They've changed their name from Desi Supermarket to Food Farm Supermarket but apparently service is still sucky. On this old year's day (New year's Eve) I went in from the Central Ave side to grab something I'd forgotten to get at another supermarket. It was quiet in there. Myself and four other shoppers. Except for the produce I saw, stock didn't look (I don't know how to put this except...) fresh. The store itself has a musty feel to it. Cashiers were slow and playful with each other but it's the holidays so maybe..... Other staff members played in the aisles and didn't even stop when his teammate informed him I was trying to get by. The employees at the store located on North Central Avenue are very helpful. I go there specially for the Halal meat. The Spanish butcher is very nice and very helpful unlike the one at the other location by Elmont. I went to the Elmont location once and the butcher charged me extra $$ for cutting whole chicken. Usually there is an extra charge for cleaning chicken legs because they are cheaper than already cleaned legs but no other places charged you to cut whole chicken. I am glad this location in valley stream is open. The meat is always clean and the butcher is very nice and he wants to help his customers. read more

This place smells horrendous. The rotting smell is so bad I don't know how they are even considered a supermarket. Isn't there a sort of health violation against this unsanitary. The only thing this place has going for them is that they are open late. That s it. They need a major cleaning because bad smells means bad food. read more

RIP OFF!!! They charge $2.99/lb for beef stew on display, but ring it up as ground beef($3.99/lb) if you ask them to grind it. And they have NO ground beef on display! No butcher I know does that! They make prices up as they go...watch the register closely, and know what you're buying, because they grossly overcharge unless you correct them! They will send a guy to follow you all over the store as if you want to steal their musty food! I used to find this store convenient because it's open 24 hours, and I could pick up groceries on my way home from working evenings. Now, I'll go to King Kullen, and pay a little bit more. This place is closed I think,. Tried calling and it just rang and rang off the hook.... Then went to beeps. It was going downhill fast for months now. Shelves were empty... Inventory wasn't being restocked... Evasive answers from the food manager. The owner was never around. Depresssing place anyway with unfriendly staff. Good riddance. I must say the place was extremely clean. I went there to buy a few pounds of different meats. I would have given them 5 stars because the price was great for fresh meat, the only problem was that they got over on me by weighing the meat prior to cutting of the fat. I remember passing this supermarket during late night hours and seeing the doors wiiiiiide open. Being that Pathmark is now closed, it's good to know there's another 24/7 supermarket other than King Kullen nearby. This supermarket needs some work! The prices are ok but it can use a good cleaning, some organization, and some friendly staff members. It's a little on the dingy side, the aisle signs have categories missing, and it's just cluttered. It doesn't have a refreshing food feeling at all. I would NOT buy meat from here with its current condition. The front of the supermarket says Food Farm now but my receipt still says Desi Food Market. read more

But last week I bought some meat and went i went home, The meat was so bad. it must have been sitting there for days, it smelled so bad. today went back to the store told the cashier & he didn't even apologize. This place needs to be shut down immediately!! THEY HAVE GIANT COCKROACHES IN THEIR MEAT SECTION! I bought a pack of boneless chicken. when i went home to wash it, i noticed some small black particles in it.Turns out the disgusting black particles were ROACH FECES. I went and i saw a HUGE roach running along the counter where they CUT their meat. When i confronted the manager, he didn't seem to care, He was more concerned with people finding out.I left right away. PLEASE DONT GO HERE! I go here often because their meats are fresh ,chicken hearts,goat,halal chicken.cow foot,lamb.other things i get when on sale .they a bit pricy on their juices they want you to purchase like $30-$50 to get at a lower rate .The Security always follow me when i go in i confronted them about this & they backed off when i started fliming their faces & put on youtube .Just came back today no problem so far.For the meats good.Oh yeah dont buy the Rhuana apple juice taste like it was made through a rusted pipe.... read more

Recently I've noticed that the quality of the items at the bakery has gone down. I had the lamb over rice, which was freshly prepared at my request, which was good. But the cheesecake, that is usually nice a soft was harder than usual. Also the rolls that I purchased were so hard, smdh. I hope that the quality goes back to the way it was, and soon!! read more

This place is disgusting. Metaphorically and literally. The staff is rude. Especially the dudes that work weeknights. I've been in this neighborhood since that location used to be a Marty's shoe store, and I've seen the decline in the area due to poor management. The bakery next door had such a delectable selection. Then when Desi Food expanded, I noticed how fast downhill the quality of desserts declined. When speaking with some former workers, I was informed that they didn't even pay their workers on time/what they actually worked. In addition to all that, the selection of things seem to get narrower and narrower every week. I'm done with this store. Oh, by the way, they don't offer refunds. I liked the idea that this place was open 24/7. As soon as I walked in I realized that the store was extremely dirty and unorganized. The staff (especially the manager) is extremely rude and offers no help. I strongly recommend steering clear of this place. read more
