malls. Perhaps the rather humble or pedestrian setting turn some people off and fueled the "unhygienic" suspicion. I did see a B, not A, rating posted though. So, while it doesn't offer not a glowing spic-n-span rating, to me the condition is not at all at a level that would raise a concern (We didn't get sick or anything after this, and I got sick once from eating at a much fancier restaurant!) Overall.... a good exploratory trip, even entertaining, "street" food court experience, where you don't have to drain your wallet. read more

VERY good place to eat all sorts of Indian food from all regions to your content. India is a HUGE place and many have myths that it's all one type of food (i.e spicy curry sauces). NOT TRUE. This place is like an Indian dhaba, with over 8 separate restaurants inside.. very rustic feeling. If you want a fancy frou-frou place, this is not for you. But if you are big Indian food fan- this is an oasis here. There is a popular Edison branch, but that's so crowded. This is hidden off and feels more peaceful. The variety of Indian foods is dazzling. Just run a wikepedia on Indian cuisine , and over 30 regions show up. This is a charming place to experience some of the different regions of cooking, at VERY low prices. This is a fantastic place to go with friends if everyone likes different types of Indian foods. In addition, they have fusion cuisine (Chinese and even Mexican! , which is becoming popular in India). We have attempted to eat at every restaurant in there, and it's all very good. Very surprised to read about the two low reviews.. we only had good experiences here. And someone said it was expensive--quite the contrary, we saw the best prices out of all the places around here. Alas.. one less star, since the atmosphere and eating area is a bit too crowded (do takeout, if you don't like crowds). We attempted to eat quite some vegetarian dishes, but there are so many more to try! * South India (idly's): pesarattu (unique mung-bean lentil green dosa rarely offered in restaurants), standard dosas, idlys, etc. really good dosas. They also have dosa special nights for dosa for $1 or $2 dollars. Very good! We come here for the dosas alone at times.. best bargain and taste. * Birayani : Rice and layered vegetables among other things. Nice. Seems to be a popular take-out. * Punjabi Food and Chaat: They have a veg platter with an entire meal for about $7.00 (naan, rice, vegetables, salad, raaiti). One of the best platters. Very very good stuff! Even my finicky friend likes this one. * Bombay Spice: we enjoy their chaats and paav bahjii (a Mumbai specialty of bread rolls with Indian gravy). We arrived after closing time once, and they re-opened the place to make us some- it was great. * Desi Juice Center: Carrot and other healthy juices for a fraction of a price. Indian shakes too and ice creams too. They make the juices fresh in front of you. Really nice to just go and pick up a juice, at a fraction of a price of health centers. * Guajarati Rasoi: wow.. what variety from this region. They have dhoklas (steamed lentil cakes- a mild salty savory dish) - entire plate for about $5.00 dollars to platters- very tasty. And Guajarati Indian platters (like poori-subji) to even Mexican platters like burritos (!), etc. all good stuff. * Sweets Center: delicious sweets;; Indians sweets are a hidden treasure.. * Chin-Chin Chinese: Indo-Chinese is coming up as a big fusion in India. We tried their vegetarian soups and platters. Very good deal on Chinese dishes- and very tasty. Really, this is like reviewing over 8 restaurants at once- so cannot get into details. Maybe someone should separate the restaurants to independent yelp listings to make a proper review of each restaurant. The amount of things to try is the best. Momos inner chicken mixture was good & outer layering was paper thin.. I liked the gravy also & it was full of flavors.. For lunch this afternoon, I ordered dabeli, Bombay bhel, Malabar paratha, vaghar idli and aloo schezwan kati roll. The quality of the food is excellent and doesn't sacrifice its flavors and spices for the inexpensiveness of the dishes. Each dish was ~$5. My favorite was the dabeli and Bombay bhel because it contained all the essential components, such as Pomegranates and sweet and spicy chutneys. The Bombay bhel has an amazing chevdo (Indian snack mix). The potato filling inside the dabeli was perfectly spiced and simply delicious. The Malabar paratha was extra buttery, just how I requested and it was super flakey (which is always a bonus). The vaghar idli was delicious, and the idlis were steamed to perfection. Lastly, the aloo schezwan kati roll was my least favorite because it only contained a potato stuffing inside the kati roll with lots of schezwan paste. Overall, this place is cheap and contains dishes from various regions in India (Punjabi, South Indian, Gujarati). read more

This is an Indian food court. The interior is not just kept up to a point where it takes away from the dining experience. You see water stain marks on the drop ceiling. The order counters are way out of date and need some serious updating. They have crammed so many tables in the spot that the trash bin needs to be in way. Food is ok. I have had food from Bombay Spice and the Indo-Chinese place. Both places are good. Bombay Spice is slightly on the expensive side. Indo Chinese is more reasonable. Order the veg Manchurian with white rice, you will not regret it. It is one of the best items I have gotten there. read more

Went here for take-out because I was craving Indian food so bad but wasn't up to actually making it. Was recommended by friends, so I checked this place out. This establishment is pretty interesting, as they have 5 or 6 (or more?) different food stalls, including an Indo-Chinese stall, a sweets stand with Indian sweets, and a stand for just dosas, among others. I went to a food stand that had chicken biryani on the menu. There is also a juice stand and a dry goods stand. Really interesting concept, and it was filled with Indian people eating and ordering- so you know it's good!! They middle area has chairs and tables to sit and eat or wait for your order. I'd like to come back here and check out their sweets counter since I love Indian desserts and sweets. it's like one-stop shopping for all your Indian food cravings! read more

I had a couple of bad experiences at this place. The Chinese food at "Chin Chin USA" is really bad and I doubt they use fresh ingredients. The noodles was oily and tasted like animal lard. I absolutely LOVE this place. They have a ton of restaurants in one space and everything is flavorful. The Falooda and beverages stall is exceptional in every way. There's always something different to go back for. The only complaint I'll ever have here is the tiny space and extreme heat in there. This is a crowded as hell but awesome food court. Don't expect a lot as far as ambience goes. It's no frills. But it is great. There's an ice cream/soda shoppe inside. I go there for some of the unique items there like fresh squeezed orange juice, falooda paan and gunnay ka Russ (sugarcane juice). All are amazing. The place is very close to my home. You get all varieties of food here. Afghani food - which is the tastiest among all the others. Try their beef chapli kabab platter and chicken platter although once the chicken seemed it was not fresh and smelled. Punjabi food - their appetizer like chaat and samosa are nice but the entries aren't too good. Their chicken biryani doesn't taste like biryani at all. Chinese food - the menu with the most items there. The food is okay the noodle dishes are better. Juice bar - in the middle is the highlight, the chai / tea, falooda, freshly squeezed orange juice, and gunnay ka Russ are absolutely worth visiting this place. Overall the place has a variety to choose from and some unique items as well but the seating is cramped and sometimes you'd be sharing with others as they have those long tables. We heard about this food court a while back when it had four stars. We never had a chance to check out the place until recently. I ordered a chicken biryani from Biriyani. They took pre-cooked chicken from some un-refrigerated container. Went to the refrigerator and got a plastic container of pre-cooked and pre-portioned biryani. Nuked everything and put it in a aluminum take out container. Five stars for speed, but two for everything else. Seasoning was heavy, with the spices still in the rice. I don't mind cardamon, but you try biting into a whole star anise. We also tried a kati roll from Bombay Spice. The owner was super pushy. We were going to try something from the Chinese stall, but was ambushed. We ended up getting the "New York really good" kati roll. He also tried pushing the bombay bhel and mango lassi. It was fortunate that we stood our ground, since the kati roll, if it was any indication of the rest of the food there, was meh. My brother who had kati rolls before, said it was okay. My bro got a shrimp curry from the Punjabi stall. It was not bad. Easily the best out of everything we got that night. They did take a long ass time with it. But after watching them make our biryani, I wouldn't have minded waiting even longer. read more
